Good review! For people who wonder about noise canceling, there are a lot of great plugins in post that will sound better than onboard noise cancelling anyway. What matters is the sound quality at its baseline. This tiny mic seems to deliver!
the size of this mic is really ideal! look forward to its next generation with 32-bit quality. I'm wondering if they can make it connected to phones or cameras without that transmitter?? thank you so much for this helpful review!
I saw this on MKBHD in one of his recent videos and just googled circular wireless mic , so waiting on his review but it sounded really good on him He has it on in his “do bad reviews kill companies” and in his “this is the worse product I’ve reviewed so far” I wish your clip of the noise cancellation was a little longer when you are actually talking outisde vs siting in your car with it on . And show the strong vs weak
I've been using the iPhone receiver and a transmitter with wind muffler to record the audio for my outdoor videos (because microphone wind noise from phones is terrible). It's great although I did lose a transmitter when I accidentally knocked it off. They aren't easy to find in long grass! Now I have it clipped to my watch strap and the wind muffler tied on with a loop around the strap. An advantage of the watch is I can shield it from the wind direction and also aim it at the subject (always someone else, not me). I have to remember not to be brushing it against clothing. Because my video clips are short bursts I'm also using an audio recording app on the phone to continuously record audio which helps when I miss a bit of audio in the video.
Oh this is simply amazing. Funny how all the things you highlighted as downsides don't even matter to me, I truly love the simplicity of it's operation. I'll be putting an order in right away. I haven't had the courage to even start youtube. I do have loads of contents though...lol. Thanks Tamara for always giving such great reviews. You were the reason I bought the hohem isteady gimbal and now this.
I've recently bought usb-c version of this mic, and its awesome, easy to use, tiny as a coin and sounds amazing. The only two things i would love to have is an ability to mute the mic (use it for live streaming) and stereo mode on mobile version. Everything else is pretty nice.
Thanks for the review. I really do like the tiny size, and it seems like these would be SOOOO much easier to use than having to use a wired lav mic in to a recorder like the Tascam DR-10L or the new Deity PR-2 recorders. Oh, and much easier than highering a boom operator to cue a mic back and forth.
I was bit skeptical on this mic kit but for the price point, it really is a bang for buck and I’ll be getting my kit soon. Thank you for the excellent review ! Loving your content
I am considering the purchase of a Hollyland Lark M2 Wireless Lavalier Microphone for iPhone/Android/Camera/PC/Laptop with Lightning/USB-C/Plug. My question is this: would it be possible to use one of the Transmitters paired with the USB C Receiver connected to an iPhone 15 and the other Transmitter paired with the Lightning Receiver connected to an iPhone 12 at the same time, or would they interfere with one another?
6:09 regarding the camera vs mobile mode, am I correct in thinking there are actually THREE receivers in the kit? One for lightning (mono), one for usbc (mono) and one for a cable (stereo)? I can use any one of the 3 at a time?
Top of the day to you. Would you be so kind as to inform me if the mic with usb-c for android phones also works with Insta 360 x4? Thanks. I do believe I also asked on the X4 vid as comments assist in the algorithm and your videos are well done.
For a solo vlogger, its a good product, especially for the price point, but for the extra £40 I think the DJI Mic 2 is the better product with more features as well as that safety track. Nice review though.
I've just ordered these, hopefully they are good enough for PC use, I want to move to IEMs, but needed to figure out what to do for a mic, and I didn't want to go the full on mic on a boom arm route. Edit: They came in quick, I've just done some testing, and love it already. The noise suppression isn't the best it could be, I could still here my keyboard. After some research and testing, you can use software to fix that, I'm using NVIDIA Broadcast and my GPU, and so far it's perfect.
Can the one hub that goes into the iPhone and DJI osmo pocket 3 connect to more than the 2 mics? Like could I buy more and have 4-6 mics hooked up into one system when recording video ?
Along with the Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo, I also own the Zoom F3 which is a 32-bit dual XLR field recorder. So, your point about the Hollyland Lark M2 mics not being able to record 32-bit is valid for me. I'm now spoiled that I can record 32-bit audio in any situation. That being said, I do like the M2's size making it easier to hide the mic under a shirt collar. I tend to wear shirts with collars in most of my videos for UA-cam and narrative work. If I were to get the M2 system, that would be one of the first tests I would carry out. Thanks for another reliable review.
@matthewrennie7010 May I know how you connect the Lark USB-C adapter to the X4? Just directly connect to the USB-C jack at the side of X4? Or do you still need to use the additional purchased "mic adapter" sold by insta360? If yes, connect via USB-C or 3.5mm? Great thanks~
Great review! Just out of curiosity, are you using the app’s volume settings on low, medium, or high? I am not sure if I prefer low or medium and you probably have more experience with them.
Great video and valid points as always. The Lark M2 is a great sneak peak into what is possible when it comes to the wireless audio space. I love my Lark M2s and i think the next iteration will completely knock it out of the park when they introduce (hopefully) 32-bit float internal recording. i remember when RODE announced that in their Rode Wireless Go II and then finally introduced a proper 32-bit float internal recording so it won't be long before Hollyland includes this in the next Lark M2
I’m not a big fan of total noise cancellation outside. I find it sounds unnatural. If I do use noise cancelling I will sometimes put some kind of ambience backing track in the mix to give it an outdoors feel. I use it sparingly though…just enough to give it atmosphere.
Yeah I'm the same. I don't tend to use NC in general as I like the ambient sounds when outdoors. If it sounds noisy then I add a bit of voice isolation in post.
Hi I would be grateful to you if you ans my Question. What is the best gain level in osmo pocket 3 if it is used with Lark M2. For outdoor and indoor as well.
Question please, since the transmitter is in MONO track so when you use 2 transmitter at the same time does it split into 2 track at post editing or both mics bake into 1 track? Thanks

@TamaraGabrielUK how do you compare this to the comica wireless that i noticed in another of your vids? Personally i like the Hollyland Lark M2. I have the usb c editon and use it with my smartphone
I prefer the Hollyland Lark because of it's small footprint and various mounting options, and I only ever need one transmitter. However, if I was going to film with more than two people then that's when I'd use the Comica Vimo Q because it's a 4-channel mic. For me, that's the whole point in using that Comica mic system, the audio quality is really good too.
Thank you ☺️ Yeah the mic works with both. You’d need the Media Mod for the GoPro though. With the Action 4 though the RX doesn’t click in all the way but it still works and there’s no distortion with the audio.
