"Best female in Zeta is Kamille"
I am torn between agreeing to this statement and choosing Emma as the best female Gundam pilot.
Ahh, Zeta Gundam, a series where a rebel movement was able to take out a group of space-nazis all because one of them misgendered a civilian.
Roux was more capable than Emma. There's not even a debate. The number of times Emma came back wrecked or had to be saved by Kamille vs. the number of times Roux was the only functional pilot = Roux by a mile. _And_ she survived.
Kamille still takes second place though right?
@@OuroborosChoked Let me rephase that, "best female gundam pilot in zeta". Though I like and respect your opinion on Roux being a better female pilot.
Puru is the best Gundam pilot in ZZ Gundam, and my favorite character in the series.
You're right about Chris. She really is an underated pilot. She spent more time fighting the Gundam's _controls_ than she did fighting the enemy. Imagine fighting in a shootout on horseback with a horse that was bucking wildly and _still_ managing to keep yourself steady. That's what the Alex was to Chris.
Also, Lady Une is just built differently.
Sounds like something that would happen in JoJo's!
Lady Une's plot armor was better than the supercharged phase shift on the Genesis and I don't think I've ever seen ANYTHING in Gundam just completely no-sell something as well as that stuff did.
Really?? Was the Alex that unwieldy? Or was it cuz it was built specifically for Armuro?
@@bombomos Yes to both. The Alex was designed for newtype use, but, since the Federation wasn't doing remote weapons yet, they had to settle for making a regular mobile suit built for the faster reaction time of a newtype. This results in a machine that could handle a newtype pilot, but is borderline unusable for an oldtype. It's kind of like trying to play an FPS with your mouse sensitivity cranked up to maximum.
@@magnatcleo2043 This explanation was perfect! Thanks for saying it so succinctly.
Karen Joshua, Chris Mackenzie, Reccoa Londo, Elpeo Plu, Pie, Marida Cruz, Francesca O'Hara, Aida Surugan, Bianca Carlyle, Nena Trinity, Suletta Mercury ... Gundams sure do like their redheads.

I’m surprised ALICE from Sentinel isn’t mentioned. Sure, she’s an AI installed into the S/EX-S Gundam, but unlike Marion, ALICE could take full control of the Gundam.
He was focusing on anime only
@@AshuraH But that would also exclude Marion.
@@nikoladedic6623 true
the phantom has an wifu Ai too but she just a regular ai can't control the phantom
No, Gundam Seed Destiny was not sabotaged by behind the scenes high school-esque drama. The show was undercut by the series head writer being hospitalized and recovering from multiple serious illnesses while the show was being made, with her having only completed an overall outline for the series and possibly some early episode scripts. Seed Destiny had an entire team of writers who absolutely dropped the ball. Cagalli got shafted by the pinch hitters, not Morosawa.
"the most Wing thing: Lady Une steals a rebuilt Wing Gundam."
Yeah like that's par for the course. Wing had everyone swapping suits a lot as needed lmao. Still love it.
"Sometimes it takes a real man to be best girl"
In SEED there were 3 episodic female Astray pilots. And in the last episode of Witch from Mercury there were 2 more female Gundam pilots (also I think that witches from the prologue could be counted as female gundam pilots)
SEED MS is... kinda-sorta stupid. Astrays might have used the G.U.N.D.A.M. OS, but it really wasn't a Gundam, even with the fin. But, then again, it's hard to figure things out with that.
@@AshuraH oh, ok, I understand then why Astrays pilots were not included in the list. It was a bit confusing for me brcause all those red/gold/blue frame Astrays are Gundams (at least this word is mentioned on model kits boxes), but M1 Astray is not considered as Gundam, even if it looks like Gundam😀
M1 ASTRAYS LOOKED like gundams but were not
@@Matanumi at least one of them piloted real gundam before though (even though that happened in manga)
Juri aka Marlin piloted MBF-P02 Astray Red Frame
Yup, they'r correct.
Btw there's also Lily Thevalley from SEED Astray VS piloting Gatx207 Nebula Blitz Gundam
That Gigguk quote has become immortal hasn't it?
Along with "If she is not blood-related, she is allowed to be dated."
Honorable mention would be Flay Allister as it was originally planned for her to pilot the Rouge instead of Cagalli but I'm glad she didn't for multiple reasons. Another mention that is probably a bit more likeable would be Cherie Allison but she never appeared in the anime so we can't count her as well.
@@wolfman210 I'm not sure which character was a live bomb but if we're talking about Flay, she wasn't meant to die when Gundam SEED was drafting each character.
@@wolfman210 Well still, she did control the mobile suit right? It counts.

Im glad Chan Agi got some rep. She helped work on my second favorite Gundam: the Nu, and she was technically the love interest of my boy Amuro Ray, at least in this specific continuity. Her death also fueled my extreme hatred for Hathaway Noa. Imagine simping for a girl who clearly doesnt want you and then killing your own comrade just because she killed that said girl, in self defense. Kakarot said it best, "...you team killing simp."
Then he become terrorist who kill civilian
Yeah, I really _don't_ want to dislike Hathaway cause I can understand where he's coming from... but goddamn he doesn't make it easy. And killing who was effectively best girl in CCA really doesn't help me sympathize with him.
@@andrewowens4421 his philosophy is valid, but his motives aren't, right?

Basically.
@*a wild Blue Destiny Unit 1 appeared!* remind me, which video did Kakarot say that?
You left out Murrue Ramius from Seed as she pilots the strike before Kira takes over .
Don't forget technically Mayura, Juri, and Asagi. Astrays (and Murasames) are as Gundam as any grunt, mass production MS can get.
If you can call that piloting
That doesn't count. Sayla shouldn't even count either but ota a case of sai doing the same in SEED
@@Matanumi Sayla did use the gundam on one other occasion and did better
@@geocross237 only Juri is piloted the gundam though when she infiltrated Junk Guild as Marlin in Seed Astray and piloted MBF-P02
I honestly wish we got to see more Female Gundam Pilots action in Gundam SEED/Destiny
Yeah, they were basically just eye candy, especially in Destiny. That sucked.
Cagalli & Luna might suck in Destiny but Hilda was kicking ass in her Dom Trooper 😘. Too bad she didn't pilot a Gundam.
@@androyus at least Luna kicked ass in her zaku gunner
Flay was originally supposed to be the pilot of the Strike Rouge in Gundam SEED, but that got canned, and I wish that it didn't.
@@androyus They sucked as pilots, but that wasn't their skill. In RPG terms, Lacus gets a command buff with rolling-crits for last minute ass-pulls for having her ass saved, Cagalli gets an AOE combat buff(for everyone else, not her), and lunamaria gets...
uh..
Lunamaria is...
...fuck. She really IS useless.
I wouldn't say you missed anyone too significant, but... from my memory and just going off anime appearances --
In G Gundam the original Shuffle Alliance was led by a woman (Tris Sergeyrev according to the Gundam Wiki) who died pretty much immediately along with companions.
There's also Sochie Heim, Merrybell Gadget, and Teteth Halleh from Turn A who all got some time in the titular Mobile Suit. Sochie and Merrybell both lived to the end, while Teteth did not.
I never considered the Shuffle Alliance's Mobile Figters to be Gundams, as they are never named as such, even officially. But upon looking her up, Tris was the pilot of NeoRussia's Mosque Gundam in the 7th Gundam Fight. So a good catch all around by you!
@@snukastyle They are Gundams. And they are apparently ancient Gundams that somehow are far more powerful than anything in the FC universe. To the point that the Kowloon was made as a handicap to make the fights fair for everyone else.
I think most people want to forget sochie, she was so annoying.
13:18 Oi, aren't you missing yet another female Turn A pilot? I mean, that pilot is a headcase, sure, but she still did pilot the Turn A using a custom cockpit instead of the usual Core Fighter.
Oh yeah, she did it using a SUMO cockpit.
Sochie Hiem.
@@BioGoji-zm5ph hmmm quite a lot of female red hairs in gundams
@@fernandesh.m.5504 That's her. Merrybell Gadget. She used the SUMO cockpit to basically hack the Turn A and create a living hell using it and its huge arsenal, Moonlight Butterfly included. She hightailed it out of there when Loran reclaimed the machine with his Core Fighter, though.
I’d say that Luna was one of the best female gundam pilots even if most of her best performances weren’t in a Gundam (she did great in her zaku), it’s not her fault that she got shown up by most of the other gundam pilots in destiny
yeah, she did her best, especially since the other pilots were Jesus and super soldiers with s.e.e.d and spacial (not newtype) powers.
@@djwhatadrag makes me wonder if she has the potential for seed mode too
She was one of the better characters in destiny
@@jonathansalazar4630 yup
@@jakealter5504 In theory, yes, she SHOULD be able to... but it doesn't seem she went in to the same state of desperation the other SEED chars have. According to the wiki, it is a certain resolve or the need to protect others is what triggers SEED.
Honestly, I didn't like that explanation. I would have preferred if the writers went for a more... "primal"... trigger.... but eh...
Marida Cruz is my most favorite Female character, her story was so amazing and emotional, Also she gets a happy reunion with the other Plu clones in the Super Robot Wars V.
Her death made me tear up 😥
Technically there is still a Plu clone alive... if you watch the Gundam Evolve short involving the Double Zeta Gundam.

11:58 I am so glad the ONE anime I had access to for years was Gundam Wing. What a show
I reckon ALICE from Gundam Sentinel would count, no? Roots wasn't doing much of the actual flying most of the time...Not just a lady who pilots a Gundam, a lady who IS a Gundam! Setsuna would be floored by that one.
Kagali critics "Kagali never board a Gundam! Strike Rouge is not a Gundam!"

Meanwhile some people argue the 3 female pilot are not included despite they never piloting any gundam
You forgot Miorine, she piloted (stole) the Aerial in the first episode

Nice video review
When I counted the kill counts of every Gundam anime character (yes, EVERY) Stella came up with the highest kill count for a woman with a confirmed kill count of 71, ranking her 16th out of all characters so far. (3rd for just the C.E.)
That poem about Mudie was amazing! Thank you.
12:34
What a way for the, imo, best looking machine in Gundam, period, to meet it's end. An amazing heroic sacrifice, leaving just its torso, head, and left shoulder intact.
One final act of badassery for Wing Gundam.
Never liked the Wing Gundam. I've always thought the Sandrock and Heavyarms were the better designed machine. The Wing looks like a goofy ass toy.
I was waiting for the Kamille joke. Kakarot did not disappoint.
their underperformance in the TV show is partially saved by the VS series where they are solid supports for any team (Rouge and Luna Impulse being far easier to pick up than regular Strike and Impulse), Lacus' Justice is blatantly overpowered for some reason...
Apparently Luna's shit aim is so infamous that she never lived down missing Djbril in the SRW universe. To the point where its a game mechanic and a running gag that Lunamaria can't hit the broad side of a space barn,
@@aliastheabnormal I vaguely remember that the link attack animation between Shinn and Luna... Luna shoots like 10 shots against a target and only 1 lands... i think... or that might even be from Shinn's shot XD

My bias aside for 08th ms team can we all agree that Karen is such a great and underrated pilot
Since they turned up a lot this video i'd be intrested in a video on the "Possessed" Gundams, the ones that absorbed their pilots, i think it would be intresting to watch.
The big question is does Cima count? In the Stardust anime, the Gerbera Tetra it's built from the GP04 Gundam Gerbera and the manga further suggests that the "change" to the Gerbera Tetra was done to disguise the fact that it was a gundam development project unit given to Zeon remnants by Anaheim.
If we consider it a disguised gundam, I'd say Cima definitely counts.
Cima should've been on here....especially if Marion Welch and Mobile Armor pilots were given a spot. Her involvement in Operation Stardust is a bigger deal than a lot of whats in the video.
First season of witch from Mercury, is like double zz, light heart at first, then got dark
And if the poster for season 2 is anything to go by, it's not gonna get lighter anytime soon
You'll never look at pizza topping the same way again.
I glad you put Stella Loussier on Number 5. Thank you
Looking forward to the next year's video then
I think you forgot to account for Witch prologue, where one or two additional ladies qualify depending on how you count and this isn't a spoiler (I won't talk about late G Witch episodes). Oh and you can count Miorine, Sayla Mass style.
Lady Prospera previous identity and the pilots of Proto Lfrith.
Beautiful poem 😂😂😂
3:55 actually in the crossover games, like G Gen Gather Beat and Advanced if the blue destiny units are destroyed she will awaken and join your crew, her states are great and is one of the best units in the game
There's also game only pilots too. Though that's large rabbit hole to dive in.
You could say that Rita Bernal IS the Phenex, since it's apparently still running around out there, and it largely seems to even have its own motivations. The fact that Rita can't directly communicate kinda sucks (you need to be a Newtype on the level of Amuro or Char to be able to do the brain-wave link thing), but she's definitely still out there. Have to wonder how she's still going though, even a Minovsky Ultracompact Fusion Reactor has to refuel eventually.
Marie Parfacy (who I assume you've waved off due to technically being the Harute's co-pilot), DID actually pilot a Gundam on her own. The GN Archer, despite not having Gundam in its name, IS a Gundam. It is in fact a retool of the abandoned GNY-0042-874 Gundam Artemie. The only reason it doesn't look like a Gundam is due to modifications to the head (the visor covers up the original face (it's still there), and the Artemie's aerials are still poking up out of the top of the modifications, just repainted white. The transformation so it can dock with the Arios is a later modification, and the Archer can still use a GN drive - if there was one to spare. The only reason why it was modified to run in tandem with the Arios is because there isn't a spare drive. The condenser that is used instead only allows it to remain undocked for half an hour, allegedly. The daft thing is, if they hadn't left a drive with the 0 Gundam, or if Hanayo (the Artemie's pilot) hadn't ditched it, the Artemie might have still been around without its weird modifications.
Blue Destiny and NT doing the ghost in the shell stuff lol
When tech got too advanced to become sorcery.

13:11 Yo yo!, I'd make a case for Sochie Heim and Merry Bell as a Gundam pilots too, both "borrowing" it from Loran
Berserk Allenby's smile basically equals doom like how when Kain the vampire smiles mean your doom. Oh, and Allenby is my favorite waifu. Been that way for 20 years.
I’m surprised that the fact that she piloted the Walter gundam and that rain was made into the “pilot” of the dark gundam
Fun fact in my school vr game when Marion welch meet Goalius for the first time she mistaken Goalius as a els mobile suit monstrosity but after it was revealed that He was trying to remove her soul from exam system and she thanked him by giving Goalius a version of the exam system but instate of using her soul as a conduit it boost the els quantum brainwaves to newtype levels and increase his combat proformance by 95% and for Stella during the fight against Goalius she injected herself with the nc virus (nc stand for Nintendo chrysalis) and turned into Ripley from metroids
Saya Mass' stunt reminds one of Sai Argyle's similar stunt in Gundam Seed.
I was dissapointed Feldt never got to pilot a Gundam. :(
Thank you for including Lady Une!
And yet also * Sad Mudie noises * 😭
I feel like this discussion of Gundam pilots also inevitably comes to the argument of what constitutes a "Gundam".
Love the misdirection with Kamile 😂
hearing Invoke immediately brought me back to my middle school days
You got me the 1st half with kamille😂
All 3 BDs were all GUNDAM ground type. BD-1 was originally tested on a GM ground type but later replaced by a GUNDAM ground type due to the GM's performance couldn't get the system's full potential. However they kept the GM head since the system was already installed in it. In the latest setting though, BDs were not GUNDAM ground type but RX-80 series.
6:47 😢😢😢 my tears are welling up
Since this video dropped several months ago it was before everything dropped about the original pilots of some of the Seven Star Gundams from IBO-MSV.
Lol the sums up wing
that gigguk qoute got me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Has to be Emma. She can both fight, and deliver a "Bright slap" with the best of 'em.
This is making me curious on who has piloted the most amount of Gundams.
Or alternatively who always seems to be encountering them in one way or another (one of the SRWs mentions Bright being destined to run into Gundams)
16:11 At this point he and Garnt should collaborate at some point
There's one more technicality in the Universal Century. Cima Garahau piloted the AGX-04 Gerbera Tetra which was a re-design (to make it look "Zeon") of the partially complete but canceled RX-78GP04G Gundam "Gerbera". So that could count. Maybe.
There's also the bit about the Rick Dias being the Gamma Gundam, but whether you count that one or not, I don't think it changes anything on this list.
Lunamaria Hawke is definitely my favorite female Gundam pilot.
16:10 ~No truer words have ever been said.
Shame that the Build Series is reserved for next year when it's gonna be the 10th anniversary of Build Fighters this year, Maybe we can get a most powerful Build Series Suit for that?
I dunno if you still do Question of the Week but if you do, can I ask this?
How different would Cha- I mean Quattro’s battles would be during the Gryps Conflict if he had piloted the Delta Gundam/II instead of the Hyaku-Shiki?

Na, you didn't forget anyone 🤭
Kidding aside, another great video
During the early concept stage of Gundam Seed, Strike Rouge was to be piloted by Flay Allster but after a giant overhaul, all that's left was the Rouge's pink color.
If you wanted to get super into the weeds, you could include Cima Garahau and her GP-04 Gerbera (Tetra)
yeah, I do agree. it's technically a modified gundam GP04... so we can count her in.
5:30 best female name ever.
In one of the Gundam 00 sequel mangas or promotional art I remember seeing the pilot of the Dynamis Repaired. They looked like girl Tierria, but I think the name was different. As an inovade it wouldn’t be impossible to implant mind into a lady body. Wonder if Mileana(?) still loves them.
That would be Laetitia Erde, who is a guy. Or at least as much of a guy as any innovade can be.
@@Linkstore49 oh really? Ok guess androgynous would be the right term. Coo

You did miss two more people in X - Tiffa arguably counts for all the times she has been the copilot of the X or DX, and Lucille, on top of helping pilot the G-Bits, if memory at all serves me also was one of the original test pilots for the X
Also, as someone else pointed out, Sochie, Merrybell and Teteth all got behind the wheel of the Turn A at some point or another
(also the thing about Cagalli in Destiny being because of VA drama is a complete myth, not true in the slightest)
Forgetting about Sochie and Teteth is pretty understandable... but Merrybell going on a rampage in the ∀ is a pretty big plot point. The only reason I can think of that he would've forgotten is just having not watched ∀ Gundam in ages.

You know, I can see Setsuna and Delling in a heated debate about what makes a Gundam, a Gundam
From what I’ve gathered it’s different in each universe, UC might as well call them prototype machines with some design influence, in G fighter there’s only Gundams, wing it’s the material they’re made of, in seed it’s the OS they run, 00 I’ve got no idea what makes a Gundam in that show (probably Setsuna’s word), IBO it’s the frame and engine of the machine and in Witch it’s Gund-arm technology being incorporated.
@@AtelierGod best thing I can say about 00's Gundams is they're mobile suits specifically designed around the GN Drive and to serve Celetial Being's interests.
@@Joshua_N-A I’d say the same if not for the fact that the Trinity machines might’ve thought they were on celestial beings side but they weren’t, and Ribbons made a Gundam for himself as well as reproduced older Gundams in 00F, and we can’t forget the GRM Gundam, and the GN-X machines are built around the GN drives but aren’t really considered Gundams.

Also i feel Murrue Ramius deserves special mention for attempting to pilot the Strike in the first ep of Seed
Lady Uon should of been an honorable mention in the Plot Armor vod.
I think you forgot about Miorine as she did pilot the Aerial, but we can debate she had the help of Suletta once she got into the field
As a Bloody Valentine enjoyer, Lunamaria is a total babe in my eyes. If only it was a different writer in charge, she could've been Destiny's best girl. For some reason, I wish the Savior was hers. Taking down Djibril would've been easy plus its her colour scheme. Then there's Riika Sheder though she's only a test pilot for the Gaia, don't think her being barely 5 ft tall means she doesn't have what it takes to be a pilot. Despite her disability (she's blind actually but a special device in the shape of a pair of glasses enables her to put out her full potential) she could climbing up the ranks and wear that coveted red uniform! Also, had it been a different writer and director, Cagalli or one of the Astray girls, who survived the last war, coming in the Strike Rouge saving Lacus and Kira. I miss the old Cagalli. To me, statecraft is still too early for her. At best she could do is run an interim postwar government until Orb elects a new leader that is.
If anything, story should've keep the focus on the Minerva, plus Luna could've been fleshed out even more perhaps her backstory. Cosmic Era got a lot of potential but never really executed properly most of the time.
Side note:
Not quite sure what to feel on Kakarot missing a jab in this video about the “Bloody Valentine” Wars on Valentine’s Day.
you also forgot Lacus Clyne, she briefly piloted the Infinite Justice Gundam from Space down to Earth so she could personally present it to Athrun.
I think suletta's mother technically counts? Oh and the girl that piloted the pre production Lfrith, and technically mionire since she briefly piloted the aerial in the first episode
She did pilot the Llfrith in the prologue (and was in fact her test pilot) so yeah, Prospera/Elnora most definitely count
