6:24 It's Too Big
- reverse the thought
- take something that is big and make it feel smaller (mentally shrink it)
- Instead of thinking of the top 10 or top 20, think of the top 3, then critique the idealized outcome.
- By deliberately finding the imperfection of something, you reduce the consequentiality and its magnitude
9:07 It's Too Far
- Ask yourself, "How will the decision feel in 2 days, 2 months, 2 years, and 2 decades?"
- Visualize yourself in that state
11:46 It's Too Hard
- Positively Frame the Decision
- Instead of looking at it as binary (either/ or), expand optionality
- Think about the alternatives you may have
- With this, you reduce fear, finality, and foreboding.
14:55
Probability Test - composed of 3 simple questions
- If I make this decision, what's the worst thing that will happen?
- What is the likelihood of this happening?
- If this happens, what will I do next?
Reframing
Thanks for this.
An impossible task...😮
Thank you so much 😊
I wasn't sure I wanted to watch your video, so I researched you and read the comments. Then I decided to take the risk.
What risk?
@@tculebra Wasting time is an obvious one. Less obvious risk is taking advice that sounds good, but is actually harmful - tips like that do appear from time to time. There are many "self help gurus" that are more interested in selling their stuff than in helping people or in doing their research.
That being said, the original poster was probably joking and we took their comment way too seriously.
This video just changed my life forever
Thank you so much. I really hope it helped.
Wonderful speech, this really helped me with some difficult choices that I had been struggling with for many years. The simple and elegant approach solved the dilemma quite effectively
Wish this was even longer!
I’ve been very indecisive about my career since I was young. I didn’t know what to major in high school, didn’t know what job I wanted to pursue, so I just chose a major my parents wanted me to study. Now I’m still as lost as ever. I kinda know what I have to do now, but since we only live once, I can’t really go back in time and redo everything…
That’s terrific. I really hope this helped you.
i am in the same position as you. I am a high schooler and i can't choose a career. it's a conflict between my own interests and what my parents want me to do. i can never excel at what they want me to do. I am certain that i'll end up as a failure no matter which one i choose.
@@user-kv1uv8un4x If you do something you enjoy, it can by definition not be a failure.
Awesome. Am putting these tips into practice already!!!! And they work.

I am indecisive about whether to go back to chicago or to stay in los angeles. The cons of going back would be, its cold in chicago and I would live in strict rules, like curfew. Pro would be I'll have a job waiting for me. Con of living in los angeles: i need a car to get by anywhere. I dont have a license. I'm afraid to drive because of the crazy drivers. Con is I dont have a job yet here. The cost of living is too expensive.
From what you have said, the move to Chicago sounds to be the better decision as there were more cons in LA.
Languish:
-To be or become weak or feeble; lose strength or vigor.
-To exist or continue in miserable or disheartening conditions.
Love ❤️ it !! Watch it. Share it.

Grateful as it’s painful decision time for me.
Thanks very much. Hope you are doing well with those choices.
Well spoken but mostly useful content
Appreciated Scott. Thank you for your comment,
? I’m sharing this with everyone I know.
I have one question if its not too late to ask: does character influence the decision making process too.
I loved every thing you said, but what about if you are not sure what can go wrong? What if the wrong thing is you getting nervous and saying the wrong things infront of the public eye? I want to start performing in the street but my mind makes it such a big thing to public speak and interact with strangers in that way . . I guess what im afraid of that even tho ill know what ill do in my show cause i would practice it alot on my own, infront of people its different. I know i might get super nervous … even tho i would be prepared for my show im pretty sure stuff might happrn that i would have to improvise.. and i guess that scares me
Even a few minutes will change how you make decisions.
Send it to everyone you know. You’ll make friends for life.
Try pressing an EASY button, from Staples? It says, "that was EASY" when you press it.
Global EASY buttons are available in the USA. Global buttons have different languages.
(Perhaps, pressing an EASY button, over and over, can give us a slight push, forward)

thanks much
Interesting idea Harry - thanks a lot
You’re always guaranteed to get high quality insights from Nuala.
Thanks Ece. Appreciated.
Am mind blown!?
Thank you very much. I hope it is useful for you. Feel free to share.
You cant admit you cant decide. Now I might. Eveyone has the same fears.
Indecision can be a real challenge, but it's important to remember that everyone experiences it from time to time.
Anxious? 😱 Want help deciding? Its the best 18 minutes
WOW!! I got absolutely nothing from this aside from a chuckle about the donkeys dilemma in the first minute of the video.
It’s just Paul Simon. But point taken.
Thanks very much for the clarification Joe. Great point! Hope you enjoyed it.
Did anyone catch author of Game Framing and Positive Psychology that she referenced?
Hi Lizbeth. It was Daniel Kahneman ( gain framing) and also Martin Seligman. Two different angles. Let me know if I can help. Nuala

@@nualag1 Fine. What other resources do you recommend? And also the 2 things that weren't covered in your otherwise perfect presentation were changing your mind once you made a decision (reconsidering it) and not enough information to make a decision because I am one to want all the available information and choices before I decide. That too, as you said, can be a problem when too many choices become overwhelming. The certainty of the outcome is exactly what people want and are needing. Different scenarios can be played out with their probable outcomes, which I enjoy doing, but at the end of the day people have to make the best decision they can with the information they have and go from there.
There may be other psychological issues that also come into play as well such as controlling people in your life who want to tell you what to do and how to do it but that is a different story.
