      ive have ruined a I7 7700 and board with a Smart PSU ,( its a really bad idea) , OEM motherboards many times only support certain CPU from a generation especially if they are that old,(generally 3 to 4 per gen.) the board you purchased may worked just as it should, (very irresponsible), you could have purchased a Rosewill tower and PSU together any day of the week for 50$ and a rx 580 sp as a normal rx 580 is over 150 watt and shouldn't be run on a 450 watt PSU , (very bad GPU chosen for the build do to power draw especially with the PSU you chose) , and Allepress can get you a X79 board in less than 3 weeks, basically new(kinda reman like), as far as ddr3 unless you just put it in the trash i would assume some is laying around somewhere(i know i do), 30$ for a 1 TB NVME and 20$ OEM Op. system and a 4 Ghz, 8 core 16, thread Xeon 2667 is 15 $ every day of the week, thats 200 $ and will hold you over until get the 200$ for a RX 6600 upgrade, but that is as far you could take it sensibly, the Rosewill Helix i believe has been put to use by OZtalks successfully . You might try again with a solid plan , might make a good follow up vid, and lead you to the pride found in honest humility rather than the LTT impression .(finding new and inventive ways for justifying your own short comings ) GTX 1660 would be more balance upgrade for the build though , and could actually come real close to fitting the 200$ build but it would take a few weeks of bargain hunting on that GPU, but it would run Alans Wake 2 okay (30 to 40 FPS) do to mesh shader compatibility not to mention NVENC hardware might make it worth waiting and finding a auction bargain (75$ instead of the Allexpress 50$ 580 SP) .

      First, grab a dell tower with components still inside, either found in schools or workplaces, just ask if they need it anymore or if there's one they don't use. Then, find a cheap gpu on the FB marketplace. Lastly, get some ram sticks to get some more power.

    10:50 This is exactly why the 'working' Dell Optiplex 3020 (LGA 1150) upgraded with a Xeon 1270 v3 or similar is the much better choice just like you said. PC building from scratch with used parts can be very time consuming and stressful when something goes wrong. Upgrading a working Optiplex can eliminate a lot of that Enjoyed the video.

      @@ronaldrusev8622 Airflow in a Dell Optiplex and temps while gaming? Terrible, a major problem with anything above an I5. However, I personally solved this problem on my second computer, a Dell 3020, along with undervolting the GPU and adding intake fans to the front and side panels I replaced the stock 80mm CPU fan with a 92mm Sunon brand fan attached to the heatsink with heavy duty zip ties and powered directly from the PSU. CPU temps never get over 70C even during CPU demanding games.

      @retroreanimated4322 21 день тому

      @@someguy5977 That's very true, a 20" box fan would certainly do the trick. Dust and geckos getting into the case would be a problem. Ended up replacing the side panel with a custom DIY panel, ie. a dust filter attached to an aluminum frame, attached with magnetic tape, then using nano tape, attached two 120mm intake fans and one 120mm extraction fan. Yet it only helps with cooling to some degree and not too pretty either 😅.

      @@retroreanimated4322 I had a Sony Vaio laptop 20 years ago that had a defect that made it overheat and shutdown during gaming. It got gradually worse over time. A laptop cooling plate helped for a while, but when things got worse I turned a boxfan on it's back so it was blowing straight up, then put my laptop on top of the fan. Had to put the box fan on a end-table that was turned on it's side to allow for airflow through the fan.

    Sorry you got flamed for your choice of power supply. Around 6 years ago I recycled an old office PC from work that had a bad hard drive, built a gaming PC out of it using that power supply! It still runs to this day and my house hasn't burned down haha. Yeah I could've just thrown in a better gpu and called it a day, but moving all the components into a new case adding new fans and a cpu cooler was a much more rewarding experience. Such a rewarding experience that it renewed my passion for building PCs, something I hadn't done since my late teens/early twenties! Now I've built a much better gaming rig and currently saving for a high end PC on the AM5 platform. Thanks for the video! I love seeing people push these budget builds!

    Just a minor comment: I would have gone with the Cooler Master case... Since it's a DIY build, and it will probably be upgraded from time to time, it's my guess that a case like that would provide a smoother upgrade path towards more modern hardware... But can't blame you for picking the other case for the color though... I too sometimes wish more color variants would be available in the entry level market..

    You've basically built my 2012 gaming PC lol. Funny thing is, I was building it at the time on a budget too and picked the Xeon as it was comparable to an i7 3770 but at like $50 less. I had 760 in it that I eventually upgraded to 1070, so GPU is different. But the general idea of "at the time Xeon was the cheap way to get performance" persists today which I find hillarious.
    BTW I have that CoolerMaster case and the side panel is acrylic or some sort of transparent plastic. I genuinely scratched it while unboxing it. Also if you buy it, remove the power button assembly and dab some hot glue (just a bit) on post that hits the microswitch. Unless they made a revision of it in the last 2 years, the spring is easy to snap, but with the hot glue you make a stopper before the point of no return. I had to 3d print mine to repair it and that was on the second press of the button. Neat case but really cheaply made, wish there was a high end version of it with thicker metal, tempered glass and beefy front IO assembly.

    4:58 well for one it's a flower cooler design, which is basically just a bunch of aluminium sheets pressed together at the base and then shaved off to make the cooling block. It's a very cheap process.
    Also, tip on PSU for the future: the Kolink Enclave series are incredibly cheap 80+ gold fully modular (!) PSUs that retail for as low as $40-50 for the 500W and 600W versions, *AND* they have a B-tier rating at Cultists Network, which is a *very* respectable rating. I build a 200-225$ PC for gaming and coding and used similar components(For example basically the same SSD and CPU Cooler), but I took a cheaper Power supply, Gigabyte GA-A320M-H(Rev 3.1) Motherboard, Ryzen 3 PRO 4350G CPU and 16Gb of GSkill 3200mhz RAM. Now I use integrated Vega 6 CPU and it handles most of online games at medium settings 720-1080P(COD Warzone 2.0 +-30-35 vFPS on low graphics settings and Warframe 60-65 FPS on Max settings). Also that motherboard has a feature to set up to 4GB of Vram for integrated graphics, and it has a big impact on performance. And Now basically I can upgrade for smth like rtx 3050 for better performance and enjoy it with my 200$ PC).
    PS: I forgot to mention, that ALL components are brand new.

    I ordered my PC off of Walmart. It was labeled as a refurbished gaming PC. I paid $315 for it. Almost 3 years later, it's still holding up great! I only wanted a gaming setup to be able to video edit and for it to run Minecraft correctly lol. My laptops, which is all I had prior, struggled lol. I believe I can upgrade it later on if I want, which I will. But for now, it's chillin and doing it's thing.
    Apparently the PC is no longer available, and the SKU is now a laptop lol. Interesting.

    Planning to install x2 8gb ram sticks with 1333mhz each, An i5-3570K CPU, an RX 580, and a 500W power supply because it's original has no connector for GPU.

It annoyed me so much I made sure I replaced it with an 8 chip card, I bought a 2060S 3.5 years ago and see no need to replace it yet, it's already outlasted the old 1060 in my machine, in fact it's the longest I've gone without upgrading a GPU.
