I've received a bunch of emails from people asking if they could tell if their fragrances were fake based solely off batch codes so I decided to make a video covering them. One thing I still can't understand especially for big designer companies. It is not hard at all to have a verification system with a unique QR code printed either inside the box or on bottle. This would make everything so easy for everyone.
Imagine buying a car and asking the dealer what year is it, and they tell you that you'll have to look up the VIN # yourself. That's the fragrance business!
As long as if can be re-printed, it can still be faked. The only thing I can think of that is very unlikely to be faked Is placing an encrypted chip.
Totally agree... frags are luxury items that needs nft blockchain services for authenticity verification
Sure, that seems simple. But to have a true and verified QR code - not one for website info or going to UA-cam videos - you'll have to go through GS1, a global company that's the standardisation organisation for barcodes, including the QR code, linked to selling and distribution. This means extra money and a standardised design etc etc. Most Fragrance companies just don't want that because for some reason money - and design - is even a bigger issue in the perfume world than other sectors. They'll have to have an EAN code or they can't be sold in (online) stores to begin with, but thàt is a step further.

When buying expensive Niche I always buy direct from the Niche house, I know I pay full retail but at least I know I'm getting the real thing, period! I buy designer from well known fragrance stockists, such as Fragrancex , Notino, Harrods, Selfridges etc. I want the genuine articles after all.

Automatically assume all their stuff is fake. Stick to eBay for cheaper options and read seller reviews. I’ve never had a problem there when getting a deal

I might add that if you have a legit bottle, submitting your batch code to those websites helps everyone out. The more we can do for each other, the quicker we can grow.

Solid info. I remember getting super paranoid the first time I had a batch code not check out and it was a brand new release lol
Even when buying direct from Amazon it’s hard to tell. With reformulations, skin temperature, and how the fragrance was stored or shipped. It could totally impact how the fragrance smell. Nowadays, current bottles even look different from vintage batches, so it’s hard not to be paranoid.
Amazon is terrible for Fakes don't buy from there!!

The only thing I can think of that is hard to fake is putting an encrypted chip to each bottle. This can be really useful for fairly expensive brands.

The hardest fragrance with recognition is Dior Fahrenheit. And I’m talking about vintage bottles since 1988 year till our days. Last week I spent 2 days with an investigation of one sealed bottle, it was really pain in the a**, because it was highly professional crafted FAKE. It was fake, but technically letters, color, information and other stuff was made great.
Fahrenheit changed too many little things on the boxes through the years🥵 so be careful

I'm in SA, and I got myself a bottle of Spicebomb with a batch code that said it was made in 2005 when I put it on Checkfresh...
Now Spicebomb is a 2012 cologne and Checkfresh said it was a bottle form 2005. I could easily tell myself that it's maybe a 2015 bottle because of the whole 10-year code recycling thing, but Spicebomb was not even around in 05.
What are the possibilities of this?
I work for Tom Ford ( packaging side ). Batch codes are for us to track batches. Not all of a batch of , say ombré leather, is bottled in one go . Some is stored the same as whiskey etc. Our codes are cyclical ( 10 years ). Basically the codes are useless for customers, never been aimed at them . We are given fragrance as gift at Xmas.. plain bottle no logos etc so if you see these , sometimes they are perfectly legit 👍🏻

I love your channel, and I love wearing men fragrances. A topic that is neglected is men perfumes for women. Can you make a video of unisex and masculine perfumes for women to wear - Summer time... Fall/Winter. No one is doing those, it's a missed opportunity.
Lol, have you noticed how apologetic male reviewers are when they sheepishly say something "leans a bit unisex" so as not to trigger any insecure viewers? Female reviewers (curlyscents, curlyfragrance/etc) don't do that. I also have a collection that is 99% "men's" fragrances and can't imagine letting gendered marketing tell me that something isn't for me.

@@polly2018 My favourite ''men's'' fragrance for summer is Prada Luna Rossa EDT. When I tried it on my skin, I was so surprised how wonderfull can smell the ''men's'' perfume also on me. And I'm normally mainly the sweet and fresh ''feminine'' perfumes lover 😄 But that one fragrance changed my view and probably it's not my last ''masculine'' perfume 😎

I purchased Tribeca Bond no9 from cultbeauty in the UK i heard it was a legit site and paid alot of money but the bathcode is not found and there is also no other indentations on the bottle or the box. it smells amazing and lasts so long but i have no idea if its real and the bottle seems fine kind of freaking out what should i do?

I got a Nishane perfume with no batch code on the bottle (it was just in the paper box) but i read on fragrantica that Nishane don't have it in older bottles of 50ml. So i looked to my other perfumes today and i realized that Jo Malone perfumes don't have batch code in the bottle but i got Jo M. perfumes from their maison and from their shops at copenaghen airport so they can't be fake.

Isn't there a small chance that an employee at Nordstrom swaps out some fakes for some of their real inventory. Very low chance but...it has happened. Employees get caught quickly though cause the fakes are so bad and loss prevention can see who is doing it.
Is there a place I can send my cologne to get verified? I found my dads old Gucci envy but the sticker was peeled off the bottom. There is a spot where you clearly see the sticker was.

Can anyone help me I purchased Dior Hommae parfum off of eBay recently and there’s a batch code on the box but on the fragrance itself it has the Christian Dior information but there is also what appears to be a number 24 on the bottom bottle does anyone know what this May mean or suggest🤔🤔

As far as I know you spray the stronger scent first. But just try it out. And maybe try out spaying both at the same time.
for cosmetic check, I just found out u need to caps when caps are present on the bottle to get it to come up. cz I panicked when my newly bought givenchy didn't and i tried again with caps as per bottle says and it came right up. not sure about fresh for I have not tried.

Do some fake Aventus bottles have batch codes on the bottom? I know someone who bought some from a private company on Amazon and there were a number of things that didn't match up. The nozzle on the atomizer was white, the lid had a sharp curve like on the fakes, the back of the label was out of line on the edge where it overlaps so part of it was sticking out and the front of the label was all flat. It did have a batch code on the underneath though. There are also quite a few recent buyers on the reviews claiming theirs is fake.
I just got a legit 100ml bottle of 18b11 for £180 from ebay I put a cheeky offer in and was accepted.

My Amouage Jubilation XXV has "Jubilation XXV" on the bottle. 99% of the ones I've seen just have Amouage on the bottle? Is it fake?
What about two batch codes on the same bottle? I have two batch codes, one with slightly bigger font, but they are like over 5 years apart so I'm very confused.
In my case the perfume has the batch code on the box but not the bottle ! Is it fake ? Knowing that when I bought it it was sealed.
Love this. I just checked a Frag I bought recently. The batch code came up and it says it was made 4 years, 6 months, and 21 days ago. How is that possible for a famous brand, and what does this mean to its quality ?
It's possible, no worries. Quality is ok as long as it was new and not opened. Make sure that you buy from reputable sellers. Regards

I just bought a bottle of PDM Greenley from Nordstrom... from a real live PDM rep at the store and the bottle and box did not have a batch code?

Your Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Infrared batchcode of 22U10D4 @ 8:23 is a January, 2021 bottle. For all L'Oreal brands that use a 7 digits batch code, the 3rd digit is the year and the 4th digit is the month. U=2021 and 1 = January.

The new batch codes with the letter "U" have not yet been entered into the database of verification sites, so you receive an error.
I got an error code on a batch code starting with an M
I've been using the check sites for a while now. I recently caught a sale at Bloomington. I got one PDM and One Goldfield and Banks. the Goldfield arrived in a torn up box. The PDM arrived without a batch code on the box or bottle. To this day bloomington refuses to answer emails. Also alot of overseas frags are in included in the check DB.

I bought a bottle of Starwalker and the writing on the front of the bottle was a different style. It was MONTBLANC instead of

BLANC
and it got erased by touching it with my hand. Also the batch code says this is from 2023, but this perfume was discontinued before then. It's a shame since I bought this at a big store.
I got a bottle of oud Jasime from Royal Crown off ebay, with no batch code on the bottom. Pretty sure it's fake, is there anyplace else it could be? I'm not a fan of this fragrance, smells like hair spray if it's not fake.

The juice inside the bottle even gets counterfeited nowadays. Excellent quality counterfeiting, smells exactly like the authentic. There are excellent quality Rolex watches spotting fakes, only can be traced under microscope, watched it on youtube. Batch, bottle, barcode are very easy. The only difference is that the juice of the fake will dilute within short period of time, whereas the authentic will get richer and stronger. Thanks for sharing 👍👍👍

It doesn't necessarily mean that the bottle is fake but more than likely it is out of a different box. This is unusual because even the fakes have matching box and bottle codes.

Got a couple Azzaros (Wanted by Night & Visit) that won't pull on Check Fresh but both are authentic. Interesting your Ferragamo wouldn't pull, my Uomo Signature comes back no issues.

How do I spot a fake SWY Absolutely?
I just buy my fragrances from reputable companies, or from the manufacturers themselves. I don’t even look at the batch code because I know what I bought is authentic. Some people have waaaaaaaaaaay too much time on their hands. Just buy from legit places and you will never have to worry. Pretty simple actually. 👍
The reason to check the batch codes and the formula codes is to see the date of the bottle. Some later bottles, although authentic, have very poor performance like the most recent D&G The One EdP batches.
@@shave-a-thon3415 You should know performance issues before you buy it. If buying from a real store you will receive a newer batch. If you don't like it, return it. This is really very simple.
@@Austin_2015 That's why I did with the The One - EdP. Most people who just casually buy don't understand that a review they see or read that discusses great performance may be discussing older formulations, and many wouldn't even have a clue where to find out about performance issues. I just was discussing this with a journalist who mentioned that their friends can't seem to smell their Creed anymore and they thought it might have been changes in their skin chemistry.

Bro, people lie. they want so desperatly to beleive their fragrance is real so they claim to have bought it from a legit place. Some peple who wear fake would rather have a fake Aventus bottle than buy Club Nuit intense man, because to them it doesnt matter if the product is real all that matters is if they can convince people its real.

Just buy from a department store or boutique. If you can’t afford it, don’t bother buying it. Simple.
I always have that problem with Mancera. None of there batch codes never shows up.
Mancera won't even discuss batch codes via email for fear of counterfeits.

i bought an ultra male online off a reputable site but que QR code under the packaging doesnt work , everything else looks fine but im not sure if its real or not
That's why I only buy from trusted sources. Macy's, Saks Fifth, Nordstrom, etc.. Never buy my cologne from online sources..
