Builds like this are great for kids... in a good way. I put together an optiplex case swap with a i5-3570, 1050ti, and 16gb DDR3 1333mhz for my 8 year old daughter. She was OVER THE MOON when I gave it to her. It plays all her favorite games, the RGB fans look cool to her, and most importantly... she now has a PC like mom and dad do. And for the games she plays, it'll hold up for years. We just beat the Co-Op Campaign(?) of Portal 2 together, and we had so much fun playing it.
That PC won't last past next year, Windows 10 support ends October next year and that computer won't support it, unless you want to change to Linux, you'll basically need to get a new computer
Great budget build! I have seen the Zeon board combo kits used a little. Be interesting to see how much performance you could get from these kits. Enjoyed the vid!
I feel like build from 0-800 are the best and most realistic, like if you think about it most people aren't gonna spend more unless if they specifically are looking for a component that's expensive for some purpose like streaming, video editing or something
That's for sure! Most people are casual gamers who will be more than happy with an inexpensive machine like this, upgradability is not that important at this price point. Only hardcore enthusiast would spend more money, and not necessarily because they need to.
Iceberg Tech posted a video earlier today where he built a £200 ($254 USD) PC with mostly used parts consisting of an RX 5500, Xeon E5-2680 V3 CPU and dual channel 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and he was getting 95 FPS on Fortnite at 1080p Low, 61 FPS on Cyberpunk at 1080p Low and 67 FPS on Red Dead 2 at 1080p "DF Console Equivalent settings". For $200, used is definitely the way to go. It's crazy to me when uninformed console people act like you have to spend $1,500+ just to get a half decent PC. No, $200 isn't gonna get you super far, but it will do more than what a lot of people think it can do.
@owenj2394 Absolutely. That console has aged way worse than the other current gen consoles. Sub 1080p resolutions and 30fps limits are very common with that thing now for newer games, not to mention certain features being left out like Baldurs Gate 3 not having splitscreen support on the Series S for example. PC also has better and more frequent sales, and you don't have to pay to play online like with the consoles.
Xbox series s is the newer console mate, my xbox one s couldnt handle mw2 campaign yet alone the new mw3 my series s handles mw3 above 60fps at 2k resolution which is the max my tv will allow for
Love these series, I would love how you would progress a budget pc like this after saving up another 100-200$ as it would bring good examples how to go about it for someone who has a working well enough pc, but would like to play a newer game or at higher quality :) Cheers
Nice build! But just to add, actually some of these Aliexpress motherboards only have one, if any, SATA 3 ports, meaning SATA SSDs will be capped in bandwidth if connected to a SATA 2 port, so going with an M.2 SSD is actually a better idea. Some of these boards run at PCIE gen 3 speeds in the M.2 port, so budget NVMEs run at their full speed.
I've got a pretty monstrous system (7950X3D, 128GB of RAM, RX 7900XTX + RTX 4090 passed through to a Windows VM), but I do still like watching budget builds like this a lot. Might pick something like this up to use as a server or something

it costed me $262 with the exact same build as yours
closer to 250
You could've got the Intel Xeon E5-2650 v4 bundle that uses up to DDR4 2400MHz RAM instead for same/similar price.
That cpu can only boost to 2.9ghz. The one I chose is 3.8ghz. For gaming, I’d rather have this one.
@@JasonWitmerYT E5-2650 v4 is a more powerful CPU + I'd rather use DDR4 2400MHz RAM than DDR3 1600MHz. You'll get better performance for similar price for gaming, productivity.
I'm new to this... Looking online I see that the GT1080 is rated slightly better than the GT1070 yet is priced about the same for pre owned models on eBay, is there a reason I should prefer the GT1070?
There isn’t, but you Might be looking at the wrong cards. Be sure you are looking at “GTX” and not “GT”, without the X, it’s literally like ten years older so just be careful. Yes the GTx1080 is significantly stronger than the GTX1070
@@JasonWitmerYT I understand, I see now yet eBay must have already corrected me automatically because I looked up GTX1080 and got the same results as before, about the same as the GTX1070, so i will be going for that instead.
Appreciate all the help, I'm bringing my old computer back to life based off this build! Will be getting the motherboard combo for sure. Thanks alot.
That’s awesome, have fun and thanks for watching!
I wonder how much this contrasts with a simple Xbox 1S
Amazon after hearing the sponsor why did u save their money!!!
Love the content and I absorb all the information I can get and find and don’t have a lot of money to spend on a new high dollar game pc and been wanting to get a budget pc tower I could play games on and I was wondering if it would make sense for a new cheap build or if it would make more sense to just buy a used pc like a OptiPlex pc and upgraded it as I don’t care about RGB and the pretty stuff just want to have a fast machine that can handle everything games and surfing and videos smoothly so any help is greatly appreciated 🤙
Can this handle fivem (gta 5 roleplay)
Yep
If you went for A B450 and A Ryzen 1400 it would be much better for a little bit more
all costs 268 bucks still good for a pc but he must have gotten some discounts and i'm not complaining.
