YES! I was so tired of all the organic plant folks on UA-cam telling me not to use hydrogen peroxide on my plants but guess what I’ve never had any gnats since doing so. 🙌🏻
No... that's a classic example of the failing US education system. They don't teach punctuation, and most dummies think that it's not important. But it is important, especially if it changes what you're "trying" to say and turn it into the total opposite! What KAREN meant to say is... "I saw gnats, and I used hydrogen peroxide"
I purchased some hyacinth bulbs at a farm store; when I got around to planting them a few days later, one bulb had a moldy growth around the root area so I dipped it in 10% hydrogen peroxide until it quit bubbling then rinsed in clean water and planted - success!

Very informative, I’m struggling with this right now& I’ve been using your method and peppermint oil too. & it’s working. Wish me luck. It’s my first time growing plants from seeds.
Oh wow i had no idea there was a need to disinfect seeds!! 😮 Great info and im loving the stormy background! Its my fav weather! I even saw a rainbow! Great vid thanks!
Funny that you made a point of clarifying that your background was not a green screen...because I had actually been wondering if it was!😄 Beautiful and moody.👍🏻
This is very helpful to know! I put house plants outside in the summer and am watching for critters they may bring in when I relocate them back into the house for the winter. I'll remember this idea if it's needed!
We could have used this information several months ago when we were dealing with fungus gnats, but it's great information for future use! Many thanks! I also enjoyed your pond build video.
Hydrogen peroxide commonly also has stabilisers such as phosphoric acid in the mix. That is NOT a problem as it just becomes phosphate fertiliser, but it will slightly acidify the soil (as does peroxide anyway), or damage the leaf.
This is correct however food grade does not and is the recommended type for plant use. Make sure ur ratios are exact. I use 1/2 cup of H²0² per gallon of water for healthy plants and germinating. Or 1cup per gallon for fungus on plants. Have used this ratio for 3 years and my plants and lawn are epic!
Thank you for this video! I use hydrogen peroxide in my everyday skincare routine, to include using as an oral rinse. It especially works great as a facial toner. But not once did I think to use it in my garden. I find this video to be super helpful! Thank you for sharing!
Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidizer. You want to be applying reducing agents like ascorbic acid to the skin. Oxidative stress is a major cause of skin aging and cancer.
Love how you address this. I also would like to point out that classifications of Good vs Bad is way too black and white. Even natural agents that are classified as BAD, are used medicinally in certain situations in particular doses or ways. So technically it's not BAD you just have to know how to use certain agents and its applications. Just like crossing the street, or driving a car, or using a knife. You have to develop skills and knowledge on how to interact and do or use these things. Not go through life avoiding interacting and using these things because of the potential dangers associated with them.
I was listening to you AND watching the sky behind you...yes it is stunning to see it changing as you spoke...could tell there was some heavy rain involved with the he very dark clouds only to be rewarded with that partial and very colorful rainbow 🌈 these are a gardeners/farmers gifts to witness...thank you for all the HP instructions and sharing the beauty 🌄🌈🕊️☮️
Hydrogen peroxide is contained in good quantity in rain water. That's the reason why plants grow and thrive better in the rainy season. Even soaking oneself in rain water seasonally keeps the body properly oxygenated and cleanses skin pores the natural way.
Research and testing takes the most amount of work in my videos. Sometimes, there are some things I have to test and try myself before adding in the videos!
I'm in the same boat. I bought some supposedly reputable organic potting mix from a couple different manufacturers to start my plants. I didn't realize until too late that the soil was full of gnats and fungus.
@@itataneyou can also bake the soil…whenever I buy a product I haven’t tried yet, I bake it first to kill off any bugs or mold..or anything bad for my plants.

I use hydrogen peroxide almost every week for the roots, they love it, it’s double oxygenated water! I’ve brought plants that did not have a chance and brought them to just amazing plants from seed to harvest!
Wow-watched your hydrogen peroxide video from 5 years ago and now this one and feel like I teleported 5 years into the future. Thank you so much for your insight in these videos, can’t wait to try this!
If you added aged manure annually or semi-annually with standard compost,, would this help compensate for the hydrogen peroxide depleting the soil? I would assume a heavy top dressing every fall would be sufficient to balance the loss of nutrients. Let me know if this seems reasonable. Of if there is another, better way to adjust this imbalance. Thanks for this great video!
The lay of the land in your video reminds me of the west Texas farm where I was raised. We would look forward to approaching rain clouds like those in the background. A good shower today would mean cotton planting in a few days.

I recently pulled up the grass around my roses to create a full garden bed and the soil smells rancid!! Everything I found for solutions online said to add organic matter. Now I’m wondering if I should try this instead. I already put down worm castings, bone meal, and manure. Would that counteract everything? Also, it’s rainy season here in FL and down pouring every day. I’m new to gardening and don’t want to kill my roses. Any advice would be appreciated.
I have rust and blight, so baking soil. Peroxide on soil surface to prevent blight. BUT-I am hoping to introduce enteromycorrhyzoa to coat my plant roots to protect them from blight.
I use raised bins in my greenhouse and have an infestation of gnats and aphids. After I use Hydrogen Peroxide, what can I do to replenish the soil microactivity? How long should I wait to re-introduce new living microbes? Thanks so much for this info!
Hydrogen Peroxide breaks down into water and oxygen very quickly, so you can repopulate with good microbes the day after applying the H2O2. The best way to quickly introduce good microbes is to brew up a batch of actively aerated compost tea. There are lots of videos on UA-cam demonstrating how to do it. If you don't want to do that, any good finished compost or aged manure application is a good source of microbes. It just takes a little longer.
I used some soil, I guess you would call it from my daughter who has a lot of horses and I believe my planting medium is horse poop, although it looks good it's very dense. I should have probably mixed some Peat or other soil with it, plants look OK but I hope I don't get root rot or something later. What do you think?
I used this as it was supposed to kill fungus gnats around my bonsai tree. It killed my tree!! I was absolutely gutted. 2 days after I put the wretched stuff on my plant the leaves withered and died! I mixed it to the exact measurements and treated my tree as directed. it never recovered.
I 🤔 think I would just use hydrogen peroxide only when I had a pest or mold problem, and I think I would use much less than 1.1, unless I really had a problem. My question is vinegar and water?

Can you just re-introduce good fungi?
Thanks this is a tip! I bet the 8:1 will work great on my microgreens and rinsing my sprouts as they grow as well!
lol at first i was like naaah it cant be....but the more i watch im convinced your Dr. Binocs.
Thank you for sharing this video 🍍
I used this as it was supposed to kill fungus gnats around my bonsai tree. It killed my tree!! I was absolutely gutted. 2 days after I put the wretched stuff on my plant the leaves withered and died! I mixed it to the exact measurements and treated my tree as directed. it never recovered.
Fist video “spray everything” second “don’t do it unless absolutely necessary”
Light, heat, and sound are not chemicals-nor are thoughts, dreams, gravity, or magnetism.
Hydrogen peroxide work in electric way. Steal electrons to bacteria fungus destroying.
Not chemicaly.
I 🤔 think I would just use hydrogen peroxide only when I had a pest or mold problem, and I think I would use much less than 1.1, unless I really had a problem. My question is vinegar and water?
Excellent video and information! Love the delivery, and how about that RAINBOW in the background!?! Wow! Love the speaker and helpful addressing that Everything is a chemical so to speak! ArtographyPamela Texas
