He's skinny. He wears a loincloth. And he carries no weapons. He's the guy you play. Unlock his uncanny powers and you're a hero; don't and you're dinner.
Selected by the fickle finger of fate, Abe, floor-waxer first class for RuptureFarms, was catapulted into a life of adventure when he overheard plans by his boss, Molluck the Glukkonª, to turn Abe and his fellow Mudokons into Tasty Treats as part of a last-ditch effort to rescue Molluck's failing meat-packing empire.
During his escape from RuptureFarms, Abe received a vision from the mysterious Big Face, showing Abe that he must not only rescue his fellow Mudokons, but also protect all of Oddworld's creatures from the predatory Magog Cartel.
After completing arduous Temple trials, and journeying across a wasteland with his faithful Elum, Abe was granted the awesome power of the Shrykull. Returning to RuptureFarms, Abe destroyed the foul slaughterhouse, rescued his buddies, and brought down some righteous lightning on top of Molluck's pointy head.
The oddworld games are my favorite.
This is the first game in the series. It has a crappy savegame option
and it is easy to bypass secret areas that you have already done when
you restore. I believe that I have recorded every aspect of the game,
and saved all mudokons, even though at the end, it doesn't show them
all saved. I used Dazzle and Pinnacle Studio 11 to record and DVD Author
Pro to edit them. I then used Pinnacle Studio 11 to add a Title, merge and to
convert them to mp4.
This is the Playstation version and the length is about 3 hours and 33 minutes long.
I Hope that everyone enjoys this movie.

This used to really scare me when I was younger especially the slogs, I loved every minute of it though. I'm pretty sure this and the following sequels why I love dark humour so much. The occasional messages you would see like "Nobody important ever died from a little hard work!".

This is definitely one of the best side-scrolling adventure games of all-time. It's absolutely brilliant. Had such a great time playing this as a kid. Really miss it now.
I've been looking for this game for 7 years. I just found it today, and seeing it brings back so many memories-- I almost want to cry.

Wow, the amount of hidden areas in the first level that I missed back when I played this as a kid is rediculous!
I found 1 or 2 of them, but never knew there was that many.

Hearing the ps intro brings back such good memories... I wish I still had my psone with dino crisis and resident evil 1-3 and syphon filter and metal gear... what happened to developers making good games??
They come out every now and again, but for the most part production companies (EA, Activision, etc.) are too afraid to take risks.
Yknow if you have a ps2 or ps3 if you still have some ps1 games you can play your psone games on the ps2 or ps3 definitely ps3
Man, also when gaming was different from now. If you played games like this, you shared controllers with family and friends, cracked jokes, supported one another and totally had a lot of fun. Nowadays, kids wear a headset to play multiplayer games and curse at other kids.

The most nostalgic part of the game for me is all the bright colours it has, particularly when escaping Rupture Farms for the first time to see the majestic purple, blue, green and orange night skies, or the luminescence of the bonus areas.
I can’t believe I still come back to watch this long play series.

Yes man I was scared also it was realy scary for me knowing that they are gonna make meat of someone...And the whole atmospheric future thing, jesus those were good times, I wish I had a time machine to feel the nostalgia again
Holy fuck i miss the days where i would play my ps1...
I used to absolutely adore this game when i was growing up ... The scenery, music and all round atmosphere was superb .. And a distance in front of so many others ... The outdoor stage where you can see the moons in the background, with the dark blue sky just used to make me feel so warm.
This brings back such good memories. I remember playing as a kid i didn't really understand it as much and i couldn't get very far but its crazy seeing how long this game actually is!
This game will be released again on ps4 and pc for the old timer fans!

Played this back when it came out in '97, recently started playing it again for the PC. Major nostalgia trip. Classic game, never got old.

This game has the most static screen as possible, yet it's so exciting. even watching you play is thrilling. It's more exciting than most games of today lol!
I was 12/13 when this first came out, and all we could afford was a black and white telly for my bedroom, the bit where you have to tap the mines when green not red drove me insane! But I loved this game so much. Thank you for the longplay, I've just downloaded it to play on my Xperia Play, let the nostalgia begin!

yeah me too. It's a harsh game with a hazardous world, and the ambience fortifies that... Too bad new n tasty doesn't feel as harsh, as if it was more... kid friendly. That was a mistake, the oddworld series shouldn't be too kid friendly.

Question: does anyone know if Abe's slow responses are kinda normal to the game? (Example: I'm currently on the Scrabania level and every time Abe tries to turn on the bomb that flickers red and green to blow up a slig, he responds slow and I know I have to press ◾️while crouching). Anyone please help me out on that? It would make my day with this game easier!
Daniel Medina Yes, the slow responses are part of it. Abe has lots of frames of movement, this means lag upon starting up and ending animations, so yeah, you'll have to get used to it.
eines der besten spiele die ich jemals gespielt habe, früher hab ich Abes Oddysee und Exoddus zusammen auf eine Longplaykassette von 10 Stunden länge aufgenommen, hat gerade so hingepasst, aber war mein absolutes Lieblingsvideo.
Vielen Dank für diesen Longplay, die anderen Versionen werd ich mir auch noch angucken.

I hate the bombs which you can stop by toughing them at the right time. They really should have thought about us colorblind because the only way to do it for us is by sound. Still a superb game though.
Considering that the sound does help your situation, all I can say is don't bitch about a game that's over a decade old for not taking a certain minority into consideration?
I was born in 1995 and I was lucky enough to discover this game series playing it at my cousins house when I was 6. I remembered the game and I asked by dad to get it for pc. I remember playing it, it was such an amazing game. I remember watching abe run through the dark rapture farms wile getting chased by sligs, making my heart race at 100 miles an hour. Some scenes in that game was so intense wile playing. It sucks that no modern games are even nearly as good as Abe was.

I never managed to finish the game as a kid. Watching this makes me feel as if I was finally getting the missing pieces of a puzzle lost long ago.
I must find the voice actor for Abe, he deserves moar kudos.

A truly gorgeous game, I mean as a kid I had no idea what kind of treasure was set before me. Blew my mind back then, this game was way ahead of its time. Kinda depresses me not being able to experience it nowadays, but I guess youtube will have to do...

Ah, the memories. Loved this game so much when I was a kid although I never managed to finish it. Wonderful artwork and lovely musics. Not to mention the character! Absolute classic, reminds you why playstation was the best console at that time for a while.

The Slig possession music was always so bad ass, it tells you it's time for business.

NOSTALGIA EVERYWHERE! Best game ever, and the environments were so beautiful even by today's standards. The mix of serious gameplay, intense moments, and dark humor blended to create a gaming masterpiece.
Seeing games like this makes me miss those pretty pre-rendered backgrounds in many ps1 games

This was one of my first PSX games I ever played, I'm 23 now but used to be so scared of this game! lol got my first PSX on Xmas morning '95 with this, Alien Trilogy, Casper The Ghost, The Lost World - Jurassic Park and Rayman...those were the days! :D
I remember playing this when i was around 7 years old. I remember listening to blink 182, playing with action man, lego castles, going to primary school with some crappy library book and not any sort of care in the world. Now i'm 21, in my last week of uni and looking out into the wide world. I still remember these times like they were last month, yet they are 13-14 years ago. Time to grow up.
That Oddworld inhabitants logo still sends shivers down my spine.
This game was scary for me when I was little. But I still play the game even then because I could not get enough of the EPICNESS!!!
to this day the backgrounds in both oddworld abes oddysee and exodus are the best ive seen in any game in my opinion

Its all about being subjective, to me the 90's literally seem like yesterday. It makes me smile when I see you young folk talking about the "good old days". I used to think exactly the same as you but about those being born in the late 80s and 90s, as to me the 80s were the "good old days". ZX spectrum FTW !!! ;-)

yeah, i'm 18 now and this game always used to scare me as a kid, I could never play it alone but I just kept coming back for more. I miss it actually. And i'd probably still be scared by it too.
my gosh, the memories this video brings me. i remember that i would have my friend come and sleep over, and he, my brother, and i would all try and get farther in the game. usually we'd end up helping my brother out while he had the controller. it was so much fun. now i have no idea where my game has gone :'(

The intro just gives me chills of nostalgia.
This is the most disturbing game I ever played; the story line, the animations, the characters all blend into something I have not seen since. I absolutely love the feeling that comes over me when I watch the cut scenes, it's so earie and gives me a profound sense of hopelessness. The later games had nothing on this one; most under rated game ever.
How can this game be so scary yet relaxing at the same time? Maybe because I loved it so as a teenager. Btw the player is GOD
