That’s why we as Kiwis support The Salvation Army Liz and Ginger we all donate old clothing, shoes, furniture to help support needy families.
I went to Milford primary in '88
I lived in forest hill....and would BMX to school every day.....even in the rain
such a kind community and country, I want to be part of it. I feel like New Zealand is calling my name
Thank you for being with us and for taking the time to say hi 😊
I live on the North Shore. The quality of schools are fantastic. We were actually out of the country when the big Jan 23 floods hit Auckland. We got some carpet damage in a bedroom with the volume of water flowing through the section but were very lucky compared to a lot of others. Love these stories of people being brave to move and choosing our country to live in.
Ginger has a Kiwi attitude about her, she'll fit right in. I always think that even though we have these sorts of traumas in our life, it all adds to our experience and memories, these moments always bring out the best in people. Good luck Ginger and family.
Thank you for your kind words! What an honor to be recognized as someone who has a Kiwi attitude. ☺
She is one in a million 🥰 We are very lucky to have her and her lovely family!
@@gingerkrconly you're not quite there, it's "honour" we'll have none of that American spelling😉
I’ve been working on my NZ spelling, but UA-cam actually autocorrected it back. 🤦🏻♀️
@@gingerkrconly if you look in the settings menu, find the keyboard settings, I think you can change it to UK English, I suspect yours is set for the US. I imagine it will take some getting used to as there's a surprising number of spelling differences between them, well done for giving it a go.
Imagine if you had brought that old gramophone with you and it had been destroyed, It is so sad that your first experience of New Zealand was disaster rather than an awesome summer of discovering a new land like it should have been, but I am glad it helped you find the community you were looking for. Hopefully it will be a mild winter and the next summer will be better.
Yes! I'm so happy the Brunswick is being appreciated back in CO rather than in a contaminated bin. Hoping for a mild winter as well.
Thank you Chris 😊
You found anther good one Liz. I'm amazed by how positive Ginger is. A great addition to our communities.
Thank you. We're so fortunate to be part of the NZ community as well as Liz and Brian's group.
100% right! She has a true kiwi attitude, we love her! 🥰
Great vid, also hats off to Ginger... your pronunciation of the Auckland suburbs was awesome.
I hope you are settled in and that you sound like what NZ needs. Kia kaha.
From an expat living in Brizzy. Brilliant.❤
Thanks Sam! 😃
Shoutout for going for the redbands, sign of keeping a level head during stress 😂. Jokes aside what a frustrating set of events while moving, it seems your community on the north shore really helped them out though. Props to you all for that 😊
Ha! It won't be official until I mow the lawn with them on. 😜
Thank you for being with us Ben and for taking the time to say hi! 😊
Ginger, thank you for sharing your amazing life story. We are sorry about your cat.🥺 Tx goodness all of you are doing great and recoverd from such a scary start in NZ. As the say.."what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". 💖 Best wishesh from Canada🇨🇦 .
And Liz, as always, you are so kind.💖 Another amazing interview.👍
Much love to 🇨🇦 from 🇳🇿 !!
Lovely to have you with us Renata! Thank you for your kind words 🥰
Ginger, you and your family are welcome to become kiwis. Your attitude, care, and support is exactly what we need. Auckland's wet in winter, so buckle down, but please embrace all the love you'll receive whilst here. ❤️
Wow! what an absolute gorgeous woman Ginger is. Would have loved to have met her family too. Great addition to the Kiwi whanau. Welcome lovely family.
So thoughtful for you to say so! We're so honoured to be part of the Kiwi whānau.
Thank you Ivy, you are wonderful 😊
Wow ginger that is definitely an adventure , I’m loving that you guys have settled in Auckland my hometown too it really is the heart of the country it is a beautiful place as well as the rest of the country. Can’t wait til you get to see a proper kiwi summer👍🏼
Thanks for such a lovely comment Sam 😊
Ginger is a petal isn't she? How lovely! The family have defs been through a lot since moving to nz. As usual Liz always so lovely and kind, enjoy your week doll🥂🌈😁
What a lovely comment! Thank you. It was truly a joy chatting with Liz and sharing our story.
Thank you my lovely friend, always a joy to see your name and comment. Have a fabulous week 🥰
Loved this podcast, Ginger seems so great, and so does New Zealand! If I were younger I would move there!
You could come and live with me Sherry ❤️
I'm doing a catch up of a few missed videos, great yarn between Liz and Ginger. Welcome to NZ Ginger and family although you've had a rough start onwards and ups wards to hopefully a wonderful life here. Also nice work on the gumboots 😂
I was on this large project in Wellington , and our system integration team was majority "foreigners ".
India, Argentina, France, China, Philippines, Samoa, Hong Kong, South Africa. Has I guy from Egypt briefly.
In the wider organization, Germans, USA, Canada, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, Cambodia, Ukraine, Scottish English Welsh, Ireland and Northern Island. Finland , Norway. Australians and Australians on the project team. Can't believe I forgot Australia. Fijian, Tongan, Even Tahiti, although she was adopted and came to NZ as a young child, so does that count
Great vid, it brought a pang of memory back for me, in so far as - I dated a pretty woman from Minnesota about 5 years ago, but the plans and break up happened when covid hit and I ended up back home in NZ. Her first degree was librarian and then she did computer science and ended up in IT. Hadn't thought about her for a few years till now haha.
Once you get time, I thoroughly recommend you hire a large campervan and do a 10-14 day road trip, either around the Sth island slowly, or all over a bit faster. You will not regret it.
For an awesome day/evening trip if you guys are into LOTR, do the evening banquet at Hobbiton (about 4 hours drive from the Nth Shore of Akl). Tamaki Village Rotorua dinner, if your into long walks, NZ is full of the most beautiful half day to week long treks. With lots of bicycle routes where if you plan it, there is a growing amount of where you can camp, or better rent hotel rooms and cycle from hotel to booked hotel where you cover the kind of distances you like. Beaches everywhere, skiiing winter in the Sth Island is divine... enjoy your new life, your most welcome here!
What a fabulous comment Paul. Thank you so very much! 😊
You are both great women, but Ginger WOW, good on you, I wish you and your family the best in life xox
We all become to attached to things we've had for years. But when moving overseas it becomes like excess baggage we just cannot let go of, especially the old vintage gramma phone.
What's Colorado like after cannabis has been very available to those over 21? That's amazing bringing two cats because we all know poor felines don't take it very easily getting transported to a new surroundings. Taking two cats from NZ to Melbourne was stressful for two cats. They put themselves a box and sat in it for a week without wanting to move.
After the misfortune of being flooded out by sewage I'd have a complete nervous breakdown!
Ginger scores 10/10 for showing a relaxed personality after the shite they've been through.
What airline did you transport your cats with if you don't mind me asking and what was the experience with them?
We have a trip planned with 3 cats from Australia back to NZ, its a scary process with animals involved.
@@youngrokkim6182 I can't be 100% sure but it was probably Air NZ from Wellington to Melbourne. I was already in Melbourne and my partner of the time organised it in Wgtn.
In Melbourne we kept the cats inside for a few days. When Darcy was let out in the backyard he jumped the fence and disappeared. We put posters on posts around the block with his pictures for a couple of days and heard nothing. However after a few days he suddenly reappeared at the back-door and scoffed down the food. We reckoned he jumped the back fence and hid under a garage nearby until a bit of fear was gone in his new environment and hunger drew him back. If you move cats you need to keep a close eye on them until they start feeling safe in their new environment.
Good luck.
The
@@robert3987 thank you, glad he came back in the end :)
Our cats actually did quite well with the transport, even as older cats. One held a little grudge, but came around pretty quickly. The other one (sadly the one who passed away) seemed unscathed by the whole thing and just settled right back to his old routine.
As far as Colorado goes, the only thing that's changed is the oversaturation of the cannabis market. It seems to be like any other budding industry (good pun, eh?) where a ton of people jump on the bandwagon and then the more profitable businesses end up cornering the market and the others fall by the wayside. I think it'll end up as corporatized as everything else in the US, unfortunately.
Lovely story Ginger x
Thankyou both beautiful interview xxx Love and blessings to you and your whanau Ginger xxx Arohanui xxx
Thank you! We feel so fortunate.
Thank you so much Mich. Arohanui to you too 🥰
I was so proud that the rubbish depot places offered the free service to help get rid of the debris.
It was definitely crazy weather in the north island this summer, we visited our daughter finally after almost 3 years due to COVID and in all the years that we have been traveling to NZ this was the wettest that we have seen . Seeing all the damage and loses that lots of people had it was very sad . Our return flight got re schedule twice but we finally made it back but are already planning the next one and hopefully made it permanent in a couple of years .
Thank you for being with us and for sharing your story. We hope that you were able to have a lovely time with your daughter after 3 years 😊
It can only get better now for you.
Auckland is big but at one time it was North, South, East and West and then it became a super city.
Thank you for watching and for takin g the time to say hi! 😊
welcome to the sacred land Ginger, sorry about the weather
Great podcast! Would love to hear her story of bringing pets to NZ. I want to bring my beloved cat Miss Marbles to NZ but it fills me with anxiety.
The biggest thing to look for is the shots required. I married a girl from San Diego back in 2000 and packed her off to New Zealand in a bit of a hurry. From memory, her dog did not have Rabies shots up to date and it needed I think, 1 month after shot before it could go into a kennel in San Diego where it stayed for 4 months, then 1 month in a kennel quarantine in NZ. You would need to do your research for cats, and if the shots are documents properly, and you can time it right, the quarantine might only be 1 month there, 1 month here in facility. Ours was much longer because of circumstance of ourselves more than the dog.
NZ is extremely protective of its bio borders. We are the only major country in the world that has never had Mad Cows, and never had a case of a honey bee disease that is wiping out bees elsewhere. + other factors. Dairy is our biggest industry with the worlds largest dairy company etc. So they dont want to hurt the golden eggs.
@@paulprice1705 Thank you so much Paul. I appreciate telling me your experience. Thankfully my journey to NZ will be in 3-4 years so learning all this stuff this early will help tremendously.

What a drama! I feel exactly like Ginger describes feeling prior to leaving, being about 15-20 years older than her so I’m working on retiring there, which seems even harder.
Does anyone know what bins she’s mentioning with the move? I’m vacillating between bringing some stuff and going completely nomadic with nothing, but dreading the expense of having to repurchase EVERYTHING.
Anyone that’s made this type of move know what bins she’s mentioning or what moving service she used? Thanks in advance!

Hey Liz, there’s been a lot of focus on USA vs NZ. That’s great and there’s probably a lot of Americans in you private group. But what about Europe or other parts of the world? Maybe have some other people on the show? It’s been enyojable to listen to nevertheless!

Hi Reynaldo, thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to reach out. We are not able to give immigration advice but we recommend NZ Shores to help you with that. The first step is absolutley free. You take a short assessment and they will advice if based on your qualifications you have the necessary requirements to come to NZ. The team there are super friendly and I am sure will help you in any way that they can. Here is the link to the assessment.

Perhaps you could answer the question "why not go to Australia why NZ?"...perhaps NZ is easier to get in?
Hi Chris, thank you for watching and for saying hi!
In answer to your question, it’s a very personal choice. People choose New Zealand over Australia for lots of different reasons. The weather, the fact that there are no bugs, jobs, family needs etc…
Hope this throws some light onto your question Chris.
Have a wonderful week and thank you again for being with us ! 😊
@@ItsaDrama Yes fair enough I was actually born in the Manawatu and know of the plus side of NZ for example rivers and beaches within 1/2 hour drive. From the US I would have thought Australia might have been the choice was just wondering if a comparison done and NZ won out?

Tell Rosie Parker about how kind and caring Kiwi's are. As a kiwi I strongly advise biological women to avoid going to New Zealand as they will be putting themselves in danger. In Great Britain New Zealand is being describe as the most dangerous country in the western world for woman.

As a maori l feel that if l was able to vote in the American elections, there's a strong possibility (for personal reasons) I wouldn't have had a problem giving my vote to 'that' person...(DJT)
The current administration seems to believe that 'lawlessness' is acceptable.
I wholeheartedly welcome Ginger to New Zealand and wish you and your family all the best.
To get here, there were 'security hoops' you had to jump through in order to satisfy New Zealand Immigration.
I mention this simply because the current occupants at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, no longer seem to care about the porous nature of the US/Mexico border and have ceded control of it to the Mexican cartels, (who incidently...have a strong influence politically and financially over a particular voting block in some US States.
I can't for the life of me understand why any person of sound mind could 'responsibilly' consider 'THAT' current puppet as a second term candidate for potus either.

Its funny how people see things from different perspectives.... I for one think very poorly of Jacinda and her political life. But compared to other countries leaders.... Our leader/ former leader might seem like a saint. We not from auckland have similiar feelings about aucklanders. But in general our country is a wonderful place. Too sad that bits of it lay in ruins right now
Yes, perspective is key. When we came here we heard many complaints about Ardern and her cabinet and they were quite valid. Where we came from, though, there’s members of the government who are actively trying to dismantle democracy so Ardern definitely felt like a saint in comparison.
