Federal Sign And Signal made the actual siren part for W/S Darley and W/S Darley just made a different housing and made them red for fire departments. Darley is still in business to this day and they make different firefighting items. W/S Darley made fire sirens back in the 50's 60's 70's, and painted them Red. That's why if you see a Darley siren that was from civil defense days and it was dual toned it was most likely re painted in civil defense yellow to accommodate to the dual tone color coding standard. Darley also rebranded all ACA sirens except for the P-50 and the Cyclone I believe and made them in 8 port single tone versions and sold them in Red for fire departments. Darley sirens came red because red is that standard fire siren color. Also, the color coding to my knowledge was that all low tone and high tone fire sirens were to be painted in Red or Gray and all dual toned civil defense sirens to be painted in Yellow. No matter what tone darley sirens were always standard painted in red and for civil defense purposes the county or municipality would have to get it custom ordered or just repaint it.

hmmm I didn't know that Darley made a 5t......
My town has a Darley type 5 that sounds off every day at noon. :)
This is actually a W/S Darley 5BT. I think the letters must have gotten eroded out or something.
There's a very small town in Kansas called rock creek and they have one of these and it's painted yellow. Its so cool!
You did a very good job restoring that thing.
You have a really nice siren. Looks like brand new.
That’s a thicc housing
Ive always Heard a School bus that sounded Just like a 9/12 port Siren with electric buzzers That increase Pitch.
That housing is the best housing I have ever seen other than the thunderbolt in yatesvalle Georgia!
I'm going to rcord the Yatesville Tbolt as my second siren recording & first tbolt
It sounds almost like the Federal SD-10.
Zachary Donaldson same 9/12 chopper as the sd 10, aca screamer s-10, allertor, dual tone p-15 and p-10
@@sirensofsoutheastmichigan also the banshee and the howler
I love that paint
I always thought they was smaller god darn that things huge
Why such fast windown?
Careful spinning that by hand, I cut off the tip of my finger doing that. That was't fun :/
What did you do to paint it? I wanna do my 7TT and I want my paint to look as good as that.
it sounds similar
I seen a federal signal before I even stuck my even stepped it was so huge it was taller than me almost bigger than my dad's car
9/12 port.
Why are they so... *BIG!?*
How heavy is the housing?
Needs some oiling I see as it’s wind down is pretty slow
How much does the shroud weigh?
Heavy
how many volts is this siren and what phase is it? i recently bought a single phase 240 model 7 and im looking for ways to run it up.
A single phase siren normally takes 56 amps. But a lot more is normally required to start it
Why do Darley's and Federal Signals share a lot of model numbers? And what's the difference between them?
Fahrenheit4051 WS darley stole from them.

What does the nameplate of the siren say?
Trust Me i Own It It Says it Right on the housing tag
I have one of these but its 7.5hp
Its a "darley" 5BT not 5TT!
says right on the cover 5TT
Wonder what the point of two-Ts in the name is. Interesting.
It was Supposed to be 5Bt But it is 5TT
Huh, wow! That's pretty unique, then.
