Thanks for this! I got a 93 metro i need to just get running again as a backup car. I paid dearly for it as metros are in high demand here in the PNW. A couple exhaust valves burned and i'm probably gonna go ahead and re-ring it while i'm at it. It seems like i picked a good car to learn on. Small, simple and yet old with everything falling apart on it. 😝
This was my first rebuild in a 1992 i rebuilt it in 1998. It was a dirty rebuild just like this but the car ran forever after. This was a great first car.
Just wondering how much did this rebuild cost? I’ve got a 1996 geo metro hatchback with the 1.0 3 cylinder. I was thinking about doing a rebuild on mine as well
@@nicolebailey3164 Super cheap. Maybe $300? That's if you do all the work yourself, have the head redone professionally, hone cylinders, replace piston rings, rod bearings, and all gaskets
I have a 94 geo metro 1.0 with almost 400.000 and never been apart starts every day I put new HVL in it last summer and it still ticks and makes loud noises tell it warms up so I took the pan off over the weekend to see what was in there but all I found was small plastic bitts no metal shavings and the connecting rods are just a little loose could that be my ticking thanks Fred.
Haha wierdos are the best ;D I'd love to gamble a geo. This video was filmed last year... Haha I just never posted it. I was actually looking for another Geo yesterday...
Love these little cars
me too!!!!
The Suzuki G10 is a good little motor. Treat it well and it won't let you down.
One of the best, for real

Haha, enjoy it!! The parts are dirt cheap on rock auto, and they really are a blast to own
@mightye How did the rebuild go? Love to see your follow-up!
Good video on engine rebuild ! I have a firefly that needed an exhaust valve . Now it is a good runner
Thank you!! These little engines are a blast to play with

How did it go for you? I'm about to be tackling the same thing here, too.
Was this an XFI motor/ model car? I’m looking at doing a rebuild on an xfi but having trouble finding pistons as the xfi had gapless rings…
It was not an XFI engine
Hi I'm just wondering if this engine can have piston sleeve that you can put on instead of just the bare cylinder to piston.
Yes it should since it is an aluminum block

How long did the engine last? Is it still running?
I want to a rebuild this same way but I am scared, never done anything like this before just clutch replacement
Still runs great as far as i know. The new owner drove it from here in Texas to New York i think. This is a really common "rebuild" method actually.
I had to watch with no audio🙃
What's the proper torgue or is it just tight as you can get without compromising the bolts/parts?
I don't remember now. Google will know!
@@gagefixeseverything already figured it out
Indeed Google did know
steering wheel on the right?
No, Left hand side. forword camera reverses the image
How many miles did this engine have?
over 200k
@@gagefixeseverything wow pretty good I got a 95 f150 with 328,000 original motor, Trans and rear end
Attracting some weirdos in here….. You taking you Geo to a Gambler event soon?

I need to pull the Festiva engine apart and figure out why it locked up.
