    Being an action star in the 90s and early 2000s was probably so much harder because of training like this, but it REALLY made the movies that much better, a lot of respect to these three

    • @ceceliam9014
      @ceceliam9014 6 місяців тому +17

      They still have very intensive training for action actors in major motion pictures now. Though I suspect they're not forcing their head to their thighs the first day after they say they can't touch their toes... Because that sounds like it could easily lead to an injury. And there's a bit more knowledge about overtraining now than there was then (and an injured actor represents a delay and costs).

    • @Lyserg_
      @Lyserg_ 6 місяців тому +4

      @@ceceliam9014Yeah, I mean actors usually are in better condition than regular 9 to 5 folks but muscle damage can lead to liver problems or kidney failure. They could've ended in the hospital depending on how hard they pushed them.
      I'm not exaggerating either, I know someone who did cuz her coach pushed her too hard: Rhabdomyolysis. The muscles don't have time to heal after an intense workout and you're dehydrated, which leads to kidney failure.

    • @maxsommers6843
      @maxsommers6843 5 місяців тому +5

      @@ceceliam9014 The training they tend to do now is all physique based - gym workouts, muscle building and toning, etc. They don't do as much skill based training like the girls did for CA, or the cast of The Matrix, etc. Hence why a lot of the big action films in more recent years like the MCU use shaky cam, fast editing, and CGI face replacement FX to cover up all the stunt doubling in the fights and action scenes.

    • @ceceliam9014
      @ceceliam9014 5 місяців тому

      @@maxsommers6843 Yeah, I could see that being the case for the big superhero movies, for sure. And a lot of the mainstream movies that are light entertainment based. There's definitely still movies that prioritize good fight choreo though, and they'd do more skill based training. But they're a bit more niche. Though this movie may have been pretty niche with its stylized fight choreo, too, even for the time period. It was harder to hide stunt doubles at this time, but we were more accepting if seeing them. Now it sometimes seems like if we don't directly see an actor get punched in the face then we're not happy, lol. We don't like to suspend that disbelief.
