wow this truck looks amazing
I know Scotty you don’t like kias but my Kia soul the passenger side front tire blew out a few months ago and I walked away with nothing but shallow cuts on my shoulder it did smack into a pole on the passenger side however I got my step dads Nissan frontier and I love it it’s 4wd of course it’s a truck so it gets 17mpg it’s got the 4.0l v6 and surprisingly it actually rides pretty smooth even though it’s leaf spring rear suspension and it the same color as the one you did a review on its black it’s an sv too I’m definitely keeping it for a long time and my step dad pops got his sons 08 titan with the v8 I’m eventually getting a lmtv military truck too that way I have two cool trucks with good reliability I live in Florida so unfortunately you probably won’t meet me my uncle has a 1998 Tacoma we took it to the beach for many years and it’s still in excellent shape it’s 4wd 4 cylinder and a five speed manual transmission it still runs perfect nothing but routine maintenance so it’s definitely one great truck if you ever find yourself near middleburg Florida I would be honored to have you do a review on my truck

Scotty your completely wrong it wasn’t a wiring issue it was a wastegate on the turbos stop acting like Toyota is the be all do all.
Just picked up my 5.7L 2018 Tundra, I can buy a lot of gas with the money I saved on price and without it breaking or needing new batteries.
Surely, but then again, even the old V8 new wasn't cheap so you're just comparing the typical new vs old value.
I still have an 09 with just over 100k. Runs great!!
Wife drives a 11 platinum sequoia with the air suspension and same 5.7 v8. … only issue with either rig is having to remove skid plate to change oil filter.

the hybrid does very little for gas mileage anyways, its just for more torque at low rev range. You're not missing much. Battery replacement is easily 3-4k with non-oem batteries, probably double that with OEM. You're really not missing much other than the fancy new toys/gadgets which in reality makes no difference from going A-to-B. End of the day, new cars are just new toys, going A-to-B will always end up being durability and reliability.
We just sold a v8 f150 that got 18 mpg and didnt have plastic valve covers
I agree, I have a 13 I plan to hang on too. If I can ever find a single cab 5.7 I ll be getting one of those too.

And that's why people my age (around 20) are looking into older cars. It's hard for people like me to save money these days, let alone save up thousands of dollars for a tool (that's what a car is at the end of the day) that can be gone in an instant or just won't last even with proper maintenance

18mpg, you're better off with the V8 and no hybrid complications to repair down the road. The money you save in gas you'll be using it to replace turbos, wastegates, inverters, batteries, specialty components that interface the gasoline combustion side with the high voltage electrical side.
Yeah, I don't understand the point of the turbos and battery if it doesn't improve MGP. Increased complexity = lower reliability.
My 2015 Ford F150 V8 with 6 speed gets 18MPG. Outside of some increased power... I don't understand how this drive train is a win.

They honestly shoudlve used a more powerful e-motor n bigger batteries under the seat.
Hybrids work best at stop-go and low speed traffic anyways, they eat as much fuel as nonhybrids when they reach highway speeds.
In this engine’s defense (coz its also in the LS, LX, Sequoia and global Landcruiser), its definitely alot cleaner emission-wise compared to the old V8 n deliver power better, despite the very minor MPG improvement.
Only time will tell but turbos aren't a new tech and have been well understood and used in rigs putting a million miles easily without issues. Electric motors are even simpler with basically no issues as they have way less moving parts than any ic engine. The battery is still the only variable and they went with NIMH instead of lithium ion for reliability. The hybrid is just to produce more power at lower emissions, with less fuel consumption. If they tried that power figure from a natural aspirated engine, who knows what the mpg would be. Likely 10 highway 😂
I have a 2022 Tundra Limited that was made in early December 2021. I have 28k miles and my MPG is 19.2. Crazy, that truck only gets 18 MPG, he must put his foot into it all the time. I drive normal and I live near the mountains in the PNW with lots of foot hills. I’ve had no problems or failures with my truck.
Well what do you know, Scotty went from saying I wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole to giving it his approval 😂

People had 14 years to buy the previous gen Tundra/Sequoia brand new.
And people did buy the Tundra. Toyota maintained 120k annual sales, but they were still overshadowed by the american Big Three.
And if people didnt expect toyota to go down the downsizing n turbocharging route, well, they havent been reading the news. They were some of the last companies to do this, prefering to go down the hybrid route for most of their lineup, bar their trucks. That doesnt mean they were never going to, it was just a matter of time.
Those following auto news were wondering how long will toyota keep that V8 alive in their trucks. Well, the appearance of the new gen Lexus LX back in 2021 shouldve been a major red flag. Twinturbo 3.4L V6 in a ladderframe chassis? Hmm.
And in quick successions they released the new gen global Land Cruiser L300, Tundra, Sequoia, and even the Tacoma got the turbo-hybrid treatment.
I would get one when it’s 2027 and they worked out all the kinks but it the car market is still high then no new car

bought my 2002 Tundra new. I love that truck. It's been my only vehicle and it runs great. Have a few issues here and there with radiator, strut, and shifting column bracket, but zero electrical issues, zero engine or transmission issues. And I love the v8 ✊

I have 2005 Tundra before, gas hog! That thing is lucky to get 12MPG highway! Trade it in with Nissan Frontier. I know it is not the same class of truck but I love Frontier MPG, get 24-26MPG on highway and I can still tow 6200 lbs and that is more than I need!
Will be buying used 5.7 this winter. I don't mess with turbos.
No front tow hooks.. Who makes a 4 wheel drive with no tow hooks looks like my last Tundra.

You, we, me. We all need a mechanic like Scotty to look at a used vehicle purchase. Been watching numbers of Repo's flooding the auction sites.
Sheer numbers of defaults is huge.
I bought a car from a used car lot two decades ago.
I told the dealer what I wanted and he found it for me from auction.
Clean one owner, 4 years old and 41,000 miles. Sold it at 147,000 miles.
Yeah nobody can afford these dealerships ripoffs.
I was looking at this Toyota hybrid boost package HARD, but it is just simply blown away by GM’s 3.0 diesel platform. Workability, tow ability, gas economy, and overall cost. I’ve owned the tundra v8, EXCELLENT truck, but with either the Silverado or Sierra 3.0 diesel just does it better for less. ~$55k, great beds, 28+mpg on the freeway EASILY, and plenty of towing for a regular full size truck at 13k lbs. towing…
Got a 22 sr5 premium tundra no battery. Getting 20mpg on average. Have 34,000 miles on it. Less than a year with it. And oh yea I use it on a Gravel Mine. Pulling and hauling on a weekly basis. Dirty 6 days of the week. 1/3 of those miles are on a gravel rough road. So yea these are work hogs. 0 complaints.

Most people’s issue is they want a 60k truck for 30k. They make 30k trucks just buy what you’re comfortable with.

@@lastfirst6428 people cry for the basic 30k truck on the internet and claim manufacturers aren’t making them but yet they all do make them and nobody buys them everyone cries “I just want something simple and cheap” but that new f150 regular cab long bed with the weak 3.3L is just sitting collecting dust 😂
@@romeothompson9389 Please show me where you can buy a new F150 at 30k. The only $30k truck Ford offers is the Maverick and, surprise, it's on backorder for a year or more because so many are buying it.

I remember turbo timers.
Some came with stock.
People used to install them on non turbo cars, because it meant yours was a turbo.
I am leading the twin turbo non hybrid limited off road. On long trips it’s smooth and plenty of power. Transmission is so much another than previous models. The comfort in the cabin is much better.

I have a 2013 Sequoia with the 5.7 v8. It will definitely throw you back in your seat. Minebhas only 114k on it, it was 'old man owned' and largely it shows. It's a limited model with things like heated leather seats and a sunroof and a beautiful independent rear suspension. The the thing is huge but it honestly drives more like a very powerful minivan. It's also expensive. Expensive to buy, expensive to own. It's not a cheap truck. But it's well built and we plan on pulling an RV. Plus it has a 3rd row. Something most 4runners (Something I really wanted initially) doesn't have. I don't know about these turbo V6s let alone hybrids. The MPGs still obviously suck but I do love the looks of the new trucks. Just I think I would really miss the v8.
People complaining about 18 mpg dont even realize the smaller tacoma 3.5 V6 gets 17 mpg. A big heavier more powerful truck gets better mpg than the midsize is a huge win
Excellent video Scotty. It is a shame you don’t have the Toyota HiLux in the States, it would be interesting to compare we have a 2 seat and 4 seat cabs with different trim levels starting at £27k Active to £40k GR Sports with 2.4 diesel. Recent discussions with my radio Cell Tower engineer teams, they now only use either Toyota HiLux or the Mitsubishi L200 pick-up in the fleet, nothing else in the available U.K pick-up range, is quote “up-to the job” apparently.
Mine gets 19 city and yes, I tow 7000lbs daily and get about 10.5-11 mph. I love this Platinum. Miss my V8 too but the hybrid is the wise choice and will keep the engine running longer and smoother!

@@ZhekaSpetz92 do it! I love these new engines and soft suspension. I got the SR5 with the TRD package and my payload max has been around 2k and it's still not on the bump stocks
@@puprilla that’s great to hear. Yeah I’ve looked at the SR5 TRD such a good bang for buck truck seems like. But that TRD won’t leave my thoughts! I hope buying that one won’t make me ever want a truck from the big three. Besides I think the TRD pro looks better than the rest. The TRX is exception , but way too expensive
I have a 2023 Ram with a HEMI and it also has e-torque. I put a 1000 miles on it during are last vacation. This was a combination of highway and city driving. I averaged almost 21 MPG . Very happy with it.
I just made a trip from stl to Atlanta in my 2019 tacoma and got 22 to 23 so I'd say your doing pretty good with a v8

I have the 2024 1794 edition with iForce Max and it's an absolute beast. The interior is luxurious and offers plenty of ubiquitous features. The v8 was nice, but you won't miss it once you try this new drivetrain.
My partner has one of these and its good overall. However the screen does cut out a lot and glitches. we also had to replace the plastic around the seat controls 3 times under warranty. Hopefully a permanent fix will come before warranty is out.
18mpg max? Definitely not worth it since the v8 got about 15 max.
I get 20 to 21 mpg on freeway going about 80 passing cars , and about 14 in streets, its a 23 sr5 trd non hybrid, I absolutely love it
I have a 2014 Double Cab 4X4 with the 5.7 V8 with a tonneau cover on the bed and I can get 18 any day. I think Toyota should have put a hybrid system on the 5.7 V8 and dropped the turbos. I was in the market for a new Tundra but I am still not sold on it yet. It looks smaller. That's just me. Thanks for the review Scotty!

@@bradhaines3142 That’s what Tacomas are for. I need something to pull a larger size boat and put 4 people in it comfortably. The new Double Cab is tiny in the rear and is more like an access cab.
The new Tundra is such a massive fail. I can tell you the designers are not truck owners. I haven't seen one contractor driving a new Tundra and that is in Texas. They made these as parking lot princesses and it shows.

No more V6 for Tacoma. 4-cylinder Land Cruiser and Grand Highlander. V6 is apparently leaving the Camry in the future. All turbo-hybrids meant to break.
Toyota is using their past history of legendary reliability now as a marketing scheme. They won’t make cars as reliable anymore.
Keep your 2000’s Japanese car. It will last longer and be more reliable than anything even Toyota puts out nowadays.

I keep waiting but I can't find a tundra that gets as much MPG as my 2003 4x4 with a simple six. It has consistently got 25 mpg since I pulled it off the lot. Best truck ever. The new trucks look nice but have way to much electronics that do nothing more than create a huge expensive repair in the future.
Thanks for the review, Scotty! I bought a new 2024 Tundra Limited a few weeks ago. I got mine without the Hybrid option. I haven't done any fwy driving yet, around town I'm averaging 16.7 mpg. I really like the truck, it's well built and sporty. I paid cash for it. because I can afford it ;-)

Twin turbo = twin headaches.
I feel i got the best Tundra in 2018. Naturally aspirated V8, technology with radar cruise etc, trans cooler (got rid of them in 2019 onward), LED lights, and a regular key 😅.
I disagree with you, Turbo tech has come along way since the 80's.
Ofcourse you think the vehicle you chose to buy is better than anything else.

Complicated…makes me love my 1987 Toyota Truck even more and that’s not an easy thing to do 😉

Yeah my 83' will be restored with a fresh rebuilt 22R by end of September. The world tries to force electric tech too early, I'm going the opposite direction to something I can rely on and know exactly how every component works. Granted in a mountain town it makes more sense than a metro area.
@@SG_88 I bought an 83’ long bed in ‘96 off the original owner. Only had 16,000 miles on it. Paid $2,800 for it, sold my ‘85 for $2,500
Bought my 87 after my 83 was totaled, it’s a 4x4 short bed. It has 130,000 miles was my daily driver for several years. Think I paid $3,000 with 70,000 miles

I dont like how the money is being spent in developing the vehicles in certain places. Elon isnt going to like me on this one but i jusy think tesla gets easily distracted from their goal of affordable transportation. These guys still dont have 1 affordable car and they say they dont want motorcycles and i fear even if they did it wouldnt be worth it. Cost too much, too gimmicky. Fart noisee but the door handles malfunction. Give me 6 warehouses on the same property, 200 million dollars, and a group of really determined guys and we will put toyota to shame. Ill still take a short bed single cab naturally aspirated 4 cylinder
I have a 2023 Tundra Capstone and my last tank of fuel was all city driving. I averaged 9.5 mpg. It’s a torque monster in a 1/2-ton format. I absolutely love it! 😁

Last fill up with our Ram 5.7 was 11.3 L/100 or 20.8miles/gal. Must drive gentle and at or below speed limit
I get a solid 20mpg hwy with my 2008 Ram 5.7 too, driving just like you mention. Smooth and no faster than 65mph. Below 65, like 45-50mph, the computer will show 24+mpg.
20mph under the speed limit on the interstate is not safe and you're manufacturing traffic 😂
@@sixpest😂 go around me, I’m gettin 20+ mpg! Honk honk. I’m only running 5 below worst case. There’s a stretch that I drive that is 45mph limit and that’s where I get 24+mpg.
A truck that size getting 18 mpg isn’t bad at all. I’ll never have to worry about owning one but it is a gorgeous truck.
I average about that with my 5.6L Titan P4X with AT tires.

@@juleswins3 I've had very good luck with them. My 2011 Pathfinder has 148k and the only major repair has been an AC condenser.
The Titan is a great truck w/a 5yr/100k mile warranty. I like everything about it.
@@davec.3198 Yeah even Scotty rates them mid-pack behind Toyota and Ford but ahead of Chevy and Dodge. They are good looking trucks!
@@juleswins3 It would be hard to be behind Ford in terms of reliability. The late model F150's have been an issue from what i've heard from my friends who own them.
Every truck has issues. This is my first truck and it started my search entirely without any loyalty. For a comparably equipped Tundra, I would have spend $10-15k more. That didn't make sense to me.

You're going to love it. I've never been so tempted to drive a vehicle before. I have to practice heavy restraint not to make up reasons to go for a spin, when I'm home and have no particular reason to drive.
@@scorpio_9810 I finally got one! And you are right, it is a pleasure to drive! My work commute occasionally takes along a 90 mile stretch of Hwy 101 along the Northern California coast through forests and prairies with herds of Elk and across rivers in all kinds of weather and road conditions. Yes, I did love my 2008 Honda Ridgeline but this beast is even better! And yes, IT IS A GAS HOG.
My 06 tundra with mud tires and the 4.7 got 22mpg doing 65mph on relatively flat ground with non ethanol gas and 500 pounds in the bed. That being said it also only got 12mpg going up the mountains at 80mph all that with 240,000 miles on it.

How does the Tundra ride compare to the Land Cruiser please. Australia is getting the Tundra next year and I’m considering it as I have a Sahara Land Cruiser and a Hilux and would like to replace both with the Tundra if the ride and quality are up to par. Thanks.

Just bought a 22 trd pro one week in and I love it so far
Just got through taking a 350 mile round trip in my 2006 tundra, 1/2 way empty, the other half towing 3500 pounds. I averaged a whopping 12 mpg. 😮
Tow at s4 or D? At S4 i usually get 12mpg. Not towing at D I get 15-17mpg combined. 19mpg on long highway drives if going 65-70

@@kdaltexno s4 option on a 2006. Only overdrive off, I left the overdrive for on and didn’t have any trouble
My 1/2 Ton Crew Cab Ram got 8mpg pulling 5,000lb tandem axle trailer.
4.7 Magnum SOHC, not a Hemi 392.
Tow mode with overdrive 'Off.'
Killing off the V8 for the Tundra is probably one of the dumber things Toyota has done. I mean GM has done dumb things too, but at least they still offer their non-turbo V8 engines in their trucks (quality is another story, but at least it's an option for those who want the power, without the headaches of turbos; same for Ford, they still offer their V8 model at least for now until they kill off gas engines completely, last I checked).
I guess the only "good" thing is that Toyota didn't do a 4 cylinder twin tRubo because when those turbos go out, any truck with a 4 cylinder engine is virtually useless, especailly a 1/2 ton truck (a small truck like the Tacoma might be fine but not a full-size truck). So the V6 may have a chance of getting somewhere with one or both turbos blown. So it does atl east have a V6 engine, and probably a powerful one at that, not considering the effects of the dual turbos).
I mean at 18 mpg, I guess if you want the Toyota quality that's one thing, but if you're looking for gas mileage, you might as well just get a Ford or GM that's a regular V8 gas engine (no turbo) and likely have fewer (or possibly less expensive) repairs in the future. The biggest issue with some of the Chevy V8 was their AFM system (although it's not found in all of their V8 engines, only some of them, and some of the modern V6's I think too). The older ones from 2010-2015 were the worst.

@@reneeandchrisforeverNo you're right not with a Tundra specifically, but I have with Ford and GM vehicles among others, but the same seems to hold true -- the V6 engines (non-turbo) are not as powerful as the V8's. Period. And for those V6's that are turbo charged, maybe they will have more power than a standard non-turbo V8 but then you are also setting yourself up for some expensive repairs in the future (which will need to happen at some point). Plus people who do real towing on a regular/semi-regular basis (which I have done) tend to not worry too much about fuel economy. It's important, but only to a point. An extra 5 MPG for example is not a huge deal to those who are buying a truck for work because they are buying the truck to do work, not for gas mileage. Only the "wannabe" truck owners are the ones that obsess about this. Plus why kill off something that has proven to be popular and reliable? That's just dumb. GM and Ford know this from first hand experience, and yet they still haven't learned. At least Toyota still uses geared transmissions in many of their vehicles for example (like the Camry, and most of their mid/large trucks).
Im with you on the V8 5.7 for the tundra, the sound and the pull was great, wish that motor and trans and hybrid system was in the Tacoma where it belongs.
You are absolutely right, Scotty. According to statistics, self-charging hybrids are about 30% more reliable than ICE vehicles, and plug-in hybrids are 40% less reliable than ICE vehicles.
Nice truck but I like my old GMC truck with $0 payments, $1400 annual insurance and only regular maintanence. And yeah it drives like a truck not a car.

2016 F150 4x4 with 5.0 gets 18.5 mpg at 70mph interstate but will raise to 21.0 mpg with non-ethanol fuel. But price difference in fuel equates to about the same price per mile.

My 2017 F-150 4x4 with the 5.0 has averaged 18.4 mpg. Gets 22mpg on the highway at 65. I have had zero problems with it in the five years i've owned it. Nothing but scheduled maintenance. Not one single problem.

Scotty I bought a 2023 Tundra Platinum and I get constant 20-21 mpg .Towing I’m down to 28 mpg .And I double check when I fill up and check amount of gas per miles !!!!

Almost a year of ownership with my 2022 SR5 TRD Tundra and surprise, no issues! Still have not towed anything, but I have hauled LOTS of garbage, wood, rocks, mulch. Its a absolute unit. Oh and Scotty, put it in 4H next time you wanna go fast in it, 2wd on it is slow, and uses more gas for some reason? I have a noticeable difference in MPG from 2wd to 4H. A difference of 4 MPG about, right now i'm averaging 17, but I can get up to 22 if I drive it nice.
But seriously, stick it in 4H and sport mode and wooowee!
Are you joking, pranking, or just uninformed about how dangerous it is to be in 4x4 at highway speeds? While most of the time you won't have an issue, a truck 4x4 system will cause wheels to slip/drag due to trying to spin at the same speed when cornering, when actually the inner wheels need to spin slower than the outer wheels. Drive on grass, dirt, or gravel and turn sharp while driving slowly and you'll hear and feel what I'm talking about. Only AWD vehicles are made for highway speeds. Truck 4x4s should only be driven relatively slow in 4wd. Maybe I'm being overly cautious, but that's what I was taught.

I have the 2022 tundra, beautiful truck and drives good but theirs one design flaw. The remote start shuts the truck off after opening the door, all the other manufacturers don’t do that. Steve said soon they going to fix it, but this should have not been an issue in the first place 😢
Toyota and Lexus have been doing this for years. They say it's for some sort of safety reasons (I don't remember the exact explanation).
I'm surprised it didn't spin the tires from a full throttle take off! What the truck needed was the old 4.7 V8 converted to timing chain gear instead of belt. That engine was a lot better on fuel.
Probably would need to turn off the anti-skid.
My Dad had a loaded 2005 Tundra Limited 4 by 4. I still think the 1st gen Tundras with the 4.7 are the best ones they ever made. He put over 400,000 miles on it before selling it off. I’m sure it’s still kicking around somewhere

That 4.7 was probably the worst engine in terms of truck capabilities in the class so how exactly would they make that work when their competitors have half tons that can tow over 10k pounds and have 2000 pound payloads ?

Back in 2008, GMC came out with a Sierra 1500 hybrid pickup that got 20-23 MPG with a V8 6L engine. I own a GMC Yukon hybrid with the same setup with over 205K miles getting around 20 MPG-that with a heavy foot in the Sierra Mountains. That’s with no turbo. Now that Toyota getting 21-24 mpg is not an advancement from over a decade of new technology.
I don't understand why or how they go from a 5.7L V8 to a hybrid turbo 6cly and can't gain better mpg? Seems to defeat the purpose for me.

Minor improvement in fuel mileage. When driving my 2021 with the 5.7, I average 16 MPG / 14.7 L/100. That’s running at 90 Km’s/Hr or 55 Miles/ Hr.

Hate to disappoint but Chrysler had the first water cooled/oil lubricated turbos in 1984! They had no fans that kept running after the car was turned off and did just fine. Fans can fail as can the temp sensors that keep them running..Separate coolers?! Needless complexity, cost, weight, maintenance! 3:16

@@bigmikeobama5314 That is probably true. I think Toyotas are your best bet for long-term reliability. However, in the past, I have seen the cost of ownership is cheaper on a GMC Sierra versus a Toyota Tundra ( probably depends on which years they are comparing) on the average life people keep cars. Their breakdown considered the Tundra has fewer repairs and are more reliable, however, their repairs are more costly than what was required of the GMC. If you count in MPGs, you save more money on the GMC versus the Tundra (old models). Tundra is still a better truck though.

First time buying a Toyota truck and it was the biggest disappointment ever. It was a 2022 Tundra SR5. Cheap plastic everywhere, console rattle,
switches not ergonomically located, hood design relected sun in your face from two places, infotainment that never understood speech, back seat back that folded down(not flat??) with no storage behind, remote start shuts down when you open door(why Toyota) many more. 10 months later had to trade for real truck, 2022 Ram 3500 4X4. I am now happy!!!
I have a 2 wheel drive 2022 limited. It gets about 23 mpg driven normally in eco mode on city streets not the interstate. I have a lead foot at times though. In eco the lowest I have got so far is 17mpg. In sport mode and my lead foot I have gotten about 15mpg as the lowest. Really, not too bad for such a large truck. I am sure four wheel drive gets much lower mpg. I wanted four wheel drive but didn’t need it. I will get a beater if I ever want to go out in the woods.

The thing is Toyota is already on the 4th going to 5th Gen of hybrid cvt combo they've pretty much ironed out the design. Most of their competitors are still on the 2nd Gen

18 mpg is the same milage a friend's PT cruiser sedan got, I was surprised it was that bad, was expecting at least 30 mpg for a smaller car.
Glad i went with my 22' 4runner. The 4.0l is pretty gutless, but atleast I know I will have a long service life.
Love my 5.7 V8 in my 2014 Tundra....will probably outlast me.
What you feel and what actually happens are two different things I think. If you look at acceleration facts when comparing the outgoing Tundra vs this new one, the new one consistently outperforms the old one on every acceleration statistic, by a very wide margin. Just because this new one is smoother, doesn't mean it is slower. The numbers don't lie.

@@michaeldowning7094Engine longevity won't be an issue, because it will likely outlast most other components of the truck, for better or worse. That's pretty true regardless of vehicle these days. Maybe the outgoing 5.7 will give a half million miles, and this one will give maybe 300K, but the rest of the truck will total itself cost wise before then either way.
There is actually a Tundra million mile club. I am hoping to keep my 2018 TRD indefinitely. Towing will put much more stress on a V6 and will likely shorten that 300K with the new one.@@happycamper6352
+4mpg with more torque and hp, pay close to 70k, and have a higher insurance bill ... nah, just gonna live with 12-14mpg on my '11 CrewMax that is set up how I like it with zero problems.
I respect you and your opinions. Have a question I hope you can point me in the right direction. Have a 2007, Tundra, SR5, 4-door. Owned it since it was new. Day 1 mistake was not having an OEM backup camera and display installed. I had a used one from my previous truck, self installed and used for many years until it quit. Replaced with another bought at auto parts store. Now this one is done for. Too late to find a new OEM style backup camera/display. Have some feelers out with junkyards, so far nothing. What do you suggest I do.
Extremely easy solution, get a mirror with backup camera.
Dear Friend, That is what I have now. After many years it failed. Seller out of business. I also miss my stock day/night mirror. I found one that will fill my needs. Has one of those suction cup mounts similar to what was used for GPS displays. Will tap power from overhead console as I did for the mirror display. Thank you.@@MrFlores518
This will make Scotty's head blow off his shoulders: My 2018 RAM 4x4 Crew Full size bed, has got 30.8 MPG over it's lifetime of 125,000 miles..MPG is actual using the Fuelly App, not the built in dash reading ... of course it's an ECODiesel.
Haha only difference is your eco diesel is almost done its life and will grenade shortly. This tundra will still be going strong at at 300,000 miles !

Yeah my new 2023 Toyota Camry LE, has 8 injectors 4 port, 4 direct injectors. I think that’s a good idea for power and cleaning the valves. But amazing mpg with 203 Hp stock I’m enjoying it.
I just think if we think for just a moment, that 8 injectors for 4 cylinders is a clearly bad idea in the long run. That is dumb. 1 cylinder per injector. Even if it needs to be a bigger injector with 2 nossles going into paths to different spots if it was done right. 8 injectors for 4 cylinders is stupid. Port injection keeps the valves clean and works good old fashioned way. Direct injection gets better atomization but your valeves get all caked in carbon so its unreliable to have just direct but you know whats even more unreliable than direct injection? Direct and port injection at the same time in the event you have to replace injectors. Or idk, also having to pay for 4 extra injectors on debt when you take a loan to buy the car when you werent supposed to buy those 4 until the first 4 gave up tbe ghost. But now, now when your injectors go bad youll be buying 8 for your economy car. How many injectors does a ferarri have? Pay attention
I want Toyotas' newest and best to each their own. Mine is the LX, I love the 3.4 tt, I loved it my LS500. No trouble with any of them.
For comparison, I own a 2021 Ford F-150 Powerboost 4x4. Just got home from a 2500 mile trip across the midwest into the Rockies of Colorado. Highway speeds varied from 75-81 mph on the plains and 55-70 mph. My overall mpg was 22.2. In town, I average about 24 mpg. Towing is just like a full gas engine, about 12-15 mpg.
I own the same truck and I get exactly the same gas mileage. 18 mpg in this thing is terrible. Also we get more space under the back seat and have the power on board system.

Should I be worried about my 2012 5.7 v8 ram 1500’s exhaust manifold leak?
It is common for them bolts to break on each side. Have them all replaced when they start breaking.... Or before. It is so common there is a kit for it.
I’ve changed my exhaust manifolds twice on my 2010 ram 1500. Go back with mopar exhaust manifolds, got your stock manifolds filled down evenly because they won’t warp after they’ve been though the first warping cycle. don’t buy dormans manifolds. I put Dorman manifolds on my ram 1500, 5.7 hemi and the cracked down the center and luckily I kept my oem manifolds and had them filled down and evened out.
Seems like a pretty smart design for a hybrid.

A few months ago i bought a new pickup. 2007 4.6L f150 with 130k miles. 4000. The thought of buying a new pickup like this toyo is out of the question - the price they want is just mind boggling.
Bought my wife a new Subaru for 34k a couple yrs ago. Praying we can get it to last a long long time.
Service that 4.6L Ford properly and it will return many, many, many years of trouble free service.

It’s the additional torque that’s the advantage of the hybrid system. I really wish they would bring back the 5.7 and mate it with the 10 speed transmission!
With the ten speed automatic tranny the 7th gear is a one to one ratio which means the last three gears are overdrive gears. I hope it doesn’t start gear hunting a bunch when you have a heavy load in the bed or while you are pulling a trailer. In every video I have watched on the new Tundra this is never addressed.
Why? The old 5.7 offers nothing. Terrible mpg, lower hp, lower torque, lower 0-60, lower towing....

I say yes and they should have done that. Mate that 5.7 to an 8 or 10 speed transmission for better gas mileage and with the rest of the improvements, I think it would have been a hot seller!!
I concur. Toyota had time to develop this before following those stupid new regs, but decided not to. Don't think it was a wise decision.

You're likely to end up with cracked cylinder head issues and cracked manifolds. 😮😢
