Even with his plot armor, I can’t help but love Patrick Colasaur. The scene of his marriage always puts a smile on my face. If you wanna know how Kira survived his battle with the Aegis: ua-cam.com/video/aoHE-cYmMsg/v-deo.html
Imagine being a regular grunt in SEED, and being told you have to fight a man that has died three times, and each time he comes back with a stronger gundam. I'd fucking go awol within a heartbeat.
As someone pointed out his plot armor seems mostly to be used to keep him from successfully killing himself. It's more like Plot Childproofing a house. To avoid An Heero Yui.
Patrick was the best part of 00 especially considering his commander literally denied him the chance to fight in Mobile suit so he would stay in the ship and make sure the ship would stay safe throughout the entire fight
I had this crazy theory as a kid that Herro was actually some kind of Terminator-like Android, because no normal human being could survive an explosion unscathed like that. Then I learned what Plot Armor was years later.
He also bent metal jail bars with his bare hands. I have heard rumors that he was originally supposed to be something other than a normal human early in development.
I think i read about it somewhere that state Heero gene already manipulated so he is have more capabilities about 1.5 times than normal human. Maybe thats what make him survive all that
I agree, I (unfortunately) put myself through Seed and Seed Destiny) and I was so dissapointed. Seed starts off great objectively, a rethinking of the UC....and then devolves into absolute nonsense with the MC. When the sequel came out, I was cautiously optimistic since it was a new lead, and I actually liked the first arc until halfway though the show, Kira shows back up and the rest just becomes nonsense. So when 00 came out and there were actually stakes at the end of season 1, it was a breath of fresh air. I really enjoyed that show specifically, especially with all the different characters and perspectives. I dont need a show to kill everyone, (IBO comes to mind, though that show was good too) but Seed almost became a parody of itself. And to be fair, even 00 did have some level of MC plot armor

compared to one Iok, a Patrick at least doesn't cause the death of the main casts. Patrick survive war, got hitched to his, admittedly, rather scary CO, and survived an alien invasion. I'm not surprised if the dude evolved into an Innovator in the series for shits and giggles.
Did you know there is a joke about Patrick Colasaur. The joke goes because of Patrick Colasur's God like luck when IBO came around the creators and Sunrise had no more luck they could give out. Thus why IBO had almost its whole cast die at the end.
Remember when Heero was fighting Zechs' Tallgeese in the Heavyarms? The Tallgeese was literally hitting the Heavyarms over and over again with its beam saber, but it acted like a blunt weapon.
remember when Trowa and the Veyete blew up, with no way to actually get out of the blast radius yet he just floated around in space for probably a few weeks before he was found and all he had was some amnesia
@@devildavin to be fair, Wing pretty much showed that their pilots were pretty much immune to Self Destruct Damage. let's be honest, in real life Heero should have never survived self destructing the Wing, and let's not even mention Zechs when the Epyon blew off in the finale
Remember Heero was shot by the arm and leg, but he's fine. He has 20 broken bones, but he's fine. He twists back a broken bone in his leg after the terrible fall. The next day he's fine. He was comatosed for one month. But he's fine. He face planted from Gundam Zero cockpit after having a taste of the Zero system, but he's fine. Libra debris fall on his back to protect Relena, but he's fine. But Heero's plot armor can be due to his genes were altered/enhanced to make him the "Perfect Soldier". In other words, Gundam Capt. America
The big thing about Patrick Colasaur compared to all the others, is that he was likely a parody of that trope and OO just went all the way with it. As for the others, it really is tough to top Wing and Seed for main character plot armor and even more with Kiruto Jesus-kun cause he could of died so much within Seed.
I think the writers for 00 saw the plot armour of the earlier series and other shows and made him as a parody of that. And it worked as everyone likes Patrick.
While I recognise the collective hate boner so many people have for Kira, I'd argue that if you're thinking that the arguments in the video hold up to scrutiny, then you haven't considered the evidence in terms of the levels of science and technology as of 70CE. Firstly, with the duel between the Strike and the Aegis, the durability of the pilot suit isn;t being taken into account here. The fact is that Andrew Waltfeld survived far worse (an internal explosion where there was no phase shift to absorb any of the same type of explosion, he wasn't restrained in his pilot seat and restraints at the time of the explosion and it took weeks for him to get medical attention) yet he survived and recovered enough to be a mobile suit pilot within a couple of years. Furthermore, we know from that, that medical science had progressed to the point where not only was genetic engineering possible, but cybernetic prostheses were a reality. That is to say that the core biological trait of all coordinators was an enhanced immune system and more durable body as a direct response to Type-S Influenza. Yet the fact is that Kira was limp and unconscious when Lowe found him, Lowe carried him to Reverend Malchio, who put him in a medical capsule for critical care, at which point he was rushed to Aprilius, the PLANTS capital where the Kline family gave him what would have been the finest medical care that money could buy. Even then he was unconscious for days and possibly weeks, judging by how long it would have taken the Archangel to limp its way to Alaska. Even when he came to, he was bedridden and unable to move for days. Furthermore, as the Re:HOME does appear in SEED, the Astray mangas can reasonably be classed as canon, rather than a retcon. As for number 2, there is a credible explanation. The fact is that most of the fleets that were affected by Genesis, were built around a presumption that nuclear radiation and the shielding that it would require, were no longer an issue. As such, the shielding around the cockpit and command centre, is highly unlikely to be shielded against gamma radiation. Conversely, the nuclear Gundams would have been built so that the cockpits were shielded against reactor leaks when they were sitting on top of a nuclear reactor. We know from the Rau's comments during the Battle of Panama, that the reason that Strike Daggers were so easily defeated by the Gungnirs, was because their EMP shielding was inferior to even that of the GINNs. It stands to reason that cockpit shielding against radiation would also be a design concern. In fact I'm particularly reminded of the scene in Pacific Rim, where it's noted that the 1st generation Jaegers were rushed into production so quickly that no one had considered the possibility of them being cancer-killer deathtraps. As such, I'd argue that the only 3 craft that could have potentially protected their pilots from getting fried in the Battle of Jachin Due, were the Freedom, the Justice and the Providence. That leads me to the third instance. The fact is that the cutoff switch killing off the reactor immediately does indeed make perfect sense, due to how the N-Jammer works. The N-Jammer disrupts all nuclear chain reactions instantaneously, while the N-Jammer Canceller acts as a protective shielding device to protect the chain reactions of a nuclear reactor. Once the N-Jammer Canceller is deactivated, that protection stops and the chain reaction should reasonably stop with it. In fact we have a real-world example of an instantaneously stopping chain reaction as I understand it, in the form of pebble bed reactors. Pebble Bed Reactors have no emergency cut-off fail-safe systems, because they don't need them. They rely on a principle known as Dopler broadening, which states that the hotter a nuclear reactor runs at, the more space needed between atoms to allow for a chain reaction to be able to continue. The Dopler broadening that the reactor pebbles are designed around has a nominal operating temperature of 800-1200 degrees Celsius, while the graphite shielding has a melting point of 2000 degrees. However the pebbles themselves have been designed so in the event of a coolant failure, the moment the temperature rises to 1600 degrees Celsius, the spacing between atoms is too small to allow chain reactions to continue, and so the nuclear reactions are stopped dead in their tracks until the reactor cools down a nominal operating temperature. There's no reason to imagine that the N-Jammer Canceller and its effects wouldn't operate in a very similar manner. Incidentally, if you're wondering what the heck I'm talking about with pebble bed reactors, google "let a thousand reactors bloom" to find a 2004 wired article, which does a great job of explaining this real world technology. As for surviving the explosion, the thing to note is that what would have exploded, was most likely the battery used as an energy buffer, which makes the explosion no worse than what Kira and Athrun both survived when the Aegis self-destructed. However even then there's another thing to note, which is how valuable the pilots of these units would have been considered. We know that the nuclear Gundams were intended for the aces of the ZAFT millitary, meaning that you're talking about the highest trained and most skilled pilots of ZAFT. Given that the pilots at that level would be just as rare and valuable as the nuclear Gundams themselves, and far harder to replace, there's a strong likelihood that the pilot's compartment on them was heavily reinforced to protect the pilot from the suit exploding as much as possible. As for number 4, as it's established, any Natural wouldn't have survived it, but Kira isn't a Natural, he's a Coordinator and as I already noted, it;s an established fact that Coordinators, as a direct response to Type-S Influenza, were genetically engineered to have superior immune systems and therefore by reasonable extension, had bodies which could take far more of a punishment than naturals, while also being far more easily able to heal. Arguably when you're talking about plot armour, the question which someone should always ask is “is this plausible in universe” and the answer with these is essentially yes. In fact I'd argue that Heero Yui surviving the Wing self-destruction is way-more of a Lazarus moment than Kira's brushes with death. As such, I'm simply not convinced that when it comes to Kira Yamato, there's enough lazy writing there to constitute plot armour.
@@sabercyclone041 Kira was not a coordinator. He was a perfect-coordinator. But yeah. It was part of the story that Kira was even more superhuman than other coordinators, so it was plausible to me that he would have low-level regeneration.
@@renalexander3653 Your argument comes across as somewhat hyperbolic. A "perfect co-ordinator" simply refers to a coordinator who has successfully gestated in an artificial womb, which eliminates the variables caused by the mother's own womb. Yes Coordinators had more durable bodies better immune systems and they bodies were better at healing than most naturals, however given that it's fail obvious when you look into the CE timeline that Coordinators were created directly in response to the Type-S Influenza pandemic, that's pretty understandable. Also he hardly had low level regeneration, he was just lucky and had the benefit of the best medical care that money could buy. The CE era had status capsules and cybernetic limbs as standard. Lowe found Kira within minutes of the explosion, where he was incapacitated and immobile, he was immediately placed in a stasis capsule and was flown to the PLANTS and he received the best medical treatment that money could buy. Even then he was unconscious for 10 days and bedridden for an extra 4. The reason the injuries don't look like they took that much if a toll is because the show time jumps in very subtle ways.
I'm glad someone called out the Shiro ball plot armor. It was pretty infuriating to have everyone tell me the series is oh so realistic just to see that scene so early.
@@AssaultRider555 I'm pretty sure the Ball K variant is one of the more combat-ready balls. So ya i would expect that it has more armor on it. Which even then technically the ball is actually at the advantage. It has a smaller profile, it had better sensors, better thrust, acceleration, and was cheap and easy to produce. The next advantage lies in its curved armor. All those 120mm shells from the Zaku fuckin bounced off the round armor and for the most part he probably threw off the enemies aim by throwing that space debris. If anything Shiro was just ridiculously lucky that none of the shots bounced into his equipment (which if you watch kinda did and busted up the ball a bit, none of the important bits tho). The ball vs Zaku is def not a stretch and could totally not be plot armor and I would say most of his saving grace was just the fact the ball was round. The best plot armor moment for Shiro would have to be the EZ-8 being cut in half by the big ass laser cannon or him fighting Custom Gouf.
@@Yakasuki Mainly that cut in half one. He could reasonably survive the Gouf and indeed, Norris is a man of honor, a pity he worked with the Space Nazis that Zeon is.
I'm surprised to hear that people call that show realistic. It was enjoyable and has the coolest gundam fight ever near the end, but there's absolutely nothing realistic about 90% of what happens on it, not that I remember at least. If I had to call a Gundam show/OVA realistic it would definitely be war in the pocket. That ova was so fucking good.
Regarding Kira’s atmospheric re-entry, he still got pretty feverish from the ordeal and was bed-ridden. Meanwhile, both Yzak and Dearka also fell to Earth and did not seem to suffer any serious injury. I’m inclined to believe that Coordinators in general are more heat-resistant than Naturals.
I remember Kira also mentioning that the the Strike was theoretically capable of unassisted atmospheric re-enter, according to its manual. Though he didn't get to fully test it because he would otherwise been far too separated from the Archangel, leading the Archangel to adjust it's course to end up with the Strike.
@@Hanetsune You're right. Badgiruel agrees with Kira on the Strike's manual and specifications, but also mentions that it was an untested feature and they weren't sure how hot the cockpit would get (meaning the pilot could potentially get cooked inside even if the Strike itself survived reentry). The Archangel's doctor also mentioned in the episode after that the cockpit got hotter than a natural could handle, so it was a combination of the Strike's capabilities and Kira's resistance to heat as a coordinator. A regular mobile suit of the First Bloody Valentine War, like a GINN, would have blown up on reentry (we do see Athrun survive atmospheric interface in a ZAKU in GSD, so presumably by the time the Second Bloody Valentine War erupts, regular mobile suits are tougher), and a natural pilot in the Strike may have still died to the heat - these are the two factors why Kira could survive that situation.
Thank you for pointing out Heero's plot armor. I'll admit Kira's plot armor is extreme, but its annoying that Heero's plot armor is constantly ignored.
Not ignored, just taken as a given. The universe just will not allow Heero to kill himself until Relena gets to Peacecraft his Yuy. (It's in her contract.)
Never had issue with kira surviving, they need him to drive up gunpla sales. People forget Gundam animes are no longer a Mecha anime but expensive commercial of a toy line.
I absolutely question the skill of whoever wrote 08th team. Surviving the zaku point-blank shot was stupid, and could have easily been remedied by having the gun jam or be out of ammo or something. There, a million times more believable and they could've saved money on animation without the bloodborne dodge.
Totally, and same with his fight in Ep1. Treize did this same thing as that fighting the Leo Mobile Dolls to prove a point to the Romefeller Foundation. He ate almost the entire drum mags from three Leos without a scratch. And while the scene of him using his Leo to waste them was cool because it was one of the few times we see a Leo do something other than explode...he should have been dead already. But the Zaku MG in his face not harming him was retarded. I mean, the concussion of Dell's impact from his Zaku falling over was enough to kill him but Shiro ate that blast wave like it was a stiff breeze. Also, the force of the rocket he launched into Topp's crotch should have harmed him also.
I think 08th MS team definitely had a more gritty, realistic art style but I agree that the mobile suit mechanics that get shown on 0080 are also some favorites of mine as well
@@ebindelgado9660 yeah, the only problem the OVA had was that the GMs were given the grunt syndrome, even when they were established to have good stats to reliably compete against the Doms and Gelgoogs. Especially with the GM Sniper 2 that had a performance that matched the original Gundam
As a note on #4 surviving the zaku shot, a 120mm cannon has a measured decibel rating of approximately 190 when fired... 140 causes instant death... so he survived two point blank shockwaves that should have turned his squishy bits into jelly
A rocket launcher has 180 db ... a tank shot has 190 db or so, and many soldiers have experienced 190 db in almost close range. The shockwave is another story.

Really, when you think about it, Patrick has plot armor specifically because he is the universe's punching bag. Even his wife said that his "Immortal Colasaur" nickname wasn't something he should be proud of even though he, and by extension us, are very proud of it anyway. As for Top 3... bad writing and behind-the-scenes drama. Plain and simple. A show's flaws can only go so far before it becomes obvious that something went wrong and the show is suffering for it. I can't hate Kira Yamato because it's obvious that he was at the mercy of some terrible writers and was written in ways he was never supposed to. Basically a Troll Fic, but unironic.
Let's not forget that Shiro and Aina should've at least had severe burns from the beam sniper rifle,if not just vaporized. Also when they both took out the Apsalus.
Those Zaku MGs apparently fire different loads than standard MBTs, along with the Federation's own YHI YF MG-100mm. Notice how eve in the 08th MS Team opening, they're firing surprisingly close to soldiers outside of the cockpit. In fact...everything aside from Mu's BS, I feel like Kakarot's been lacking a lot of research here. It even states that the RB-79 K-type ball was made to fight specifically alongside Federation MS due to the lack of fielded MS at the time. Could it have taken 'THAT' many 120mm rounds? Eh, probably not, but it is indeed stated that the Balls were up-armored extensively to even stand a chance.
I liked how everytime you mentioned plot in the Seed stuff, Murrue pops up lol. I knew that Kira would be the number one use of plot armor, including his infamous survive from a nuke. And then Mu got retconned into Destiny despite how great his death was in seed. Anyway, great job!
I'm almost certain that's the ONLY reason why she managed to survive as long as she did, because as far as doing her job goes she was definitely no Bright. I'm also convinced the writers of Seed were absurdly horny.

In Mwu's case, my leading theory is that he died in SEED. Neo Roanoke's a clone of him(because you know that both sides, at this time, have ceased giving a shit about ethics, and it ain't the first time a Da Flaga clone has been produced...right, Mr. le Creuset?) who ended up inheriting some of the original Mwu's memories, and, when push came to shove, decided he liked the idea of being Mwu a lot better then being Neo.

To me the thing with Heero is that show goes out of it's way to show you that he's not...normal. There was that scene where he busts Duo out of cell by literally bending the bars open so Duo could escape. I honestly feel that somewhere there's a limited issue Wing comic that gives us some crazy backstory for him. Also, in EW he doesn't casually get out of the cockpit, he literally tumbles out of it in an almost half dead fashion. Also, for all the hate I share with everyone here for Kiira, he WAS fighting with his hands tied against Shinn. Not only was he defending the Archangel, he was also fighting without the intent to kill, while Shinn was hellbent on killing him.
Well, to be fair, before Duo rescued Heero, the people that were analyzing him said that there was something weird about him, and after that Heero just opened SOME FREAKING STEEL CELL BARS with his bare hands
@@chassegallerie2910 I never said otherwise. I will say, however, that it was demonstrated to be physically enhanced on Heero's part. Yeh, at least heero is implied to be an enhaced human somehow with all that bullshit from the manga and frozen teardrop on how heero's father is a clone of the original heero yui and heero itself had a clone that was further augmented or something like that, shit was so convoluted i quickly lost the thread but he being an augmented human won't be worse than quatre being a newtype
Instead of a character, I think some mobile suits/ mobile armors actually lose plot armor sometimes, the best example I can think of is one Destroy Gundam taking out entire cities and ZAFT units, and then five of them get taken out relatively easy by just 2 mobile suits, (although the Destiny and Legend Gundam are still very powerful machines)
My only logical explanation was that the 5 units were "massproduced" (or rather limited-production) units with lower specs than the original prototype piloted by Stellar. But well, I guess that was too complicated.
@@kakarot197 Ugh, I hate when that happens...it'd only make sense if it was a prototype midboss, not for a MAJOR obstacle in the series! All they did was make it like the SRW game and made it less threatening.
@@Aptarus that could be possible, I would think it would take a lot of energy to make those things and with the war turning against the earth alliance they may have cut corners.
That's not plot armor, the 1st destroy seems powerful because zaft troop don't have mean to counter it, they still use older and non melee machine. If freedom and impulse could beat it then no way destiny and legend which is much more superior ms could lose, also shin know destroy weakness
A lot made of Heero's personal plot armour, but I'd argue that Wufei's ability to extend his plot armour to regular mobile suits he piloted is more impressive.
Ah the Inmortal Patrick Colasour. *the destruction of his suit and him surviving with very little injury is played off for laughs and is a running gag in the series. Whenever he's on screen it's pretty much guaranteed that he's going to be shot down
Also the Dublin drop, when we learned that having an entire colony fall deals little damage outside the city, but having a partially destroyed colony crash wipes out half of the planet's population.
Heero: "Your shelter is secured is it?" Little girl:" Of course it is! See for your self just how powerless you are." Heero: "Roger that." Little girl: *gasp* *Wing Zero is blown to bits and falls to the ground from super high up* (Heero has plot armor)
Don't forget that it's literally falling apart around him due to damage from fighting Altron _AND_ reentry while also being targeted by anti-air fire...into already compromised armor. Heero's plot armor was ridiculous.
I'm not a huge Gundam fan, but every time I watch any of it it seems to me like all the mech armor in the shows adjusts its effectiveness according to what the plot demands. Sometimes things blow up from any hit, sometimes things take absurd amounts of punishment. Also mechs simply cannot be hit by weapons mounted on spaceships or tanks for some reason.
While it's not perfect, the original Gundam is actually pretty good in this regard. For the most part, Zakus can do nothing to Amuro unless they go into melee combat, as Char did. But, as Zeon upgrades their arsenal, the Gundam becomes more vulnerable. It was a pretty cool way to show Amuro's progression from relying on his technology to relying on his skill and intuition
Gundam nuclear reactors are made out of the same stuff as Halo slipspace engines, in that they explode if you look at them funny. And then F91 weaponizes that concept.
Only you wouldn't have gotten a nuclear explosion. The instant the N-Jammer Canceller got shut down, the reactor in the Freedom would have become just as much of a glorified paperweight as every other nuclear reactor on the Earth from the time that N-Jammers were injected into the planet.
The explosion wasn't from the reactor. Fission reactors aren't bombs. It was from the Minerva's positron cannon. Reference previous episodes where Minerva uses its positron cannon while fighting on Earth, each time resulting in spectacular explosions.
Sunrise: "Hey we need to release strike freedom but how do we destroy freedom?" "I dunno, just go nuclear blast both characters and back like nothing happened "
Considering Strike Freedom on the paper is just a slightly taller Freedom with golden limbs. I'm not sure why they couldn't just send Freedom to the factory and excuse the new suit as an upgraded unit. IBO did it with the Barbatos, and so it got a bucket load of variants for real-life model kits. Lacus sure must have some of those upgrades lying around her house. Even without the IBO example, Fukuda had no excuse to not thinking of this simple solution. He directed Cyber Formula, the show based on Formula One. He did have his characters getting upgrades just because the factory come up with new cars instead of forcing them to crash into a coma every single time.
I dunno about plot armor to Heero, but when I saw him split 2 steel bars with electricity with his bare hands twice (1 deactivating a self destruct device, 2nd when rescuing Duo) I was convinced that he is a Super Soldier, a genetically enhanced human, a mutant or anything
Honorable mention to Leina inexplicably not dying on Gundam ZZ. That one totally looked like a poor rewrite on Tomino's part after he regretted killing her and it sucked because its one of the few deaths he's properly handled well. It completely broke ZZ for me and the show never quite recovered after that.
Sword Of Symphogear Sorry It been awhile since I saw that show I only remember the main protagonists get two girls Either they break up with one or one dieing
To Wing's credit, they do try to hint that aside from undergoing rigorous training, Heero's body was augmented in space. Yes it doesnt explain much, but they tried, lol. "Perfect Soldier," indeed.
Even Patrick has some level of plot armor in video games. In SD Gundam G Generation Crossrays, Patrick has the skill "Immortal Colasour". The skill description says: "When HP reaches 0, unit (piloted by Patrick) revives with 1 HP once per stage."

It just proves that most of Seed Destiny was just bad fanficiton. Years later, Kira and Shinn's battle is still controversial. I never considered Shinn surviving the end of Seed part of his plot armor. Attributed the damage to be from his battle with Providence. Plus, he flew straight up before Genesis fired. So he could have made it out of the blast radius.
At least they fleshed out Heero's back story to include a number of medical experiments to give him enhanced combat abilities and survivability. You know the plot armor is intense when they rewrite your origin.
Coming from a Wing lover, you could give almost every significant pilot in the show a mention! (Spoilers?) Heero: This video's info plus the time he fell out of Wing Zero onto his face on a metal deck. Duo: Takes a beam Gatling barrage in a Leo and doesn't explode (Trowa could have intentionally missed critical areas) but then there's the time he tried to self destruct and it just... Didn't happen. Trowa: In the Vayeate when it exploded. Quartre: Shot down in a fighter jet and crashes (totally fine) Wufei: Self stabs Shenlong to use the explosion to escape. This could get a pass. Zechs: Epyon's Destruction Noin: Takes a full Leo Cannon blast and it does negligible damage (even though that weapon just took out a more armored Leo in the same scene) Lady Une: Flies Wing into the Libra's main cannon. And Treize: Was in a Leo getting shot up by two mobile doll Leos on full auto. No damage. But, well, he lost that armor later, so I guess it evens out. Although, considering his plan, I guess it's more like he just decided to turn it off.
@@santiagogarcia1606 I appreciate the factoid. I had a feeling it survived, since that is the easiest way to explain Zechs' survival. It's still plot armor (imo) as it means the Epyon survived the Libra's power source exploding at point blank, and the hole in its chest from the battle (which was near the cockpit) was also facing that blast.
Include the mobile suits as plot armor in Gundam Wing. They mentioned no more mobile suits at the end of Endless Waltz. Then Frozen Teardrop happened, and now mobile suits returns. And from what I heard, Epyon made its return on Frozen Teardrop, with a replacement arm.
I have one that most seem to overlook. Athrun and Meyrin when Shin shish kabobed the GOUF. Shin's blade hit into, if not near, the cockpit and machine exploded in a body of water afterwords. If the explosion didn't killed them, drowning would. I would also add water pressure, but I'll be kind and say it was shallow. I imagine Waltfeld must felt cheated considering he lost some body parts and lover from and exploded MS, while Athrun and Meyrin got out with simply recoverable injuries.

Ali al-Saachez definitely deserves an honourable mention in S1 of 00. Lets all remember that Ali ate the beam cannon blast from the GN arms type D, the Blast caught the lower half of the throne Zwei, and destabilized the GN drive. 12:45 That is not correct. The source of that explosion is not the Freedom. The source is the Minerva’s Tanhauser beam. This can even be seen clearly in the ending still shot. The Freedom can be seen in the water, with the Impulse floating above. Then, the actual explosion is seen way in the background as a rising mushroom cloud.

Yes, he had the Planet Defensor shield deployed, but remember a single shot from those cannons destroyed an entire colony a minute before.
To be fair to Shiro, that ball he used is an experimental one.
Right its like fighting a Panzer with a Tow Truck.

Bravo!
ikr, he seems to forget that kira is a cordinator
@@mysilentworld6731 shhh dont tell him
I remember Kira also mentioning that the the Strike was theoretically capable of unassisted atmospheric re-enter, according to its manual.

The Destroy got treated like one of those early game RPG bosses that later on shows up again as a minor annoyance.
My only logical explanation was that the 5 units were "massproduced" (or rather limited-production) units with lower specs than the original prototype piloted by Stellar. But well, I guess that was too complicated.

@Alt Eisen Yes thanks.

I was expecting you to talk about how Heero was able to take hits from the Virgo mobile doll cannons IN A LEO several times without immediately exploding. A dozen direct hits later... the arm malfunctions, THAT’S IT.
The canons might not have been fired at full power
The new kid from Metaverse is giving Kira a run for his money, but with a plot naginata.
I love when Shinn beats Freedom by simply doing is fucking homework on how Kira fights and the goes after him in full bad motherfucker mode.
The only thing I hated about Gundam Seed Destiny, is Kira Yammato. That childish boy and his archangel crew made the series less fun.
Watch wackymodder84's video
Yeah, mind telling how a cannon that can be pretty much blocked by Strike Gundam is capable of making an explosion that big?
And Patrick Colasour's plot armor even crossed over into Build Divers!
I mean there was also setsuna, I still don't understand how he survived. sure he got stab near his cockpit but the explosion should of at least done more damage and also maybe rip his pilot suit, which would also kill him cause space is a vacuum.
After rewatching Gundam Wing recently, I firmly believe that everyone's favorite schizophrenic waifu Lady Une deserves at least an honorable mention. I'm pretty sure we all know which scene I'm referring to...
Don't forget Athrun and Meyrin surviving their Gouf being impaled by the Destiny Gundam then exploding yet somehow they were only injured and rescued.
Thank you for pointing out that Hiro's plot armor is on some bullshit. People always look over it because it's popular to hate on Seed.
At least with Seed we get relatively well armored Gundam. What we just saw was on par with Leo surviving more than one second against a Serpent.
I think wing series gundam have much more durable armor, it can withstand bullet and even beam weapon, while Seed gundam is screwed without ps armor
Heero self destruct is more point blank in the explosion than kira with aegis, plus atleast there are some explanations why kira survived whether it be genetics or cancelling njammer canceller.. not denying plot armor but I believe heero should be number 1
Which is kinda weird tbh as Gundam Seed brought the new found love to Gundam franchise back then, as well as broaden its market with its female audiences/fans. Even more so with there is no denying it has some of the best gundam design line up in one series.
@@christianhernandez517 Heero is more akin to captain america. He is a super soldier, he receive tough training and gene manipulation. He also later got frozen and wake up in the future just like captain america
Missing is the one that infuriated me the most in Gundam Wing. That was when the Mercurius piloted by Heero took a direct hit from Wing Zero's combined Twin Beam Cannons without a scratch, which is complete bullshit. Yes, he had the Planet Defensor shield deployed, but remember a single shot from those cannons destroyed an entire colony a minute before.
Plus the discs were clearly obliterated the second the beam touches them, so the Mercurius depended on its (plot) armor to take the blunt of the blast. Then, making matters worse, Trowa survives blocking a shot with the Vayate without the protection of an energy field. If you want to appreciate this miracles, here´s a link:

Wing zero has like 3 or 4 power settings for the TBR so i always assumed it used the lowest or one of the lowest
@@edvonrattlehead2135 that and the shield of the mercurius took some of the hit
@@jakealter5504 yeh, altho people oftenly forget the TBR has settings other than overkill
@@edvonrattlehead2135 still, it’s low settings are still pretty much overkill against mobile suits not made of gundanium
@@jakealter5504 i think the lowest setting is supposed to be for sniping at like 200km away or some bullshit like that
The very first episode of any Gundam series that I saw was that Gundam Wing episode that Heero self detonated.
Been hooked ever since.
....They didn't call him Kira "Jesus" Yamato for nothin'.
Loki: I have an army
Kira: I have plot armor
Mu: I have an Akatsuki
