  • Welcome to the Comfee Mug! Use this tutorial to make any fully 3D trees in the anime style! With inspiration from the styles of Makoto Shinkai's films, this tutorial goes over everything you will need to know for creating your own 3D anime trees and foliage in blender. Thank you ‪@DM_Designs‬ for suggesting this video!

    i also wanna note that it's super important to use different tree assets depending on distance. if u have full leaves being rendered in the distance, you're gonna make alot of visual clutter that is usually not visible until trees get close up in painted backgrounds. it's like grass, you really only see the detail close up, whereas its hinted at in the distance

    • @ComfeeMug
      @ComfeeMug  4 місяці тому +4

      @sumicmusic Excellent addition, you are absolutely right! The further the distance, the less detail you need for trees and other objects. Thank you for the informative comment 😄

    I'm not super familiar with the mokoto shinkai art style, but a recommendation: cell shade the branches. I'd probably do this by taking a principle BSDF's output via shader to rgb, running that through a color ramp set to constant, and using that to apply value to the base albedo texture/color.

    • @ComfeeMug
      @ComfeeMug  4 місяці тому +2

      @S41L0R That is a great suggestion! I will go over this in much more detail when I make a fully dedicated tree bark tutorial in the future. But yes! Definitely play around with how you would like to shade your trees in the meantime 😄

    Awesome vid, just an FYI. As I was doing the same things you were doing I would click on other objects and lose the pop up menu of the Tree Sap Gen, the way to quickly restore it is by going to Edit and Adjust Last Operation , or F9 key. That way you do not have to redo everything .

    My leaves are quite fragmented even though I copied 100% of your tutors (even the color is different, I used the color code you gave).

    • @ComfeeMug
      @ComfeeMug  2 місяці тому

      @DauXanhGaming I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not sure why that might happen. Maybe the units we're using are different? I used the imperial unit system in my tutorial, so that might be why the leaves are so fragmented. And as for the color, I forgot to put this in the video, but I had my color management in the render settings set to "Standard." The default is set to AgX, so that may be why the color is different.
      I hope this helps. Again, I'm sorry you ran into so many issues while going through my tutorial. Let me know if you have any more questions, I'd be happy to help.

    • @ComfeeMug
      @ComfeeMug  Місяць тому

      @exhaustnotemusic5835 Thank you, I really appreciate your support!! You can either use a turbulence field to animate the mesh or animate the texture directly using the mapping node's location and rotation controls. In both ways, you will want to take away the object info node so that the leaves look better when they move.

    Nice tutorial tysm....... But i have one issue when i connect color ramp alpha to fac and change blend mode and shadow in option to alpha hashed then all the leaves disappear ...pls help me i stuck in last step i want to finish this so that i can move to you next tutorial

    • @ComfeeMug
      @ComfeeMug  3 місяці тому

      @grfki196 First, I'd like to say thank you so much for going through my tutorial 😊 The hiccup you're running into may just be an issue with the leaf alpha's placement, or its final color ramp values.
      I would recommend plugging the spherical gradient in your leaf alpha setup into the material output directly so that you can see exactly where the center of the gradient sits on an individual leaf. You may need to adjust the placement of it to be more exact than I specified in the video.
      If the problem persists after that, go to the final color ramp in the leaf alpha setup and slide the white value more to the left. This will ensure that what is fully white in the alpha setup will be fully visible.
      If the problem still continues, and none of the previous tips helped, then it might be a problem with the render settings. You may need to increase the viewport render amount a little to see things in the alpha hashed mode. Before doing this, though, I would recommend changing your pending modes from alpha hashed to alpha clip. This gives a much harsher look for the edges while reducing render processing power needed. If your leaves show up in that mode, then it's probably just a render settings problem that can be fixed by increasing the viewport rendering. It should be the first option you see in the render settings tab. It will say something like,
      "camera: (specific number)
      viewport: (specific number)"
      I hope this helped! But let me know if it doesn't and I will try troubleshooting some more. I hope you are well, my friend 😁

      @ComfeeMug  4 місяці тому +3

      @kartikart3257 Great question! There are two ways I know how to add line art for characters and objects, and it will just depend on what style you would like. There is the "back-face culling" option that can be seen from any angle in your viewport, but has sharper edges. And then there is the grease pencil line art option that can only be seen from the camera view, but will give you much more exact and rounded edges that are fully customizable.
