I do like to play poker there, but I'd rather stay at the Plaza since they have better black jack games and video poker pay schedules...which helps to get room and resort fees comped. GN jacks up their prices nearly as high as Derek Stevens does at his properties so I now avoid them for anything other than poker and food.
They may know who you are and will try to upgrade you. You guys have grown a lot over the past year. I wouldn't be surprised if someone with some power hasn't seen your videos.
Mr Ruby’s appearance on the “throne” was freaking hilarious. 🎉 Yes….I would like to see the “entry level room” at the Golden Nugget. Love the videos. Be safe in your journeys.
Ruby, my first two trips to Vegas in 1990 and 1991 for my birthday were at the Golden Nugget. We loved it and our vacation package included a free car rental! Crazy eh? We drove up to Reno for two nights. We had a great time. Every time I'm in Vegas, I have to go into the Golden Nugget for a birthday photo. It's a great hotel and casino. Love your video.
I think you got some kind of accessible room, looking at all the railings in the bathroom. I stayed in the Rush tower (pre pandemic) and definitely remember glass shower doors. I remember the bathroom being a lot more elegant looking than what you showed.
Awesome that you pronounced Neuske's correctly. Coming from a town in Wisconsin not many people can correctly pronounce the bacon. Kudos to you. Last time I was on Vegas Fremont Street it was just being built. The only part of it up was the pillars. I did go to many of the casinos there. When we stayed up in Vegas we stayed at the Westward Ho. Many of the places on the strip are no longer there. Stardust, Frontier, and Westward Ho.
Good review! Many years ago when Steve Wynn owned the Nugget the buffet was one of the best in Vegas. We went to have the buffet shortly after the new owners took over and it was terrible. They moved it upstairs and the food quality was poor. If you choose to do another review, could you please do a walkthrough of the buffet to see if it has improved. Really enjoy your reviews… keep up the good work.
The buffet at the Golden Nugget closed permanently during or just before the pandemic shutdowns. It was not a casualty of the pandemic like many other buffets were -- this was a planned permanent closure. The Nugget buffet was a good deal if you were staying at the property because they had BOGO coupons (or $3 off if solo). I think the regular price was around $15-$16 for lunch the final years before it closed. That said, their offerings were limited and not upscale for those looking for a higher end Vegas buffet experience, but a good value for getting a good fill-up
Only downtown buffet nowadays is at MSS as most joints used the pandemic as an excuse to shut them down. GN's buffet had definitely been heading in the wrong direction.
Steve is about high quality food as he is Vegan. The Wynn is consistently rated as having the best food and # of restaurants in all of Vegas, and every place has vegan options. Win win. You should see how young Steve looks given he doesn't eat dead bodies.
Planning my first trip to Las Vegas in October and I was totally clueless on how to go about it. Your videos have been such a great resource to help plan not just the stay but all the activities and tours I can do in and around vegas. I booked the Golden Nugget for my first stay especially for the pool and I am totally excited and looking forward to it. Thank you so much for putting such an amazing content on your channel!
The Golden Nugget was our choice place to stay in Las Vegas for many years. That was before the pool upgrade and some of the other changes that happened, so we mostly stayed in the Carson St rooms, which were fine. Golden Nugget always had the best rooms at that time and we liked pretty much everything about it. Haven't stayed there in a looooooong time, so it was fun to watch your video, which was great!
Stayed there for a week on my birthday a few years ago. Got upgraded to a nicer room (yay!). A/C sounded like a person running a circular saw outside the window (boo!) Maintenance came up right away (yay!). They then told me "Oh yeah, those will do that, we can't even move you because it happens all over the hotel" (double boo!). So, if you don't bring your earplugs for the Fremont Street noise, bring them for your room's A/C unit. On the other hand, happy hour at the sushi restaurant is fantastic.
Another great review Ms. Ruby ! I've stayed at the Golden Nugget twice in the past (prior to the big remodel) and the kids absolutely loved the main pool. Now that I'm alone, I would definitely go back ! Thanks Ms. Ruby !!
I literally wait for these videos to come out. I just went to Vegas for the first time in October and I literally booked everything I wanted to do based on these videos. You rock Ruby!
I love watching Travel Ruby, but if the title says "I booked the cheapest room", don't take the upgrade. Show us the cheapest room as promised. I stayed in the true cheapest room mid 2022 (Carson Tower) and it was awful for over $100 per night mid week. Filthy hallways, no coffee maker, no fridge, loose toilet seat, a glob of toothpaste on the sink. The most overpriced bare bones room ever.
Agreed, Carson tower I thought was terrible. Our room had plumbing issues and smelled like sewer. For similar (and sometimes even less) money to staying in the Rush tower, I would just choose Circa, it absolutely blow the Nugget away!
It reminds me of when I stayed at the Nugget 30 years ago. It was definitely bare bones and nothing was in good shape. The only good thing I remember was that the public bathrooms were spectacular, but this was back before they redid Fremont so there were no tourists except for the people who used the coupons.
I stayed at the El Cortez Hotel and Casino in 2018 and got a suite for *$17!* No conventions in town, and it was during the off season. Helluva deal! Booked it through Priceline.
This was wheelchair accessible room- that’s why it was so spacious. I could tell by the grab bars at the toilet and the tub. Per code, they have to have certain clearances for wheelchairs to maneuver around the room and bathroom. Typically only about 10-15% of rooms are like that, I’m sure most rooms even in that category aren’t as big. That’s probably the reason for the shower curtain too.
Yes I'd like you to go back and book at the cheapest room so we can see. I absolutely love your reviews. This is the number one channel for all things Vegas in my book!
0:35 we did the same thing staying here! “Which way is our room?” Until we found one side of the table there had a hole cut out for a trash can, which happened to be our side, so from then on we went “to the hole!”
I am not much of a Fremont fan, but I love Golden Nugget. It's actually the only one I've stayed at on Fremont. (Gotta try Circa next.) They did the same thing with me regarding an early check-in fee going towards an upgrade. My room was very similar to yours. I had also booked the room assignment at check-in, IIRC. I love Landry's restaurants, so I love the dining options. The Chart House there was great. I haven't tried the Vegas Vic & Anthony's, but the one at the Nugget in Atlantic City 90 minutes away from me is phenomenal every time I go. The fish tank in the pool is great, although I found out that you really can't enjoy the view in the water slide. It's too fast (which is also a good thing). Was that Diamonds Are Forever at the beginning?
Really fantastic review! I've been to Vegas quite a few times, and I have a soft spot for the Golden Nugget. I've never stayed there, but I've lost lots of money at the casino. It seems like a down to earth option over the strip. Loved the video!
Stayed here years ago and loved it. Everything was gold, even in the rooms. It's nothing the same now but is love to stay there again. The pool is pretty awesome
Love the video as always! Your content is must-watch. As for the biscuits and gravy, my God, it looks like you could have wrung the salt back into the shaker. There was probably more sodium in there than taco bell nachos
You are definitely right about the walkways being crowded in the casino. All it takes is a couple people to stop in "traffic" looking around, and they cause a huge peoplejam
Hey Ruby. I know you include the price on the room and daily resorts fee and tax. I wondering if you would consider letting us know, how much of a security deposit the hotel takes. Weather it’s a 100 dollars a day or 50 dollars a day. I enjoy watching you videos. It has definitely helped me make decisions on where to stay and where to eat in Las Vegas. Thank you. Keep the videos coming.
I've never been to the Golden Nugget in Vegas, but since I live in NJ, and about 60 miles from Atlantic City, I've been to the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City hundreds of times. It was funny to see the casino has the same carpeting, lights, marble, and most of the same decor as the one in Altantic City. But for some reason, the one in Vegas looks nicer. The casino at the Atlantic City GN is small. The basic rooms in Atlantic City have the same leather (well I really think it's vinyl) couch. The bathrooms in the standard rooms are tiny, But the room decor is basically the same color, furniture, etc. The GN in Altantic CIty draws an older crowd. It's actually one of the smaller properties, if not the smallest. Many people think the decor is very dated, even though it only about 15 years old as the GN was originally the Trump Marina, When Tillman Frittia brought the property, he renovated it top to bottom.
We always stay at the golden nugget during edc week and we love it! Always stay at the rush tower with newer rooms and the fridge. Our shower had the sliding glass doors though.
Stayed in the Rush King a few months ago. The big problem we had was not enough electrical outlets. A few were hidden behind a 200 pound end table. Better restaurants aren't open during the week.
Loved your opening tribute to Bond. I love that chase scene, even with the infamous error with the car. I have always wanted to stay here and I believe you have convinced me for my next visit:)
I would stay there. The Steak House looked great. I guess it comes down to comfort in the Casino. Thank you for another great review that was complete and straightforward.
My brothers and I watched many of your videos, Ruby, and decided to stay at the Golden Nugget. We're glad we did! We wanted a classic Vegas experience on The Strip. We were comfortable here and enjoyed our stay for a few reasons in particular: The Fremont Street Experience was the best thing about our entire Vegas visit, and it was right outside our hotel; also Vic and Anthony's was the best meal we had, include our visit to the bar before taking our table. And other than Saturday when we arrived and the pool was sold out, we enjoyed the small but unique pool experience. A few things to know: your room will not be serviced UNLESS YOU ASK FOR IT TO BE DONE! This was very frustrating. The hotel is dated but our room was clean although noisy at night. The bathtub was cracked in several places but the shower worked fine. And I really enjoyed having a Chick-Fil-A in the lobby for a cheap, quick meal. And after a night on the town, a milkshake was a great guilty pleasure to take up to our room before bed! Thanks again, Ruby, for all your great tips in all your helpful videos. Keep up the terrific work!
Their players club gives some hefty discounts for rooms even if you don't gamble at the Golden Nugget. I got $41/night mid week including resort fees. I always end up getting the $30-$40/night upgrade though. It's not that big of a splurge and it felt worth it to me.
@@thaguz100Million yes it was an email offer titled "hot rate special just for you". I've never played slots or table games there. The only players points I ever earned there was from playing poker at their poker room.
They are always sending me emails and I've seen those resort fee waived rates too which is why I was interested in seeing more of the hotel. If they give good value rates yeah I would stay there, and it's good to hear I don't have to necessarily gamble with them since there is no way I'm playing 6/5 Black Jack.
I've stayed at the Nugget several times the last few years. I try & stay in the Carson Tower to stay away from the Fremont noise. The Rush Tower is just too loud. It can be very crowded at night for sure. Vic & Anthonys is excellent. If you're not a pool goer, other places may be better. In February I stayed at the Downtown Grand & really enjoyed it. Ruby, perhaps you could do a review of the Grand. Thanks to you & Mr Ruby for all the great content.
Would love to have a review of the standard room to know what you will be getting. I was tempted to book there a couple times, but was concerned how it would be after hearing how noisy it could get, etc.
Interesting to see your take on it since we stayed there very recently in the same sort of room but higher up a few floors. The room we had was ‘recently’ renovated so it had slightly different style decor although the couch was the same. The full size mirror was in place of where your adjoining room door was. Our fridge was about half the size of yours. Our shower had half glass instead of the curtain. It also had a wall and door for the toilet, so it wasn’t just out in the open like that. The noise even high up was loud enough to feel the rumble of the bass, but it wasn’t clear enough to be distracting, it was actually sort of soothing to tune out other noises. I’ve seen mostly negative things about Carson tower. Maybe your stay will be an update to that? Hopefully they have fixed their issues with it. It really does get crowded on weekends. It’s bad enough where you can’t walk.... BUT even with it being crowded, let it ride and 3 card poker were $5 all weekend. Craps was $15, didn’t play BJ since it’s all 6:5.
I’ve been to Vegas so many times but have never left the strip . I’m definitely going to explore Fremont on my visit in May . Great video as always . If you don’t think Ruby and Mr Ruby are awesome…then you don’t have a pulse 😎😎😎
Slightly off Fremont St. Experience is The Jerky Store, and near the Heart Attack Grill tucked off to one side and kind of hidden is a great toy store. You will also be a short walk away from the Mob Museum, and in one of the men's rooms in at Main Street Station is a section of the Berlin Wall. There is also a free shuttle bus that will take you to the Arts District - check out the Burlesque Museum.
We were there over New Years, first time staying on Fremont. We had your exact room in RUSH and we were impressed. We also loved the Claim Jumper restaurant. I too had the biscuits and gravy and they weren’t the best but everything else we had was great! Vic and Anthony’s is our favorite! I liked it way better than Oscar’s! Love and enjoy your reviews!
I haven't stayed there but played a lot of poker there I agree with you on everything. The drink service in the poker room will almost get you over served if you wanted. It's one of the few places with 5.00 tables anymore but because of that it is so packed.
I stayed there recently and took that upgrade to the Rush Tower as well. It was an amazing room and property! I had a sliding glass door to the tub/shower though. And it took me forever to find the additional electrical outlets that are built in to the desk console! Great update, Ruby!
I would love to see your stay in the cheapest Carson tower room. Also a video of comparing downtown hotels and your recommendations. Love your videos. Thank you
I didn't stay there a couple weeks ago. But business took me there most of one day. I spent most of my time up in The Showroom, which I got the chance to see Frank Sinatra's dressing room (which is still the same way it was when he had it built for him by the casino). I did notice that the casino floor was very cramped, which is like many of the casinos on Freemont as well as the strip. I would like to actually stay there sometime when I return, and actually go for a vacation and not a business trip.
omg finally mr ruby shows his face lol, we where in vegas again this feb for 8 days and watching uou had defo been a great help to explore and eat at new places thanks ruby
Yay! You went to the restaurant I work for! Fun fact! The original Vic & Anthony’s is stand alone in Houston(where I’m at). There are only three other locations and they’re attached to the Golden Nuggets in Vegas, Lake Charles, and Atlantic City.
I went to the Golden Nugget for my first time to Vegas. I played on one machine and won some gas money to take back 😂. I may have to stay here one day. The restaurants are some of the same ones we have in Houston, TX.
Loved how you started the video with the Diamonds Are Forever clip, as we literally just saw it (for the 100th time) yesterday,. And we had recently just returned from L$V and I had a pic from us eating at Oscars Steakhouse in the Plaza where in the background you could see the tilting letters of the Golden Gate sign - which were doing the exact same thing back in 1971 in the movie clip. Additionally, when you watch that scene when Sean Connery does a 'u-turn' at the end of Freemont Street, if you freeze the screen, you can read the street sign where the Plaza (darkened in the background) is getting ready to open that summer. That was 51 years ago. (gulp) So many cool, amazing memories just in the first moments of your video today. Thanks for taking the time to do what you do...and doing it so well. I've sent your channel link to literally every friend of mine over the course of time you've been posting videos. :)
ps: and if you will allow me to quip (based on your first day outfit paired with Diamonds Are Forever), "That's A Nice Next To Nothing You're Almost Wearing..." LOL...and remember there's a fitting Jill St. John comeback to that comment.
Thoughts on Golden Nugget?
Would you stay here?
I do like to play poker there, but I'd rather stay at the Plaza since they have better black jack games and video poker pay schedules...which helps to get room and resort fees comped. GN jacks up their prices nearly as high as Derek Stevens does at his properties so I now avoid them for anything other than poker and food.

hey Ruby! We met at the Golden Nugget on Tuesday! It was awesome talking to you about Fremont! You're such a sweet person! Glad to have seen you.
We always stay at the Nugget. My wife loves the pool
@@jtstacey83 very true. This isn't the first time a property upgraded them.

Maybe poor like you
Great idea

I've stayed at the Nugget several times the last few years. I try & stay in the Carson Tower to stay away from the Fremont noise. The Rush Tower is just too loud. It can be very crowded at night for sure. Vic & Anthonys is excellent. If you're not a pool goer, other places may be better.
In February I stayed at the Downtown Grand & really enjoyed it. Ruby, perhaps you could do a review of the Grand. Thanks to you & Mr Ruby for all the great content.
😎Great Review Of The Golden 📀 Nugget & Love Vic & Anthony & Mr. Ruby On The Throne🚽 Epic
Ruby! This is probably my favorite hotel/resort review you've done thus far. And I've watched them ALL. Big fan! Keep up the great videos.
Thank you so much. I always book my rooms when visiting Vegas by your videos. Your through and always accurate.
I literally thought that was an actual meal waitng on the table at the Salt Grass table when you sat down. LOL!
Love this place ! Great video Ruby 💪🎰 #vegas #casino #lasvegas
Thanks for the tour, always great!
Good Saturday morning Ruby. Glad to see you're doing well. Thanks so much for your review of the Golden Nugget. 😊👍
Good video, Ruby. Have a wonderful weekend.
Very nice review of the Golden Nugget, Ruby! I appreciate your honest evaluation of the property…😉
great vidio! glad you took the upgrade. never stayed downtown when visiting but now i will really consider it. Thanks Ruby!!
Iconic place stayed there when Steve Wynn owned it and was at opening day when he opened the Mirage.. Best intimate pool in Vegas still.
I love your videos they are helpful for different ideas when going to vegas
Cool thanks for the review of the hotel
I’m surprised by the room - nicer than I expected!
You are the best local reviewer. I was unaware of the gourmet restaurant! Looks good, must try!
The lashes are hilarious.....keep them on, always !
Good job Ruby, Liked your outfit. Looking good. Keep up the good work.
We stood there this past summer and we absolutely love love loved it!
Love your content keep up the Great Work🙌🏼
I haven't stayed there but played a lot of poker there I agree with you on everything. The drink service in the poker room will almost get you over served if you wanted. It's one of the few places with 5.00 tables anymore but because of that it is so packed.
Perfect timing, this is where I'm staying in April.
I stayed there recently and took that upgrade to the Rush Tower as well. It was an amazing room and property! I had a sliding glass door to the tub/shower though. And it took me forever to find the additional electrical outlets that are built in to the desk console! Great update, Ruby!
Last time we stayed in the same type of room, we had a sliding glass door to access the shower/tub as well.
I would love to see your stay in the cheapest Carson tower room. Also a video of comparing downtown hotels and your recommendations. Love your videos. Thank you
$43 a day resort fee!!!!! Basically doubles the price of the room. Thanks for letting us know.
I know right? Resort fees are so revolting!
Another great review. Thank you!
Pool looks fun! Thanks for sharing
Stayed there back in November in the Gold Tower, and the room did have a refer and Keurig. Vic & Anthony's was fabulous!
omg finally mr ruby shows his face lol, we where in vegas again this feb for 8 days and watching uou had defo been a great help to explore and eat at new places thanks ruby
Thanks for reviewing this hotel I've never stayed there before but I'll consider it now.😋😋😋😋
Hi Ruby's! Great video as always. I would totally stay there. Looks like a good option downtown. Thanks for the video!
Love The Golden Nuggets old school ambiance
HI Ruby, it was great meeting you at the Golden Nugget.
I would defo stay here looks fab thanks for the vids 😎❤️
Yay! You went to the restaurant I work for! Fun fact! The original Vic & Anthony’s is stand alone in Houston(where I’m at). There are only three other locations and they’re attached to the Golden Nuggets in Vegas, Lake Charles, and Atlantic City.
Stayed there a few times, agree no complaints. Claim jumper servings are huge.
Thank you for this review. Plan on coming to Vegas in July for my moms and niece bday.
You provide great info and tips!
I see you Ruby! Having a Red Bull with your “night cap” - we want to see the evening festivities!! 😂🎉
Thats Mr. Rubys idea of a night cap lol!
Hi Mr & Mrs Ruby Great review & love, love, love your shades😎. TFS from Wisconsin. ✌
I went to the Golden Nugget for my first time to Vegas. I played on one machine and won some gas money to take back 😂. I may have to stay here one day. The restaurants are some of the same ones we have in Houston, TX.
Mini fridge and coffee maker 10/10 for las Vegas
(gulp)
So many cool, amazing memories just in the first moments of your video today. Thanks for taking the time to do what you do...and doing it so well. I've sent your channel link to literally every friend of mine over the course of time you've been posting videos.
:)
ps: and if you will allow me to quip (based on your first day outfit paired with Diamonds Are Forever), "That's A Nice Next To Nothing You're Almost Wearing..."
LOL...and remember there's a fitting Jill St. John comeback to that comment.
