This video is probably the biggest restoration project I’d ever watched. The before and after is amazing
Thanks for watching! 😁 Glad you enjoyed it!
Have you seen the abandoned mansion by Matt Cariker? I feel like they are similarly impressive :)
I saw it after we bought this and I began to see if anyone else had done anything crazy!
@@lars6051i was about to say the same lol. Insane transformation. Love what Matt did
@MrPsychopathYT who's Matt?
I’m so happy you did spray foam. It was heart breaking seeing this multimillion dollar home had fiberglass before.
You and me both!
We only use fiberglass in Norway.
Rockwool all the way, spray foam is the modern asbestos.
@axelhollenberger5051 😱
@@axelhollenberger5051 Problem with sprayfoam is it's a disaster to readd wiring in the future.
I just love all these hard working Hispanics working because they take pride here in America doing an awesome job.
Most of the crew worked hard but the framing guys were the best!
I'm in Florida and I see the complete opposite of Hispanics, Caucasians, African, Ukrainian, Russian...etc...
No one takes pride in what they do anymore, it's get to the job site. Finish the job in a half ass way and then race home to do it all again the next day.
It's strictly for the pay cuz they don't get a quarter of that pay in Mexico has nothin to do with pride....how about we give the jobs back to the Americans since we are in america....
Because they are underpaid and they don't respect any Work regulations 👀
Don't forget they are Americans. Perhaps not born USA, but are from the continent of America. Canadians are also Americans.
So proud of Mi Gente the Mexican community giving you their 100% of hard work. Their skills are outstanding as always.
👌
As an architectural technologist. And interior designing student. This remodel was absolutely amazing. Some features you must add (imo) is some beautiful paintings, and a little more on furniture. With a beautiful house like this it compliments the furniture and the interior so try not to cheap out on the furniture unless you’re flipping the property.
We just staged for the filming as we were behind on videos dropping. More to come!
Absolutely stunning!
I'm completely blown away with how this home turned out. Cudos to you and everyone who helped make your dream house the way it is today.
Aw thanks Jim! Appreciate the kind words and thanks so much for taking some time to watch along!
@@realmikethakurI have a question are the old columns still in the square
@Forgotten_Red sure are! We have the whole process in one of the vlog videos in the channel so you can see how we handled them. Although we did lose one along the way 😱
After watching the entire video, I must say that I admire the effort you and your wife put into the restoration. While some of your design choices may not align with my personal taste, I genuinely believe that you both did an outstanding job. I personally would have not taken on that type of challenge. Cuddo to you both! 👍👍
Well thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the journey with us!
You’re such a humble man you made this very enjoyable to watch. I don’t know how you did it, but I would be pulling my hair out.
It’s been a fun project for sure. Appreciate you watching along with us!
Bc he doesn’t have any of said hair to pull out 😂😂 (I mean that as a joke Mike!)
😂😂 I’m laughing because it’s so true! Maybe I gained a few wrinkles instead 😱
I remember when this happened in Franklin, TN. It was a shock to no one local that out of towners would pay millions for a burned down home and property in Franklin. Beautiful area and lots of Civil War history, good investment.
Thanks for watching along! 😁
@realmikethakur you should look up Google map of 3 years ago, all those new houses that building around your property, all those houses was the original property of your mansion, look like the previous owner had spits all the property into small lots and renovated the mansion and later the place burned down, the original size of the prwas 70+ arces with a pond, saw on the goggle map that the original pond still there, it was the most beautiful property once time.
@@realmikethakurdid you ever say what the full reno cost? Awesome to watch but golly it hurt my brain trying to calculate everything. Not that it matters. But I'm guessing over $3mil not including what you paid for it. Possibly way low.
I just know my whole house cost me less to build in 2003 than you paid for tile. So ... :)
@davidshumway9639 nope. I try not to look at my spreadsheets anymore 😱 but it was a whole lot more than we were shooting for!!
@@realmikethakur I was trying to keep up by houses.
Shingles. House.
Rebuild the front right wing. Couple houses. Bathroom tile. House plus some. Windows. Several houses. Lol.
Good for you man. Big risk big reward. I'm sure you're happy with it. This is the first of your vids I have seen. Not sure what else you got but I'll have to take a gander. Great vid!
This is stunning! I am so very happy for you. All you choices fit my soul. May you and your family and friends have decades of peace, laughter and thankfulness for all you have done. Best of everything
Aw, thanks SO much for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the video.
If you only knew how much I loved what you did to that old burned house, I can’t even begin to say. But OMG I wished It was my house they up. Congratulations on a job well done
😍😍
Wow, amazing job. For my feeling, the old house worked very hard to pretend something it wasn't, while the new house breathes a sort of relaxation as if it says I'm finally home. The only thing I don't find a good fit, are the few arches upstairs, although modernised. I think square edges would have extra defined the new style. But I would be more than happy to think about that every morning while walking down those stairs for the rest of my life hahahaha. The lighting and decor is amazing, it's very much on trend while still being timeless. I don't think there is much that will age bad. Except for the arches then '-)
It was an absolute pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the fruits of your hard work.
Woohoo! Thanks for watching and glad you liked it. Interesting that you commented on the arches upstairs. We actually built them square. Finished them out with drywall and everything and I hated them so pulled them apart and re-arched them like they were when we bought the house 😳
1st Awesome buy!
2nd I would love it if you can…
Thank you to the Men that made your home come back to life.
I can honestly say that I’m a Proud Latina, my Mexican father made me a proud woman. For me to be stopped in my tracks to watch you & the men doing a spectacular job. Made me feel proud to see what Americans the melting pot on earth, see what others say about Mexicans. This shows others what hard work and determination is. To struggle leaving behind family & the country to come to ours. Just gives me Pride & very Proud of your crew. Please let the Men know what they show the world. Hard work and determination!
😁😁😁
Never thought I would like modern, minimalist styling but I am blown away. Less frills gives a calming effect. Great designer. Great job.
😍😍😍
Absolutely stunning! Enjoy your new home and thanks for taking us on the journey!
Thanks so much! 😊 and thanks for watching along!
Probably the coolest renovation video I’ve ever seen! Too bad all that once beautiful farm land is now a subdivision now! Franklin used to be so different! Amazing vision and job making it beautiful!
We agree!
It takes some seriously big devotion to take on a project like this! I really like how you eliminate most of the dormers in the front! That was a great decision it looks so much better without them!!!!
Thanks for watching along and glad you liked it!!
A MAAAA VINGGGGG BEST ONE IVE EVER SEEN AND U SEEM LIKE GOOD HEARTED PEOPLE GOD HAS BLESED U

Exceptional video. Not often do I never skip 10 seconds. Inspirational. Love from 🇬🇧
Wow, thank you! Glad you enjoyed it… as long as you’re not a Man City fan. Otherwise, we’ve got beef 😂
Awesome Video, With my insta reels attention span, I still managed to watch the entire video without skipping. Love from Pakistan 🇵🇰
Wow! Well thanks for watching buddy 😁😁
Let me start off by saying this is the first video I’ve ever seen of yours and I can honestly see I watched the entire video It’s definitely a big task to take on a burn down house. I personally helped with a burnt down kitchen and living room & it was a lot more work than we thought it was gonna be. As a few people said before I loved the old pillars it made it look like a mansion, and now it just looks like a really big house, but it definitely wouldn’t look right with the interior but overall, you did an amazing job. I just wish I could have found it months ago so I could’ve watched along week to week
No worries buddy! The journey is all still there for whenever you feel like grabbing an episode. You just know the ending now in advance 😂
Or do you…?!
Your house is beautiful, congratulations to the workers, who did a wonderful job, congratulations, I loved watching your video!👏💯🇵🇹
Glad you liked it and thanks so much for watching along!
What a Amazing ride;;from the ashes then back to life...Just beautiful!!!!!Thank you for sharing your adventure

What an absolute amazing transformation, absolutely stunning home.
Thanks so much! Appreciate you watching along and glad you liked it! I'm dropping a new video hopefully this week with a better walkthrough now it's all furnished so subscribe it you haven't so you don't miss it!
Man OSHA would be livid to some of those works xD But nicely done house and great work!
Glad you liked it!
I remember reading about this home burning down and to see it transformed is amazing. Glad someone saved it and the land is great too !
😀😀😀
Its an awsome result, and a nice House.
But Holy moly, you guys are doing some dangerous work in this video.
80% of What you doing would not be allowed in Denmark. No safty Lines, No mask, No scaffolding, doing dangerous work on latters. No helmets, and dosent look like all is useing safety shoes, No railing where it needs to be.
But I also know that you don't have the same rules in USA. I hope all the workers are okay after this projekt. 😮
Congratulations on the house. Much love from Denmark ❤️
Everyone was absolutely fine! And thanks for watching 😃
Glad I don't live in Denmark with all them rules😅
😳
Watched the whole video without skipping and oh my days no words just stunningly awesome ❤
Woohoo! Thanks for watching. Hit subscribe as we're working on a full walkthrough that will be dropping soon!
I remember reading about the article on facebook about the fire. I always been curious about what happend to it. Thank you UA-cam for adding it to my front page. You did an amazing job.
Woohoo! Glad it showed up :)
Beautiful renovation. I am with you on the windows. The square windows make it look more modern. Much better than the rounded windows. In my opinion. Great job done by all the construction workers, especially installing those windows. YIKES! A little tense putting that big heavy window in over the front door.
Thanks so much! 😊
Stunning transformation...the new style chosen is a stark contrast, but I love it!!! So much better!
Thanks so much! 😊
I wish i had the money to take something from trash to treasure 😢 Excellent video.❤
Thanks for watching along!
Wow!!! Amazing to watch this be deconstructed and remade into a beautiful new house! Great work all around. Loved how you documented the house. I recognize some comments were not happy especially with the new pillars. But I actually think it was a great solution to your problem of replacing the pillar worth 30k!! As long as you love the end product that’s all that matters.
Right! It’s hard to balance everything and still be conscious that resale value also plays a part. We can’t just build whatever we want and it’s out of place with the surroundings!
I think what you did with the house is absolutely stunning considering you kept its original blueprint, just the same when it was rebuilt
However, I think the old house had a charm about it that you don’t see much anymore
I just wish you had kept some of the old elements like those beautiful columns
I hear ya!
@@realmikethakurthose columns should have been kept maybe you can restore them in a future upgrade. Would look amazing!
@Inthelifeofshahzaib 5 of them are still there inside the squares!
@@realmikethakur yes, was glad to see that you put in support columns around them and hid them up instead of removing them. Maybe something for a future renovation project..
@realmikethakur The house is a Colonial design with gables. Pre-fire gave it a traditional design, so the former column design made sense. The new columns complements the post fire Midwestern design, which is all clean lines. The column getting knocked down happened for a reason. Hats off to you for an amazing restore and remodel.
This video was so well made. Respect!
Glad you enjoyed. We've got a new video dropping soon so don't forget to subscribe 😀!
A really rare thing to see people restoring a beautiful home nice job ben most just distroy and reuse the land
😁😁😁
The amount of natural light you brought into this to give it life is amazing! My dream one day is to have natural lighting like this 💕 amazing work!!
The light makes the house. I can’t tell you how amazing it is as the sun moves through the whole house all day into the evening. That’s one of those things you can’t put a price on but when you enjoy it, it’s 😍😍😍
@@realmikethakur I completely agree!
Stunning!!! I can’t wait to see the home furnished.
Very soon!
Everything is beautiful! Love how you made the hallway ceilings have extraordinary features. Great job!!!
Thanks so much Natasha! 😊
This is absolutely stunning work. Great attention to detail, and I'm happy to see that you didn't go cheap just because it felt easy on the pockets. You did the right thing in order to keep the home looking incredible.
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed watching!
It was a beautiful house before the fire But it’s beautiful and very Unique looking !!! Wishing you and your family many blessing in your new home. Thank you for sharing. 🇺🇸
Thanks so much!
I have this house forever saved in my Zillow because of the crazy photos of the fire. So cool that you bought it
Wow. That's so fun! I've still got that saved pic from zillow too!
I have to congratulate you on a spectacular job. The fact that you saved the house is great in itself however you went on to salvage everything you could instead of it all going into a landfill. We need more builders to salvage. Thank you to you and all the hard workers for giving it a new lufe. Just breathtaking.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed watching!!
ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT!! Thank you so much for posting this!! Thoroughly enjoyed every second! Bless you and yours! 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
I watched ALL the single episodes today then ff this episode to the end. Man if you would have made your videos longer I'm sure you would have blown up o UA-cam. Your renovation really deserves to be seen as it was awesome. Is the guest house next???? 😁
Dude. Don’t even joke about the guest house! I’ve fought my wife the whole way not wanting to start another ‘project’!
I am glad you are a young man, I know for sure I could not have done the stress that this job would have taken. Hats off to you for hanging in there till the end. The results are stunning.
😁😁😁
Amazing transformation from old world charm to modern day charm. 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!!!
Simply WOW. I see a lot of art deco aspects. You’ll enjoy it for many years to come. Beautiful design. So up to date and modern. The way it was before it burned was such an outdated design.
Wow, thank you! Appreciate you watching along 😍
Looks beautiful! Congratulations. What a transformation.❤
Thanks so much!
This was a good job I mean, that was really nice and it wasn’t overdone. You took the style of them columns and made it look nice and more up-to-date. I love everything that you did inside the house. It made it look homey and comfortable not overdone but just right, you made me feel at home just watching it. Congratulations to you and your wife on the job. Well done wonderful wonderful wonderful it was just so beautiful.
Thanks so much for watching!! Glad you liked the styling 😍
Just fabulous. You guys did an amazing thing. Thanks for letting us follow the progress.
Aw. Thanks so much for watching and the kind words!!
HOLY MOLY! What a stunning final product. Really well done.
Glad you liked it!!
Wow, you have literally turned the burnt house into the most beautiful home for you and your family to live in. Your Hispanic/Mexican team of men were working their bloody arses off, not affrid to take risks, making their own ladders as didnt hsvr one big enough, (where theres a will theres a way) they worked as a team to get the jobs done. Not sure you would get the British lads working as hard as the hispanic/Mexican men. The house looks amazing and i bet the family cant wait to personalise their rooms etc. Look forwards to seeing whats next. Hi from Ascot Berks.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching along!!! Got a couple more videos dropping soon so subscribe and hit the bell if you want to get notified 😁
Outstanding video! I wish the video never stopped, the videography and everything about the video is perfect. And the house, what a majestic outcome! The house really looks incredible in the daylight and everything comes perfectly together. You really couldn't tell that this house was burned down to the point where it was declared unrecoverable. Absolutely unbelievable. Well done Mike!
Woohoo! Thanks so much for watching along 😁
Just found this video and had to watch, then subscribed, from Wisconsin. The amount of work and talent behind the design and structure is phenominal!
I am in love with the kitchen, just exquisite. I wanted to see the front door up close. It looks gorgeous from afar. I love the contrasting black and white front facade.
The grey bathroom, kids? I want to paint with that color, it's gorgeous! It's warm and inviting. Like a hint of brown in the grey. Striking!
I will go on; the driveway with the diamond pattern, the master closet-so dreamy, black trim throughout, the ash wood, with its beautiful grain, especially used as crown molding, amazing. The wood flooring, and tile throughout, ugh!
Sorry, I couldn't stop😅, absolutely exquisite!
You should be very proud. Not only did you save this beautiful home, but you get to live in this masterpiece!❤❤❤
Aw thanks for the kind words! So glad you like how it turned out. 😍😍
Mike, that turned out very beautiful and well done.
Thanks so much for watching along! Glad you liked it but there a secret reveal coming soon 😱
Incredible work Mike & Team. Beautiful home!
Thanks so much!
I'm impressed with the workers. They're very versatile, and they can do everything. I was hoping you were keeping it the brick color. Also, I wondered if the gravel delivery was for a neighbor. Your wife has my dream stove & oven combo.
I actually liked the red brick color of the original house but as some of the brick was painted there was no going back.
And yes, the gravel was for another home in the neighborhood but they just delivered more instead of picking it up!
I have a small business doing construction but primarily install windows and doors. The transformation on this house was insane. Most people would shy away from buying this after seeing all the black and soot. You took this head on with fantastic results. Great Job! There are a couple of small things I would change but that's really just personal preference. Nice!
Thanks for watching and the encouragement!
good job, i like the new house over the old one, all the old features were inauthentic but this modern look is true to what the house is, a modern house
Glad you like it!!
I remember this mansion caught fire , I live in Franklin as well , beautiful restoration Mike!!!
Woohoo! Thanks for watching along!
I was supposed to be going to bed but here we are almost a hour and a half later I remember seeing this house on the news so I became kind of invested in seeing how it went and I'll say it wasn't disappointing at all great job on bringing something that was thought to be lost back to life my favorite rooms are the master closet and the all black bathroom I would love to see the whole house once it's completely done and furnished
I was wondering if you planned on doing a video on the cost breakdown and if it was worth it in the end?
I'm surprised with how well this video was that the single videos you did didn't gain more traction
Yeah, I thought the videos would do better along the journey but 💁. It’s all good. We are working on a couple more bonus videos. The lower level is now finished so that will be next I think and then we may be able to get one out with it furnished a little more. Just trying to figure out some details.
There are parts I love and parts I don’t love. The lattice is a no-go for me. The new columns are fantastic and all the bathrooms are wonderful! Great job!
😀😀😀
I hate to say this and I'm probably going to cop it but that house before the fire had soo much class and character, the steel stair case, the steel balustrades and the way they curved at the top, the columns at the front the bathrooms and cornices, i could go on and on, it must of been absolutely beautiful, with all due respect i know you put in allot of hard work and money to get it to where it is now but its lost all that character and now just looks like a box
It’s ok. I know everyone has different taste 😁. No feelings hurt at all and thanks for watching along anyway! Maybe next time we’ll get to do a traditional style home 😂
I agree in a way like u have to bring back the old American regal feel and look to it restore it back to original but it’s his money and investment . Our opinions .
@user-yf7rt2pz2u it’s a balancing act. Part of it is that I just like the modern, simple clean lines but another part is keeping it in balance with what else is being built around us. All the new houses here at this level are modern so if we built something traditional we’d lose equity for the future.
So glad I found you! Really something else!!
😍 glad you enjoyed! Don't forget to subscribe. We're working on a couple more videos to show more of what we did based on what people have been asking for!
this video is stunning! this journey is so beautiful and i appreciate all of you for taking us on this journey
Thank you so much!!
My opinion - it's very pretty, but it just doesn't have the charm it once did. I'm a sucker for retro mansions, and while it's beautiful, it would have looked better if you'd kept some of the old-fashioned chandeliers, railings, spiral staircases, etc. I know you don't think so, but that sort of thing really can fit into a modern mansion. I personally would have restored it to the colonial look, as that is honestly the style I prefer. By no means do I mean that it's ugly, it's a gorgeous mansion, but I far prefer the alternative.
It’s ok! We know everyone’s taste is different. We wanted to try something modern and in that surrounding area, all the luxury homes are pretty much built that way so we had to think about value also compared to others. Maybe next time I’ll do a traditional style 😱😂
I had the same thought, as I also loved the spiral staircase and the railings, the original columns, and those tall window arches 😊
But I also love the modern minimalistic look, so yeah I would have gone with a blend of them both If I was a millionaire and could afford to ofcourse 😅
No worries! I'm good with folks liking some of the previous styling. We actually spent months trying to make the corned staircase work and even rebuilt it exactly the same, but there were other things at plat that ultimately made us abandon the idea.
😀😀
Saying hi from Melbourne Australia. 🇦🇺
Great job 😊👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Well hello Melbourne!! Thanks for joining us on the ride 😍😍
Have they heard of suction cups for the window install? That was nerve-wracking.
I think they were just so heavy the cups felt risky to hold the weight!

First time watching Mike, and i love his enthusiasm. How he is still a men that enjoys helping fixing his house, and finds joy in the little things. Even though he is rich, he is still funny and doing the thing any other men would do😂

you can have some one re glaze the bathtub to any color you want and you get to keep your tub
Yep. It was a little more complex with this specific tub due to the waterfall edges rolling around.
in where I live we build houses with bricks and it has to be earthquake safe so this is very scary for me personally a house made of wood and idk if your rich you could have built a house with bricks so that the fire problem wouldn't be that big of a problem (the old owners) and appart from that love the Reno and love that u used this as an opportunity to make ur dream home
Wood framing is pretty much the standard build technique here in TN.
To be honest. It must have been beautiful before the fire. It had style, personality. Now, it just looks sterile. But it's your money, your house. Hope you're happy with it.
Yes we are. Once everything is unpacked and moved in fully it’ll feel a little more homely but we wanted a minimalist feel.
Never thought i'd be so interested of watching a restoration vid of a burned house haha. Great fricking job you have done to the house
