  • This was an experiment requested by a customer, who wanted a Flight tenor electro steel string model, but tuned like a baritone. Before it went out to the customer, I made a quick demo.
This is the model in question: worldofukes.co...
I'm happy to recreate this tuning for other customers :)

Always said if I had one of these I’d want it baritone tuning - and you’ve sussed it you clever boy!

Great demo, got to say superb explanation and the sound demo was ace. Never thought solid body Ukes could sound as good. Food for thought. Have a great week.

This was a wonderful soundsample - really like the sound. And your explanation was brillant too.

I’ve never really paid much attention to solid bodied electric ukes but I rather like this set up, thanks Matt for sharing 😊

Your playing there was just plain *cool*. If I ever buy a steel string solid body, I’m pretty sure this is the tuning I need.

Nice job! I play tenor guitar in Chicago tuning (also DGBE), so it's interchangeable with baritone uke and easy to 'convert' chord shapes from conventional six string guitar. I found this video very helpful and entertaining.

Great sound - but I had no idea when you were playing which tuning. You were discussing two tunings and played 3...I think.

All the demo is in the one, DGBE tuning.

I got the same Flight uke as a gift and I've tried restringing it with the same gauges recommended here. While the strings are in tune, the note from the first frets don't line up. I've tried adjusting the bridge but haven't been able to resolve this intonation problem.

They can be a pain, lowering the action can help a bit - but I usually have to lower the nut groove at the tuner side, to create more of an angle. Fiddly.

I wondered about intonation because it's a completely different tuning. Seems this important point has not been addressed by others either?!

@weirdscience6820 The intonation is adjustable so I adjust it.

    Are the strings floppy afterward?

The tension is a little lower.

I wish there sometimes will be a real baritone electric by flight

There is! There's a Pathfinder baritone. I thought the proportions looked a bit odd so haven't invested. But they exist.
