Best electric ukulele video I’ve seen so far, thank you so much!
Really helpful...
You're very welcome! 😊
Beautiful instruments! Well done on comparison. Have a great day.
Thanks Maria, much appreciated.
Great comparison. I love the vanguard. Nice to see it played with pathfinder. Thanks
Glad you liked it Bonnie, Thanks.
I’m getting the flight pathfinder for Christmas (probably) and I’m so excited this is my first electric ukulele. Thanks for the vid.
Good choice! Hope you enjoy it when it arrives.
A fun review. Your playing Fly me to the moon just wanted me to hear the Beach Boys. The pathfinder sounded somewhat brighter , but the limitations of “only” 4 strings was apparent for both. Both very handsome looking ukuleles. I would toss that intrusive looking string guide for a string tree on the Pathfinder.
Thanks Jeff. Yes the large string on the Pathfinder would be much better smaller.
Hi Rachel
Absolutely love the Pathfinder, but at the moment i am holding back purchasing one.
I have spoken to Flight, and they have advised me not to buy one because i am left-handed,the set-up and intonation would not be right if i just changed the strings around.
The good news is,that they are thinking of bringing out a left-handed version of the Pathfinder.
I spoke to your very dear friend Alex from Southern Ukulele Store, and he confirmed that they are in the production phase of this model, and Southern Ukulele Store have been involved with Flight on the production.....well done guys!!!
I will be 75 on March 5th 2023,so like you my friend,i could be getting a left-handed Pathfinder for my birthday.
Glad you enjoyed your trip to Bournemouth,so your next trip will be Thomann in Germany. haha.
Love to you and your family.
Lew (ex-Rhondda) and Angie (ex-Aberdare).....now York, one mile from Gear4 Music.
Diolch for the lovely comment Lew and Angie. That is fantastic to hear Flight are going to introduce LH models. I know Fanner make LH ukes but they are a fair bit more expensive and I shall look forward to hearing about your beatiful Pathfinder when it arrives. Gear4Music eh? Any bargains to be had? ;-)
Thanks Rachel. With distortion and reverb seem very similar. But without those effects the flight sounds sharper and the vanguard a little mellower.
Totally agree with you Loree, I was suprised with the distortion too but I think the double humbickers do have a much more mellow sound.
I would love a baritone in the pathfinder style. Hope they make one soon.
Hi Pat, they may well do but Fanner already do - I've put link in previous comment.
Ðere is a paþfinder in baritone now! It sounds incredible!
Hi. Do you have tabs for all your riffs on patreon ?
Nice video, but my question is if you do your own setups on the ukes? Because somtimes they need this. Thnx for responding and grtz from holland
Hi and great question! Generally I try and buy from specialist shops who will check and set up but when I can’t yes, I do set up my instruments when necessary. Years of practice and setups on school instruments helps. 👍
Do you find a big difference in sound between the double humbucker and the humbucker/single pickup combination?
This was my main toss up between the pathfinder and the centurion but in the end o couldn't turn down the looks of the pathfinder!
There is a difference but I don't think it's massive and really you have to go with the looks as well as sound.
I like the classic looks of the Pathfinder. As well as the integrated pick guard. Has anybody ever got a shorter neck electric Bass guitar and ran GCEA strings on it? Is it possible?
Hi great question! I know people have tried to make bass ukes out of smaller electric guitars but I'm not sure about bass into uke tuning. I'm think baritone or tenor guitar but I'm no expert on either of these as I'm not a guitarist. Check out Fanner Elelctric ukuleles as they do all sorts of sizes, good luck with finding an answer though.
I say just buy them all hahaha they are all fantastic! I’ve never had one yet as I have the Risa but I have played all the flight electric ukes and when they are set up properly they sound and feel great!
With you there Chris!
Hi, have u tried the flight Centurian? Great uku. Cheaper than the risa lp too 😁
I have been loaned one by Flight and I’ll be doing a review and hopefully a comparison with the Risa VERY soon.
Yay brill I look forward to seeing what you think of it. 👍😁
Hello! Sorry for the off-topic comment, I'm currently choosing between a bass ukulele and an electric ukulele, I understand that these are quite different instruments, but still, should I choose? now I play the soprano
Hi, sorry for the late reply. The electric ukulele has the same strings as the soprano and you would strum it and play the same chords. The bass ukulele is like a bass guitar to play so you don't play chords, normally just single notes for the bass line. Hope that helps.
Just purchased both of these in the same colours as yours and now awaiting delivery of the Flight Centurion Vintage Burst. The Pathfinder seemed as if it had been standing around for some time as the strings were going rusty just above the nut? I didn't want to return it just because of the strings so the supplier gave me a refund for some new ones. Regarding the Vanguard, the only criticism I have is with the bridge pickup, the outputs not all that strong so I may have to maybe raise it a little and see what happens? Both ukes are set up ok with no sharp fret edges.
Sorry to disturb you where did you purchase the Vanguard from please

Awesome Albert, all great ukes. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the Centurion too compared to the Pathfinder and Vanguard.
Oh gosh, that mellower, warmer sound from the Vanguard may have won me over. In love with the beach look from the Pathfinder but ultimately, sound is more important to me. Thanks for the comparison!
My pleasure and yes, I have to admit, side by side my preference is the Vanguard for sound, those double hum buckers sound so warm and full. 🥰
I’m thinking of getting the new flight mini bass . Is it very heavy?
I’ve recently done a comparison of the 4 mini basses I’ve got. I show the weights of them all. In real terms, heavier than an electro acoustic bass ukulele, lighter than a bass guitar. ua-cam.com/video/uPry3l_uzQ4/v-deo.htmlsi=tojMXXGErjv4OmLn
I just got a Pathfinder and don't yet have an amp or anything. I'm new to the electric side. What would you recommend?
Congratulations Ashley. Any guitar amp or even bass amp would work, it really depends on how much you want to spend or how big / heavy / easy to carry you want the amp. Any thoughts?
I know that I wasn't asked, but the line 6 catalyst is a great amp for the price.
Oooooo i like it!!!
Thak, loved making these with such awesome ukes!
Can’t make up my mind but they’ve dropped the price on the Pathfinder to £180 the Vanguard is £299 is there any reason or difference other than looks to pay the extra £119 ?
Hi Alex, apart from the different looks, they do sound very different and then I think it is up to personal preference on both sound and looks. The prices do fluctuate a little too, I can see the Vanguard has had a price drop at Southern Uke store now.
Loved fligth vanguard
It's a GREAT uke!
But which one? It's for my 13yr old son.
Really does depend on which body shape is his favourite. Pathfinder slightly cheaper but BOTH are great ukes.
It would be a better comparison if you were more skillful in play.
I totally agree. I am still very much learning about the technically stuff with the electrics as I don’t play guitar. There don’t seem to be very many comparisons of these electric ukes so hopefully I am helping and will definitely be trying to improve my playing 👍
@capecapoch 🙄 Oh brother. That'd be a better comment if it were true (vs pointless and ...kinda rude).
I'm new to electric and find your vids some of the most helpful, understandable (and cheering!). Rock on Rachel! 🤘
