    Just wanted to say thanks for the video. I assembled mine yesterday just as you described and it worked perfectly. Great for giving beer away and not having to worry about getting bottles or growlers back. Cheers.

    want to thank you for this. I got a beer gun but I have a couple of those stainless caps but I never thought about just quickly throwing some beer into some used PET bottles. This works great for camping. I hated carrying around my small kegs and gas... this is great. We have these 1.5 liter bottles here in Japan and it is perfect to carry along 3 different beers to the camp site. Thanks bud.

    Dude I wish they had like a "clamping" device that could seal over a glass bottle for using this method w/ the ball lock. This is absolutely simple and effective. I''m currently using one of the "deluxe cp" fillers from brew more which is always a big mess and finicky.

    I have use both, I prefer the plastic ones, they last several years, around 8 to be replaced, the metal ones are kind of hard to use because they don't seal perfect to the PET bottles, so they need a o ring and over the time they tend to wear the PET bottle necks.

    Thanks for the video. I like the tail on the cap and that the ball lock works with both the gas and liquid connectors.. I have made a number of 2 liter bottle carbonation caps from Tire Valves and home made beer guns from stoppers and racking canes. I like the all in one solution. Like you, I also tend to swap out my caps for the standard 2 liter cap. It sucks to forget a carbonating cap at a party and try to get it back a few days or weeks later. I would rather not even worry about it and not care about what happened to the bottle after a few cold ones. I also don't worry about the loss of pressure or Oxygen. There is plenty in the beer and as you said, you can squeeze the headspace air out or just drink it that night (what I prefer).It would be nice if someone would come up with one for regular bottles.

    • @HomeBrewNetwork

    Thanks. This worked very well besides for some reason when I fill the bottle it seems to suck the yeast off the bottom of the keg into the bottle resulting in a cloudy beer that isn't coming out of the tap. Could this be the pressure? I did it quite slowly so I'm not sure. Thanks

    Thanks for all your videos Gash - they have taught me alot!! If you swap out the pressure cap with a normal PET cap how long do you think the beer would stay carbonated if kept in the fridge? Thanks again

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  4 роки тому +3

      Well it should stay carbonated for a very very long time, it will lose a tiny bit of carb as the headspace in the bottles pressure evens out, but thats it really. PET are apparently permeable but when was the last time you picked up a flat bottle of coke? Cheers mate!

    • @HomeBrewNetwork

      The gas fitting is just straight from the bottle or gas manifold. The beer line is just a piece of line with a beer or black quick disconnect at both ends, that's it! Cheers!

      @HomeBrewNetwork  9 років тому

      +ludwig fan You wouldn't rinse it out, you can tip as much as you like out though. To be honest if you aren't storing it for a length of time, the star san isnt even needed. Cheers mate!

  • @briankathy2580
    @briankathy2580 8 років тому

    Good on ya mate, great vid: But at the end (8:50 onward) you left me a bit confused. Why would you want to use the other type (normal style) of cap to add some extra gas, when you could just swap back to the gas line on the cap you are using? Does the “normal style” cap handle more pressure than the new one?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  8 років тому +2

      No, purely for the fact that you might only have one of the new ones, and you might want to fill more bottles, putting the other style means you can top up the 'headspace with the right pressure, compared to using the regular plastic bottle cap. Cheers!

  • @Poppy-ub3zb
    @Poppy-ub3zb 5 років тому

    I have some questions.
    How much pressure did you set on regulator when you purged the oxygen out and also when you filled in PET bottle?
    I am afraid of too much pressure when filling in.
    Can PET bottle withstand 30-35 psi if that is serving pressure pushing in the keg?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  5 років тому +1

      Wow never heard of pouring pressure at 30psi? Some PET will handle that pressure, but you dont want to be doing it at that pressure, things would get messy fast. I force carb at 30psi for 24hrs, then drop it down to 12psi for serving. Doing bottle filling like this I'd drop the pressure way down maybe 2psi ish. The beer will still be carbonated at the 12psi, all your doing is filling. Hope that helps. Cheers

  • @colwk

    How long does the beer stay carbonated after recapping?
    And can a filter be used inline with the filler?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  2 роки тому +1

      Beer stays carbonated for ever, until you open, unless the bottle leaks. Yes you could use a filter if needed, I've never tried, but there's no reason you couldnt rig something up. Cheers!

    does it matter if the length of line doesn't reach the bottom of the bottle? does it just mean there is more chance of foam when filling? (i have a short piece of hose but a longish bottle)

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  10 років тому +1

      I'd guess you'd get some foaming yes, but I think if you can maybe tilt the bottle and if the hose is near or on the side of the bottle and take it slow it will probably work out, a small bit of foam wont matter anyway, and to cap on foam is a good thing. Take it slow and the the pressures may keep foaming to a minimum. Cheers!
