I’ve been sampling decants of niche fragrances lately. At that price point, blind buying just is not a smart move. Sometimes you’ll find that you just straight up do not enjoy a fragrance. (For me it was Interlude Man and Initio Side Effect). And other times, you might really enjoy a fragrance but you find the performance lacking for the price. (Looking at you Herod and current batches of Layton). Out of the samples I recently received, I think I’m going to purchase Haltane. But long story short….don’t blind buy expensive niche fragrances. Spend some money and get some decants so you can spend some time with them first before deciding that you want to buy them.
I still blind buy all my fragrances but I do some serious extensive research before I buy them, and I think that’s what has helped me avoid a lot of niche fragrances that aren’t worth it. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea to trust what strangers say online but if 20 people are saying the same thing across different forums I’d listen.
Decant to me is the way to go for highly expensive perfumes. We know there would be new perfumes every year and most times you won’t be able to wear all what you currently have. I have PDM,Initio and some decants from FragranceNet. And most of my full bottles are like around 150 and below. I will keep it this way because it saves me money kind of and tend to have so much choices regardless of size wise.
Honestly, unless you like collecting bottles themselves for display, this is the way. Even wearing fragrance everyday might blow through 2 100ml bottles per year. Any kind of 'collection' quickly outpaces how much you can actually ever use.
For me it has to be Aventus Cologne. My favorite warm weather scent I’ve ever smelled by far, I of course got it on discount but still the most expensive bottle I own. Still loving it
Dior sauvage elixir is my most expensive cologne in my collection 150+ tax retail for 60 ml worth every penny going on almost 3 years still got a little less than half of juice left super strong only need a couple sprays. Amazing fragrance 💯
I purchased Oud for Greatness which is by far the most expensive perfume I've ever had. And, everyday I smell the cap even on the days I don't wear it just because I can't get enough of it. My wife absolutely loves it on me.
I disagree. Justification via ego will not prevent future errors by justifying past mistakes. Own your own mistakes to not repeat them, and understand we are all fallible. Be well, smell incredible.
My most expensive fragrance is Kilian Straight to Heaven Extreme with K clutch for $600. Took me years to find. If we are talking Carafe then it would be Kilian Single Malt (2015) and/or Apple Brandy New York (2016). Both coffrets cost me $1500 brand new in box. I bought a bottle of both of these for $450-500 both with clutch. These are my top 3 grail fragrances and they are worth every penny and the price just keeps going up since they are long gone and discontinued. I also just paid the $500 retail on Amouage Jubilation 40 and wasn’t very happy with it so I sold it for $450. My next big one will be a Krigler Patchouli 55 at $1k +.
Recently bought Dior parfum. $184, for me that is a lot. Worth it due to how hard it is to find in the "states". I have a decant and tried several times to purchase when it popped up online. Never quick enough when i saw the email. Always sold out. Finally scored.
I’ve probably spent a few thousand dollars on my fragrance collection, mostly vintage Antaeus Pour Homme of the 1980s and 1990s, but also on others. I love the smell of Antaeus. A very masculine fragrance in my opinion. I don’t regret it.
Agreed about Chanel, they don’t discount their products, I would never get Chanel on eBay especially if heavily discounted. I got all my Chanel’s from the official sites.
I’ll have to broaden my horizons a bit… I don’t don’t really get into unisex scents… I see many of them on this list…. And your descriptions make them sound pretty enticing. Your content is very helpful as I get back into fragrances as an older man. I was wearing safari and cool water when they came out and I was in 9th grade. We would have our parents drop us off early before a movie date to raid the Macys testers😂😂. Thanks again!
Greenly my favorite. It's not that much like apple shampoo, that's cap. Everyone says that and I think people will overlook it, but don't. My favorite from that house. Layton is great too. It has an additive and intoxicating dry down. Put on molecule 01 as a base coat and it's next level.
I forgot to answer that question on the community tab but my answer is PDM Carlisle I paid about $300 or so and I do love it especially when I first got it I'm never smelled anything like that before but yeah I do like it
Recently for me is Parfum de Marly Layton. It was on sale for about 50% off, because I am not sure if I would pay full price. I did have a small vial of it prior to my purchase and it was excellent. So when the 50% deal came around (the deal was only for 48 hours) I grabbed it as quickly as possible. This was worth every penny. I would never blind buy again. I did it once with Dior Fahrenheit and it was terrible on my skin, never again. Definitely buy small vials or test them at department stores before buying.

I want to buy PDM Layton when it goes back on sale from a discounter but rumors of reformulation is stopping me from dropping the money. Am I just better off with a high quality clone?
I only have a few expensive fragrances. Herod, Sedley are two that I had to get and i dont regret but idk if they are exactly "worth the money" especially when i have alot of Montagnes dupes that are pretty high quality. Everyone I've tried is spot on and 1.7oz for $40-$60 is a great price.
I haven't purchased bottles of my most expensive decants yet. But my most expensive decant I have bought is Valmont Gaggia Medio I and it is incredible worth every penny scent 🔥💪😍
I have a new batch (5 months old) naxos, i bought it for 190$, unopened full box. I love it. And on my skin, thsi new batch still long lasting. A bit more citrusy then the old batches.

Reflection man 45 was insanely expensive, I still sort of regret paying so much for it .. however it has pretty much turned into my signature scent the last month or so .. I like it so much I reach for it at least 4-5 times a week
my first bottle like some "niche" frangance is Ajmal, Cashmere woods... at 120 USD, and i love it... now y have like 30 or 40 fragances, like naxos, greenley, hacivat, chez bond, silver birtch, haltane, etc, but Cashmere woods have a place in the collection by first and oudy fragance.
The most expensive one I bought was arabians tonka for 120 euros, fantastic scent that with 3 sprays last you 16-18 hours to me and stays in the clothes until you wash them.
Not flexing, but after sampling, spending €350 on Bortnikoff Musk Khabib is my most expensive single bottle. But my various Ensar Oud and Areej Le Dore sets have run me more than that. I have Green Irish Tweed & Aventus from a decade or so ago...Finally, those YSL Le Vestiares are expensive too...Always sample first, folks!
elisire desire, 30ml at $185, price per ml thats one of the most expensive ive ever bought. totally worth it, it is my wifes favorite. aaron terrence hughes onyx extreme and xerjoff richwood are my next most expensive, but they were less per ml for sure and also worth it
Initio Paragon and Xerjoff Monkey Special. Both around the same price (albeit Paragon is cheaper per ml as it is a 90ml bottle), but both worth every penny. Certainly different occasions, still loving on each wearing.
The massive L’Homme bottles are so funny looking 😂 that’s when you know you’re addicted to the fragrance that you don’t care that it looks like a water bottle
They are ridiculously huge, but for me.. I try and get as much juice for my money as possible. I can’t stand having a thousand 1.7, 2.0, or whatever is the next size! I’m a 4.0 oz or more purchaser if they are available. I have 400 bottles now and I have quite a few of the aforementioned sizes that take up too much real estate in my FRAGRANCE cabinet.
There was this cologne I am pretty sure it's PRADA that was at JFK in white and black bottles with etching on the glass, smelled amazing but priced for $320 a bottle or so, since I got home I been trying to find it and can't find it anywhere.. Tried Versace, nothing. If anyone knows what I'm talking about PLEASE reply and let me know thank you!
It happened so much on my Egyptian Smoke that I used a knife and whittled some of the inside plastic off. It no longer snug but no more collar problems 😂
Sir, I think the studio looks great. But I would like to add that you should wear something a bit more sharp. It adds to the ambiance when speaking of such expensive fragrances.
I bought the large bottle of Green Irish Tweed from Nieman Marcus for $415 a couple of years ago. The lady who sold it to me that the 20 years she sold Creed, she said that she’s never had a better match of parfum to client than I did. It was worth it! It’s such a versatile cologne, and I get a huge amount of compliments!
Pricy yes but you don’t always need 100ml, sometimes 10 ml is enough for a year or two or three. Also look for trusted grey market shop for cheaper prices and yeah Chanel doesn’t end up on grey market like mentioned in this vid. Ani, Pegasus exclusif, Ganymede, Ombre Leather and Naxos are my top 5 in no particular order.
My most expencive so far is roja enigma pour home at £350 for 50ml.. now im saving for herritage from du bois at £580 for 100ml.. Enigma is worth the 350 but i think i will cry when i spend the close to 600 on herritage until i get the bottle in my hands that is.
Percival 125ml is my biggest purchase at £200. £90 for 50ml of Thameen Carved Oud is the biggest in terms of price per ml. That is until, I finally purchase 100ml of Amouage Reflection Man, thats some expensive juice but I simply must have it in my collection.
I just picked up Miller Harris' Oud Eclat after absolutely huffing a sampler I got for weeks. Originally I found a place that had it for €139, but of course it jumped to €179 on the day I got paid... still worth it. I might have even paid retail, though the Dutchman in me would rather not. Might have to when I finally pull the trigger on one of the State of Mind perfumes, though...
I tried Enigma and Burlington at the Roja store in London and I must say I was pretty disappointed by both. Elysium was amazing but the others were too overbearing and ridiculously expensive.
Did you just say even if you buy Parfums de marly from a reputable discount website, its still fake? I just bought Sedley from Auro Frangrences, will it not be real when I get it?
This is a scary video for me because I shouldn't be buying more at the moment, but I always want to pick up a new fragrance.. I've been interested in Initio, Roja, MFK, and Maison Crivelli.. I did just buy a couple of the Initio decant bundles.. I wasn't expecting to see designers on here as well..
I find the lack of Creed Royal Oud on this list disturbing. As a fragrance it actually smells like the price tag. Not in a weird super niche way, but it smells like you expect a millionaire banker or oil tycoon to smell.
@riddleoffeels4518 Wouldn't that be more YOU based off your original comment? 😆. I think you're starting to become more self-aware, slowly but surely lol
Creed designer? I thought designer meant they also made a clothing line? Maybe not. Aventus is nice but too many people wear it so it doesn't stand out as much. I like the Portugal and Royal Water from Creed.
Creation -E, Parfum Pour Homme$440plus tax; Oligarch Gold Top EDP $440plus tax;One Luminous Night$375plus tax; Golden Anniversary Roberto Cavalli$375plus tax; Triumph of Bacchus$360plus tax lastly cause I don't want to bore you Burlington 1819$350 plus tax and I love them and every other fragrance I have Ash...
I want Greenley...Just can't imagine it would be worth it
I've spent 189 euros for sauvage Elixir at a duty free, i think its one of the best scents i've smelled although i never tried any niche fragrance
Excellent vid Ash!
Naxos is a beast
my most expensive one is tom ford grey vetiver so far... its worth every penny
PDM Layton is my expensive bottle at 250. I knew I had to have it at first smell. Naxos or Reflection 45 will be my next.
My most high price my four fragrance from mind games around 360 and higher but still was worth it. Grandmaster, double attack,,,,
I just picked up Miller Harris' Oud Eclat after absolutely huffing a sampler I got for weeks. Originally I found a place that had it for €139, but of course it jumped to €179 on the day I got paid... still worth it. I might have even paid retail, though the Dutchman in me would rather not. Might have to when I finally pull the trigger on one of the State of Mind perfumes, though...
Creed Royal Oud. 6 bills, & I bought the scent of heaven!! No other scent comes close.
I love Royal Oud too. You might try Clive Christian V as I’ve heard it’s similar to RO.
I tried Enigma and Burlington at the Roja store in London and I must say I was pretty disappointed by both.
Elysium was amazing but the others were too overbearing and ridiculously expensive.
have you tried montal intense pepper ?
Did you just say even if you buy Parfums de marly from a reputable discount website, its still fake? I just bought Sedley from Auro Frangrences, will it not be real when I get it?
Ash please do a review on ysl babycat, been waiting forever for ur thoughts
Great Review 👍
I just got a 125ml of Layton for 165. Don't regret that. But the most I have spent is 250 for Kilian L'Heure Verte. Don't regret it. I f'n love it.
I thought we might see something from House of Sillage. Haven’t smelled any of them myself but have heard people compliment a few of their colognes.
I spent a shiny pretty penny on Jayne Ormand montebaco.
Roja burlighton is one of the grratest parfum for me
This is a scary video for me because I shouldn't be buying more at the moment, but I always want to pick up a new fragrance.. I've been interested in Initio, Roja, MFK, and Maison Crivelli.. I did just buy a couple of the Initio decant bundles..
I wasn't expecting to see designers on here as well..
Have you managed to smell the Moncler pour homme I have the 150ml bottle with the digital screen that I paid £170 for so what £240 USD?
I bought a kenzo aqua because some UA-camrs said its similar to one million lucky.its not even close.
Paid $250 for my ‘17 Aventus 4oz, 80% left & wouldn’t sell it for $1000
Didn't it expire years ago? Shelf life...
@@PP_Derrick smells the same in ‘23 as it did 6 yrs ago
I paid $120 for 75ml of Greenley. I like it, but can't say I love it. I thought this is a freshie, can't go wrong. But I didn't like the sharpness.
Mojave Ghost for me $400+ . Only wear it when it’s hot or in Vegas 😂
for me most expensive per ml is la capitale but most expensive bottle is naxos
I find the lack of Creed Royal Oud on this list disturbing. As a fragrance it actually smells like the price tag. Not in a weird super niche way, but it smells like you expect a millionaire banker or oil tycoon to smell.
You will be ok.
You like that stink. Congratulations 🎉
@@jasonthibeaux1049 Or we could both be electrocuted through our keyboards. Yes I can make pointless and off topic comments as well.
@@Snk13_ty You're one of those "stink pretty" guys aren't you? lol
@riddleoffeels4518 Wouldn't that be more YOU based off your original comment? 😆. I think you're starting to become more self-aware, slowly but surely lol
I paid full price for interlude, I absolutely Don't regret it
Mine was the Xerjoff Tony Iommi, 270eur and it was woth it ! 😎
Creed designer? I thought designer meant they also made a clothing line? Maybe not. Aventus is nice but too many people wear it so it doesn't stand out as much. I like the Portugal and Royal Water from Creed.
Greenley is AMAZING!!!
Creation -E, Parfum Pour Homme$440plus tax; Oligarch Gold Top EDP $440plus tax;One Luminous Night$375plus tax; Golden Anniversary Roberto Cavalli$375plus tax; Triumph of Bacchus$360plus tax lastly cause I don't want to bore you Burlington 1819$350 plus tax and I love them and every other fragrance I have Ash...
