METAL GEAR! awesome series, not played since forever so i didn't play that good and only on normal. I get the good ending but add the bad ending on at the end. I forgot how good the voice acting is on this!
Could not get this emulation right to save my life! thought it be way easier, so there are glitches in this video. I normally solve the glitch later on though. THe worst is the
stealth slowdown, the random image during president baker, some other slowdown during the lift. Oh and in some cut scenes the filter screws up i think, so people look blurry for that bit. Shouldnt of used filters but i didnt know much about them when i started the recording.
Lastly, i had to run though this a couple of times because of the game crashing and me not using proper saves! So my equipment might change at some point and the end results won't be accurate to what you have seen.
By the end i had a million files so i hope i edited them together right and edited out all my save state loading. Couldnt catch any myself though screen goes black for a second after a boss battle when i reset the emulator. -

In retrospect the game was okay at best, it only had two possible endings which made it too predictable to enjoy after playing a few times

they just don't make games like this anymore. this game went so deep with the story, covered so many aspects like science, life, death, danger, humanity, history, governments.... philosophy, good dialogue... wow.

Dr. Dust i agree. I grew up playing these games when they came out like the first mgs or resident evil for ps1 and they had very difficult control's at the time. I think that's what made re so scary to me haha. The lack of controls and camera angles while fighting zombies game me anxiety back then.

This game was very emotional for me especially when you faught MG REX and when Grey Fox was there dying right in front of you
In all of my years of playing this game, I've never even thought or knew that you can use the stinger missiles on Sniper Wolf.
Ha ha, neither did I, until I read a Spanish MGS guide a few years after beating it. The guide even had some apropos artwork of Snake blowing Wolf up with the Nikita. I felt so dumb for not figuring it out myself (probably the devs expected you to act on memory and assume the missile launchers were unavailable due to jamming like in the first Wolf fight).

I think i used the sniper rifle on her, but I knew you could guide nikita-rockets up to higher elevation. dont remember how I defeated her, probably sniper rifle
It's like instinct we pick up the sniper rifle on the first place to beat her.
The story line for this game is amazing
But what really makes this game stand out from other series is the character development
It's quite evident there are little sub plots to each character and you get a sense of "empathy" for characters
Brilliant series and can't wait for the 5th one

It is a shame you never got to experience this masterpiece first hand. I still remember not putting this down for hours on end. The story and delivery of it is just fantastic.

Thanks for the upload, I just watched 5 hours+ of this game and I read it all(or heard), you see I played this game before learning to speak English back then, now I finally understood what was going on, now I had such a hard time completing the game because I didn't knew what to do in many point because of the language barrier.

Same here! I was still learning english while playing this game, hmm I was maybe 11 or 12 at the time. I could only understand a few words, but now I realize this story is so complex because it covers so many things that you need to know apart from just the language itself. Me and my older brother used to play this game, really nostalgic for me to watch this now like 15 years later.

I had the demo and honesty just wanted to watch the parts i got to play to bring those sweet 98 memories back.. after watching it up the the end of the demo i couldn't help but to watch the whole thing!! Thanks so much man it was amazing. I was 8 at the time and looking back i realize how much work they put into this. The voice acting and story is insane for the time it came out.

BEST GAME EVER MADE, reminds me of my childhood playing this. Truly a masterpeice, a game I will never forget. This game will always remain at the highest point of the gaming benchmark.

I totally laughed when Snake told Naomi that Fox said that he loved her instead of saying that he was the one who killed her parents.

It was so tragic the way Gray Fox said "Tell her that.....I'am the ONE who killed her parents" revealing to snake how bad he felt about killing Naomi's parents and not being able to look at her in her eyes because everytime he did he felt her parents eyes staring back at him

Nothing short of a masterpiece. If we mgs fans band together and show as many Triple A Developers and 4 year old cod fanboys this game as possible we will change the world, and possibly fate.

Whit all that talk about the mgs v, I started to search about the story/longplays of this series, but now I want to play all of those myself, especialy this one, such a good story, I now started to undestand why everyone loves this saga and Kojima, well, thanks for the videos

If you complete both endings twice you unlock costumes for Meryl and Otacon. You choose Otacon's ending you get Stealth Camo if you choose Meryl's you get your bandanna with infinite ammo. I'd Do Otacon's twice at the first and then Meyrls twice then I stick to meryls ending where her and Otacon live

@@mdw159 you get diffrent endings depending of if you won or surrendured the torture scene and you can get the camo/bandana by loading the finished game save
“That takes care of the cremation” is such an underrated and badass line.
what i love about this most is that theres no commentary ruining the game. Brings back some good memories. While the the graphics and some of the gameplay are dated the story is still as awesome and emersive as it was when i played in the late 90s

my favorite part amongst others is when Snake gets in the elevator 3:29 and Otcacon calls snake to tell him about the missing stealth suits with the ominous worrying music in the background.
i love the sniper wolf cutscene when she dies. especially the end "snakeeeeee! what are you fighting for?"...... *turns around* "if we make it through this.... ill tell you!" so epic!
The best death scenes for me was Psycho Mantis and Sniper Wolf.

The little speech that Naomi gives at the end about Life always moves me every time i hear it. I love the song sung in the credits as well, I think it's in Gaelic? Fantastic game in any case! Thank you very much for doing the playthrough :-)
One of the best games ever made :') The final chase was so intense, and the speech at the end... wow. They really wanted to tell us something with this game... and they succeded! Simply a masterpiece.

Ty for the play-through. I spent a random Saturday watching your play-through. It gave me an opportunity to re-live all the bosses and scenarios. In some of them you suck, in others you did better than me. However, the narrative of the game remains powerful, 20+ years after release. This game is excellent.
That part with the PAL cards used to feel like it took forever.

Yeah, I kind of always felt the second ending should have been the true ending, not because I didn't like Meryl's character, but because it fits better with the somber tone that the rest of the game portrays. Plus it would have made Snake more personable in his moment of grief when he realizes that he's can't save everybody.

Liquid: Father was already unconscience and in a coma when they brought him in*.......The nine year coma Big Boss awakens from at the beginning of Phantom Pain. Big Boss then triggers the Outer Heaven Uprising, just in time for Snake to graduate from the green berets.....Which was when the Nintendo Metal Gear Series was born......Kojima is a God-like genius!!!

I played hundreds of masterpieces : red dead redemption 2 , witcher 3 , oblivion , skyrim , call of duty modern warfare 2 mission impossible etc etc but this metal gear solid is from another planet ! The best no doubt about that….

I like how MGS4 even explains the meaning behind Raven saying that Snake has some asian ancestors. The MGS saga probably has the best storyline out of any game series I have played.
This game is definitely one of the best gaming and cinematic experiences ever.

Remember watching my friend play this game watching the cutscenes like a movie when new. I was 11 then and watching it now at 34 is still an epic story and video game. Today's games don't have this story and voice acting quality as well as the memorable encounter music themes. Awesome times as a kid.
