James Franco on being Tommy: I did a bunch of weird shit listening to tapes and watching footage from filming. Dave on becoming Greg: We(Greg and I) had sushi and talked for 3 hours.
Well to be fair, Greg is a generic character. Playing Tommy was probably challenging and required more study since he had to match his accent and body language. Who knew portraying a terrible actor could lead him to a possible Oscar nomination.
I used to catch myself doing this with friends who had thick accents and spoke English at that level. You want to make them feel more comfortable by dropping some words, like they will understand you better. I stopped because I think it's better to give your friends an example of "proper" English. It's interesting to think he is doing Tommy's voice and that's why, but I don't think so.
After seeing "The Room" I thought Tommy was a joke. After reading "The Disaster Artist" I knew he was a decent guy, a good friend and a big weirdo. He is also a friend most people don't deserve.
There's your happy ending right there! Kinda like the ending of Tropic Thunder, where they get critical acclaim not for the movie they tried to make, but for the movie made afterwards about how much of a mess the production was
After reading the disaster artist he strikes me as a guy who can be difficult to hang around and could get irritating very quickly, but he tries hard to be a good friend and occasionally succeeds in doing so.
Random fact: Tommy Wiseau is actually James Franco in the future. He came back in time with his future money to make The Room, and then help with The Disaster Artist, the funds from which he used to make his millions that in the future allowed him to travel back in time to fund The Room and...well, if you've seen any of the Terminator films, you get it...
They spent 6 million making the room and only made a profit of 1.800$ in one week. But after a few years the movie became such a meme, because of how bad it was that it actually made a decent profit
It's kind of sad how Tommy has had to accept having to be "the clown" over the years as much as you know he secretly wants to be taken seriously. At least he's making bank.
I know that he was intentionally trying to make it a drama, but if anything, he should own what he did. I mean sure, what he made didn't live up to what he might have wanted, but at least he made something pivotal in film history.
I think after all these years, Tommy Wiseau must be extremely aware of how his film is bad, but now he's famous. That's what he wanted so hey, I'm probably sure he finally caught up to it and let the fame ride.
I hope they include the pat where Tommy suggests there being a scene where he has a flying car and he flies it off the rooftop. When asked why? He replies, "I don't know maybe Johnny is a secret vampire?" Brilliant.
Whenever I see that guy (Tommy Wiseau) I expect him to drop his wig, his glasses and yell "Ta-dah! Fooled you all, I'm actually an actor from Oregon! I've been playing this wannabe alien on and off since the late 80's and nobody has called me on it! Such a thrill, people!"
To be honest Dave looks like the weakest link of that otherwise probably awesome movie. Not saying he's a bad actor, but he doesn't look much like Sestero.
You can buy it from his online shop! Yes. Tommy Wiseau runs his own online shop and you'll get a free autographed picture of him. Probably ships from his apartment. I'm not kidding.
After watching a few interviews with James Franco about this film I'm convinced that he's going to do his Tommy accent forever. He can't control it anymore. It's like when Lelouch lost control of his Geass after using it too much.
Dude's probably fascinated by this guy. He has had the opportunity probably to learn so much more about Tommy than pretty much everyone else. I'd be starstruck, too.
TheCODster16 I actually met Tommy and Greg at a showing of the Room in London last week and when I asked him where the accent came from he said: "Could be French, could be German, or Colombian. Use imagination and you'll be right." He's such a cool guy.
It's not German but a lot of french, because he lived in Paris for a long time and speaks fluid french. But there's also a part in his accent that is from his home country. And nobody knows where that is. Somewhere in Eastern Europe.
Hes belgian actually, they also speak french but with a unique accent. If u listen to jean claude van damme u will hear a similar accent to tommy wiseaus if u listen carefully.. both are from belgium
James talking to Tommy is like a a grandson and 80+ year old grandparent where you try to understand what your grandparent is trying to say and fake smiling and saying a lot of "yeah"s
If you read "the Disaster Artist," it's revealed that Tommy Wiseau has a very mysterious and secretive history, and Tommy Wiseau is likely not his real name. I'm optimistically thinking that this may be part of why he's able to handle his reputation from "The Room;" Tommy Wiseau isn't his real identity anyway, so it's less of a big deal if that identity becomes a joke. At least I hope that's the case. I love bad movies, and don't want to think I'm being mean to the director/writer/star/director by doing so.
If you read Greg's book its alluded to (by Tommy) that he left the Soviet Block and came to America through France. If even a tenth of what Tommy said he went through is true... that man deserves mad respect and is a true American. Coming from over seas to make something of himself here in the states... Tommy is a very complex person, but also very caring. After reading what Greg wrote about him, i think anyone would be happy to have a friend like Tommy.
Tommy is a rich millionaire. He "made millions selling bird toys, frisbees, yoyos at both Eiffel tower and San Francisco, at Eiffel tower the bird toys gave him the nickname "Bird man". Bird in french is Wiseau. It's the way he chose his Hollywood last name. He's from Poland. He made so much with toys that he bought nice properties not far from wharf in San Fran, being from Poland they are obsessed with Levi's Jeans so logically he started Levi's Jeans Street Fashions USA and became a millionaire (But the properties were/are worth millions aside from the business), he still owns one of the properties to this day, still worth millions. Great spot, walking distance from wharf, very nice spot. Met Sestero at acting class in San Fran so he tried to legitimately be an actor. He moved to Hollywood, was rejected, so he took matters into his own hands and the rest is history. " -- John Razimus
What is up with all these The Room jokes and quotes? Grow up, guys. It's really cheap to make fun of people's work like that. Really cheap cheap cheapcheapcheap
I'm from Poland and 100% sure Tommy is from Poland ! you can't be wrong abt this accent if you from Poland. Also, my country is very strange, absurd just like Tommy, it fits perfectly. We were called ''the funniest barrack of Europe'' even when the communists ruled. We were in the East, and we wanted West. We are Slavs, but coz of our complex history we hate Russia&love U.S. An Australian, Michael Moran, who fell in love with Poland & lived in Poland even wrote book abt us '' A Country in the Moon: Travels in Search of the Heart of Poland''. And Tommy is also from the Moon, I mean - Poland, for sure :)
I'll say this, Tommy Wiseau is a much more secure guy than me. If I had to deal with someone mimicking my accent during an interview I would lose my mind.
Just Chilin Not mimicking him, James was copying his accent for months, it's part of his normal way of talking now, atleast until it completely goes away.
Jesus what is with all the hate comments? Franco seems like a totally chill guy and you can tell he likes and respects Tommy a lot I have no idea why people think he hates him and was disrespectful. The reason he slips in and out of the Tommy voice is because of his method acting. He talked like him for months so he hasn't lost it yet.
Thought the same thing! I saw the video first and then read the comments and was really confused as to when James Franco makes fun of Tommy. I think they both have respect for one another and act like friends/co-workers.
NOT So Average Joe when I watched it I kinda was under the assumption he talks like that to tommy because it’s how he talks and he’d understand Franco when he does that but as well as method and being immersed into character
NOT So Average Joe Lol. You don't know much if you're talking about "method"acting or saying that he can't control it. Franco is a chill guy but he is being a dick at times to Tommy. Tommy seems alright but Franco is making fun of his accent and movie which is fine but cringey because it's still fucked up. Just don't bullshit and defend Franco with some wack ass lie about method acting . Method acting isn't even the correct term for the technique and it has never made someone accidentally adopt another person's accent. Franco is taking from the Lee Strassberg technique and is purposefully doing that accent.
James slips in and out of that accent in multiple interviews, many of which don't even have Tommy in them. He is not doing it to make fun of him its just hard for him to fully get rid of it because he spoke that way 24/7 for months on end. And I don't know if you have seen The Disaster Artist but James plays the role magnificently and it never feels like he is just making a joke out of it, he completely disappears into the character and shows Tommy as a complex person with both a good and bad side.
Anthony Chesko i imagine hes annoyed by it be but it also is fine with the cult following this movie got since its still people who are big fans of the movie
Anthony Chesko agreed. I think hes just really kind tho. In an interview he said doesnt care what people say as long as they find something they like wether it be funny or w/e.
It just teaches one of lifes best lessons in how to handle embarrassment or insults, just roll with the joke. You can either be hurt by something or roll with it/laugh with it and move on.
its probably a difficult position. he wants to be a great actor and filmmaker which he isn't but he also wants to have a lot f fame and fans which he does.
Greg Sestero's reaction at 3:34 after Wiseau says that Sonny made him believe James would play him well is everything. He might as well be on the floor laughing with that reaction like I currently am
There's a clear difference between the Franco brothers here. Dave is much more polite while James takes up leg space so tommy looks left out. He mocks him in his accent. Little things but still.
The way I see it, James is a little obsessed with Tommy, and he WAS Tommy when they were shooting The Disaster Artist, so he feels connected to Tommy in a way, and subconsciously wants to be closer to him and analyze him.
Ignacio SA There is some underlying tension between Tommy and everyone else... It seems like James is trying to control the situation. Not in a bad way, more like, "Look, let me handle this film for you and I'll make you the star you want to be. Tommy. Stop being a prick!"
Somewhat similar body postition and language from Dave and James, Greg has a conflicting posture with a nervous thoughtful demeanor. Tommy is shockingly famous and hes a surprise millionaire. The entire premise is incredibly intelligent Why the fuck put 4 people snugly into a 3 person couch
They weren't making fun of them. Both greg and tommy know that dave and james have nothing but respect for them. In the Disaster Artist you can clearly tell that james was trying to do right by tommy and Greg. And show them in a positive light rather than ridiculing them.
Beautiful on so many levels... Heartfelt stories like this deserve to be at the Oscars & I've never heard anyone publicly compliment James on Sonny as he so well deserves! XD So interesting that it was Tommy.
Ezy Teri Reddy There's a distinction between not crushing your balls and fully spreading your legs. James is doing the latter and it seems a bit dickish
I just can't explain why, but I'm absolutely thrilled and delighted for Tommy to have his dream finally being born out of the awfulness that was his vision. It's extraordinarily charming when you think about it.
It kinna makes me think that Tommy Wiseau made "the Room" hilariously bad _on purpose,_ so he could create the ultimate cult classic of all time. I mean if that's true, he truly made a masterpiece.
I dont think it was legitly made, since he was thinking of making the main character a vampire. From what I read the last scene would be like him walking into the car, and smiling, revealing vampire teeth. Actually the main plot of the movie is not THAT bad. There are movies with much worse plot, but with better actors, and more professional dialogues which covered it. Many family movies follow the scheme of main character being a dick, and eventually turning into the good side, for whatever reasons, often in a few days or even hours - like a parent spending time with his kid first time for x years. In reality things like that doesnt happen that fast, people need more time to think about their situation and change. In "The Room" it was all based on a plausible scheme - girlfriend of a rich dude gets bored with him, and seeks new emotions with his friend. It happened so many times. Tommy Wiseau wanted to make a movie, and he made it. Dont you forget Sylvester Stallone also wrote the script for "Rocky", and eventually got the movie made. The worst thing actually is to be unable to finish something you have been working on through long time, because there were for sure plenty of great movies the world had never heard of, because the autors abandoned the ideas, and scrapped them, or left someplace never to be seen again.
4:25 I love this scene lol. Greg finally decides to say something and only 1 Franco acknowledges him for a split second. Then Dave's attention immediately goes back to Tommy and Greg looks up at the ceiling quickly. Then he laughs to himself and glances awkwardly at the camera.
Tommy speaks so funny😅 that end omg.. "my favourite part is the swimming pool scene" "Really? Its so random" "Yeah I like it. I like the camera movement in there" "Camera movement? The camera doesn't move.." 😂
You think Tommy ever gets sick of everyone's shit as they constantly impersonate him? Like I know they're not being dicks but like imagine philip seymour hoffman speaking like droopy the dog while doing promotion for capote. except capote was dead for the release of his biopic. and hoffman's dead too now. where am i
Weeneen Ala'hadouanan Do you think Arnold gets sick of people impersonating him? It's part of being an actor, if he couldn't handle it then he wouldn't be making movies in the first place. What makes Tommy so awesome is the fact that he doesn't give a fuck, he just does him.
The best actors have to identify with their characters in order to play them. James Franco just seems like he's being a jerk to Tommy, who I think is being a great sport about this whole thing. Also, how far does Franco need to man spread his legs?
Pepsolman James and Tommy have an artist’s kinship. They are like brothers talking about very similar experiences and making fun of each other based on their shared traits and experiences.
Idk, I wouldn't say its mocking him. At least for myself, its like when I tell a story about my friend with them in the same room. It's showing affection towards them. Just watch the way James looks at Tommy.
I think James has immersed himself into the role all day every day to the point he doesn't even recognize when he is doing the Tommy voice. It's not even a joke to James at this point cause he is just hanging with his pal. This voice he does happens too often during these Disaster Artist interviews to just be making fun of someone he had studied. He's balls deep in this.
The guy gives James Franco the rights for this movie, ultimately earning him a huge wad of cash, and all James Franco can do is show him thinly veiled contempt, while pretending to be his buddy.
I don't think there's any contempt at all. He was being a little annoying towards Tommy, true, but I don't think he was really trying to make fun of him. Probably he's just so used to being in character it's easy for him to slip back into it when Tommy's sitting next to him. He said numerous times how he admires Tommy and genuinely loves the story of The Room. I don't believe he would so passionately portray him and direct a movie about his story if he had any contempt for him. And Tommy seems generally pretty happy here. He says he has nothing to complain about. So I think it's safe to say it's all good.
I've gained so much respect for Franco after watching the Deuce where he plays two characters, so psyched for this movie; I think he can really pull it off!
Together they look like a transition from Greg Sestero to Tommy Wiseau
Yeah they do! Oh my god it's like it was meant to be lol.
Gustav Storck lmao its true!
holy fuk.just noticed that
Best comment ever
I scrolled too far down for this gold.
The way that James keeps slipping in and out of Tommy's broken English and accent is so funny
So true
Alex Mahany lol
ED yep
ED Who is saying that his performance is going to be nominated for an Oscar?
James has been doing the voice for so long that he's still accidentally doing it
Zach Volmar Yea that happens a lot I assume
But he only does the voice when he's talking to Tommy. Weird.
I used to catch myself doing this with friends who had thick accents and spoke English at that level. You want to make them feel more comfortable by dropping some words, like they will understand you better. I stopped because I think it's better to give your friends an example of "proper" English. I feel like it’s just the way he talks with tommy I talk differently depending on who I’m with I’m sure it’s a similar thing.
I don't think it's an accident in this but in other interviews I've seen he does do it
Love how when James is talking to Tommy he naturally falls into his impression of him😂😂
Daniel Davis OH HI MARK
It Tommy. Always Tommy.
You're tearing me apart Franco
Which one?
Chavi Pande The Franco Collective
So how's ur sex life
Oh hi Omar!
Oh hi Iman XD
After seeing The Room and read The Disaster Artist, it is so good to see Tommy, finally on that level. Hanging ou with actual Hollyood stars.
Doutor Gori Yeah he really deserves it.
Doutor Gori can you explain me please?
he finally made it
:_)
After seeing "The Room" I thought Tommy was a joke. After reading "The Disaster Artist" I knew he was a decent guy, a good friend and a big weirdo. He is also a friend most people don't deserve.
To be honest, when I wrote that comment I hadn't gotten to that part in the book yet. :D
I hope this wins Best Picture just for the fact that they might bring Tommy up on stage for it
There's your happy ending right there! Kinda like the ending of Tropic Thunder, where they get critical acclaim not for the movie they tried to make, but for the movie made afterwards about how much of a mess the production was
I would die of shock. Comedies never get award attention.
Hope so! Hope it gets nominated at least and Johnny gets to go to the Oscars!
GiantSandles Franco for best actor its an actual possibility, not a joke
I kinda doubt that with Gary Oldman as Churchill and Daniel Day-Lewis' last performance coming out this year but maybe
I've always appreciated that Tommy seems like a genuinely nice guy.
Well he did not hit her! it's bull shit! He did noootttt! Oh, hi Mark!
That's because Lisa loves you too, as a person, as a human bean.
Criticas QLS A quienes me encuentro aca cabros qlos xD
You're tearing apart Lisa!!!!
After reading the disaster artist he strikes me as a guy who can be difficult to hang around and could get irritating very quickly, but he tries hard to be a good friend and occasionally succeeds in doing so.
Tommy Wiseau makes James Franco look like a completely sane person.
😂😂😂
So you're saying James is insane? How?
Random fact: Tommy Wiseau is actually James Franco in the future. This actually sounds like the plot of a James Franco movie
lukeshdoesntknow to hell with James Franco, this needs to be done by Tommy, this time impersonating Franco.
hahaha what a story mark
It's like Fringe!!!
*hmmm nerrrd. You're a fucking nerrrrd**
Hahaha....What a story James.
Jaqen H'gar Anyways how's your sex life.

Tommy Looks Like he just got out of the hospital on Guerrero Street
Jaqen H'gar I'm so happy to have you as a friend and I love Dave so much
Norsto5194 as human bean
Jaqen H'gar hi doggy
Has Tommy ever released a "Behind the Scenes" of The Room, with all this footage being mentioned?
there's a book written by greg sestero (the guy who dave franco played)
JensForum There is behind the scenes footage. Some of it is on the blu-ray. Some of it will never be shown to the public because it is really bad.
It's coming to cinemas, December 1st.
There is behind the scenes footage on the DVD, but it's poorly done. No interviews, just random stuff
Actor who played Mark wrote everything he remembered on how this movie was made and it served as a script for this documentary movie.
You can tell James is still kinda stuck in the role by how he talks to Tommy lmao
Hey you
I strive to be like Tommy Wiseau. Despite his horrible failure, he still only focuses on the fun he had making it.
Anirudh R. I mean, technically it wasn't a failure at all, quite the opposite actually.
They spent 6 million making the room and only made a profit of 1.800$ in one week. But after a few years the movie became such a meme, because of how bad it was that it actually made a decent profit
But is it a failure at this point? He got a movie made about his journey. Thats pretty successful.
OSD Nope it aint. No he's a Hollywood star because of his failures & still didn't give a fuck as long as he like what he was doing
Allegedly he recouped the costs.
I'm still thinking jackets though.
It's kind of sad how Tommy has had to accept having to be "the clown" over the years as much as you know he secretly wants to be taken seriously. At least he's making bank.

He has essentially made it in Hollywood. He is reaping the same rewards as a 'serious' artist. Fake town, real money.
David Lynch LaURa pALmER bruUUuh
I hope they include the pat where Tommy suggests there being a scene where he has a flying car and he flies it off the rooftop.
When asked why? He replies, "I don't know maybe Johnny is a secret vampire?"
Brilliant.
Tommy is such a fucking boss
HOLY SHIT ITS YOU love your content man nice to see you here
Oh hi Sonny jim
To my surprise Greg looks more like a real Hollywood actor than Dave
greg really hollywood actor
Whenever I see that guy (Tommy Wiseau) I expect him to drop his wig, his glasses and yell
"Ta-dah! Fooled you all, I'm actually an actor from Oregon! I've been playing this wannabe alien on and off since the late 80's and nobody has called me on it! Such a thrill, people!"
You never know can be pulling a Gilbert Gottfried

Ha ha ha what a story Mark
Hes an AMERICAN FILM MAKER! DONT UNDERESTIMATE HIM!!
You are tearing me apart James !
Oh, hi Tommy. I didn't know it was you.
Franco is still in character talking like Tommy in bad sentences hahaha
the camera don't move
I can't tell if that was him fucking with Tommy or not
Ryan Milk my thoughts exactly!
Mr Sillage alot of times when actors do method acting the character they play gets stuck with them even after the movie
He is speaking to Tommy in Tommy's language
Mark should have played himself,He's barely aged a day
Abraham Rivera he can't act
To be honest Dave looks like the weakest link of that otherwise probably awesome movie. Not saying he's a bad actor, but he doesn't look much like Sestero.
The Flaming Pike yeah, they shouldve gotten Owen Wilson. Lol.
Shaggy Rogers they are playing themselves essentially,So that wouldn't mattter
The Flaming Pike Dave is 5'7 & Greg 6'2,I can't get over the height difference
There is nothing more legendary that Tommy Wiseau wearing a tie of himself yelling you're tearing me apart Lisa 😂
Arthy Dennie I didn't even notice till I read your comment hahah
You can buy it from his online shop! Yes. Tommy Wiseau runs his own online shop and you'll get a free autographed picture of him. Probably ships from his apartment. I'm not kidding.
Great catch! Never would've noticed. 'Legendary' is pretty a pretty accurate term ;)
After watching a few interviews with James Franco about this film I'm convinced that he's going to do his Tommy accent forever. He can't control it anymore. It's like when Lelouch lost control of his Geass after using it too much.
kabztunes nice comparision
LOL thats a stretch but I love the comparison 😂
damn i live for these code geass references
Al Pacino got stuck slightly in the Scarface accent for years. And really al Pacino never returned to his pre scarface accent again.

I thought it was DB Cooper
Lizzy Chrome my guess for years is that he is royalty from one of those small countries in eastern europe...the guy put $6M in The Room

I think that even if it was an act, it's now part of him. It IS him; nobody in their right mind is going to record themselves nonstop the way he did.
Dave and Greg look more like brothers than James ever did.
Chris Benson I didn't see it until now but your right
yes, but look at the face expressions
Not really James and Dave look almost identical
James and Dave look so much alike mainly when Dave smiles you can see it
I don't know why Wiseau always looks wet.
His hair looks greasy all the time.
I think he puts grease in his hair.
His face also wet not just hair.
That's because he's actually melting.
He's a vampire who melts under warm lighting....
Even if it is an act I feel like deep down Tommy hates Being ridiculed.
Anthony Chesko i imagine hes annoyed by it be but it also is fine with the cult following this movie got since its still people who are big fans of the movie
Anthony Chesko but who does like tht?
Anthony Chesko agreed. I think hes just really kind tho. In an interview he said doesnt care what people say as long as they find something they like wether it be funny or w/e.
It just teaches one of lifes best lessons in how to handle embarrassment or insults, just roll with the joke. You can either be hurt by something or roll with it/laugh with it and move on.
its probably a difficult position. he wants to be a great actor and filmmaker which he isn't but he also wants to have a lot f fame and fans which he does.
Tommy's laugh is what makes life worth living.
He just enjoys life and doesn't care about anyone trying to put him down
or throws furniture at them
Not a word from Greg?....The author of the book on which the film is based? There is more to this interview, right?
Mark hasn’t aged one bit
Josue Guillen He kinda looks like pre-op Bruce Jenner....
He has baby-face haha...
hahahahahaha
Greg Sestreo is just too fucking handsome! No homo. Looking at him forces me to confront my own inferiority and I hate him for it.
Tommy gave him vampire elixir. “Noww he live forevurr!”
You did a good job, anyways how is your sex life?
I cannot tell you. Its confidental hahahaha
Sanic HA HA HA WHAT A STORY MARK
-h a i d o g g y-
Oh hi Mark
Me underwears.
Greg Sestero's reaction at 3:34 after Wiseau says that Sonny made him believe James would play him well is everything. He might as well be on the floor laughing with that reaction like I currently am
this is so fucking weird
LenardoDivina
It could be even weirder with Linkin Park reaction to it
19HajimeSaitou91 especially since Chester Bennington is dead. He wouldn’t react very much.
LenardoDivina there's no way anything related to the room isn't going to be weird
LenardoDivina you understand life? Do you?
I think so yes why?
James is still kind of in character lol
He's just playing with Tommy I think. They seem to have fun a lot together
I think he enjoys playing Tommy cause Tommy doesn't give a fuck.
James has bigger legs and probably much bigger balls than Dave.
Tommy was getting irritatedby James doing the tommy voice lmao
It did seem like he was disrespecting him.
since he always does tommy's voice for method acting, its hard to get out of it when he finished the movie
Greg is radiant. My god why didn't they cast him in the film as Greg?
Lance Lovecraft he sucks at acting lol
Agreed, his actor doesn't look nor sound like him.
+Ori Samsonov Right! his actor reminds me of a munchkin version of him. Such a miscast! so sad
because dave franco is james franco's little brother and probably wanted to give him the spot
Actually his acting has got much better (not Hollywood good, but at least "I don't watch to chew my eyes off" good).
So am I the only one who notices that James Franco takes almost half of the couch and Tommy Wiseau has to shrink into a tiny space at the right edge?
Ignacio SA There is some underlying tension between Tommy and everyone else... It seems like James is trying to control the situation. Not in a bad way, more like, "Look, let me handle this film for you and I'll make you the star you want to be. Tommy. Stop being a prick!"
😂
Somewhat similar body postition and language from Dave and James, Greg has a conflicting posture with a nervous thoughtful demeanor. Tommy is shockingly famous and hes a surprise millionaire. The entire premise is incredibly intelligent
Why the fuck put 4 people snugly into a 3 person couch
Is it just me or is Greg Sestero the only one who realizes they are being made fun of.
Also, James Franco close your god damn legs and give that poor old man some god damn room!
James Franco tem traços narcisista
If James sat like a human Tommy could actually sit comfortably.
VALENTINEproductions Great comment!
Look at how much leg space James Franco takes up!
Feminazis: MANSPREADING!
and tommy crammed the fuck in the corner
Ezy Teri Reddy shut the fuck up
Ezy Teri Reddy
There's a distinction between not crushing your balls and fully spreading your legs. James is doing the latter and it seems a bit dickish
ch3xmix alpha move
James looks and listens to tommy like a young child
Tommy Wiseau looks like a melting Michael Jackson
JigglyChocolateman I hadn’t laughed so hard in weeks. Thank you.
the dumbass profile pic amplified the effect
I can't wait for the movie about the making of this movie with Tommy Wiseau doing press.
James Franco is still in character with his broken English and the movie is already wrapped up, or has James become Tommy?
He is his new apprentice, one day he will make his own movie called The House
Wiseau > Kubrick
AcousticJuice I want a T-shirt with that text👍
I would buy that T-shirt
That's not really a contest.
AcousticJuice obviously...
@goofykitkatboy You are right. But even if he isn't as good as Tommy Wiseau I still think Kubrick is really good.
Love James Franco & Dave Franco - they both did really great and fantastic jobs playing Tommy & Greg in "The Disaster Artist" ... 🎥
I don't see how James was disrespectful to Tommy in this interview...
He made it legitly, but now he pretends it was a dark comedy.
Rooster for that reason, it makes the room funnier which made it rewatchable..
Rapid Readers The Movie is a master piece of camp
islanti just watch the movie and read the book, Tommy put him heart and soul into this movie. It never was intended as a comedy.
the room is actually fuckin brilliant...
im not jokin... if u watch it multiple times u will knw
oooookay, Tommy...
Akarapong Boonrat Tommy? Is that you?
Akarapong Boonrat it's one of the best comedies.
Akarapong Boonrat just everything about it is so bad, that it's actually perfect again. I know what you mean, really
Akarapong Boonrat i did NOT just see and read this comment i did NOT! ....oh hi tommy
4:25 I love this scene lol. Greg finally decides to say something and only 1 Franco acknowledges him for a split second. Then Dave's attention immediately goes back to Tommy and Greg looks up at the ceiling quickly. Then he laughs to himself and glances awkwardly at the camera.
CoconutSenpai Greg's existence summed up in a single paragraph.
Poor Greg.
Greg is so quiet lol
He's thinking about how strange people are these days
1:14 James Franco is turning into Tommy Wiseau lmaooo
Rylo Q OMG
Dat guy really cool 😂
LEVEL UP! He got dubbed without knowing!!
Tommy speaks so funny😅 that end omg.. "my favourite part is the swimming pool scene"
"Really? Its so random"
"Yeah I like it. I like the camera movement in there"
"Camera movement? The camera doesn't move.." 😂
Tommy's dream came true. He doesn't care. He's just happy a movie was made about him (aah huhuhuhuh : Tommy's laugh)
The guys a hero. Proves that if you want something bad enough. You have to believe in yourself and follow your dream no matter what.
Honestly..you can tell the brothers especially/understandably James...genuinely love Tommy.
the way they shoot this interview gives me anxiety....move it a little bit up pls....
Markcinemafan all crotch must be in frame!
Also it's not lit up evenly.
You think Tommy ever gets sick of everyone's shit as they constantly impersonate him? Like I know they're not being dicks but like imagine philip seymour hoffman speaking like droopy the dog while doing promotion for capote.
except capote was dead for the release of his biopic.
and hoffman's dead too now.
where am i
Weeneen Ala'hadouanan that was quite the wild comment
This is the best comment ever
Weeneen Ala'hadouanan Do you think Arnold gets sick of people impersonating him? It's part of being an actor, if he couldn't handle it then he wouldn't be making movies in the first place. What makes Tommy so awesome is the fact that he doesn't give a fuck, he just does him.
Braden Lail haha I know man, I'm just fucking around.
Every time someone impersonates him it just shows how successful his movie was and how much of an impact it made on their lives. So no.
James Franco is manspreading Tommy Wiseau. Have some respect Franco! You're sitting next to a legend.
"You be doing good job!"
~Tommy Weiseau, to James Franco
I could listen to James Franco and Tommy talk for days on end and never get bored
James is manspreading the shit out of tommy right now
The best actors have to identify with their characters in order to play them. James Franco just seems like he's being a jerk to Tommy, who I think is being a great sport about this whole thing. Also, how far does Franco need to man spread his legs?
James is mocking him to his face like it's normal. Kinda weird.
Pepsolman James and Tommy have an artist’s kinship. They are like brothers talking about very similar experiences and making fun of each other based on their shared traits and experiences.
Tommy is awesone. James..eh
not so much. no personally without Tommy
Idk, I wouldn't say its mocking him. At least for myself, its like when I tell a story about my friend with them in the same room. It's showing affection towards them. Just watch the way James looks at Tommy.
nah,man he is literally mocking him and Tommy is tolerating it. you can hear it in his voice. i kind of feel sorry for tommy.
I'm sorry are you guys tommy? Do you know what he is thinking? You guys read minds? Just shut up.
"That's so random!" That goes without saying whenever Tommy Wiseau is present and saying things.
I love how James talks to Tommy in Tommy's accent. 😂
Why isn't Greg talking?
Because of how awkward James Franco is making the interview in the way that he's belittling poor Tommy.
I wonder if Tommy noticed that James was makin fun of him in this? it feels like it.
He was
He does but I feel like they are friends to that extent that they know it's memes
Isn't that what friends do? Makes each other laugh & roast each other's for the fuck of it
All guys are ball busters especially when they are good friends which it appears they are now
I think James has immersed himself into the role all day every day to the point he doesn't even recognize when he is doing the Tommy voice. It's not even a joke to James at this point cause he is just hanging with his pal. This voice he does happens too often during these Disaster Artist interviews to just be making fun of someone he had studied. He's balls deep in this.
James Franco is completely "manspreading" Tommy during the entire interview. Unacceptable...
Kiwis1nvasion Glad you noticed that and had to comment along with the other 500 people who said the same thing... truly insightful.
Glad you took your valuble time and looked through all the 1245 comments to tell me this. Truly insightful. Thank you.
whats manspreading ?
I liked the camera movement in the pool scene....there was no camera movement in that scene loool😂😂
This interview is really fun and ....... Oh hi Mark!
The guy gives James Franco the rights for this movie, ultimately earning him a huge wad of cash, and all James Franco can do is show him thinly veiled contempt, while pretending to be his buddy.
Agreed and that is about as well put as I've seen (I'm reading through every comment to see if people picked up what I picked up).
And the huge wad of cash.
Make no mistake though, Tommy is walking away with an immense amount of cash from this- he'll keep taking it and playing the joke part if it pays....
James B It actually benefits them both though, win win.
James is a great actor.
Stop manspreading James, Tommy looks squished
Never squish pure boi Tommy
Franco talks to tommy like he's a "special" kid that he looks after lmao
I've gained so much respect for Franco after watching the Deuce where he plays two characters, so psyched for this movie; I think he can really pull it off!
4:34 “Camera moving?”....”Camera don’t move” 😂😂😂 absolutely killed me
It's crazy how Dave Franco looks more like Greg Sestero than he does with his own brother!😄
Sestero looks the same but Tommy looks like he's aged 40 years since the film.
Greg was like "they're not my league"
That's pretty cool they get to talk to each other afterwards.
James and Tommy have such a good relationship. I really hope they keep a friendship
