I don't even own a ferret but i still enjoyed the video and found it interesting
I'm glad you found it entertaining! What other kind of ferret videos would you like to see as a non-owner?
@@TheModernFerret I'm not a ferret owner, but maybe a diet video? Like the right foods to feed your ferret and what not to feed them. If you haven't already.
Same here really want a ferret but don’t believe I can handle it I want a ferret but I don’t want to provide a bad home to a ferret I don’t to be mean to a ferret and I believe my house would be a stressful environment for a ferret but I can at least watch these videos so I’m a happy camper
Half the people who watch it don't have ferrets and just are interested or want one
Saaaaaaaaaaaaame but im planing to get one soon, do you know any plases to get a ferret without them getting them shiped from a mill?
Any shelters near goodyear or somth
"Grab your *roommate's* tooth brush"... Not sure I'll be too popular after having done that! 😅

What am i doing here? I don't even own a ferret, and i have an exam in 7 hours!

youre brain is simply getting the urgde to learn something new. i see it as a reaaly good thing vs people that dont care to learn or read up on anything and just waste time. despite you not owning one yet, still somethi g good to know. mabey one day you could babysit one for a friend or neighbor OR you may get one for yourself and youl know how to care for it. no knowledge is useless knowledge ☝
If you are a new ferret owner this video is for you. If you’ve had ferrets previously, this is valuable content too, you may have forgotten old tricks you used in the past. I did and this content poster reminded me of those tricks which I am excited to implement again.
OP: Tip of the hat and kudos to you for this, firstly enjoyable content and secondly the comprehensive tips you learned and have been kind enough to share. You’ll save me hours that I typically spend answering questions; I’ve become the go-to for my friends whom have gotten the ferret bug.
Potential Ferret Owners: All that said, ferrets aren’t as easy as a cat, dog, or a bird, that is if you are providing the same level of care across these three breeds mentioned. Ferrets should have their litter boxes and cage cleaned twice a day. They need a few litter boxes in their roaming area. They should be housed in a large multi-tired cage, the environment they are allowed to explore must be proofed because they can, and will, get into any and everything. They are social animals and must be integrated with the family. They are biternal (not sure if that’s spelled right) meaning they are normally up twice a day (dusk and dawn) and should be allowed to roam at those times. I clean their cage when they are exploring at those times. I have two ferrets currently and have never had more trouble jab that at one time. With more you may have to clean the litter box more often. They will often gain interest and resist you messing with their home. So, don’t take ferret ownership lightly, especially if you have only one. Their diet is specific and counterintuitive to any other pet you have owned. For example, peas are deadly to them. In adopted my current ferrets. Initially, they would only eat the freeze dried meat pellets when they were dry as they come out of the bag. This made them drink far more water. Now they love their flash frozen meat pellets rehydrated. I fill their water, they consume only filtered water, to a lower level which keeps it cleaner. Their water is also more clean because they started dipping their pellets in their water dish like raccoons. This made a heck of a mess on the floor as well as the water bowl. They depend on you for all their experience and quality of life experience. All that said, they are very rewarding pets and often do better than you in new experiences. Be well!
Correction above…I have never had more than two ferrets at a time…
One thing I've been struggling with my boys..
I hope you found this method helpful!
I thought the treat was soap i was so scared lol

I shower with my ferret. He loves it. I take off the shower nozzle, and jet wash him. He responds to how relaxed I am with stuff.
I ve been binge watching these bc I'm getting a ferret tommorow
Awesome video! My boy hates baths. My girl just lays there and loves all of that pampering. Lol I like the suggestion about the smaller tub. I’ll try it for my boy. 😊
Different ferrets are so unique when it comes to how they react to bath time. Moose is like your boy but like I mentioned in the video, treats and offering an arm for them to hold onto really helps! Let me know if the smaller tub helps too. Thanks for watching!!
Omg this is so Damn cute🥺Last year, I was thinking a lot last year about taking a ferret. I recognize that happy I recognize that happy running after a bathe with my dog haha
I love the happy drying-off run!
I’m watching all your videos, THERE AMAZING! I’m try to convince my parents to get me a ferret! And I would never get this close to getting one without you and your videos! 😁
same here, im just starting to conivince my mum to let me get 2, but I've been watching all the videos I can XD
I’ve made a HUGE list of reasons why we should get a ferret. I also have a list of fun facts to make me look smart and responsible. I haven’t shown my parents yet but I hope they agree

OMGosh "grab your roommates toothbrush and give them a little rub on the head" - too funny!!! Loved this video, thank you so much. I can't imagine ever being without my furry friends; the best pets ever!
“Go ahead and grab your roommate’s toothbrush” Caught me off guard! 😭
This is so adorable! Thankyou I’ve picked up more helpful tips to bathe my albino girly 💖🥰
I'm so happy you liked the video! Thanks for watching :)
I keep coming back to this just to watch the post-bath zoomies, haha. Your videos have been great - I'm planning to get a ferret in a couple of months or so, and thanks to this channel I'm pretty confident that I'll have a good setup when I'm ready!
Love those zoomies. Glad you are doing research!
Thanks for all the tips!
Ferrets are the cutest 💜
I'm trying to get a ferret of my own so this really helps, thank you! 😊
Girl you helped me so much
I love the Modern Ferret!!❤️❤️
I have recently found your videos. My son and I are considering having ferrets, probably in about another 6 months or so. We are watching your videos to learn as much as we can before actually getting the ferrets. So, thank you for all your hard work!
You are superb!! I used to have 2 baby ferrets and your content always remains me how awesome, cute and joyfull they were. Thanks for bringing up happy moments :)
This means so much for us :) I'm glad we could give yo some good feelings
I am getting 2 ferrets soon and this is sooo helpful!!! ❤❤

You’re such an amazing ferret owner ❤️
Thank you!!
I don’t ever plan on owning a ferret but darn it this was simply delightful
As usual everything is at a high level! thank u !
Thank you for watching and commenting!!!
Welcome to the youtube space! That video quality is pretty incredible, what camera and lense are y'all using?
Thee Captain Jack ferret himself commenting on my videos?? I'M FLOORED! I love all of your O.G. ferret content, so thank you for the warm welcome - that really means a lot! My camera is a full-frame Nikon D800 with a chunky 50mm Tamron prime lens.
This video is absolutely amazing. My little noodle would never hold still in the tub but the moment i used the toothbrush they calmed down so much
Since I want to get a ferret when I’m older this is a perfect learning experience
It is so adorable watching them after bath time! I only use dawn if I saw fleas but I have them treated them. I don’t bathe them too much since I know it’s bad. I do have tea tree oil to spray on them if I need to.
They are so funny when they are drying off. I'm glad to hear you are open to learning about ferret bathes! Regarding tea tree oil, I'd recommend against it as there is a high possibility that it is toxic to your ferret: www.ferret.org/pdfs/education/poisons.pdf
I love ferrets!!!
This video helped alot. Thanks!
I just got a new ferret and i loved your how to bond with your ferret and he loves me and i love him and he is so calm
What a lovely friendship you have!
This video was great and so was the nail cutting one! I’m so happy you’ve decided to start a UA-cam channel! I would love to see a video on your ferrets diets - what they eat and how often. Have you struggled with overweight ferret so far?
Kind regards, Silvia
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! We are working on one regarding ferret diets but (as you may know) it's a complicated and highly debated topic so we want to take our time. As far as overweight ferrets go, I believe we had a vet tech comment on Moose as a baby saying he was borderline 'overweight', but now after years of having ferrets, I really think he just had a combination of baby weight and winter chub.
The Modern Ferret thank you so much for replying! Can’t wait for all the videos that are coming up! 😁
THANK YOU
Thank you for teaching me I am gonna get one next week and I need tips and everything like that so this helps me
Thank you so much for posting these videos, after my bunny died I was very sad for a year but then I came across your channel, AS I watched these videos it helped me figure out if a ferret was best for me and I am currently trying to convince my mom to buy me one
Very interesting videos answering many questions. Keep it up!
Great job 🤗
Love it!! So fun to watch.
Thank you!!
I love ferrets so much
Us too!
Awww! This is so cute. I love ferrets and I got to pet one at Walmart because someone brought one and was letting people touch it. She was SO SOFT! Love you guys!
Thank you for watching and for your kind comment :)
@@TheModernFerret omg omg OMG! I cant believe you replied so soon!! I'm so happy! Love you and the ferrets so much!
I don't even have a ferret but i like this vid so i followed and now i wanna get a ferret more!
Thank you so much!
what a cutie! Great video! I hadn't thought about having a smaller tub inside the tub and then towels inside the tub. Great idea, we have one baby who does not like bathtime at all! I hope this helps.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! The smaller tub really helps Moose keep calm. Let me know how your ferret reacts!
Thank you so much for this. I mightttt be getting a ferret and I need all the help I can get.
This was so helpful by I didn’t know how to give my ferret a bath now I do :)
Another comprehensive video and Albert is absolutely adorable!! I've seen other people use oatmeal baths for their ferrets. What are your thoughts on this and would you recommend it or do you think just using water is enough? Thanks :)
Thanks so much!! Albert is the cutest, derpiest lil guy ever. I've seen people use oatmeal baths as well but haven't learned enough about it yet. It seems to be safe and soothing for cats and dogs. Hopefully we can do a video on oatmeal baths in the future :) Also, I want to do one on showering with ferrets!
7:21 is my favourite scene of any youtube video ever
🤣
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS, THEY ARE SO SATISFYING AND THEY ALWAYS MAKE MY DAY 😻😻😻✨✨✨💗💞💘💞❣️💞💘💞💞💘💓💓💕💞💌💞💕💝💋
Thank you so much for saying that!
I got a ferbear about 5 weeks ago and have given him 7-8 baths at this point with the oat method (placing plain oats into a sock and squeezing it in the water for a natural/safe remedy). He had a raging order when I got him, it’s gotten 75% better but I just could not get the last bit of stink out. I ended up using a natural lemon scented soap from Trader Joe’s that finally removed the odor. Save yourself the time.
You make awesome quality and content
Thank you very much :)
You have the best intro
Im very happy to see more than one person has made a accurate ferret bathing video! I heard you can also use oak saok.👍👍👍😇😍
Yes, thank you! Oatmeal soak works nicely for itchy bodies, but it can turn into a mess. I should do a video on how to do one!
A video on how to furnish a good cage for ferrets and on methods to provide them with stimulation and safe spaces to climb and explore would be cool.
Also the tube system in your backround seems super interesting, a closer look at that would be very interesting.
Great suggestions! We plan to do a cage video very soon. And yes, stimulation/enrichment is so important. We will start looking into those topics :)
And hopefully do a tube video soon!!
I love ferret
I agree!

Love the afterbath Zoomies!🤣
My brother and I had a ferret when he finished high school and I was in kindergarten. One time he had fleas or was just smelly. We would put a towel in the sink so he wouldn't be sitting on the porcelain, fill up the sink with warm water. He loved it and would just sit there and let us wash him. Sometimes he liked to splash around but other times he just liked sitting in the water.
My ferret loves bath time now!
So i just used this yo wash my baby boy aang and he was much calmer and used the sink nosel and he loved being able to lay on my arm and have the water flow over his back and not be submerged :) thank you so much
Omg. So cute 💕
Thanks :D
I LOVE FERRETSSSSSSSSS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot, it's a good video :)
Thanks for watching and commenting! :)
the way he open the door AWWIEEE
Thanks, this really helps, I plan on owning a Ferret once I'm living with my own income.
My ferret is just lilttle baby so he is a bit of a mess when it comes to showering so this was very usefull thank you!
I'm so glad!
Hi there! I have been watching lots of videos and looking up lots of things about ferret care before I get one. I have been trying to find out how long a ferret should spend in a bath when it comes time to bathe them. I have found lots of resources saying how often to bathe them but none saying how long they should be spending in the bath. Thank you for all of your helpful videos!
Thanks it reallyyy helped a lot to bathe my imaginary ferret...
Just found your videos and subscribed, very educational videos you have 👍👍
Awesome, thank you!
Zasu (sez-u) liked to go snorkeling during bathtime. 🤣🤣🤣
LOL the roomates tothbrush cracked me up!
Thank you for noticing that part! It's my favorite!
I don’t own a ferret, but I’m very interested in getting one! I love your channel and your insta, would you consider doing a feeding video(What to feed them, right time to feed them, how often to feed them, etc.)? Thanks!
This is a great topic, and it is definitely one I will cover in the future!
I just got a ferret, she was tied up outside in Vegas heat!. These videos are very helpful. Thank you. Here’s to hoping I don’t end up with a bite after this.
That's so sad! I'm glad you were there to help them!
thanks
I'm going to get a ferret when I move so I feel like I should be watching these beforehand :)
Thanks for teaching us how to bath ferrets correctly so I could buy one when I have money
Happy to help!
Albert is adorable
He is, isn't he?
This was a great video informative and correct especially about not using those poisonous shampoos and not bathing often I think my little rescue baby's were kinda traumatized by the previous owners they can't stand being in water they love water unless there are in it then they panic and scratch like nothing else I don't know if they will ever like baths I tried putting a small bin of water out for them to play with and they did a little I hope it will help them forget whatever the previous people did and know we would never hurt them
You sound like a very caring ferret owner, thank you for nurturing their needs!
Uve inspired me to wash all 4 ferrets today. When I bring ferrets to beach at a lake they walk right into the water on their own. The baths at home tho are not by their choice so they hate me for it. 😀
I happen to love their natural smell. Well, their natural descented smell 😐. I think a lot of ferret owners grow to love their smell.
Edit: so I did the bath for them. I was wrong. The girls can’t jump out when a few inches of water is in the tub. A dry tub they can get out of
Our ferret is cage free. I believe he thinks he's a cat lol. He has a cat brother and he has no problem drinking water from the cat dish and eats out of his own bowl. We do keep a pet pee pad out and he does use it. Never had any problems. He's absolutely perfect.
I'm 1/3 of the way through this video and my gf has almost convinced me to get one. Will update shortly
Thanks im getting a ferret soon
Love the video. My two recent ferrets are terrified of baths, and I look like I was attacked by a mountain lion. lol But seriously, none of the ferrets I’ve had over the last 20+ years ever panicked like this.
One is only 5 months old and recently purchased, and the other is a rescue of which the vet said is about 2 to 2 1/2 years. His fur was, and is, extremely yellow (He’s an albino), and he was , and still is, scratching a good bit. The vet couldn’t find anything wrong with his skin.
There didn’t seem to be anything I could do to calm them down so just dried them off and let them calm down and burrow in soft towels. The youngest I used only water, and the other I used a little ferret shampoo, which I won’t do anymore.
So what do you suggest that I can do so they’re not terrified of baths? I’ve never had one that was afraid, so this is new.
Lastly, my albino (Fable) was a rescue/surrender and appears to not have ever had a bath.
I’m at a loss and don’t want to traumatize them again. I am also only able to use the sink to bathe them due to physical limitations that make it impossible to kneel.
Thank you so much I have been struggling to batch felix (my ferret) thanks
Of course!
I'm getting one this friday
So EXCITING!
I sometimes use oatmeal to clean my ferret
Yes I think that's a popular technique
I love the oatmeal bath! It makes the ferrets smell like an old lady lolol

I love your vids I follow you here and on TikTok and on Instagram
Welcome!
I really want ferrets so badly.
Could you please let me know how you done the tunnel on your wall. I have 3 and would love to do make one for my little babies 👶. Love all your help.
I also found in my years of having ferrets, that they seem to stink less when they are free roam. Their whiskers also stick out more. We did have to spend time in the cage for the first few months at my mom's & I noticed their whiskers seem to be pressed against their face more, while when they are free roam, the whiskers seem to stick out like a cats. But I got distracted, back to my point. Keeping them in the cage seems to make them stinkier. This is probably b/c of the bedding. I have spent entirely too much $$$ on ferret/cat/dog beds trying to find something they really like. But for the most part, they sleep in different places when out of the cage, while in the cage, they all sleep in the same beds, all day, so part of their scent gland stink rubs onto the bedding. From what I understand, here in the US, ferrets are descented as kits, but they also have scent glands under their eyes, which is why they do that adorable thing where they rub their little faces. That's cleaning & squeezing the scent glands a bit. Wash bedding weekly, if not by weekly, depending on how many ferrets you have. I bought 3 sets of cage liners, 2 off Etsy & the other one is the blue & purple set made by ferret/critter nation. I also bought 2 sets of bedding/hammocks/sleep sacks from Etsy as well as the set that matches the rest of the ferret Nation theme. I recommend having multiple sets. You can make them yourself or help support other ferret owners & even ferret rescues. If you read some of the different stores on etsy, some donate part of what they make from selling the liners & bedding, to ferret rescues. If you're anything like me, you want the cage to match the holiday. So in an attempt to make them less stinky, you can decorate their cage. And every pet store has holiday themed toys & bowels & whatnot, you can buy the bedding in different themes of buy your own fabric to make it yourself. And, my favorite, you can make outfits for them, so if you have company over for Xmas, 1 ferret can have a Santa hat & scarf while another has a sweater or the little dragon costumes for Halloween. They are so fun. But 5 mins after you put the outfit on them, they'll run under the couch & weasel their way out so get your pictures quick! Lol. That was a long rant but it really comes down to the scent glands in their face. Because it's so close to the eyes, removing it isn't practical. The ones in their butts are very similar to skunks, they can spray. So be thankful they don't stink worse than they already do. And again, if you love ferrets, you don't care what they smell like, or you don't notice it anymore. Ferrants don't care what their fuzzies smell like. To me, their roses. Lol
Crystal -thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts! I think the point about the scent glands in the face is really interesting. Do you have an article you can link that I can read about that? I TOTALLY agree that spending a lot of time in the cage, in the same bed will increase their odor. I think buying bedding from passionate ferret owners on Etsy is a great way to support the community! Even if they don't donate to a shelter, they are still contributing positively to the community and that is just awesome. We hope to do a cage tour at some point -but I think we need to get some fun cage items first! Feel free to share the Etsy shops that you like.
