Precisely so, with all due respect to Brett and rathbone, no other iterations has so gracefully protrayed the human side of holmes, BBC tried and butchered it. Not to mention he looks exactly like the sidney Paget illustrations.

This is the best role for Lucy Liu. Her performance has been the best version of Watson - with all due respect to BBC Watson - Martin Freeman.
No such respect is due, in my opinion. Freeman's performance is garbage, not because of his skills as an actor, but because of terrible writing.
Elementary is better than the BBC version on every level: writing, acting, stories. And it is surely Lucy Liu's best role ever. The entire cast is pitch perfect.

I've watched every episode of Elementary. I think lovely Lucy liu as Watson and Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes make a great team. Let's hope this programme goes on for many more seasons.

I'm completely addicted to Elementary. I've watched most of the episodes half a dozen times. I've never really been a fan of Sherlock Holmes in other movies, but this series is just fantastic. I think most of that is the relationship between these two and the intelligence of the writing.

Did you find season 4 annoying?
Almost done with the last season and just seeing this interview for the first time. Lucy hit the nail on the head with what she said about Sherlock being uncomfortable around women. In the books, he was well-mannered and polite toward women and treated them with kindness and respect, but in his private opinion he was suspicious of them and believed that they were deceitful and untrustworthy, as if every member of the opposite sex had an ulterior motive. Jonny does a brilliant job of illustrating this in his performance.
Elementary is by far the best interpretation in my opinion.
I just miss them and this show! Elementary is like my comfort show. I’ve watched the whole show probably three times. Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu are just so freaking awesome, want to see more of them and also more of them as a team! I loved how they sticked to their platonic relationship. It’s pretty rare that the two main protagonists don’t end up together and that’s why this is a very welcome change!!

The respect, trust and admiration the characters have for each other is all that matters. I honestly believe they do love each other, just not in a romantic way, and that's even more powerful to me. Kind of reminds me of Mulder and Scully (before their romance, obviously - even though there always was an attraction between M&S that is not there in "Elementary"). Love the chemistry between Jonny and Lucy, and they are tremendous actors. Wonderful team, on and off screen!

I always loved Sherlock Holmes, but now l am crazy for Sherlock Holmes in this show. The actors are very good, and the story is really cool and touching.

I discovered Elementary in 2013. I loved the BBC Sherlock too -- and out of curiosity I checked out the first episode of Elementary. And I was amazed. I was suddenly in love with Jonny Lee Miller (whom I had never heard of before then).
Here I am 5 years later and I had already forgotten how annoying the final season of BBC Sherlock was. But Elementary's Sherlock and Watson STILL GOT ME HOOKED EACH WEEK. LOVE THEM, LOVE THE EVOLUTION OF JOAN WATSON. Love Jonny Lee Miller ♡ and Lucy Liu.

the best interpretation of sherlock holmes. don't say the moffat or whatever is better than this. everybody has their favourite and consider others feeling when you say that. just be happy with whatever version of sherlock out there.

I realize that it is now 2023 but i had to share a quick note. I have always loved Sherlock Holmes books and the movies, especially the earlier ones. I was and still am a Huge fan of Elementary, i am currently binge watching it again for the 3rd time. Great writing, acting, love Jonny and Lucy in this show along with Aiden Quinn and the rest of the cast. Miss this show
Ironically, a vocal minority of fans lost their minds because the relationship between Benedict Cumberbatch's Holmes and Martin Freeman's Watson didn't develop into something romantic like they wanted it to. While I'm sure Elementary, as with every show, has some shippers, I do prefer Holmes' and Watson's friendship to be strictly platonic, regardless of the gender configuration. I'm glad Miller and Liu intend to keep it that way.

I have this on good authority, from people there who know. First CV, rest easy; Elementary skips calendar year 2017 although retaining the chronology of Season 6 plot lines. And Season 7 will be a full season, to run in 2019. But, well, steady yourself man, Season 7 will complete the show's run...Indeed, Elementary has been canceled, series finale will air mid-August, 2019...right there CV, the box on the shelf there...says Kleenex...Not your sleeve! Good God man, are you crying? Pull it together! We still have jobs to do...lives of our own to live! No, no use them all, here, I've another box...after all, there's always Amazon?..Netflix?..Grand Ma?

God I miss these two and the whole superb cast of Elementary. As a Sherlockian, I find this to be the best depiction of Holmes' and Watson's characters as originally written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Please bring this show back. By far one of the best shows ever, in my book.

Jeremy Brett's portrayal was probably the most accurate to the original Doyle stories. The "Sherlock" TV series is probably the most accurate at bringing it to the current date. Rathbone was probably the most (or one of the most) charismatic Sherlock. "Elementary" is probably the most entertaining of the portrayals. I also enjoyed other series that indirectly copied Sherlock Holmes: House MD and Monk. Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock is real good, too.

I'm on season 2 episode 8. I love these characters so much. Watson loves Sherlock (friends), even though he is unconventional. The writing is so smart.

Massive fan of Sherlock altogether. Love anything Sherlock. And for me it took me a while to get used to the idea of Watson being a woman. And I'm glad I gave elementary a go. Now its weird for me to imagine Watson being a man. Lucy lui is now my favorite Watson.
Best Sherlock ever Jonny made it so great
Miller's rendition of Holmes always strikes me as more likeable and compelling than Cumberbatch's portrayal despite how the majority of the world seems to have accepted Cumberbatch as THE face of Sherlock Holmes.
It is one of the few shows that I still keep track of.

When I first heard of the first show I didn't really think it was going to work out but I'm a Sherlock Holmes purest but since that day I love the show and I'm so glad it's back
i started this show two months, and just finished it. i’m literally bawling my eyes out after watching the final episode 😭 i’ve never had a show that’s meant so much to me ever, and ugh my heart feels like it has a hole it in. jonny and lucy and the rest of the cast made such a beautiful show. this show will leave a special place in my heart ❤

I love this show Elementary one of the most exquisitely written shows on television right now I love the Friendship part between the two characters and for them to want to keep it as it is from beginning to end is a lovely idea and a lovely tribute to the storyline as it began he loves her more than anything else in the world but like a sister like a friend like a companion like someone that he can talk to and confide in what a beautiful story I'm very passionate about the shows and I watched different types of shows but this one is excellent excellent excellent wonderful acting by Lucy Liuand Johnny Miller. .. day
Johny Lee Miller really fills the whole character in Holmes, he gives it all! - in private, like this, he seems more of in an idling kind of state, and then goes "full throttle" in Holmes!

I am on the 3rd episode of the last season and am holding off so much bc I am literally heartbroken to end the series. This has become my all time favorite show and I wont know what to do next. This is the first time ive watched an interview of any show. I was incredibly curious to see if Sherlock had an accent in real life and just to hear their comments altogether with the show itself. Im going to miss it 🥺

A very re-watchable TV Series.
this was an awkward interview right off the bat.
What makes them special to me is that beneath the surface of their brokenness lie great hearts. Great loving hearts. (yes, Joan is broken too. Not as a person (as Sherlock is) but where carrier and further social aspects are concerned she is broken. For someone with her intellugence, drive and pride that must hurt quite a bit. But, detectiving Sherlock style... is just as tasking and rewarding (sometimes even more) as being a surgeon. Only people don't get it.
