Did anybody stretch a line, or did they all just walk around the structure?

Difficult to watch this total tactical debacle 😡😡😡 Whoever had operational control of this fireground needs to either to retire or be placed on administrative leave until lproperly re-trained in size up and operational strategy and tactics! Unless there was some sort of prolonged water supply issue there is no excuse allowing bravo exposure go that long being unprotected! If there was a water supply issue there definitely should not have been interior firefighters obviously in a structure that was about to light-off in its entirety! For God sake DFD, please purchase your ladder companies chain saws! Swinging an axe on a 12/12 pitched roof definitely is not for the faint heart and I full respect and take my hat off to this ladder company! It is the incident commander/chief officer(s) decisions that is troubling! Be safe DFD firefighters!!! Allen P, (Retired) Firefighter (Captain) Great coverage Josh Fire!

Oh.....and another thing! If I was the owner of that exposure on the B side, I would be pissed! There is no reason why that house was involved! That's ridiculous. Whoever was in command of this fire should be called on the carpet and be called out on his incompetent actions. Unacceptable!!

Why aren't they hitting the bulk of the fire at the get go? Protecting the exposures at the beginning is fine as but hit the bulk of the fire.

441 feet from fire station to fire scene. Hydrant 2 doors south and across the street from fire. Second hydrant 332 feet away in front of gas station across the street from fire station. This was not a training! This is the typical Detroit Fire Department in action. I am going to try to get the video to the Mayor.

It looks like the only line is streched in the front door. I'm having a hard time believing that was the best option. Why not at least knock down visible fire first? The smoke showing in the front tells me that the whole thing is getting ready to light up. I agree with the rest of you guy's.....very poor effort by the members!

Typical USA fireplaying. The fire is clearly visible in the room at the left side, and they are going in the front door to crawl through a hot, flammable smoke filled and unfamiliar house to find the fire. When they do open the front door, that will introduce fresh air that the exiting energy will draw in and BOOM! And they are going in there??? They can quickly and safely extinguish the fire and vent the house before they go in but, they are going in there???
1:40 Does anybody else see how unnecessarily and irresponsibly dangerous this is? The door is open, and the windows are vented, and the water still hasn't extinguished the ignition source for those flammable gas, and they are going in there?
3:46 Still burning! has the engineer turned on the water yet? How is it in there, children. Getting off yet? You do know that is the ONLY reason you went in there, right? No, you aren't searching for victims or even thinking of extinguishing the fire from the inside where you will be standing in a steam bath, you are just Playing. Afterall, you aren't a REAL firefighter until you have scorched your helmet and turnouts, right? You betcha!
4:00 Now the fire has moved to the rear of the house, no, not the "C Side," and still no water. Rear is one word and syllable, and C side is two words and syllables, so not only are you not using fewer words, but you are also confusing what everybody knew in the first place. It sure does sound cool though. "C Side!" It's actually, childish.
5:30 Now how is this for idiotic, childish and disrespectful to their families? They are on the roof of a burning building! To vent the structure all they had to do is break out the gable end windows by using that single stage ladder but NO! Climbing on the roof is SOOOO much more fun.
5:40 Now they are climbing off the roof after doing nothing but helping the fire spread into the second floor.
6:12 There we go. This was a viable structure that could have been fixed up enough to house a homeless family and look what they did with it. If it was a bad area, move it to a better area. Or how about this? Leave it there, round up all the career criminals that make it a bad area and exterminate them. Like you would cockroaches.
15:00 They extinguished it anyway!!! What did they learn? What did they accomplish by not doing their jobs and needlessly risking their lives inside and on top of the BURNING structure?
Now, the community has a damaged structure where people could get hurt going into and it has blighted the neighborhood even more. Leave it to the USA work ethic to screw the country and it's people even more.
15:50 Look at this and then close your eyes and imagine a family living in not only that house but all the rest on that street. I'm not talking about the same types of families that screwed the area in the first place, I mean hard working AMERICANS who have suffered due to the economy or some other calamity not of their own making. What has this country come to?
