Solid mic! In many ways, more versatile than a Shure SM7B. This video has inspired me to get one.
That is a LOVELY sounding mic. My home podcasting mic just died so this will be a perfect replacement - great timing Tamara!
Low key.
I’ve been plugging in my USB C podcast mic directly to my DJI Pocket Osmo 3.
Makes content creation so easy and audio so clean 😅
Ha!! Same. Thought I was the inly one who discovered this.
The PodMic USBs in built processing is amazing when you get it dialed you can just plug in and go
Great review Tamara. Initially I was going to buy the Shure SM7B, but this mic seems way more convenient, and looks better in my opinion. I'm definitely buying this mic now - your review sealed the deal for me🤝
So I purchased the Rode NT USB+ with the DS2 stand. The whole kit works really well. I’d say rode is the “go to” for voiceover work at the moment.
I still use my Rode wireless go 2 single mic for my voiceovers in my office space.. this would be a very welcome upgrade. Thanks for the video!
Did you notice any difference in sound quality between using the USB-C versus the XLR cable? I'm currently using a BlueYeti myself, but strongly considering this mic.
Just purchased based off your review. Thanks for posting! I’m going from a Shure SM7B that had way too many parts to travel with. No need for a cloud lifter was the moment I decided it was worth it.
💯
Whenever using the Pocket3 with the Mic2 do you record your voice into the mic-recorder or do you transmit it to the Pocket3? When previewing your Pocket3 footage on your main computer have ever noticed a hissing sound behind the vocals, do you think that might be caused whenever the signal is transmitted to the Pocket3?
Oh, thats really really good. Ive got to get one!
Yeah, the sound quality is impressive.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Its very clear, with very good depth.
Thank you for actually showing it through rhe phone! Sounds great
Got the rode podmic usb on the way. I really hope an update includes a De-esser. I am an s person. My main question right now is, what camera are you using? Looks great.
I use the Sony A7s III shooting in Slog3, with the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 GM.
@@TamaraGabrielUK I didn't get the notification till now. Thank you.
You’re welcome.
I bought podmic but the usp does not work on iphone 14
Thanks T
I actually view this particular mic as a tough sell. Gotta remember this is $199. Yes it has XLR and USB but there are other mics that have this capability, ie AM8, K688, Q2U. If you watch K688 VS Podmic comparisons I'd argue the K688 sounds better - but at 1/5th the price (also has XLR/USB) capability. That said I'm a huge fan of the Videomic Go2 (which you also have). I wish RODE made a version of it with a higher SPL, ie 145 DB SPL since it sounds amazing when recorded up-close.
You're right.
@@Dracomies fifine k688?
My phone has the lightning connector. Would this work with a USB-C to lightning cable?
This kind of seems like an MT USB Mini update. That XLR input is epic! Sold, gonna pull the trigger.
By the way you're doing that thing looking away from the camera again 🤣👍
Anyway, Thanks for sharing. Your videos are awesome.
Unfortunately doesn’t work plugged directly into an iPhone which is part of the reason I got one for.
And when plugged into MacBook Pro Rode Central just freezes “Processing” and won’t allow any adjustments to be made. Altogether a very disappointing piece of equipment.
Sorry, you’ve had those issues, but it all worked for me on my iPhone, MacBook Pro, and Mac Studio.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Will try again to see if there have been any updates etc to make it work (via USB) on the iPhone and MacBook Pro but not holding out much hope tbh. A quick search on the web shows it’s not an unusual problem. Have assumed it’s an Apple / Rode connectivity problem.
Very nice, and very nicely priced. Thank you for the review. Am definitely going to have to look at this one a bit harder.
Love the review. Have been looking at the PODMIC and this review was well shot and well done! Thanks
Is this WAY better than the Rode Go II?
They're both too different, they're good in their own ways. I think the sound of this is richer though.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Thank you. Really appreciate your down to earth UA-cam style btw. 👌
Thank you for this video
A short and sweet video.
I appreciate the time saver.
Can I use usb c to usb ?
I connnected it to my mac via usb c and the the 3.5 aux cable to my lumix but it didnot work
Did it work with your professional camera ?
If you want a low mic arm, Elgato has the wave mic arm LP. It looks great.
Thanks!
Thanks mate... did you process the audio in the video at all?
Only raised the gain, but no processing.
They should have added a Mute Button.
The volume button doubles as a mute button if you press it.
@@TeshTube That's good, but it's not prominent and it's in the back. Should be on the side or right on top
Great review but this mic is too expensive for what it does. There are great sounding dynamic usb mics for half the price.
Also....TAMARA GABRIEL FOR PRESIDENT!
All the best from London!
Nice review Ms. Tamara. Did you find Rode Connect and Rode Central software easy to use? I didn't.
Thanks. Yeah it seemed quite intuitive.
@@TamaraGabrielUK I guess I need more practice. 😁
