Lots of questions on how I sync my Garmin with Apples Activity Rings, So I made a video on it 👉ua-cam.com/video/zFxzut9mwkY/v-deo.html
First time checking out your content. I do not normally comment much on youtube however I never knew about the preprogrammed workout and training plans for running/cycling! Much appreciate the time you put into this. Happy 2023 and once again thank you
Welcome aboard! That's really neat to hear. I got 2 Garmin Videos coming up end of this month. Really good ones on new update app features. Should be a fun one!
Thanks for your videos ! They are getting me more hyped for my new Fenix 7s!
Right on time for the new year! The Fénix 7s is 🔥
Great video! Your ability to review products is top notch and yeah Garmin watches are great for some people looking for a nice and fun life of training, looking forward to your future reviews and content keep up the fantastic work!☺
I appreciate that so much Tom. I just uploaded a new video today, its great if you're new to Garmin.
Cheers for this video dude. I’ve just bought the 255 music and loving it! Building workouts next
Thank you for the video. Honestly, the best video I found regarding the garmin app.
Really great to hear that. Thanks a lot, any questions or suggestion let me know. Thanks
this video helped me understand more of the garmin app. As a current AW S7 owner, I am def considering a Garmin watch. thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching! Garmin connect has a clean and useful look
I love my Apple Watch for everyday but been considering a Garmin and this is was the content i wanted to see. Great video!
Thanks for watching. I made some UA-cam shorts that show some daily difference between the two if they can help you a bit more. Much appreciated. More videos next week
The battery for Garmin is amazing.
Awesome Awesome video Bro, in-depth and great information.
Definitely earned a subscription.
Having videos which explain the features of these tools is so needed!!! I have the Enduro 2, I use it in conjunction with MyFitnessPal (food and calories) and Fitbod (Strength training plans based on skill level and equipment) Thank you
Thanks for the sub! the fact that you took the time to write that means a bunch. I am very familiar with fitbod. your using the app through your mobile smartphone?
@@Aesthetic_Al Yes. Then transferring the workout to MyFitnessPal as Cardio. But after watching your detailed video and a few others, I’m in the process of side loading the workout from Fitbod onto Garmin in advance then use the watch to track the workout in live time.
I use my Garmin for workouts because of this, and an AW for daily use ;) Best of both worlds.
haha love it. Hey if you can afford the two why not haha
Super helpful
Like your channel man. AW to Garmin for me too. Keep it up!
Awesome! I appreciate that Austin! I testing the Apple Watch ultra right now seeing how much different is it from my previous Apple Watch
How can you use another Lifting app like JeFit, Strong or something else. I konw that the other apps don't connect to the heart rate monitor of the watch. So how do you use another tracking tool you like (rather than the garmin connect app) to monitor calories and HR? This is my only hang-up with the Garmin right not, I have the Fenix 7X solar. I have no problems with Cardio, but can't figure out a way to track lifting. Should I just not worry about it and only use my App for tracking Reps/Sets etc. and not worry about it? Thanks and your videos have been good. I've been watching them all, hope the Garmin works out and I still have my apple too, just not using it right now.
Can't wait to see more swimming content
Is this epix 2? Or epix pro ? Comparing this with the Apple Watch ultra 2 which one do u prefer? Which has better heart rate accuracy? Thanks
Do they or can you have a premade adaptive plan for regular workouts? Like I’m doing the 5k and can see it on my calendar but I heard you say you set it up on the calendar yourself.
I’m not to keen on what to work out lol, I mean I have my own rack, dumbbells and weights but I want to follow a plan like the adaptive run. Hope I make sense 😂
Amazing video!
At 3:50 You mention that a trainer could build a workout and send it to it's student.
How does it works? I could just figure out how to build workouts from my login and send it to my watch, not for someone else's.
Curious to hear your thoughts on HumanGo AI training plans
Hi there, first of all thx for the nice and interesting videos.
I personally hesitate between an Apple Watch and a Garmin Epix for general fitness planning and health and performance monitoring.
Is it possible in Garmin connect to have long term stats of the max weight with different strength exercices ? Would be nice on top of the already good running features.
As of today what would you recommand between these two models and ecosystems ? It seems that Apple is very well catching up with a better and better ecosystem and excellent measures accuracy and reliability.
Thx again for the feed back and keep the good work 👍😊
Cheers from France 🇫🇷
I'm not the UA-camr but I've Garmin to be far better when it comes to workout training. You are able to log max weights with different strength exercises. It even asks you at the start of using Garmin Connect to put in your max reps and weights to give you a better plan. On top of that, if you want to create a plan you can do it on your computer, or phone rather than faff around with using the watch. I have the Apple Watch S6 but I've switched to a second hand Fenix 6 Pro sapphire.
@@tomwebb10 thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. 👍🙏
Garmin & apple user here - been using garmin all the way up till apple released ios 16/ watch os 9 but after watching this video I’ll be switching back to garmin - so much detailed info on the garmin calendar etc 🙏
Watch OS 9 has some nice features coming out. Enhancing the experiences with running and swimming. Also multi sport capabilities perfect for triathlon coming this fall i believe. Garmin already has these features but the only way i would consider going back to Apple is if they made rugged design with more buttons. Im super satisfied with my Garmin tho for sure. Glad this video could help.
I have gone from Apple Watch 6 to an Epix 2. The power of the Epix 2 for me is the coach and training plans it is a totally different beast to the Apple Watch for fitness. I do miss the controls for Spotify, responding to texts etc, however that said the Epix 2 is an awesome watch and I shall not be going back to Apple anytime soon.
Epix has controls for music. Hold down top button on left side of Watch (backlight button) and that takes you to controls screen. Scroll to music controls.
You can set a shortcut to get to music controls faster. Go back to watch face and hold down the middle button on the left side (up button) to go to main menu. Scroll to “System” and then to “Hot keys.” Here you can set music controls as one of the hot keys.
I believe you can also set up music controls as a widget/glance. If you’re on the main Watch face and press the down button to get to widgets/glances then go to very bottom and press edit. Then add music controls.
I've been responding to texts or declining/accepting calls during my rides even on Instinct Solar 🤷
Great vid!
I really appreciate it! I have a Garmin playlist you might find pretty informative. Made some new videos regarding the Garmin connect app
@@Aesthetic_Al awesome, cheers bro.
I'll check it out 🤙
Does suunto has this option to?
Great video. I wish it would integrate with Cronometer also. It is much better than myfitness pal.
I can see more 3rd party apps being compatible. Myfitnesspal starting October 1st is making their barcode scanner for premium members only. So many people are tired of it and how many ads are everywhere on the app. Chronometer and lose it should link up with Garmin 🙏🏼
Thanks for the feedback.
What's the name of the song in the beginning of the intro ? :)
Hi. Thanks for the vid. Is there anywhere in the app or a widget where you can see total calories burned? Just got my first Garmin but I can only see goal, food, and active calories. Coming from the Fitbit app I was able to quickly see actual total calories burned for the day. Thanks!
Im here for the same answer/question?
My garmin connect app cannot link with myfitnesspal even though it says its connected to myfitnesspal.
Thank for the video. Is that Epix 2? What I found in general to be a big bummer is when you chose strength training it just won't count the reps correctly then it asks me for weight. So I like to do high intensity training with weights, but by the time I fiddle and edit every rep I lose my heart rate.
This is the Epix 2. hmm I agree its not always accurate. I dont high intensity training so we differ but when I do my main power lifts. (Squat, bench and deadlift) its fairly accurate most of the time. Those my my main lifts I focus on. The epix 2 had an update I want to say around May that I noticed an improvement. But still tho high intensity I know can be different than powerlifting.
Can’t you just tell it to NOT try to auto-count reps?
All exercises? Not true. No standard fitness machines found. All kind of chest presses except the machines you find in any fitness. Rep counting is hit and miss and when editing it never uses the last corrected number as default. The Connect app is lacking too. No decent filters to find the workout you need; also no illustrations given. When you record an adhoc workout and painstakingly edit it afterwards to be correct, you can't save it as workout. The workouts are also static. That is, you can't switch sets if more convenient at the moment. Neh, it seems they added it as afterthought just to say feature x included.
Edit: i have the garmin music 245. I like not needing my phone for music. 😃
I also started using garmin in 2021. I've had the same watch since then.
The garmin app seems to calculate productivity based on frequency vs overall distance for running. That kinda pushes me away from improving my distance and instead focus on how many times I workout per week. Thats my only conplaint.
I feel like the journal is good if you are training for something. It takes me a while to enter the data so I rarely use it. But im npt training gor anything at this time. 🙂
Thanks for sharing so many insightful comments and congrats on your 10k!? In regards to the shokz hovering over the ear I think they make great race headphones. I like the ability to listen to my music but here my surrounding when I have friends or family cheering.
on the App for workout journal you can also "Duplicate" a workout and tweak it to "create" a new one. It makes my lifting workouts literally only take about 60 seconds to input because the exercises are usually the same just adjusting more weight.
Feel free to follow along on instagram or tiktok. Hope I can help you on your fitness journey
Just got a Garmin watch! Really enjoying it. However, I am struggling with getting myfitnesspal to transfer what I am eating. It says both are linked to each other but it is not importing the data.
Also, if I create a workout how do I find that work out in the watch?
The amount of things you can do with this watch is amazing but sometimes overwhelming…😅
Congrats on the Garmin. Yeah it has a lot of features and not sure if it’s your first sports watch or your coming from an Apple Watch but I hope it helps you. To sync the two make sure on your Garmin app on the my day tab. Once you are in that tab hit the refresh icon and it should push data from the app to watch.
In regards to my fitness pal I disconnected them before trough the Garmin Connect website, not in the mobile apps, and reconnect again. I never had an issue with my fitness pal but with Strava and that did the trick.
Please make an updated one for 2024
Keep it up
will do. Thank you
I don't know why its doesn't read the heart correctly in the gym
Does the data sync with the Apple Fitness app to track workouts and closing rings?
I have a new video on that tomorrow :) its not a simple yes or no.. It can so I made a video to show you how
ua-cam.com/video/zFxzut9mwkY/v-deo.html This is the only way to have your Garmin close your Apple Activity rings. Hope it helps
Do you feel awake during the day? Coz it says you only had around 38mins of deep sleep? I thought mine was low coz I average 60mins of deep sleep
I never get good sleep when I travel 😢. When filming this I was visiting my family in the east coast.
My moms beat juice made it 🙌🏻
The Juice to PR!!!
The only bad thing is after you finish your workout, you can't update the latest kg (volume) or reps on your workout plan, and you have to update the plan everytime before you start the plan
That's very true. I wish you could do all that on the App and also web based. Since I've been working with a Online coach I wish a bit more focus would be put the on the web version as well. idk if that makes sense. Still way better than the little customization you get from apple for example
It’s still unclear how to integrate the running and strength and mobility (like yoga) into a coherent plan.
Could you explain by coherent plan? want to see if I can help or if anyone has this issue. Thanks Kevin
What are you drinking?
I don't understand why people compare garmin to apple watches, they are junk compared to garmin. Apple watches are not even close to garmin watches. Not a single apple watch gets close to the enduro 2 or fenix 7x
Apple has really good trackers, I have used both and both work great. Apples battery just dont last and thats the problem with apple. If apple would make a watch that would last as long ss garmin fenix 7x I would ditch garmin for that.
I got the first Apple Watch still work great. 😂
Agreed and i would never go back to AW. I’m sticking to my garmin. There fitness tracking just blows the apple watch by miles any day.
I think they are for different purposes. Apple Watch casual health lifestyle (mix style with data). Garmin = sports , hardcore data analysis. You can’t do a ultra marathon with an apple watch for example
Not true, Apple is far, far better when it comes to sleep tracking. Its comical how bad garmins is
