A tip that I don’t think everyone knows about is that control bindings can be combinations of buttons. For example, I use the push button input on my 7 way switch as a modifier button. This acts like a shift button on a keyboard. I can hold this button in combination with other buttons to give them another layer of functionality. This is really useful if you have a steering wheel without a lot of buttons.
The GRP thing is also a great way to race with friends. You can join your own somewhat private session and crack on however you'd like. No need to pay for a hosted session.
I haven't played iRacing since 2020 bc I sold my sim equipment after I moved to a smaller space. However, I wanted to drop in your video to give you some support. Some day I'll have the space to do some sim racing again! And when the day comes, I'll be sure to go back to this video. Thanks for all the awesome content!
I did not know about Tip #3, and I always wondered why iRacing didn't allow a few extra minutes of time between these types of open to fixed races such as the porsche cup and gt3 series. But now I have the option to join anyway, albeit with only 1 lap to qualify. Thanks Ollie! Now I got one tip for you, fuel till the end of the race, thanks Dave! 😂
To add to the crashes one, you can use an xbox controller and bind a button to skip to the next incident or the previous incident aswell. Just go to controls and bind it to whatever button you want to on an xbox controller you have connected to your pc. Hope this helps
Doing Iracing for a couple of years now, never knew there was a options for more Practise sessions within the practise session. Basic Ollie keeps blowin' my mind! Did i mention, the best iracing content on the interwebs? Proud to be a Member :)
@@djsuupaa Yeah, happens quite often for me that it only stays on the currently selected driver and skips forward by a bit. Only fix that I know is quitting and re-starting the replay to go through the incidents. Is that what you meant?
With regards to tip 6 the newest UI update gave us the 'Spectate Sessions' feature - it takes the guessing out of finding out which split you're in and also tells you SoF, number of drivers, session ID etc along with allowing you watch any of them. Very nice QoL addition.
Awesome, you helped me out with the joining different sessions a week or so when you arer streaming. while they are not the main things people ask, these things are soo useful! ggreat tips Ollie!
Another tip is joining a race as a ghost. You can join a race and make a test drive as a ghost so that other drivers do not see you but you see the other cars. You're driving as a ghost so you cannot damage or hinder other drivers, it's very nice for testing and find some speed..
Can you dual register while in the lobby of your split during practice, qualifying , and race? Or can only do this during the race? Additionally, can you dual register once the race session loads and you are sitting idle on the grid waiting for everyone to join before the pace car pulls away? Trying to figure out ways to do this not while racing, because I almost always undercut in the pits to get more clean laps.
3. Better option is to bind keys showing "next" or "previous incident". 4. Have that on maximum, still get gaps of replay during enduros. I guess it's just iRacing things
Regarding the "seeing all cars"; sounds exactly like the old Grand Prix Legends bandwidth patch that allowed you to see more than the default number of opponents online.
Here’s one you might want to expound on: Racing in WATCH MODE, where you can race in a live race, from the start or jump in a race already in progress, invisible to other drivers and unaffected by potential contact. This has been my best training tool in iRacing! You don’t have to be limited to just watching a top split race…you can enter it without fear of crashing other cars or affecting your iRating.
@@andrewbrown751 select a race from the list, after the clock expires for the start scroll down and find your race, after 1.5 minutes click on the line for your race. Depending on how many racers you’ll see blue rectangles for each lobby, top lobby is always the slowest….enter the race from the pits for standing starts, rolling starts you can start from any position…I start from the back of the field. BEST WAY TO PRACTICE WITHOUT FEAR! Good luck! 👍🏻
How do you get the bottom taskbar to not show up when you alt+tab out to go back to the UI? It always goes into a windowed mode whenever I leave the sim to look at the UI so I just never do.
I have a Reverb G2, and I have windows+y bound to a single button on my mouse and another button bound to the windows key. I press windows+y to switch focus from desktop to the headset and then I press windows to open the desktop in the headset where I have the iRacing UI ready on my desktop. Just remember to switch back to the sim screen before you close the virtual desktop and put the focus back to the desktop, so your mouse will work in the sim.
For the time slots of the special events races, DON'T trust the banner in the UI! With my mate we were sad to prepare for bathurst 1000 but the first timeslot in the banner didn't exist. Sad to miss the opportunity to drive these cars wich doesn't come often...

Yup I do this
Learned something new. Underrated comment.
Wow game changing, thanks!
Yeah you can use the directional pad on the Logitech too.

A game changing tip I just found out about is active reset in test sessions. Saves so much time when learning parts of a track!
Thanks. Didn't know about that. I always thought this should be a feature.
Active Reset has been in the sim for a while now! I never hear people talking about it, it's so useful.
Where is the active reset?
@@offswitch1 You have to bind it, it’s in the controls menu

or just ctl 3 or ctl 1 to advance or reverse to the incidents
THANK YOU! I have been wanting to know how people do the “dual register” trick and was always scared of hitting forfeit haha
Definitely need a part 2! Just getting into iracing at the moment and I want to soak up as much info as possible. Keep up the great work Ollie!

If you want to watch crashes after your race Dave Cam style there are toggles in options for incidents
Does that toggle ever bug out for you? Where pressing “next incident” only moves the replay forward 5 seconds or so?
@@djsuupaa Yeah, happens quite often for me that it only stays on the currently selected driver and skips forward by a bit. Only fix that I know is quitting and re-starting the replay to go through the incidents. Is that what you meant?
@@djsuupaa it's a known bug. Still unfixed after quite a few years.

Been on iRacing for years yet I just learned 6 new things haha thank you great video
Thanks mate, didn’t know about the practice within practice tip, or joining another session whilst still in your own. Thanks again and very helpful
I stopped watching tip videos some time ago, but this caught my attention. You’ve come a long ways since I first subscribed 👍
Super useful, thanks! I was so confused at how you entered consecutive imsa races

NOOO GRP 16 WILL BE RUINED WHYYYY
I must say that yout tips about IMSA Open to fixed is amazing!
And as a starting streamer your blinking cars solution is a big plus for content.
Yeah but you can’t do proper qualifying on most tracks

Thanks for the helpful tips!! Practice alone and dual registration in particular 👍🏼👍🏼🏁
Awesome tips I ACTUALLY didn’t know about! Thanks Ollie!
You can also use Control 3 to go to crashes also. I use Right control and 3 on the number pad.
This might be the best tips video ever 👏
Top tier tips! Really helpful 👌 Thanks so much Ollie!
11:30 I've been wanting this forever! And it was always there.
1, 2, 4(!!), 5 and 6 were new to me. Thanks. :)

This is great, thanks for sharing Ollie - cheers!
Omg... Not exaggerating when I say the way to find race start times may have just changed my life 😂 cheers
Ty for your help and positive tips for us rookies ❤❤❤
Always happy for more tips. 😀😀😀
Thank you 🙏 Ollie some great tips mate !!! 😜👍🇦🇺
Question. I bought a car and a track. The dallera track and car. I bought it yesterday and I don’t have either one. Do you know why?
Woah! Had no idea about the connection speed! I got wiped out by an invisible car just last night. Top tip!
