I'm a trucker I feel your grief on the grease lol 😆. Even with the Tifflon plate you still want some grease around the shank (skinny) part of the king pin that where the jaws constantly rubbing.

Thank you for helping me to get a better understanding of my B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch 🙏

We have this hitch. Been running it for several years and it is rock solid. Great solution when you do not have factory puck system in the bed of your truck. The turn-over-ball Gooseneck portion can be added to a truck without removing the bed. One of the pluses is also a minus. The rock solid nature of the hitch means it is really heavy when you need to remove it. We have just updated our truck and this time have the factory puck system. As such we replaced the base of our Companion with the puck mount version. This is a little lighter and easier to store when we need the bed for something else.

I'm confused. Isn't there a frame work that needs to be added UNDER the bed of the truck? Don't you still need some lubrication of the king pin itself?

Nice video but I have to say that when it comes to a review, I have a hard time NOT believing you since B & W sent you a free $1,000.00 hitch to review. Not to mention your B & W ball cap. 😅. Sorry but I have to look elsewhere for reviews.

IMO the Puck Systems are far better than this.

I used the Anderson hitch for a couple years and really liked it however I kept seeing pictures of it failing (Aluminum doesn’t even have half the strength of steel ) could not live with it anymore tossed it in the trash and got the B&W companion , I feel much better about it .

I have had two B&W Companion hitches I have never had a problem with them, solid hitch and if I ever again get a 5th wheel this will be the one to get.

Companion base can’t rotate as the shape of the insert won’t allow it unlike that Andersen.

Looks like a lot of work, all you had to add a rubber mat under the Anderson. I've had my Andersen for about 5 years, best hitch ever

This really isn’t a lot of work. Once it is assembled, it is done. Removal so you can use your gooseneck setup is also easy. Pull the two pins and the B&W separates into two parts which can be taken out or reinstalled in minutes.

Congrats on buying the complete opposite of the light weight Anderson. Bye bye truck bed. With your B&W ball already setup you should have just bought the Reese Goose Box 😂

I also have the Andersen Hitch and love it!. I saw reviews that the hitch could rotate, so I cut down two pieces of a 2x8 board and placed on both sides of the hitch against the wheel well. Doesn't budge.

The hitch looks like a pressed up crap to me not strong enough to do the job as a road train operator for 45 years in Australia 🦘 grossing 85 tons giveing you a pay load of 55ton

I have a Anderson hitch and looking to upgrade. Where we store our trailer they move it out of the building when we come to pick it up and always worry about them damaging the king pin adaptor.

I was a mechanic for many years and seen metal break from many different reasons. Your statement " Overkill " stands true. My 5th wheel hitch has 4 base connections, yours has one. I have overkill. Yes I've seen those balls break.

This is the hitch I have and it's awesome, but I wish I had a program like your where you are given products to try. This one is an expensive system, but it's wells worth the money. We pull a RiverStone Lacey 44' and it's over 18,000 lbs dry and no problems and we are going on our 6th season. Great Video, and yes I subscribed to your page and looking forward to watching more. Take Care!

What size truck bed do you have? My bed is right at 6ft and I'm worried I may need a sliding hitch but I already have the gooseneck installed

Ironic, we bought new 5th wheel and went with the Anderson has well. First trip out this past weekend, same issue as yours. The base kept rotating in the bed of my truck. Freaked me out. Just ordered B&W yesterday.

I tork my Andersen to 80 ft lbs. It has never moved!! I also tow a smaller fifth wheel. Not sure why some people have this happen! Since you already had the turnover ball hitch, you should have gone with the Reese Goosebox. Don't get me wrong, B&W builds an outstanding product!! 😉

I bought a truck with this hitch you will love it. Just a note if you unhitch at a slight angle it won't release. You need to pin the handle wide open then it will come out. Thanks for the video!
