people criticize these cars for their looks or how slow they are, but hey, I have to say after looking up the specs on these cars how they near 60mpg which is more than most Prius'. I don't own a Geo Metro but the gas mileage is pretty remarkable.
In these days it's not bad having a geo, mirages have 3 cylinder engines so why not a geo :D
@mag2395 There are three connections plus the speedo cable that goes into the back. You have almost no room to work back there. If all those are connected check your fuse panel see which fuse is for the cluster and see if its blown. May just be a faulty cluster if everything is hooked up right.

the swap on my 97 geo metro 3/5. be careful unhooking the speedometer cable i broke mine taking it out
Very cool and helpful video. I didn't have to take as much of the paneling off as you but it was a tight fit in there for my hands and getting a couple of the connectors loose was challenging. Definitely plug and play - no additional connections or mods needed, though I did check and transfer bulbs to empty sockets. Oh, and get this - there was a large feather behind my cluster, too - go figure. The XFi is much better now with a tach - john
@mag2395 Its all plug and play, you dont have to wire anything. Just make sure you have the right cluster for a 3 cyl. 4cyl clusters will read off.
Which geo metro did the tac gauge come from? Or did it come from a 3cyl swift from 2000 / 2001? Found one listed as for the swift from the 2001 model claiming to be for 3cyl , only diff is it reads 130 mph (200 km/h) but i suppose that if its a 3cyl gauge i can just swap the speedo portion from my current metro over. as it seems like its only 2 screws that hold it in.
@crammage I do not think they came with one with the tach, all I found bad as far as bulbs go was just the one. I swapped over a few others though, theoretically you dont need one with a tach I guess.

@mag2395 I do not know how they have it set up on the 1.3 all i know is with my 3cyl it was all plug and play. Best I can say is get on geometroforum post up a thread about it there are more knowledgeable people on there than me. Is the only thing not working the Tach?
Ok yea everything is plug and play it is all incorporated in the 2 main plugs that go in, the one that is mechanical as it for a mechanical speedo. The rpms run from electrical impulses from one of the spark plugs in your motor.
Now just make sure you get the right cluster for your car, if you have a 4 cyl get one from a 4cyl and same with the 3 cyl or it will read WRONG.
Couldn't tell from the video, but after putting in the new gauge cluster, does the tripometer work too?
+Doug Davis yes that is apart of the Custer itself if it's not working it was broke before you installed it.

dang it was the only cluster they had. i hooked all them up are you sure they didnt just not put a wire in there for the tach?
you dont have to do any wireing for the added tach?

What yr metro is this. I have a 93 metro lsi convertible. It doesn’t look like that under my dash
Usually the geo metros idle a little less than 1000 rpm,if it is idling at 2500 u got a problem, 1 it could be your vacuum hose, something might be blocking it a little,if u have a bad vacuum leak then when u stop at a,stop light it will stall
I have kia spectra 2006 and I have an issue with the wiring of the speedo meter cable
any idea how can I replace the cable ??
are you sure they didnt just not put a wire for the tach wire in there?

@hanksranger i have the 4 cylinder and i got a 4 cylindr cluster and it doesnt work??
so did you do anything else wiring wise to swap them out? i want to do this with my 99 chevy metro but neverknew if you needing to do anything with wiring?
What did you pull the dash cluster for your three cylinder Geo out of so you had the tach cluster?

@crammage Lol ok he still is waiting on the front shocks and struts to come in hes got the back ones and wants to get new tires. Ill ask him about it, should be fun. btw jon got himself an 04 Accent 4dr auto, Ill see about gettin him to do one too.
