- While being a ferret owner is fun, it is also filled with a lot of responsibility. Deep cleaning the ferret room is just one of these tasks. Ferret are pretty clean animals, just like cats, they don’t appreciate a dirty litter box or sleeping area. And even though ferrets do a good job at keeping themselves clean, that does not stop them from being a bit smelly. Yes, I said it, ferrets smell, personally, it doesn’t bother me, but even ferrets who have been de-scented, smell. This is because scent still comes out from the oils in your ferrets skin. It’s kind of a musky smell. One of the best ways to control ferret odor is to keep their bedding and the area they stay in clean.
Giving your ferrets a bath WILL NOT help them smell better. In fact, it could make them smell worse. Over bathing a ferret will cause then to over produce the oils in an effort to replace the natural oils washed off in the bath. Its really good that you make videos like these While they are really cute they are also a ton of work and i think people can really underestimate that. I just adopted a kit myself from someone who was just completely unprepared. Really looking forward to the cage cover video

I clean daily too 😂. I just don’t organize all their bedding everyday or mop under the rug, although I do vacuum a few times a week and I definitely have to clean the hardwood floor at least twice a week, but I clean around the litter boxes daily, even if they don’t have accidents. The litter comes out or they scoot their butts on the floor

I don’t vacuum first 😱 I like to wait until the end because usually when I clean the litter boxes and sweep the liners little bits of food and litter fall on the floor, it just wraps the whole clean up super nicely for me
I do it both ways too, but in the video I was getting ready to mop and realized I didn’t vacuum and all the litter and stuff was still all over the floor 😂

My ferrets have carpet in their cage and their cage is huge and is a mess...Any tips would be great!!
Can ferrets be happy in a single room all day? I am thinking of getting one or two and I am really trying to understand whether or not they would be happy in my room 99% of the time except when i take them out on a leash weather permitting... and occasional time exploring the house but that would not be every day.. Have any tips for me?
Honestly please just get em! The life you will give them will be FAR better than living in a pet store being moved to other stores if not sold within 3 months. Or worse, ending up in a science lab. Unfortunately a lot of Marshall ferrets are used as test subjects. Covid testing is done on them too :( so please get them! Or adopt!!
