I've been using a sprinkle of cinnamon across the top of the soil,,, the gnats usually come in on new plants from the store where they overwatered... It takes a couple of watering to really spread the cinnamon around,, the gnats and any fungus is gone... I do love H2O2 also,, but love cinnamon and the plants find it a treat.. Gorgeous plants btw...
not only are you helping my plants, but your sunny disposition is helping me! much better mood and plants after watching this!!!
you know, it’s such a shame you can only leave 1 thumbs-up 😢
I’d leave way more than that…
this girl knows her game.
I think you could definitely make a series out of fixing other people's plant problems as I'm sure you could help many more people out, great work very entertaining and informative!
I love how comprehensive you are
This is incredibly informative for treating bugs on your plants. Thank you.
I like that you re-used the pot! Reducing waste 👍
Loved this video. You were right to the point with great information! I learned A LOT thanks!
Nice Video! I like how you took it outside to repot and work on it! I do that in the spring and summer/fall and have actually done it during winter when we had a warm spell.
Wonderful video. You are a nice neighbour to help them out. Looks fantastic!!!
This is great! THANK YOU! I love how you explained the "Why" behind what you were doing.
Thank you so much for all of this information. I had no idea about much of this and was reluctant to do anything without the perfect mixture out of fear of hurting my plants. You have empowered me to be able to be a better parent.
Fantastic houseplant tips and advice. That Dracena is really amazing. Sending lots of love and warm greetings from Missouri ♡
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge in these videos. Your plants say so much about your knowledge and commitment to them. The accent is also appreciated!
I have been using 2:1 ratio watering my plants before I bring them back indoors at the end of summer to sanitize the soil. I’ve not used peroxide for spraying my plants- but now I will! Thank you for yet another great video!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this wealth of information!
This was the most helpful video I found! Thanks!
I second the Mosquito Bits! I use them straight in the soil of every plant I have (doesn’t take much), so they don’t just plant jump. Works like a charm.
What a wonderfully instructive video.
Wow. That plant looks so much better! Thanks for sharing
Using it on perlite pre-pot is genius.
Thankyou kindly this was helpful and a beautiful transformation of the plant 🪴 being to witness 😍
So much great advice here Claire! Thanks so much🤗
Super super useful! Thank you!
This has been sooo helpful it's not even funny and I've seen tons of videos. But this is the only one that's clear, concise and includes shopping links to the various products. Bravo
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you found it useful 💚
This is the channel I didn't know that I needed.
New sub!
Great video…..I loved learning more uses for Hydrogen Peroxide and the dracaena rehab was amazing!
Thank you. So helpful! Bless you x
Thank you so much for you tips!
So many helpful videos claire…I have learnt so much and have a healthier plant collection because of your vat knowledge. Thankyou
Great video! You did a fantastic job! That plant is a lucky one! When I pot up a plant, I like to put a few cans up-side-down on the bottom of the pot to keep the roots a bit elevated (I put the dirt right on top of these cans). I loved the risers in the saucers. I did not know they were around. Again, I use up-side-down cans to elevate the pot further from the saucer, if needed.
Thanks so much Claire for another fab video, I was aware of using HP to get rid of fungus knats, but not the myriad of other uses! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you! Yeah it's just brilliant stuff!
Wonderful. Thank you!!
Thank you for those great tips.
This is *super* helpful. Thanks so much!
Great program, thank you!
I’m so happy seeing this. I’m going to go heal my plants
It's great stuff! 💚
THANK YOU, THIS WAS EXTREMLY HELPFUL. I will let you know how my plants make out.
It looks so much better!!

Oh man Great video thank you so much for the info
Wow, I need to do this! Thanks
Thanks for the tips! Will give this a try with my peace lily.
Your cool thank you for helping me learn more about taking care of my plants
This was such an amazing video!
i subscribed. I love my house plants and i would have never thought of hydrogen peroxide. Thank you!
Thank you, very useful
You did such a nice job with the rehab!! Fun to watch
Yay thank you!
Brilliant video, I found this super helpful!
I'm so glad! 💚
Omg this was amazing 😮
OMGosh, great video! thanks
That sounds exactly what I need to do to cure a few houseplants that I overwatered for years and now have white mold. No gnats thank goodness! Hope it works!
Best to treat white powdery mildew is by spraying milk and water mixture and then put the plant under direct sunlight. Kill all spores.
Im mixing up some in my sprayer right now! Thank you so much!
I'm not exactly quite sure how to mix the water in the hydrogen peroxide She said 3 to 1 ratio or four to one What exactly did you do and how should I mix the solution and should I spray it on or should I water my plants with it
Very helpful thank you 🎉
What a huge difference after being repotted! I used the hydrogen peroxide mix often and have found it a much better and economical way to rid fungus gnat larvae in the soil. Thank you for the seed info, I'm definitely trying that next time! Love your channel!
how often should we spray the soil? thanks!
This is great info. Thank you. I have some similar plants to tend but didn't even think of Lowering the root system (what's left of it)
Cheers
Great, informative video! Always love seeing your girl, Yoli.
Thank you! I know, she just loves to help 😂
Useful information thanks😊
Thank you The Jungle Heaven, now I known 🤗👍👌🤗🤗☺️
Thank you,looking forward to it
Awesome video. Thank you.
Thank you!
Thank you for creating this video! I never thought to use H.P. for watering the plants on a more consistent basis.
Thank you for this! Super helpful!! I had no idea hydrogen peroxide was so useful for plants.
Fantastic work there! keep up the great work ☺️
Thank you!
Very good video. One of the best on the topic. Thx!
Thank you 💚💚
Thank you sooooo much! Hoping to save my Monstera and Peace Lillies with this method ❤
appreciate the info thanks 🙏
Very helpful information. Thank you
Amazing tips! Many tks! I'll try it on my brazilian plants.
It’s so happy now!
With my still incipient knowledge this seems to me like a great life saving surgery, thank you very much for sharing this
Thank you for this video. I'll be ordering a bottle. I've only seen hydrogen peroxide used for pest control but never for regular plant care. I'll be trying some of these methods and I'll let you know.
It's literally got so many uses - it's brilliant stuff!
Thank you.
This must be one of the MOST useful plant videos I have seen! ❤
I have a dracaena margarita since 2019. Its doing very well. But a few of my other plants that I had repotted now have the fungas gnats! They came on the soil. I never had gnats before so I am trying to learn how to get rid of them.
I just love your videos 🙂
Thank you so much 💚
I have always used the microwave for sterilising new compost ... this method will be much easier!
Just found your channel looking for info on using hydrogen peroxide. I've never used it with houseplants and really interested in seeing the results. Love your channel btw.
Oooh!!! I’d love to see them seedlings too 😊😊
Keep it up!!! XO
I've did a little seed update in my recent plant chores video last week - the bigger more established ones are the HP seeds 💚
Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤
Hi! I “wintersow” my seeds but I’m going to try this soaking before planting. Thanks!🌸
Thank you for your tips. I am just about off my head with the amount of fungus gnats on my plants just now, even using the sticky traps! I even found one in my tea yesterday!🤮So thank you once again 💕
Try sprinkling cinnamon on the top of the soil, fungus gnats won't lay their eggs on the cinnamon, and will eventually disappear....also, makes your house smell good!
In the US they sell a granulate called "Mosquito bits" it is very effective in killing fungus gnats. I now mix it into my potting mix. But Hydrogen peroxide should work as well!
My plants were doing so well for the past few months and bam…over the past few weeks fungus gnats have really taken over. Repotting and using the hydrogen peroxide seems like the best bet. Thank you so much!
It's that time of year unfortunately - they breed like crazy! 💚
I use aquarium gravel. Just apply a layer over the soil, spray with the 4/1 mixture or Neem oil mixture and the problem is gone.
@@brianhardaway9716 Omg, thank you for this. It would also make the plant look great!
Add boiling water to new soil before potting your plants let it cool spraying top with mix of hydrogen peroxide and water put cinnamon on top. Gnats hate the smell and In makes plants smell good
Great job and video! You’re plant looked so good and you definitely needed that perlite mixed in the soil. I was kind of surprised at the amount of peroxide you were using. I thought it was just a few drops per gallon of water. Also wondering if anyone knows if this is good for ants and if I can use this on succulents?
thank you
Thank you for the info and I love the accent.
Hi Claire! That was really helpful, I'm def doing that to my bird of paradise. BTW, what happened to the plant you treated in the video? Is the infestation over?
This was SOOOOO satisfying to watch!!!! New subbie for sure!!!🙌🏾💜💜💜💜
Also, can anyone here recommend some classes for plant growing/care?🙏🏾 Thanks so much in advance!
Love the "😉" 😅
First Rate! Thanks! 👍👍
Great for our health too! Using food grade hydrogen peroxide.
I love H202 too, such a useful thing. I use it for watering esp. in winter (to prevent fungus, root rot and give the plants extra boost - they seem to like it and grow better afterwards) and to kill fungus gnats. I tried it also on spidermites in soil, but it didn´t work on them - they hid and survived it. I never used it on leaves but will give a try when needed. Thank you for the tips - I can extend its use now 🙂
I also found that H2O2 did not kill fungus gnats. I ended up replacing the soil, but since then I have come across a couple of preventative measures that I have yet to try. They are to cover the top of the soil with either vermiculite or diatomaceous earth.
@Bob Campbell yeah, some fungus gnats always fly away, but H2O2 doesn't seem to be sufficient to eradicate them at all. But it's helpful anyway
Surrounding the plants with sticker sheets works great as well. This doesn't improve the soil however but if you hang those sheets everywhere around the pots then the gnats will eventually go extinct.
No better cure than a good old ladybird or two for the gnats and mites.. they clean so fast..
A taller pot holds less water in the bottom than a shallow pot because there's more gravity pulling the water through the soil column counteracting the capillary action which creates the perched water table at the bottom of the pot. So if length and width are the same a bonsai pot will hold as much or more water than this one. Big pots appear to hold more water because people will up pot from 1 gallon to a 35 gallon. All that's happening there is the plant doesn't have enough roots or foliage to use all the water.
Enjoyed your video, I just brought. a couple of new plants , now in isolation , but I give all my plants peroxide water
