- Scrapnik island was a really interesting mini-series in the IDW Sonic comics that featured the return of Mecha Sonic, but in a much more damaged and customized state. I honestly love this comic and I think it's totally worth checking out.

Sonic now officially has a connection with Mecha Sonic!
The Scrapnik Island miniseries is one of my favorite stories to come from the IDW Sonic Comics. All the throwbacks to past games and adventures were great. It was cool to see a new E-Series robot with E-117 Sigma. Mecha Knuckles making a return after only appearing in the Sonic Advance games was neat. And all the other Scrapniks had creepy but fun designs and names too.
But seeing Mecha Sonic Mk.II return and get a character arc was definitely the highlight of the comic for me. He’s my favorite of the robot Sonic doppelgängers and his new Scrapnik design looks cool. I like how he was portrayed and his message at the end was pretty sweet. And the nod to SMBZ Mecha Sonic with him saying “I’ll Crush You!” in one of the panels was a unexpected but welcome reference.

It is weird to find out that clip came from DBZ Cooler in his 5th form, which seems to have been retconned into oblivion.
It was actually a callback to a popular Flash animation series Super Mario Bros Z where mecha Sonic was the main villian.

This was an awesome story, I really do hope we see the Scrapnik's again. I liked seeing Mecha Sonic make a return and it was nice seeing Sonic help him with his problem. I hope we get more stories like this in the future! Thanks for this video!!
