I just put a Gen-Y gooseneck on my Keystone cougar back in October 2023 . I did a 1800 mile round trip. I love the Gen-Y. I tow with a Ram 2500 short bed.I don't use an offset . I never came close to hitting the cab. I had a BW slider before the Gen-Y. Never once used the slider.... O and greese that ball lol
First of all, we have been subscribers of your channel almost since you launched it. We love it. We have a lot in common - we have a Z3100 also with the fifth wheel Gen-Y and wouldn’t have anything else. Although hard to tell, it does appear you may need to consider raising your bolt up on the RV to the top bolt on the frame, as it appears to still be slightly running a little high. Oddly enough, we have had the same little Weber grill you just bought for years and love it. We currently use the small propane bottles but intend to get a 20 foot hose assembly so we can use the on board propane tanks. Here is a great tip for your Weber - before using it each time, we line the grease catching tray AND the whole inside of the unit, under the burner area, with foil. That makes cleanup so much easier and you only need to clean the grates themselves. Again, love your channel and look forward to each episode. PS - we have 800w of solar on our rig but have not yet pulled the trigger on the Victron 3000w inverter charger and lithium batteries - any advice would be appreciated from your lessons learned.
Hey guys! Being an RVer since before you guys were twinkles in your parents' eyes, I say from experience that you can never have enough tools! Truly, you have to be prepared for self-rescue and self-sufficiency! With having owned over a dozen RVs, they are less and less reliable. Our current 5er bears the name of a brand considered to once be one of the best, but it has had more issues than all of our past campers combined! Anyway, we enjoy watching your channel, and wish you safe journeys!
Congratulations on the switch from the 5th wheel to the gooseneck, I think you will be happy with the ride! I currently run a Reese Goosebox 20 K on my Keystone Sprinter 5th wheel trailer with a 2020 Ram 2500 Diesel, factory puck system. One major difference between the 2 systems is the Reese has shocks and air bladder that can be adjusted via compressed air depending on the pin weight. I was previously using a Curt 20k 5th wheel hitch in my Chevy. When I changed trucks my Ram had the "puck" system which required me to convert the Curt to a puck. That was going to raise the nose of my trailer up 2 to 3" making the trailer nose high. The Reese is still a little high using a Curt gooseball but not as high if I was going to put the adapter for the 5th wheel on. I found that Reese does offer a shorter shank ball that would drop my nose another 1" or so but they aren't cheap. My overall rating on the Reese Goosebox is a 9 out of 10. Hooking up without a spotter is different from hooking up a pin box. Not previously using a non-shock 5th wheel hitch our ride was very disturbing. Switching to the Reese Goosebox has made all the difference in the world in our towing experience. The previous bucking and chucking has been eliminated for the most part. The first time my wife rode with the Goosebox she wondered if the trailer was even back there!! Looking forward to your comments in future videos about the new system. Safe travels! Pat
One thing you don't do, is complain to a man about his tools. He does the work and you never know what you may need on the road. Better than having to keep buying them. Love your channel. Enjoy it immensely ❤
Happy birthday Craig! That was a pretty genius way of using the truck to install the Gen Y hitch. And great teamwork!! That looks so much easier than the regular 5th wheel hitch. Safe travels and I look forward to seeing you slay on the Weber, Grill Daddy.
Only if the Rv company authorize it as a replacement. Love our gen-y Haven’t pulled a fifth wheel much at all but I could feel the difference the first time I pulled
Very helpful video! I’m moving up to a 3515 and RAM 3500 Mega Cab Dually from my 2500 Mega Cab and an Airstream. This is exactly the video and assurance I needed to go with this combination. Thanks guys!
That Weber is absolutely the perfect size. I’ve traveled with 5 different grills including Blackstone and Traeger. The Weber you bought is what’s in my RV now. We travel 3-4 months out of the year.
Happy Birthday! Side Note: I don't own an RV, but I told my husband that if we get stationed back in the lower 48 I want to live in an RV (Military Family). For now, I live bicuriously watching everyone's RV-related videos.
We used a Weber Q100 for the entire 10 years we were fulltime in our New Horizons 5th wheel. It stored great and was easy to set up. We found 2 problems which no grill we've found solves. 1. Because they are small, they do get greasy quickly, so good cleaning is required to keep them operating well. 2. The wind always seems to blow and swirl right when you want to cook - our solution, we got a small folding cafeteria type table which also stored well for the cooking base, and then made a three sided wind screen that we clamped to the table with large spring clamps. Made a world of cooking difference. My recommendation is make or get the3sided wind s reen asap, you will be thankful you did.
First video for me I've never smiled or laughed on any other full time show so ya'll have moved to the #1 watch spot. Full time rv living is a great life in my fifth 5th wheel over 16 years full time. Have fun and don't let the stress get the better of you, my best advice I can give you ! I don't follow it but it's a start 😊
Craig, you will love that little Weber. I bought one 18 years ago for our pop up, then used it in our travel trailer, and loaded it into our Brinkley last week. It still has the original burner, igniter and grate. They are super easy to convert to connect to the camper quick connect.
Hi guys... Happy Birthday craig.... You guys did a great job in installing that together.... Victoria.... Don't mess with the man's tools...lol... Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet you at the show.... Hopefully we'll run into your on the road... Thanks for the video... Stay safe...J&A
Happy Birthday Craig! I will be interested to see how well the GEN-Y works out for you. That will be my preferred set up as well. And Well Done Victoria on unbolting the old hitch! See you next week.
Makes me glad I bought my truck with a factory gooseneck installed. As far as storage buildings go most are not rodent proof within a few months you can toss everything do not store anything in cardboard boxes use sealed totes Happy trails guys good video
Great video guys. We have the same Gen-Y on our Grand Design. We have been pulling with it for 2 years and have had no issues. Easy install and saves so much space.
It was great meeting you two at the Tampa RV show. You're both so friendly and easy to talk to. As for the new Hitch. I never owned a 5th wheel but the goose neck is the only way I would go. Good decision.
Happy birthday!! I’m impressed with that install!! That look like a major project. We hope you enjoyed the Tampa show. It was very awesome to have met Craig in person, sorry we missed seeing Victoria… love the video, thanks for sharing and stay safe!! 🤍 Freddy and Bryan
Happy belated Birthday Grill Daddy!!!!! Great team work on putting on your Gen-Y Gooseneck Hitch well done. Anyways I also have a Gen-y hitch on my fifth wheel but a B and W slider hitch on my truckI am satisfied on the ride it's smooth. Can't wait till next vid!!!!
We installed the Reese Goosebox on our Reflection a couple years back. Fantastic upgrade. We wish the GenY had been certified by Leippert back then because it is simply the best. You will love it. Safe Travels!
Excellent music choice when backing the truck up with the hitch in the bed to hook to RV. Very adventuresome! My fav moment of the whole video is when we see Craig cringe but call himself “grill daddy” anyways lol! I think you guys are my favourite RV couple putting your story up on UA-cam!
Craig, it was great getting to speak with you at the show on Thursday, sorry Victoria was working. We love you guys. I am not a Blackstone fan either and I love my Weber Q. Keep the great videos coming and safe travels.
That Webber grill is great. I’ve been using one for 3 years as my main grill. Cooked all sorts with it from steaks, burgers, chicken, potato’s. Love it. Hope it works for you guys too.
DANG I wanted that exact hitch but in 2022 loppert didn’t warranty it on my Keystone Cougar. I went with a Reese air ride goose box which turned out to work awesome two of my friends have Gen Y and love them. You will love the extra room. HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎉 Good luck with your install
It was great bumping into you guys in Tampa. You guys are so informative and entertaining. that is a great combination for a successful channel. I am super impressed that you guys got that installed yourselves. those hitches look super heavy to deal with. Thanks for showing that it is possible and the clever ways you found to work smarter instead of harder to get it done. Keep up the great videos. BTW, we bought a Z3100 at the show so hopefully we will see you out on the road someday.
Congrats on the new Z3100!! and I'm so glad we got to chat! Honestly, I was pretty impressed with ourselves once we got it installed and it turned out to be a painless process overall. Thanks so much for watching and hope to see you again on the road!
Eh "Grill Daddy" 🥳Happy Birthday !!!! 🥳Hope it was a Great one... Hmmm, GenY, I'll be taking notes.✍ Enjoy your stay in the 💥HEAT!!!💥 😁 Hi Victoria!!!👋
We have a 3100 that we had the dealer install a Reese 20K gooseneck hitch on when we bought the trailer new. Tow it with an F-450 so we can't get the trailer completely level even though we had it installed in the top most holes. We're about six inches high off level in the front but we haven't experienced any problems with it yet. Love the Gen Y hitch too but the Reese also works well. Good luck in your travels with it. Also have a Weber grill like yours. We love it as it's compact and cooks well enough. We installed a new propane system so that we could use it wi9th the propane tanks on the 3100.
Great job guys. Happy Birthday Craig… BTW. The best part of your channel is Craig’s accent. I die laughing each and every week!!! You two are awesome. Be well!!!
Hauling gooseneck is a game changer. We won't go back. We run the Reese Goosebox and love it. I only chose that because we are a large toyhauler and our load amount changes and the ability to change the ride quality on the fly is easier with the Goosebox. I think you'll be happy Craig!
After towing around our 150# Yamaha generator for 10 years (and it’s a dream machine - just big and heavy) we purchased a 3500 watt MaxSpeedingRod generator that only weights 48# without fuel. Only $548 via Walmart Online last Oct 2023. Yeah, we have to pull a cord to start it now, but the size and weight are great.
Gooseneck Hitch's are GREAT. I have a Reese 20,000 Air Ride with Scale on are 2016 40' Dessert Fox Toy Hauler 3 axle and my wife and I have been full-timing it for 7 years now. I am 65 and she's 62. Have been to all 49 States, Canada, and Mexico. in are 2001 Ford F-350. We have 2 Polaris 500 Scrablers in the back. We call RED BLUFF, CA home, we do have a house there that we only see about 2 months out of the year. Hope you enjoy the ride.
@@wildrvlife double check the height looked a little nose end high but I was watching on a tv. I have about 7" clearance from bed rail to bottom of camper.
It was so great meeting you both in Tampa! We’ve been following you two since shortly after you launched and really enjoy your videos! Happy birthday, Craig, and keep up the great work!!
Happy Birthday Craig aka Grill Daddy! Great job on the install and enjoy the new grill - you can make lots of burgers now. I laughed at the tool sorting - we have those issues too! Safe travels to you both.
We have that grill!!!! Love it. We had one in Punta Gorda, and have another on our farm. One is smaller like yours, and the other one is larger. Great grills.
I'm sure you'll going to like the Weber. It does a lot better in the wind than similar barbecues. Highly recommend buying some aluminum drip trays. And like anything, the Weber does require a little maintenance. Enjoy!
The height looks a bit high… you can adjust with all the bolt holes. The Goose neck ball is ideal, it comes on Brinkley’s Toy Haulers- 5th or Goose. You did a great job mounting that up with improvised methods. Dump that low power impact… even Harbor Freight has nice battery ones, DeWalt & Milwaukee too… game changers.
Great video. We love our Weber Q BBQ! A recent purchase for us. I'm not a fan of the Blackstone, never owned one, but have cooked on them and other cast iron flat tops. I love grilling on them, but the daily clean up is a chore! Just not practical for RV travel either. We really enjoy watching you two. Keep it real and Happy Birthday Grill Daddy Craig! 🎉
Happy Birthday! Just ordered our 3100 with the gen y yesterday. We have the b&w turnover ball in sb GMC. Dealership install, but I should have hired you guys!! Love the improvisation!! Stay safe - God Bless!!
I absolutely hate the little flimsy plastic side tables on the weber. They don't hold any weight, plus you can't put anything hot on it. But the grill size is good for sure. Love the new gen y hitch y'all got. Enjoy watching y'alls video.
Just to let you know, I've been using the Weber grill for 2 years. They make griddle inserts for it which are very handy. I usually keep one side grill and one side griddle. And it will get 550 degrees with no problem.
Love the Weber grill been using them over 25 years goes from the back yard of the house to the rv and back you can use the big tanks and the little green one also my wife thinks I carry to many tools until I need to fix something love the channel.
Happy Birthday and God‘s Blessings! We love watching your show. Appreciate your knowledge, kindness to each other, and your great attitude, no matter what happens. 🥰
Well, I’ve had an excess of 27 RVs. In all my years 17 of them were fifth wheels my present fifth wheel is a 44 foot toy hauler. Would I ever convert it to a gooseneck not on your life you better have a routine to check the front gooseneck frame rails on your fifth wheel where the outriggers are. You should get in the habit now of checking that out once a month, it’s one thing to have a gooseneck and tow a little horse trailer. It’s another thing to tow a huge fifth wheel like I said my fifth wheel is 44 foot excess of nearly 20,000 pounds would I depend on a little tiny ball and it will want to create additional stress on the frame Area where the fifth wheel connection is on my fifth wheel, good luck on that. Thats what makes the world go round. We all have our different opinions and that is mine. Good luck on that. Obtw, Rv frames are made specifically to be towed w the ball hitch or 5 th wheel hitch, again good luck.
Just installed my Gen-y hitch today and your video was very helpful! Not tell Craig if he’s in southeast Georgia he can help me install my solar, be happy to pay him! I’m handy but he’s really handy.
Happy Birthday ! We are still in the break in period for the hitch on our 2900 but we are liking it so far. Mad that you can now get them in black ….that would match the trailer , Dang it !
Hi Craig & Victoria, We watch you all the time on our TV and just want come over here to say we love watching your adventures! Hope to meet you someday out on the road. From Moore Roads To Travel On, Laurie and Rick

Yes I agree!!

Happy birthday! Thanks for sharing that the cake came from Piggly Wiggly! I grew up with that being the neighborhood store. Childhood memories!
Haha!! It is still the only grocery store in that area.
That Webber grill is great. I’ve been using one for 3 years as my main grill. Cooked all sorts with it from steaks, burgers, chicken, potato’s. Love it. Hope it works for you guys too.
DANG
I wanted that exact hitch but in 2022 loppert didn’t warranty it on my Keystone Cougar. I went with a Reese air ride goose box which turned out to work awesome two of my friends have Gen Y and love them. You will love the extra room. HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎉 Good luck with your install

You two make a GREAT team, and your doggies are so cute.
Thank you! But don't let the dogs trick you they are a handful, lol.
We use the Weber grill ourselves. It's the Weber 200 with split grill and switched out one side for the griddle. We can cook almost anything on it.
Great job guys. Happy Birthday Craig… BTW. The best part of your channel is Craig’s accent. I die laughing each and every week!!! You two are awesome. Be well!!!

I have two of those grills! One of them I've been using for 15 years! You're gonna love it
We have the same gen y gooseneck on our Brinkley 3100 (#495)! We love it!

Was awesome meeting y'all!!
Happy Birthday, Craig! you guys are so adorable. Keep up the great work and stay safe please. ❤❤❤
Thanks guys amazing. Gonna install same with our new Brinkley. Love his safety sandals!
Happy Bday, Craig! My cousin has a gooseneck coupler he put on his Montana and loves it. Yours is much fancier than his and his works like a beast.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Craig 🎉🥳🎂nice you could spend your day at your parents!! Great Job on hitch 👍
States safe 🥰🙌
It was so great meeting you both in Tampa! We’ve been following you two since shortly after you launched and really enjoy your videos! Happy birthday, Craig, and keep up the great work!!
Happy Birthday Craig aka Grill Daddy! Great job on the install and enjoy the new grill - you can make lots of burgers now. I laughed at the tool sorting - we have those issues too! Safe travels to you both.
Thank you so much!! I never want to get rid of any tools.
Happy Birthday, Craig. I love my Weber Q. And I'm like Craig, got to have plenty of tools and multiple same sized sockets. 😊
Enjoy!
The wind is my main complaint with the Blackstone. So that's nice to hear.
Thank you for your videos on the Gen-Y gooseneck hitch! We just purchased one for our FW. 👍
20v DeWalt power tools is the way I went. He definitely needs to upgrade.
Haha!! Thank you guys so much! And I completely agree on the Blackstone
I like the. Gooseneck rv shocker hitch. You adjust the air to the trailer and pin hitch load . With air ride you glide
Nice job! I enjoyed this video. Informative, personal and a bit of humor.
Thank you so much for watching!
Happy Belated Birthday, Craig! 🎉🎉
I had a GEN-Y Gooseneck installed on my alliance paradigm 385fl when brand new
Such a good hitch!
Happy Bithday guy and Jenn your partner did amazing job of install .Love you guys
Thank you so much!!!
Congrats on the new hitch. Light and love ❤
Thank you so much for watching!!
Happy Birthday Craig. Hope you held on to all of those tools cause you never know when you will need em! 😊 Wishing safe travels to you.
Thank you so much!! I kept most of them just in case, lol.
Happy Birthday Craig. That Goose neck should work great for you. I have not taken that step yet but you may start thinking about it again.
Fancy meeting you here, lol and Happy Birthday. We enjoyed our brief conversation, and enjoyed the “selfie” picture! Safe travels!
haha so glad we got to connect! and thank you!
Happy Birthday Craig..........We have been following you guys almost since you kicked off your channel!!! keep up the great videos!
Keep on keeping on yall. Love it. And yes Happy Birthday Craig.
We have a much older version of the little weber grill. We have been using ours for over 20 years. Great little grill.
That's really good to hear!
Happy Birthday Craig.
Gr8 job on the hitch install.
Travel well Ya'll.
Happy Birthday Craig!! You two are very enjoyable to watch. Really love watching your channel and following your adventures!
We only have the Weber grill and LOVE it for the camper.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CRAIG FROM DOWN UNDER AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺
That's awesome! I want to visit Australia one day. It's on my bucket list.
@wildrvlife You both definitely won't regret coming down under, it's a great country to visit😊
Happy Birthday Craig!!!
Your new hitch is awesome.
We enjoy all of your video. You both are so funny. Safe travels to you both ❤ and your pups 🐶
Just to let you know, I've been using the Weber grill for 2 years. They make griddle inserts for it which are very handy. I usually keep one side grill and one side griddle. And it will get 550 degrees with no problem.
We saw those griddle inserts and were thinking of doing the same thing.. best of both worlds!
Thank you so much!! And thank you for watching, we appreciate the kind words ❤️
WOW. Awesome installation. Get yourself some kettlebells to stay in shape. Enjoying watching y’all.
Happy birthday to ya, Craig. Not much better than a new RV toy for your birthday.
I love our Weber camp grill. Perfect 2person size and cooks even. I hope you enjoy yours.
Ooh good to hear!! Looking forward to using it
The Gen-Y gooseneck was the first and best upgrade we installed on our ATC Toy Hauler. Great customer support and Christian based company!
great video, thanks for posting! I was considering getting this one I get a Brinkley.
We wish we would have had it from the beginning!
Had a Reese goosebox on our shortbed 5th wheel for 9 years. Love it
Do you find it difficult to line up the hitch and ball?
We have the gen y gooseneck on our G 4000 Brinkley and I love it! 😊
The Weber Q is awesome IMHO. I have two. We use one at home, one on the road. Drawback is they don’t work good in MN winter, too cold.
I can't wait to try mine out it fits perfectly in the camper also.
Just installed my Gen-y hitch today and your video was very helpful! Not tell Craig if he’s in southeast Georgia he can help me install my solar, be happy to pay him! I’m handy but he’s really handy.
Happy Birthday Craig…liking the “I’ll Be in my office” shirt !!! When will the Merch be available?? Enjoy y’all’s channel…keep up the great work !!
Happy Birthday ! We are still in the break in period for the hitch on our 2900 but we are liking it so far. Mad that you can now get them in black ….that would match the trailer , Dang it !
I used an inside the bed , behind the cab tool box for tools, etc. it was below the side of truck so out of sight. You can still use a bed cover also.
And I thought that you guys would have applied for season two of RV Unplugged. Great job…installing the hitch. Pretty funny video.
“Happy Happy Birthday Craig”. Steak Dinner/Seafood
Hey there! We have a Z2900 and raised our rear Jack's 2 bolt holes higher. Took hubby about 30 min.
Happy Birthday Craig, you can do it!
Thank you so much!!
