Check out my new 2023 studio update video using the link below! Finally invested in some quality analog hardware! ua-cam.com/video/yDqRbSeOkwI/v-deo.html
It's nice to see someone struggling with the same kind of space constrains I have to live with. Type in 'small home studio build' into UA-cam and it seems some people's definition of small studio looks something like the size of Abbey Road control room.
sounds better over much of the spectrum but there are low standing waves and your voice is hitting the range where it booms. I would lower the 1st reflection side panels about 1 foot and put 2 more behind the desk too.
Just a suggestion for your window, get a heavy curtain, something like you might find in a cinema or theater. With the surge in people making their own home theaters you should be able to find a source..
Tbh, I like to have some natural light and openness to the space. I didn’t close up the window with treatment because it changed the vibe of the studio
Building an recording studio I got some primacoustic London 12 panels half off online. Of course they aren’t that thick but better than bare wall. Using a broadband as a bass trap at the moment which I know isn’t ideal but works for now.
I’ve been watching every single video on youtube for acoustic treatment, never have I ever come so close compare to what I’ve learned with yours bro. And the funny thing is yours is not tagged as an acoustic treatment related video. You gotta change the #tags bro, because if I wasn’t looking for lightning ideas I wouldn’t see this right now. But Thanks a lot bro, it’s really inspiring. Real talk.!!
i have a small studio with big 8s, i found that the shape of the room was creating more bass bost in the right corner, i fix it with room control bass of the left to make a more equal feeling
Thanks man! It’s actually not an analog mixer, it’s a DAW controller with motorized faders called the SSL UF8. I made a review video about it! Check it out in my channel
Great video👍🏾 and it’s really helping with my installation, so thank you . Just wanted to know if the corner front wall bass traps were a custom size? It’s just that they look smaller in width then dimensions indicated on GIK standard sizes, but also they look more like the size I think I need,so would appreciate if you could advise if these were custom made by gik? Thanks
@@Semyon_Music Haha I will just make sure I have plenty of coffee on hand!! Seriously, your room looks great and it’s given me the nudge I needed to progress in my own space, so thank you!
Really nice video. You can really hear the difference when you're talking in the room at the end- room seems sonically tighter...although there is still a bit of resonance there you might want to track down.
To be honest I did not make it perfect because then I’d have to cover the windows and keeping the vibe of the studio inspiring was goal #1. Many studios are dark and grim and lose their character so I wanted to make sure to preserve a good atmosphere
Bro - did you ask the landlord / holding co if you could drill? That's the one thing that sketches me out the most with wanting decent acoustic treatment in an apartment.
Great video! Did fabric color in real life match the one you picked on GIK Roomle 3D floorplanner? Because I noticed a huge difference when they emailed me photos of the colors I chose!!
I got them to send me physical sample, and the colour of the physical sample matched the final product. I think anything displayed on a monitor is unreliable, unless you have a perfectly colour calibrated display and their website was made using colour calibrated displays, etc.
Why did you leave air gaps on the ceiling panels? Does that make a difference or you did that just cause of the ceiling light? Other videos I’ve seen leave some air gaps but I’m not sure if that makes a issue to recording and mixing or not..
Great video, man! What is the cabling you used on the ceiling panels? Is that part of the finished mounting, or did you just use those to lift the panels? All of my existing panels are GIK, and I have more on the way for ceiling mounting and I’m trying to decide on the best way to do the ceiling mounting.
@@HeyItsMattBell I have a concrete ceiling so I screwed eye screws directly into the ceiling and then looped the SlipNot cables through them. If you have a drywall ceiling, you might need to add extra support for the eye screws
That’s true but we also did not want to kill the vibe of the studio either! We take it down when it’s a mixing session, but leave it up for production and songwriting
Works for me. I have a few acoustic & semi- acoustics on the wall and if you slip the card thru alternate strings, it definitely stops string-vibrations, etc.
What would have been REALLY revealing was for you to take REW measurements before AND after. That way we could see just how much GIK screwed you for making you believe you could accurately treat such a small cube.

Right?? Thanks for watching 🔥
Literally had the most fun ever doing this with you! 💗 Love how much easier it looks than it was 🤣
So much fun 🔥
Have an idea now. Thanks.
Good luck with the build!
Thank you.@@Semyon_Music
Wow that came out amazing! Great video! I am waiting for my Music computing Kami station and so excited for little reno...
Thank you! Good luck with the reno 🔥
The fact that the producers do the work themselves is so amazing 👌👌
That's the best way! Gotta get the hands dirty
This is so cool to watch
Thank you!
I LOVED LOVED THIS ADVENTURE!!! So down to earth, good job Tenna and PP☺☺☺.
Thank you! 🔥
im also investing in a studio space soon. this video sort of helped me to understand how to plan my room.
Enjoy your studio build!

That's helpful! Also the big issue is I am recording these videos through my iPhone mic!
Amazing Transformation Dude!!!

At least it’s better than no acoustic treatment! Were the panels easy to install?
Super dope studio setup!!!!🤯🤯❤️🤍💯 my only cundrum is when you need to change the overhead lightbulb?
Thank you! And let’s hope that day never comes haha

This is awesome! I want to do the same thing with my wife

Love the way your studio came out looks great

Nice vid, gave me some thoughts and ideas for mine I’m setting up in the new crib 🙌

what are the dimensions of your room?
@@Semyon_Music aprox. 4x4 meters, with some irregular shape room (i know, not the best room for studio)
Not a bad size at all! My room is only 10 ft by 8 ft
@@Semyon_Music good studio remodelation btw
Thank you! 🔥🔥
Nice work. Definitely hear a difference.
Curious what you're using for a laser level?
Using a dewalt laser level mounted on a mic stand
Awesome video man! What analog mixer are you using btw? I’m considering buying one and yours looks pretty good!
Thanks man! It’s actually not an analog mixer, it’s a DAW controller with motorized faders called the SSL UF8. I made a review video about it! Check it out in my channel
You've got most of the gear I'm saving for! Even the Kawhi t-shirt 😂
The Kawhi shirt is clutch! What gear are you saving for?
@@Semyon_Music the UF8 and a UAD interface at least. But idk if the UF8 works well with Reaper so I think I'll wait and see if they support it.
@@beto5720 Highly recommend both! Apollo x4 was one of the best purchases

One of the is a standard 12" x 48", but the second panel underneath is a custom 12" x 40" I believe so that it would be flush from floor to ceiling
@@Semyon_Music thanks so much for coming back to me. I planned to use ook hooks to hang mine also, but it looked tricky in corners, any further tips?
Unfortunately it just takes time and patience to hang up the corners haha

Hi, proper acoustic solution should have the same sound decay on all frequencies. Did you measure your space to tweak it to that goal?
To be honest I did not make it perfect because then I’d have to cover the windows and keeping the vibe of the studio inspiring was goal #1. Many studios are dark and grim and lose their character so I wanted to make sure to preserve a good atmosphere

Yup it was completely fine. It’s easy to patch up when I move out
fire dude
Thanks man 🔥
awesome!!
Thanks! 🔥
Nice vid, thanks! Which colour (code) from GIK Acoustics did you choose?
Thanks! I’m not sure what the codes are, but the exact colours are Pure-White and Beige
@@Semyon_Music that helps! Thanks 🙏🏻

What type of lights are those on the back wall?
Front wall are Nanoleaf lights, back wall are the Philips Hue lights
What's the name of the Mixer? Looks nice and portable.
SSL UF8! Great controller with motorized faders
Dope vid !

wow man this is dope , what screens are u using am considering buying touch screens with motion command
Thank you! I'm using the Samsung SPACE monitor 27 inch
is the advice of gik really free? because I think about asking some advice how I need to acoustic
treat my room
When I did it, it was completely free! I think it still is free today
@@Semyon_Music thanks for your response yeah they say that its free but I wanted to know if it is really so im gonna try it out.😁

All of my existing panels are GIK, and I have more on the way for ceiling mounting and I’m trying to decide on the best way to do the ceiling mounting.
They're the Primacoustic SlipNot cables. They're extremely easy to use and let you make fine tuned adjustments to the angle of the ceiling clouds.

Hello, you will never see your security deposit ever again, sincerely, your landlord. (studio looks great)
Thanks!
Nice. U owe your gf a nice dinner for helping. Sub’s. Good luck man.
100% 🔥 and thank you!
The clap test sounds good but why does the voice talking still have echo?
The audio here was recorded on an iPhone so that’s probably causing some issues!
Hi! Love your videos! Question… where can I get that folding chair mat from? Thanks!

What is the name of that light you had sitting on the floor?
Philips Hue Go 🙂

@@Semyon_Music I wonder how much you spent on the treatment If you don’t mind. Thank you
It was about $1000 USD plus shipping

Nice! I'll bet you won't be getting your damage deposit back...my problem too.
Worth it!
How much did you end up spending on all the panels?
It was about $1000 USD plus shipping! Not too bad for 4 to 6 inch thick panels
@@Semyon_Music thank you 🙏
🔥
What round LED light is that on the floor?
Philips hue GO light
@@Semyon_Music K thanks bruh 👍🏼👊🏽❤
🔥
looks awesome but you shouldn't hang an acoustic guitar in there, instant reverb

Slip a card thru the strings?
Not a bad idea!
Works for me. I have a few acoustic & semi- acoustics on the wall and if you slip the card thru alternate strings, it definitely stops string-vibrations, etc.
Awesome I’ll definitely try that out 🔥
i think you need more bass traps
Every panel installed is 4-6 inches thick so they are all bass traps! With the KRK 6s, it’s really under control now
@@Semyon_Music you should mesure your room with rew or sonarworks
For sure 🔥
your studio sounds boomy . Why is that ? even after acoustic treatment
The microphone that the video was recorded on is an iPhone so that may be it. Check out my newer videos for better audio!
Need fix that window it's the most reflective part
I left it open just to not create too much of a sterile look in the room! It’s first a production and writing space
What would have been REALLY revealing was for you to take REW measurements before AND after. That way we could see just how much GIK screwed you for making you believe you could accurately treat such a small cube.
Regardless of measurements, the room sounds a lot better, the bass is under control and its a great room to record vocals in!
@@Semyon_Music I'm sure it sounds better. I'm also sure the bass is NOT under control. Have you taken REW measurements? I'd love to see them :)
