No. I wasn't even a huge fan of Breath of the Wild. I enjoyed my time with it, don't get me wrong, I just find many other IPs from Nintendo more enjoyable. I am glad I borrowed Skyward Sword HD from a friend and didn't buy it, cause man that game was not great.
Here's something I'm wondering but I don't know if you can answer: are there multiple save slots for the Campaign? I ask this because the original Advance Wars 1 campaign has several "branching paths" that prevent you from playing every possible mission in the same run, and I'd like to not have to start the entire campaign over in order to play every mission. (The last leg of the campaign in particular has 3 different versions of each map, and they're radically different despite sharing the same names)
Funny thing is if playing on a normal difficulty setting then there aren't many maps at all that can be broken. The closest you can get to doing so is basically cheap baiting the CPU with APC units and rushing your infantry to the enemy base for quick captures. This is actually pretty much hard required for getting S ranks on a lot of the tougher maps. You'll need absolute full knowledge of the game mechanics. Point being, it's definitely not a game that's easily broken. It's a tough cookie if you want to go for S ranks. If you're just playing to win tho then it's FAR easier as you can just use cheap tactics to wear down the enemy with no concern for the Turn Count.
Lol wait til you try the super secret final mission that comes AFTER the very last mission, aka simply called "Rivals!!". It takes some special circumstances to unlock, but it is by FAR the hardest mission in the entire game. Good luck S ranking that one on Hard Mode ;)
played a lot of advance wars and a ton of Black Hole Rising. finally FINALLY its coming out. was very excited since it was announced. its so close now. artstyle is okay (except why they do that to jess D:) overall i'm beyond happy that advance wars is back at last
Is there any new gameplay content? The new designs aren't really to my taste, but they're not a dealbreaker. It's just that I can play the whole series on my phone, is there a reason I would play this instead of just watching a stream? Or is it only a facelift?
It's just a facelift as they've said so far That and online lobbies to play with randos. Altho it's nothing you can't do in an emulator or in the JavaScript version The online mode also has a pretty small limit for custom map size. Apparently custom maps cannot be bigger than 15x10 in order to be valid for online play
I'm from Dublin lol but I've watched videos on Newfoundland, apparently there are a lot of Irish settlers that live there so that's why the accents have similarities
Let's face it, the 3D models should have been Cel Shaded, period. Hardly anyone really likes the look of the 3D models in this game. It just doesn't fit the rest of the game's aesthetic.
I hope you can skip the tutorial as this is 2023. 4:27 black screen transition is pretty lame. Shame they don't put one of them on switch online expansion.
There are still games with a lot of unskippable tutorial time. However, you should be able to skip most of the tutorial. I think the first three missions are tutorial, but you can skip explanations and the original had a lot more tutorial before getting to those three.
@sigurdtheblue hopefully you're right, gonna edit my shame typo lol. The gba had better battle transitions (think tales of symphonia stained glass that the remaster took out) as the black screen doesn't animate here.
Lol no.... That is a TERRIBLE strategy! You never ever would want to just put your Mid Tank aka your most expensive unit in a defensive soak up damage position, much less on a Bridge which has no Defense bonus. That's just stupid. It's going to get wrecked that way. You're supposed to actually do that with crap units, or cheaper units that can take decent damage, like an APC transport for instance, or even just basic troopers. Those are the ones you want to use as defensive bait and to soak up damage, not your expensive damage dealers! The expensive damage dealers are the ones you want to move in with for the kill, not to use as bait. You have it completely backwards in that regard. You also want to be placing more expensive units on more defensive terrain. You don't want your expensive units to be sitting ducks on 0 Defense terrain. I assume you're not achieving many S ranks playing like that, cus ya can't really play too defensive if you want S ranks, you HAVE to be fast & push forward all while baiting the enemy in order to get those! At least you did in the original, not sure if this has been made easier or not. The original was VERY tough to get all S ranks on all maps! Was able to do it but yeah it wasn't easy that's for sure. If you're just trying to win tho without any regard to the turns taken then it should be an absolute cakewalk, as you can use easy strategies to just wear down the enemy with no regard for the turn count. Good fact to know is enemies will often target APC's before any other units, so you can use them as bait very effectively. Infantry also make excellent bait due to being so cheap. Always good to put them in choke points to soak up damage if ya can. There's not much challenge when you're simply trying to win, going for S ranks is where the real challenge of the game lies.
@@HighLanderPonyYT The only strategy game to get an actual eSports was Starcraft I doubt a turn based game like this would get one. Chess would get an eSports before Advance Wars, there just isn't enough appeal

Is it weird to say that I’m legitimately more excited for this than Tears of the Kingdom?
No, it's not. People have different taste in games.

Given how long we've waited for the release of this, I'd say its pretty understandable
YES!!! That's weird
the fact that you guys actually got your hands on it this time around for an early preview tells me we might actually see this release this time.

Kinda weird that there's an NDA on games that are effectively remasters of the originals that are 1-2 decades old.
We don't know how extensive the changes are going forward.
It's quite possible there's more to this remake than initially thought.
Still think the original games’ graphics look way better, but I’m happy there’s a whole new generation who’re gonna be able to play these games now :)
You sure you're not nostalgia blinded?
@@SALTYTOAD00 they are definitely more iconic
@@DominoDomania Because it's sprite art?
@@SALTYTOAD00 No. I’m sure I prefer 2D sprites over the 3D models. It’s a pretty straightforward preference.

They should do duel strike and battalion wars as well.
Gonna be done depending how well Re-boot sells.
They were definitely going for a toy look. It’s not just the unit models. Look at what the maps are on.
can't wait. The game I've been waiting for. Hope it does well enough to either get a new game, or remakes of DoR/DS.
The view counts on content surrounding this game have been too low. Nintendo is not marketing it enough for it to succeed.
