    Great vid! It was one of the clearest and easiest to understand that I've seen for this game.

    For those looking for the next entry, that'll likely be posted tomorrow (11/11/22) in the morning sometime. Thanks for watching!

    If you follow the rule book, you pick your target before you spend SO points on munitions.

      Correct, I did screw that up. This mistake is highlighted pretty well in part 2.

    I really enjoy the Leader series and I've enjoyed Spruance but effectively organising and storing it is a bit of a nightmare compared to the other Leader titles I own.

      Absolutely agree. There is a ton of stuff in that game, you'd probably need three game boxes to effectively store it all. I put all the expansions back in their bags, which isn't ideal, but at least I know where (generally) to find things that way.

    I think you were suppose to pull chits for the contacts on sub cards. Then you detect.

    • @HexedAndCountered
      @HexedAndCountered Рік тому

      Yes, that's correct - I think I realized that later on, but I might be thinking of part 2 (which isn't posted yet). Pull the ship from the cup so you know what's being detected then roll. Thanks!

    First detect...+2 for the event, +1 for the ship, +1 for the screen. You missed the screen, even in your klingon comments.

    I'm just trying to get up to speed on this. When you rolled your detect roll, should the screening force get a +1 (I think). Or is that to detect the screening ships?

      @HexedAndCountered Рік тому

      Wow - you are right. That's been staring me in the face every time I look at the Tactical Display (and it's in the rules) and I completely missed it. The +1 is for screening force ships on their detection attempts (not the enemy's attempts). That's probably cost me several times. Thanks for pointing that out!

      @@HexedAndCountered it always takes me about 100 tries to get everything right in boardgames. Hehe.
      Corsair leader had a natty player aid which said this roll is this plus this minus that plus this

    Apologies if my math is off, but how did you purchase a helicopter? I counted your ships as totaling 80 SOs.

    • @HexedAndCountered
      @HexedAndCountered Рік тому +1

      I believe I used mission SOs - that's allowed by rule 4.1.4.2 as long as you have a ship that can support the helicopter.

    Is that a queens accent I detect?

    • @HexedAndCountered
      @HexedAndCountered Рік тому

      Close.... but on the other side of Manhattan. I was born & raised in Jersey City, NJ - close enough to see Manhattan from my home. The accent has been tempered (a bit) by 20 years of living elsewhere as an adult. But I'll likely never lose it entirely.

    Hello, Joe. Happy Election Day.
    I have a question: What the heck is Spruance?? Sounds pornographic. . .

    • @HexedAndCountered
      @HexedAndCountered Рік тому

      Hi Carl! Happy Election Day to you too - the Spruance class is a type of Destroyer, named for World War II US Navy Admiral Raymond Spruance. That gave me a good laugh - thanks!

    All DVG Leader games are completely asinine.

      ... They're surprisingly fun. I wasn't expecting to like them since I like realistic video games (Close Combat Series in particular) and the very abstract map/over-target board did not seem like I'd like it. What drew me in was the persistent pilots with attributes/levels and XP with the risk of permadeath during Campaigns.
      What I have:
      Hornet Leader physical copy - The groundwork for the Leader series
      Thunderbolt Apache Leader Vassal - separate aircraft with damage and pilots and an actual map with hexes and terrain
      Israeli Air Force Leader Vassal - More like Hornet Leader with lots of variety through eras and aircraft
