My first Ebay item I ever listed. I was at a yard sale, with three dollars in my pocket. I was leaving empty handed when the sale holder said, buy this for 5 dollars as he held out a vintage leather military lineman's belt in perfect condition. I told him all I had was 3 dollars and he took it. I listed it for 125 and it sold the next day.
So without the three dollars how did it ship
@@jamesstanleyjr1975 Back then the shipping label could be bought through paypal as soon as the buyer's payment was completed to paypal. When I started all you needed was a scale, a printer and a paypal. account.

I’ve made $4,125 in last 90 days part time. But it’s not easy. You put this very very well in your video! It won’t be easy. It is a job. And when you’re doing it there’s always hiccups and issues. And challenges. But it can definitely be worth it.
That is AWESOME!!!! Mine is a lot smaller currently (close to $500 in 90 days), but I’m hoping to get up there!
Do you mean "sold" [netted] that much, or "profited" [grossed] that much?
@@AndyG1995 I am NOT saying anybody here is inflating their numbers, but a great lesson to learn is never compare yourself to other seller's. Ever. Most of them inflate their sales numbers. Ego, you know. Or they just say: "I sold 5K last month!" but they don't tell you they paid $4,500 for the sales merch, or taxes or shipping, or supplies.
@@Catch-qn3xhnobody invests 4,500 to make 5,000. More like 2,500-3k or less. Still people don’t realize that when other people say they make x amount on eBay that it’s not all profit
One of things I like the most about reselling is the community, leaders like yourself who are humble and share willingly. I love running into other resellers while thrifting and the excitement we share about our finds. Thank you for the advice and encouragement.

You're the content creators that actually got me listing on eBay; I was losing LOTS of weight and keeping in clothes that fit me at thrift stores, and realized that if I just... shopped the whole store, all the sizes, every time I went, I could probably find wild stuff pretty consistently. Perfect timing. I kept my FTJ, and have worked from home since the pandemic, which lets me take pics, etc. in down time. Last year was my first full year re-selling, and I hit the $25k sales / 3 months mark off mainly thrifting [with the post-quarantine arbitrage explosion making up like 20% of that]. You're offering incredibly valuable information for anyone willing to take it as earnest advice, and I really appreciate you and your team[/wife lol]!
Love the real talk. The volume of sales you need to maintain in order to pull down a decent salary reselling is significant... it's tricky and not that sexy so many content creators avoid talking about it. Thanks for this!
I'm so glad that a friend set me this page today. I have been in and out of reselling for a few years. I'm finally getting back in it full time. I am horrible buying from yardsales but have experience buying storage units and other auctions.
Great video with spot on advice! The bulk wholesale tip is the keystone to a six figure income on eBay. That's what worked for me and everyone else I know that hits that annual number. Having fun with it is also a big one. It's hard to build a sustainable ecommerce business if you don't enjoy what you're doing.
You do such a great job in keeping things realistic and not candy coating the work needed.
I agree with a lot of the points. Specifically storage units. The area is definitely plays a huge part in storage units as well. I’ve had some great ones and had some that broke even (including what I value my hours of work). Definitely shouldn’t be counted out though as my eBay store was literally stocked for months on one storage unit. Love the channel and following you guys and your journey.
Great perspective! I have been working on a Full time Ebay store and a full time regular job. It is exhausting but very rewarding!
I really appreciate the video and it was something that I needed to hear. Been feeling so worn down as of late. Working a regular 40 hour week job in the financial industry and then spending another 40 hours trying to list and source items is brutal. Just trying to keep grinding.

My store was down 70% in sales. With some of the Roots tips I used to get my sales are back up 100%. Still having some trouble with consistent sales. My have some amazing sales some days, and than all the sudden my store just goes dead! Great video. Cheers!

I can affirm everything you covered here today. We have successfully surpassed those "magic numbers" making a full time income out of ebay.
Lots of work maintaining the daily grind. I do 80% of the work while my wife does the other 20%.
We try to sell items for at least 5 times our purchase price. Overall profit is around 40%-45% of sales. We have settled into specializing in a couple of categories.
The only thing I would add is to make offers to buyers more often. Our phones are with us 24/7 so it is easy to make these offers as they come in. "Strike while the iron is 🔥"

He’s right! I’ve started and stopped selling many times. It’s not easy! But it is fun. Love this business model. It allows me to make money at home and work around my boys schedules.I set a goal to list at least 24 items a day and the algorithm seems to like it!

I just watched this video, I sell to augment my income only. I don't gross $100,000 per year, but it sure is a great supplement. You are so wonderful to share all your information so openly. I think the one thing that discourages most new resellers is the boasting and bragging of how many packages that go out on any given morning without any details about the cost and profit... Like you teach, you really have to know your numbers and understand the costs associated. Thanks for this video!

Very good practical sense talk about how to resell and be successful. I've been an entrepreneur for 10 years as a professional writer and also own a media and technology company. An eBay business is like any other business and you always have to balance your overhead costs with your profit and make sure you come out in the positive. And like anything it takes time to make it successful.
Hi Ryan--I took your master class earlier this year and learned so much, but those last four fast tips in this video? Immediate payoff. I already list regularly and send offers sometimes, but two days ago I implemented all four tips (delist and sell similar X 5 items; adjust price X 5 items; send offers daily; list 5 new items daily) and today I had 5 sales, one after the next. I have not had a single sale on eBay for more than a week, but was doing fine on other platforms. Something about those exact 4 changes made eBay wake up and take notice! Thank you for sharing such valuable (and actionable) advice.

The ending it totally correct. I see tons of people come and go because they don't put in the time listing. For me hitting that was 90 hours per week listing. Its possible, but you have to like working & cant expect it if you do it part time.
