I know there was some risk inherently but the amount of kids you just inspired was priceless. They’re gonna tell all their friends, and who knows how many of them will pursue aviation one day. A helicopter landing in my town when I was 5 is part of what inspired me to be a pilot! 🤙🏻
Chris is the salt of the earth. He’s a huge man with a huge heart, who goes above and beyond for our community. I was there that day with my 6 year old daughter and she can’t stop talking about how cool it was when the helicopter landed in town. FYI, the ice cream shop referenced in the video is next door to Chris’ shop, BobaQue. It’s called Bonnidell’s and is a staple of the community. So are Pauly’s Pizza, Molly-O’s sno-cones, Marsala’s Market, Wine Bar, Padavan’s, Casa Mia, and The Bridge Coffee House. All within a 2 minute walk of where Matt landed.
From England and this video inspired me to book my first helicopter lesson which I'm doing this Saturday at Popham airfield Hampshire UK. Thanks Matty just binged your videos from last week.
That was a good video. Everybody was super friendly. The officer, Chris, the barbecue man you were friendly with the kids. The kids were excited to see you. The parents were respectful of you. It was all route a good vibe video.
Now I have to go meet Chris, the BBQ owner. That food looked good. The burnt end sandwich,........and those ribs, some coleslaw and I think I can die happy.
Cool video! there must be something about chopper pilot; A friend of mine would rent a machine to keep her hours up. She would pop by her son's school, pick him up, and take him off to the city for a movie and food. Just for the heck of it!
Born and raised in St. Charles. The area he landed was all farm field when I was growing up. Got a ride in a helicopter at landed in the field next to Walmart in harvester. My first time ever flying, was a great time. Safe flying and will watch some more. Edited to add that at the end I see that you are landing at Skylink Aviation. I did some flying with Herman back in 2015 and is a great instructor.
Being a family of generational pilots all under 5'5 and I've never understood the issue with height... My god congrats on the channel growth Mattylp, well deserved!
Man im really happy to be in germany, but damn i fking admire you guys for doing stuff like that over there !! some really Kind people over there, greetings and wish u always a safe flight
Dont think about stealing, think about anyone touching literally anything. And you dont notice. And then, you cant just stop at the roadside but are falling free 😅. I wouldnt take that risk either, doesnt even have to be in bad spirits.@@Keith-ri2jg
Chances of it getting stolen are slim to none. Only 0.5% of the U.S. are flight-certified and the VAST majority are not in rural areas, so the real chance of someone being able to actually steal a helictopter successfully is practically zero haha. Well, at least assuming the person wants to come out of it alive.
I wonder how many got inspired by this... I think it was definitely worth it. Get a YT decal made for the heli so people can look you up and you won't have to keep repeating it. 😆
You promised a kid a ride. Following through at a later time could make all the difference to that kid. Maybe he may become a pilot. It would also make a great future video. Teach him to follow through and keep your word. You will make not his day but his lifetime!
I overnighted in St. Charles, MO Tuesday night last week. Ate at Toni's on Main St. Excellent food and that lovely downtown was incredible. UNFORTUNATELY, I was in just a Dodge pickup...sigh...
This is the first video I've seen on this channel. WOW am I jealous. First you own your own HELICOPTER and then I see you land and pick up the most delicious looking food I've seen in a while. Nice!
My uncle used to be a heli pilot, but w here I live you're only allowed to land and depart on designated airports. If you want to land like this you need a special one-time permit and you need to get it weeks in advance. This does look like fun!
Really like your chopper. Dicey landing area. You said, "I don't want to fly over anybody." Well, you succeeded -- instead you flew over _everybody_! ;-) Assume you know the rules better than I do. Got to say that BBQ place made me hungry. I'd go in a heartbeat if I was in your area. Also, I agree with @AFJ_ comment about inspiring the kids. Nice job.
Working on my FAA CFI-H. But hey all this time I thought you were MattyIP, and to hear you explain it you're MattyLP. Glad I got that straight. Did I mention I follow your channel and LOVE your rando flights to EVERYWHERE? I do. Loved the SR guy on his last day. Good job you. Loved McD's for lunch. Dude, I've done weird off-airports to a destination that the joy never goes away. Now that I have to rent-a-ride the rules make this tougher, so your channel gives me a good escape. Thank you, Matty LP :)
That is the good life! Food looked really good too. I was from Wentzville, but live in Utah today. You might have flown over my university, UMSL, but is really close to the airport so maybe not.
I love char on my BBQ. Never heard of it being a menu item though. I live a little over an hour from St Charles and now I have yet another food place I want to try when I take my next trip. I also wanna try Imo's pizza. ;)
Hey Matty, I just rewatched this and am curious about your communications with ATC. How does that go when you inform them where you are arriving and departing from?
That spot would be forward thinking to put down designated helo spots with proper signage and lights. You probably couldn't get Heavy D's Blackhawk in there, but small helo's like yours wouldn't have any issues.
That’s insane. I fly a paramotor (powered paraglider) and always get people talking to me when I’m taking off from a park, but it’s never been that crazy!
One kid says "can i rev it " 😂😂
You cant rev up a helicopter😂😂😂
lmfao
@@maxproracing-j4f yeah you can lol
@fgteev this is for you
@@maxproracing-j4fthat's the point
If you ever buy a bigger bird, Chris has to be the first man to get a ride.
yea Chris is a cool guy
IM THE BIGGEST BIRD, IM THE BIGGEST BIRD

I remember they had a military helicopter land at our middle school, super dope.
As a flight Nurse we have flown to a few schools as part of our outreach and education program.
Showing those kids that the sky is the limit. Love seeing the youth inspired by positive role models.

In a helicopter ? Salt of earth … lol democrat detected
Thank you for being a positive ambassador for general aviation.
From England and this video inspired me to book my first helicopter lesson which I'm doing this Saturday at Popham airfield Hampshire UK. Thanks Matty just binged your videos from last week.
Chris just casually 7 foot 1 🤣🤣 what a guy.
Man you should land there more often. All them excited kids. You gave them something to work for. I would land there more often. You're inspiring
That was a good video. Everybody was super friendly. The officer, Chris, the barbecue man you were friendly with the kids. The kids were excited to see you. The parents were respectful of you. It was all route a good vibe video.
That BBQ looked awesome. Love these videos. Need more!
Now I have to go meet Chris, the BBQ owner. That food looked good. The burnt end sandwich,........and those ribs, some coleslaw and I think I can die happy.
Lol, that big guy jamming in was hilarious 😂😂
My mouth literally started watering when you showed the BBQ!
Cool video! there must be something about chopper pilot; A friend of mine would rent a machine to keep her hours up. She would pop by her son's school, pick him up, and take him off to the city for a movie and food. Just for the heck of it!
I love this guy, he always makes my day even better with aviation.
First one of your videos I have seen. Really enjoyed watching. You could tell how genuine you were with everyone. We need more of this in the world!
Born and raised in St. Charles. The area he landed was all farm field when I was growing up. Got a ride in a helicopter at landed in the field next to Walmart in harvester. My first time ever flying, was a great time. Safe flying and will watch some more.

That former pilot was there till the end, how generous!
Man Chris hooked you up bro! And as a fellow Chopper pilot myself I agree I think you burned TF outta that landing spot! Respect brother!!!
Really enjoying your channel here in the UK. Keep those videos coming!!
Matty I love your channel, it's the coolest place to be and to see the things that you have experienced, You are awesome, 👍😃
My dad was a private pilot then a fighter pilot in the Marines so I grew up with all kinds of aircraft day and night. This was a real treat for kids!
I LOVE all the reactions! This definitely needs to be the staple.
Had a good laugh watching Chris "try on" your helicopter! 😂
Being a family of generational pilots all under 5'5 and I've never understood the issue with height...
My god congrats on the channel growth Mattylp, well deserved!
This is great, instead of showing the kids bad stuff, you fly in and show the children the capabilities of what's out there. Good job my friend.
“Landing for dinner downtown made the cops come”
Wow! Those cops must be really big aviation enthusiasts if your helicopter made them THAT excited! 😳
💀💀
I imagine they were worried for public safety after some moron lands in such an unsafe way.
Ayooo??!
New town really does have some good food spots! Glad to see this channel grow so much, keep up the good content and fly safe!
Dude... Chris just looks like he can pick up that R22 under his arm and walk off with it - and that food, damn... that looked real good :D
Bro the food looked amazing. always fun watching your videos flying and interacting with everyone.
That crop duster guy was cool as heck
Man im really happy to be in germany, but damn i fking admire you guys for doing stuff like that over there !! some really Kind people over there, greetings and wish u always a safe flight
How nervous are you leaving your bird open and unattended? Probably triplecheck everything. I wont do it to be honest.
The likely hood that someone who would even attempt to steal a chopper would even know how to start it up is super slim
Dont think about stealing, think about anyone touching literally anything. And you dont notice. And then, you cant just stop at the roadside but are falling free 😅. I wouldnt take that risk either, doesnt even have to be in bad spirits.@@Keith-ri2jg

wayy to many kids around that aircraft at once lol my anxiety 10/10 I was like dont touch that, get away from that, dont stand on that
yea this kid that landed there is a moron and should have his licence revoked immediately.
Seems like a wholesome community man keep livin life
The kid is a moron who should have his licence revoked immediately he put a lot of people in danger
I wonder how many got inspired by this... I think it was definitely worth it. Get a YT decal made for the heli so people can look you up and you won't have to keep repeating it. 😆
That's what came to my mind. Young boys around a real flying machine. Maybe at lease one future pilot.
@@pgnandt ,
I would think more than that, kids are automatically drawn to all things that fly.
Thank you for your content and taking all of us along for the ride. Warm greetings from Adelaide, South Australia.
I live in Clarksville, TN and come up to St. Louis to work sometimes. I have got to go try Boba que. It will most defiantly be a stop for food.
**Definitely**, lol. I hope you don't mind Wes. I have some kin in Columbia, and Kirksville, Names are Nichols, and Sims. Be safe, my friend.

That BBQ looks amazing! About to do a cross-country trip this weekend and that restaurant is right in the path!!! Will be seeing you soon, Chris!
4:00 way to crush that lil boys dream LMAO
I was waiting for Chris to just lean over and pick up the chopper 😂
Y’all’av the best content.

Bobaque. That’s some excellent BBQ. I knew where you were going when you did your first approach.
Great video as always! Keep up the great work! From a Northern Irish fan!
i know what i'm having for dinner. that bbq looks so good

Handshake you gave the cop seemed interesting
He fits in, take him up!! ❤
This is by far the DOPEST FUKIN thing ever. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Please post more! I find your videos awesome man
What did your copter cost? And getting your licence and lessons? Thank you cool videos! Inspired me at 64 lol
if someone ends up going to that BBQ spot, let us know!
Why?
Matt living my dream. Awesome.

That Chris guy is a beast and a great character. I’ll definitely be coming by for some BBQ.
As a former rotary wing pilot, it’s always interesting to see how the local police react to a landing. 😂
Such a great video. Thanks for making this
I was woundering when you saluted the bbq lad if he needs a ride somewhere and then I saw how tall he is, I am 6.3 but boy he is a gentle giant :)
That is the good life! Food looked really good too. I was from Wentzville, but live in Utah today. You might have flown over my university, UMSL, but is really close to the airport so maybe not.
i loveee these type of videos please do more!🙏🏻🤞🏻 10:05
Nice Policeman. Such a cool guy
20 years ago I was driving in the delta, and a crop duster flew right next to me and we waved at each other. Pretty crazy.
Honestly I waited to see the food an I wasn’t let down that shit looked bomb as hell 😂
You made those kids' day.
Mattyl great video sir nice helicopter great video
I love char on my BBQ. Never heard of it being a menu item though. I live a little over an hour from St Charles and now I have yet another food place I want to try when I take my next trip. I also wanna try Imo's pizza. ;)
Nice people, cool cops
Lmfao 😂😂😂😂
The kid was so excited then but can't fly today 💔💔💔💔💔💔
First time seeing this channel! This is amazing.
love your content man
Hey Matty, I just rewatched this and am curious about your communications with ATC. How does that go when you inform them where you are arriving and departing from?
Not trying to be negative but I am super curious about what the FAA says about these types of landings.
Oh wow, I Live like down the Road from New Town, I live in St.Charles I am really hoping I can see you one day fly to some place in St.Charles
I had so much fun watching this. Felt like I was right there!
Also, holy crap, your channel is exploding fast!
Its a simple formula.... very expensive toys + unnecessary usage of said toy = views
When I lived in Memphis they had the best Barbeque's, there was "Loebs", "Little Pigs", and several more, that's about all I ate when I lived there.
That private pilot was the man. Stuck around to keep your takeoff area clear.
BBQ looked amazing but that Cyclone shirt was fire!
When Chris got himself in the helicopter I was thinking about Jaw's in the James Bond movie driving around with his head poking through the sun-roof.
Nice night flight... and nice food too!
That´s amazing! Regards from Portugal.
That was great!!! Such a cool neighborhood.
Chris seems so chill, his bbq looks damn good too
The kid is a moron who should have his licence revoked immediately he put a lot of people in danger

Yes, land there more often. Your inspiring young minds. And that BBQ! YUM!
