I love road racing, I got nearly 400 starts and 60 wins but only 2 wins from 70 on ovals. It’s a completely different beast.

Fuck yeah dude, that first NASCAR win really hits you hard after working so damn hard for it. Oval Racing is a hell of a lot harder than y'all think. I haven't won on something not called a plate track since Las Vegas on NR03 in '21.
Crazy how you got your first win at Dover tho. That track is a roller coaster. Probably one of the most driver skill and testicular fortitude tracks on earth

@@RadiationRacing no it really isn’t. The corner exits and entrances are heavily cambered
@@RadiationRacing the surface is not tarmac it’s concrete so there is less traction and more camber on the corner exits mean you have to commit to a higher exit speed. If you do that tho, you risk slamming the wall at 140 mph. Part of the reason why dover is respected by a lot of drivers here

Dover is a great track!
The thing about oval racing is the fact that if your not on pace your done there's nothing you can do. In rally, F1 and other road and street races if your off pace, just perform on the corners and you can do relatively well. (Hamilton did this forget what race but he lost engine power and still won.)
You really should install the Jimmy Johnson spotter pack for oval though. You can get the PG version or the one with cursing.

I started in late march and by michigan, or week 8 in season 3, I had gotten my first 3 wins. 2 Open A class and 1 NiS race I dominated.

I had my pedals break in Kansas NiS fixed. Went from last to first and caused a massive wreck bc of it

I feel you man. I’ve been so close and come up a hair short. Haven’t been at it seriously for that long but still. I’m going to get mine this year!! It sucks to lead the whole race and someone saves just enough tire to pass you on the last one or two laps! 😡
Anyone who thinks oval racing matched cars is easy has zero interest in racing and probably driving all together!
Put a paper page on the floor give everyone a pen and go in circles until someone wins and see if you passed anyone without leaving the track!

i have alot of sim racing experience, i won my first iRacing race (edit: i mean my first race ever in iRacing) by like 2 seconds a lap (i was taking it SOOOOO seriously) i didn't even know how to save replays. i had basically all 1st place wins in my entire race history by time i found an old friend in the game who told me that he has NEVER won a race, and that in iRacing it was a rare thing. i couldn't believe it, so i started stalking other profiles and it was true! like this video because it reinforces that, and shows how i am really a big waste of potential who will never amount to anything.

I race road predominantly but I like oval. Oval is pretty hard really. Steering is super sensitive but a blast. I’ve finished p2 a bunch on oval
for me i almost exclusively oval race because i find it a lot easier than road lol

When you’re in the SOFs you really should be based on your skill level, wins start to become few and far between. I always go through swings. My irating will be a little on the lower side, 3000ish, and I’ll win like 3 races in a week and when it bumps back up to almost 4K I go like 2 months without winning anything lol.
