@Venturakidare you kidding? That’s the same actor??? I’ve watched Luther more than once and never put this together!!! The differences in their characters are unbelievable! I love Standish so much, she plays her beautifully. I don’t know if I wish I hadn’t known that now, I was not a fan of Luther’s boss after season one finale decision and loved the guy that took over
Saskia deserves so much admiration for her whole career. SUCH a great actor. She's in everything but just disappears into the character. One of those greats Americans just don't know.
Jack Lowden has the true gift of a great conversationalist. He's calm, witty, respectful, knows how to laugh at himself, and incredibly intelligent. Watch him on Graham Norton. He's a master class of how to behave in a social setting. The accent doesn't hurt either!
Jack's the right age for Bond, learning from the best as well. He's never been on my radar fully for the role but the more I watch him the more I can see him in the playing Bond.
I keep my Apple TV subscription, post Ted Lasso, thanks to Slow Horses, mostly! It is a great great series. Glad to see Mr. Lowden making the mainstream tele rounds.
Jack does a phenomenal job. I almost stopped watching during episode 1 of season 4 because I was so sad at first. - I’m glad I made it through until the end because holy moly 😮!!! What a good show. 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Thank you for the introduction to this series. Definitely going to watch. Outlander was incredible and the landscape just amazing. What a beautiful country 🏴
😂I was so surprised to hear him speaking with a Scottish accent! Lol! Had no idea... It sounds so nice on him, and it's completely understandable. I wish he was allowed to use it more often. What a shame! The red beard is always a nice touch too. 😉 Slow Horses is so good. One of the best shows I have seen in a long time. Jack is fantastic in it, and the divine Gary Oldman never disappoints. I highly recommend giving it a watch if you haven't already!
Did a rewatch to catch up on it for season and it’s such a delight and also he’s absolutely brilliant in it, the humour he plays River with is so good! Like someone with a lot more seniority actually, he melds so well with those legends!
Peter Capaldi saying in Deep Breath with his magnificent Scottish Accent: "Why is no one speaking normal - It's like you all developed a fault" . Just Brilliant.
@pennygleeson5029 YES, please put those 3 (well, maybe Paul Higgins, he's got great chemistry with Capaldi in Thick Of It) in a room with a sound boom and camera crew - any script for the workshop, but maybe 12 Angry Men, you'd only need 4 Scots.
@@beckscarbajal7596I’ve been a Tolkien fan since i was in the fifth grade and i am enjoying Rings of Power. it’s not the PJ films (which also deviated significantly from established lore), but it is very much made in the spirit of Tolkien by people who clearly love Tolkien. season two is a helluva lot better than season one so far you just have to remember it’s an adaptation. television and fiction are vastly different storytelling mediums. and to me, criticizing lore deviations isn’t legit media criticism. real media criticism involves discussions on the aspects of film production that went into making the show - directing, narrative structure, production design, acting, etc etc. far too many fans get hung up on insignificant lore deviations and never really go on to discuss and debate the merits of the show in a nuanced way. plenty of Tolkien fans like the show.
There is one moment in the series, I forgot where, he can’t hide his Scottish accent when he says ‘You’. Brilliant series, great plots, regularly tense, but most importantly, there is humour in it. A rare thing nowadays as far as Tv series go.
I love him. Two recommendations: Jack as Siegfried Sassoon in Terence Davies' "Benediction", and as Morrissey in "England Is Mine" by Mark Gill. A terrific actor.
It's difficult for British TV to match the budgets of American TV shows but they can match the level with great writing and great acting.....what a show!
Much like James McAvoy, Jack Lowden knows how to animate his face. A small raise of an eyebrow here, a dimple deepening there… he knows how to convey so much with his face. He might consider Price, Scott-Thomas, and Oldman as masters, but he gave us a masterclass on expressive acting right there.
I'm not into dudes but this guy almost makes me doubt that, what an absolutely gorgeous man. He's basically the young British Tom Cruise, if Hollywood has any idea what they're doing they'd hire him right now to be the next Ethan Hunt, James Bond or whatever other massive franchise.
One reason why Jack Lowden would be good as James Bond is because he is good looking and you can believe a lot of these Bond girls would be easily bedded by him, this is not to say that the Eon Bonds were not good looking just that he is probably better looking than all the others with the exception of Brosnan. True that a lot of women always say they prefer their men to be tall, dark (e.g. not Blond) and handsome but there are quite a few that say they prefer blond men, hard to say what the percentage or ratio is? There is also a large quantity who wouldn't mind dark haired or light haired men as long as they are good looking. Slow Horses shows Jack Lowden can handle the action scenes and seems very believable as an action hero, please make him the next Bond.
RE: The Scottish being bearers of bad news: didn't help that half of Burns' poems are about heartbreak, loss and the call of the grave. And maist of those were about the guid auld days!
How dare y’all not mention his role in the War and Peace mini-series. That’s where I first noticed him and he was quite good in that fantastic adaption.
I get no cross promotion and no free advertising and all that, etc... but I'm surprised Colbert could restrain himself from talking about Jack Lowden playing Sauron in the first episode of season 2 of rings of power.
Loved Slow Horses. But jack lowden’s turn as the flawed, but very human, Nikolai (Count Rostov) in War and Peace deserves a shout out. Funny story about scottish pilots in ww2. Flight sergeant ferguson of the RAF was shot down in September 1940 during the battle of britain. Coming in for a glide crash landing he was repeatedly attacked by german fighters. His plane cut through power lines and then did a belly landing on a golf course. When members of the golf club arrived to help, sergeant ferguson was out of his spitfire, very agitated, and speaking at an enormous pace. The funny bit? The golf club’s members could only understand the swear words he was using - of which there were a lot - and thought he was a polish pilot, speaking in polish. It was only after they got him to the clubhouse and he’d downed a few whiskeys that they realised he was scottish. Many years later, some of the club members who witnessed this still thought he was polish (‘he didnt speak any english, but, my word, he had learned a lot of english swear words”).
You didn’t even ask Lowdon about playing Sauron in the new Rings of Power! Are you feeling alright? I mean I also love Slow Horses, but this seems like an oversight for a Lord of the Rings fan such as yourself.
Such a great show! I hope they (Apple TV) don’t wreck it after a few seasons. (Ie. Where’s Severance?) They really blew it with that one! How long has it been MIA? No one cares anymore… Anyway, Jack, Gary and Kirsten are excellent, as are the rest of the cast, the writers and director. And… Mick on a fab theme song! Kudos! Luck at the Emmy's✨✨✨
Fabulous show. I love it. I want to add a shout out re Saskia Reeves for her truly outstanding performance as Catherine Standish.
@Venturakidare you kidding? That’s the same actor??? I’ve watched Luther more than once and never put this together!!! The differences in their characters are unbelievable! I love Standish so much, she plays her beautifully. I don’t know if I wish I hadn’t known that now, I was not a fan of Luther’s boss after season one finale decision and loved the guy that took over
Ok, here's a task for you: find a single character/actor combo which is not just brilliant in the whole show.
Saskia deserves so much admiration for her whole career. SUCH a great actor. She's in everything but just disappears into the character. One of those greats Americans just don't know.
@@juliereiley9579 She's Fab as STANDISH!
Slow Horses - Easily one of the best shows available today! 👍
Oh yes!
Fact.
Quality over quantity
Love this show!!
I read all the books and had no idea how they would cast Jackson Lamb. The casting is incredible top to bottom.
Jack Lowden has the true gift of a great conversationalist. He's calm, witty, respectful, knows how to laugh at himself, and incredibly intelligent. Watch him on Graham Norton. He's a master class of how to behave in a social setting. The accent doesn't hurt either!
He's got a Henry Cavill vibe, I think
He's phenomenal. So glad that I learned about him through Slow Horses.
@@tomimpala Much better actor than Cavill.
Was that the one with the triple-take? V funny lol
@@chrismccready5432 haha yes! He's been on Graham Norton a few times but the triple take bit was the best. 😂
Jack's the right age for Bond, learning from the best as well. He's never been on my radar fully for the role but the more I watch him the more I can see him in the playing Bond.
And he's already nailed the orphan angle...
Yeah, he would be a good Bond. Sadly, it seems it's going to be Aaron Taylor Johnson.
Bond is passé now. There can be so much more interesting roles.
Was also thinking this after watching slow horses
Hes my pick
Slow Horses is one of the few shows I look forward to when a new season is announced.
From the first 5 mins of episode 1 season 1 I was hooked and Slow Horses just gets better and better.
Gary Oldman's performance in slow horses is among the best you'll ever see in your life
Slow horses is an amazing show!

Love the Scottish accents, Jack Lowden and Slow Horses 🤩
I forgot he's Scottish!
i love that he calls him River at the end ...
Good catch! Haha..sounded like Stephen tried to catch himself, but it was too late!😄
Finished Slow Horses (all four seasons in like three days) AND IT WAS AMAZING! Definitely going to pick up the books too! ❤
Books are even funnier.
Thank you for the introduction to this series. Definitely going to watch.

Scottish accent is the absolutely best sounding accent in the world (I am not Scottish at all).
I agree. My two favourite accents are Scottish and Irish.
Hearing impediments suck man 😢
Peter Capaldi saying in Deep Breath with his magnificent Scottish Accent: "Why is no one speaking normal - It's like you all developed a fault" . Just Brilliant.
Ohhhhh Peter Capaldi ❤️❤️ second only to David Tennant ❤️❤️❤️❤️ there's just something about the Scots - sigh ❤️❤️

Was recommended Slow Horses by a few people and only just got around to it a few weeks ago. Already finished it.. amazing
Love his droll wit, love Slow Horses, great interview.
I can’t believe Stephen didn’t bring up that Jack just played Sauron
Or he just got married to Saiorse Ronan
Was about to comment on Stephen NOT getting hyped about talking with Sauron! Love watching him geek out on Tolkien.
Probably because, like any true Tolkien fan, Stephan is secretly denying that RoP exists. 😂

Love the Scottish accent!! It's sexy and dramatic. C'mon movie and show producers, what are you thinking??
Omg - talk about making the whole conversation about everyone else. He’s a great actor in his own right. Made it feel like he was an intern.
