BrewingTV, I love NB products and everything, but I think I can speak for all of us when I say, we're here for Michael Dawson and Jake Keeler getting into wacky situations and making tasty homebrews. It's been almost a year since they were on. I miss them.

I'm pretty sure its been like 4 years since the real BrewingTV. None of those guys work at NB anymore and they will never be on this channel again. You should check out chopandbrew

Do those filled bottles have to be refrigerated? Since you chill the keg in the process of force carbonating.

I purchased one of these, and there were a couple of subtle steps that I missed the first few times watching this video. First, I didn't realize that the purging step was actually different from the pressurizing step. Second, if you don't get the compression clip on in the right position (just aligned with the slit on the main body), you will get leakage out of the slit in the top. This causes a small amount of foam. There actually is a bit of a trick to it. Finally, seating the Foamless Finish on the top of the bottle (the right height) isn't trivial, either. In fact, if you have too much downward pressure, you actually get a bit of kickback as you're filling, causing the Foamless Finish to move up the Last Straw AND eventually resulting in a POP (with possible beer shooting out if it's too close to the top of the bottle) when the pressure gets too high.
I'd suggest that, if you guys could, do another video where you show a more close-up (and slow) view while you're putting the compression clip on. That was one of the trickiest parts to me. Also, if you could, perhaps show a couple of bottles filled in succession, so you can see how to go from one to the next, since I'm likely bottling a whole keg, not just one bottle. Also showing how to seat the Foamless Finish on the top of the bottle (getting it in the right position on the Last Straw) would be super helpful.

Love the way they sped up the footage when filling the bottle. It's misleading. It's actually kind of a slow process if you want to keep foaming to a minimum.

This was a great product but the plastic clip that holds the silicone parts together weakens quickly and no long pinches them tight enough for any pressure seal. Just a heads up for folks looking to bottle fill.

Funny, he didn't pure the bier into a glass to show the head retention! Instead, he drank out of the bottle like some goddam Savage! !!!

can I use that to carbonate my homebrew to bottles without a keg?

  • @joejkd82

beer foamed up the second he lifted the fitting off of the bottle. I'm not sure if this is any better than just using the counter-pressure filler by itself

How long should bottles stay carbonated for? I follow instructions exactly and a few days later the beer is flat:
    1) Purge pre-chilled, pre-sanitized bottle with co2 (keeping the stopper away from bottle so oxygen can escape while bottle is filled)
    2) Seal bottle with stopper and continue filling with co2 to pressurize bottle
    3) Begin filling
*I've tried both options 4a and 4b and still no luck in keeping beer carbonated long term:
4a) Fill up while allowing foam to build up slightly, cap on foam
4b) Fill bottle slowly without any foam to regular bottling fill spot, then cap
    5) Store bottle in fridge until drinking

I love Northern Brewer. but seriously, commercials occasionally with an actual focus on brewing videos would be so much better. Why subscribe to a channel that only posts ads? Make some content if you're going to use the channel.

the beer is going to foam as soon as you lift out the filler. best be quick with that capper, fellas.
    gimmicky for sure.

Why is it that ANY and ALL videos about homebrewing or craft beer, that the people on camera feel obligated to drink a brew onscreen???
It's like, we know that you drink already, you don't need to prove it.

I'm sorry I am not usually in to writing bad reviews but this thing is horrible. I bought it and after spraying myself with beer multiple times, playing with every pressure setting I could think of and wasting one of my most expensive beers by draining the keg trying over and over again to use this thing but resulting in flat bottle beer. I will have to give this two thumbs wayyyyyy down. Not a good buy

    • @misperry
      @misperry 4 роки тому

Ok I retract that it is a complete fail. You have to do things so very precise that it takes a long time. First of all you have to make sure that you get it clamped correctly follow the directions very closely. next to have to slide the seal down away so that when you press it on the bottle it doesn't start the liquid flowing then press the CO2 button to purge then push it all the way down into the bottle and let it start filling if you do this incorrectly it will spray everywhere. Next you have to make sure that your pressures are right you need about 15psi on both the CO2 line and the beer line. then it should feel properly and the feeling will be very slow. not exactly ideal if you're bottling a lot for a bunch of friends

Lol, this add to the last straw must be really useless, the last straw ain't worth a "&&$, I guess NB is really trying to sell this thing to make up for it, read the reviews for this thing and then watch the smooth cut and edit along with the finger screen over the foam section and do the math, 50 bucks lol, might be worth a "$ 5 with free shipping " value to already crap straw

Is the beer in the keg already carbonated ? And this tool only to fill the bottle?
