One thing I like about the IDW Sonic Comics is that they tell really compelling stories and are not afraid to dip into darker, more serious themes. Such as an apocalyptic scenario or characters having to deal with grief or losing someone they care about. And yes, Vector was a champ in this saga. He went down swinging.
If there's one really good thing that came from IDW some it would be the art. It's so consistently good and really manages to capture expressions very well. Also don't be sorry for live commenting, I'll take all the engagement I can get :P

Most people I’ve seen (especially Shadow fans) HATE how Shadow is portrayed in this scene and in IDW in general, myself included. He’s far too overly edgy and hostile in IDW and in this scene specifically he’s borderline stupid, Shadow is supposed to be smart and tactical in fights and he just decides to ignore everyones warnings about the virus and grabs a zombot for no reason, getting himself needlessly infected and it’s honestly infuriating. Needless to say he was written far better in Ian’s Archie run but thanks to mandates were stuck with this edgy clown fiesta for the foreseeable future.😫
I assume that he thought he would be safe because he is the Ultimate Lifeform. You know, he is immortal and normal infections can’t make him sick. He probably thought he would be immune.

You know some ridiculous exposition like “I will go fight these things because I am Ultimate Lifeform and was designed to be biologically immortal and I cannot get sick, so I don’t have to worry about being infected”.
Vector was already my favorite Sonic character, since crocodiles are my favorite modern animal. But seeing how committed he was to protecting people, including the infected Charmy, before going down like a badass to save his friends cemented him as one of my favorite characters in anything.
For me, the saddest part about this story is big’s ending story he goes through everything and avoids the virus until the very end when he gets home with froggy 😭😭😭
Shadow thought the same thing when diving head-first into the zombot crowd, he even said as much. Moral of the story: kids, no matter how immune to something you think you are, take precautions. Always put on a mask, gloves, a condom, whatever - just stay safe.

It occurred to me that if this type of story had been told in the Sonic games, the mood would have been ruined because of the clancky animation or bad dubbing. SPOILERS Man, Whisper, Cream and Espio had it the WORST in this arc. Cream lost her entire family. Espio lost the two people he considered to be his closest friends. And then Whisper lost Tangle, someone she was the closest too.
I'm sorry but I just cannot understand how you liked Shadow's portayl in this arc. He was so out of character for no good reason, and even worse he's made to be as stupid as possible. Him thinking he's immune to the virus was a cool idea on paper. Of course he'd think that, one of the reasons he was made was to be a cure for N.I.D.S., and he didn't know the metal virus wasn't a normal virus--but ain't no way he would just jump headfirst into a horde of zombots with no plan or sense of self preservation. I could see SA2 era Shadow doing this, but not modern day Shadow who's learned to cooperate with others and is a good strategist. "Cowards run, I win." that's shit you'd hear from Cell/Buu saga Vegeta, not Shadow the goddamn Hedgehog. Its just the plot deciding he can't be in it anymore and having him be taken out in the most unsatisfying way possible.
I'm not forced to do anything, there have been plenty of moments through my videos where I have criticized something (including Sonic 06). I do get that I'm in a minority when it comes to enjoying Shadow's portrayal in this story, but, to me, his actions here aren't the end of the world or the worst thing ever. Dude's a biologically engineered super-being who refers to himself as the ultimate lifeform. His hubris can get the best of him here and it can be used as a point of growth for his character in the comics. I feel like, outside of SA2, we've seen so little of Shadow's character in games that it's hard not to think of him as that depiction. Not to mention that, I always view the comics as a separate entity from the games. I have no reason to damage control the Sonic franchise, the majority of my content is me talking about Archie Sonic comics that aren't even in circulation anymore. But even if I was, there wouldn't be much to do. Genuinely, with Frontiers, the new Generation game and the current arc of the comics, we are in a great period to be fans of Sonic.
