Hold up! I know this video is 6 month old and I am probably typing this for no one but the Garmin Running Dynamics pod is NOT a foot pod and it is certainly NOT worn on your shoe. Garmin used to sell a foot pod but it has been discontinued. If you want Running Dynamics data you can get it when you paid the HRM Pro Plus (from your video).
It’s interesting you say that. A PTI once said to me that in order to simulate running on a flat road, you need to set a treadmill on the a 1% incline. There is some debate around that though!
For right now I focus on time and heart rate. Most of my runs are 45 minutes. I usually run zone 3 so I know I'm getting a good workout. My garmin says I'm running much faster. So I just do time/heart rate
Thanks for the video, sums up pretty much everything you need to know about Garmin on treadmills, however there is a little confusion, that is not a foot pod, is a running dynamics pod, and is supposed to be worn in the lower back, the clip goes in the waistband of your shorts.
One issue I encounter is that it doesn't count the steps on the treadmill, that bother me because of some garmin challenge with steps not being counted. is there some way?
So you’re not really calibrating it then, you’re just adjusting the estimated distance to match the actual distance? Or does it get more accurate over time?
So I ran 2 x 1 mile runs this morning. 1 said I done .25 miles and the other .40 and neither brought up the option to calibrate? Does that mean I need to run 3 mile for my brand new watch to tell me I’ve ran a mile
I am assuming you have to be BT connected to the treadmill for the calibrate option to show? As a Fenix 6 pro user the manual says it has that option but no such item shows up in the menu once the run is complete. Of course my treadmill doesn't show up when I start a run either.
Can garmin Connect show live activity data such as Pace, HR, time duration etc while running on treadmill as second display rather than looking at watc? Polar Beat app can do that with any polar watch
Im in the process of buying Garmin forerunner 55. Main use is going to be on a treadmill, so it should be fine with calibration? I want to track my heart rate and calories. What would you say, is it accurate enough? I heard good things about it. And also, can i use the watch through the day home/work? Thank you
I’m an Apple Watch user. I want to switch to garmin. Which garmin watch do u recommend? For strength training at gym, counting steps, light cardio. I will sync to my fitness pal
Good vid - The calibration work pretty well on my super dumb treadmill. I use an Epix 2 Pro with the HRM Pro+ most treadmill runs. I wanted to try something else for a comparison and ordered an NPE Runn sensor a few days ago. Get a few hours of outdoor runs with the HRM strap and it will improve calibration. That is the Tox watch face is anyone wanted to know ha. Tox and Teko are pretty nice.
Hi mate, thanks for your video. wondering if i should buy this or not, as running on the treadmill would not calculate your VO2Max as you need the GPS but it appears using the footpod on the treadmill would , can you confirm that? cheers
I have noticed that some cardio machines could connect directly with your watch via Bluetooth. The part that sucks it most of them are more compatible with Samsung and Apple. I try my best to use my Garmin for outdoor runs and my Apple watch ultra for indoor cardio. I enjoy both watches, have epix pro 2 for couple of months. Love the design and look to it. but also have the ultra :)
Exactly even a Stryd pod needs a little calibration Just adjust the distance in the post run option every run takes 10 seconds then you run log data will be accurate
If running at different paces all the time on treadmill, th adjusted average pace will be accurate after calibration but the individual km lap paces will be out, meaningless. @L-dw5sx
If you want to update strava distance after editing the distance in garmin connect. 1. edit in garmin connect 2. export to tcx file 3. edit tcx file. change the distance there 4. upload it to strava (don't forget to delete existing activity)
thank you very much for your review .. i love garmin but still i stick to apple watch .. the big difference for me when is use apple watch feature "gym kit" to pair my watch to the treadmil or elliptical cross trainer and really it give me a very big difference .. i wish one day that i will see the same feature in garmin watch to pair with machine directly.
I would love to see a video on a cheaper options to HRM and/or foot pods, Garmin's look great but they are not cheap and a lot of us don't need all the fancy dynamics just a little more data and better HR tracking
Thanks for the video! Is the distance spot on when using the foot pod or do you still find yourself having to calibrate the distance after your workout?
I would expected that you mentioned that a lot of garmin watches can SEND your heartrate broadcast to the threadmill.. No need of a chestband although chestband is more precise
They don't sell a foot poot pod any more. That's a running dynamics pod and goes onto your shorts. I've got both and the old footpod was awesome for tracking distance, the more expensive Stryd pod would work though.
No matter how often I calibrate my FR965 to the same exact treadmill in my gym it’s always way off, sometimes above and sometimes below, every time I calibrate and it’s off 0.5 - 1.5km :-(
Curious, as I continue to make these videos. How long have you using a Garmin a for?
Thanks Fam 🙏
1 year with the garmin forerunner 255 but recently been using my coros apex pro 2 more.
My first Garmin watch was the Forerunner 10 in 2014.
@@benshaw2770 a decade!! 🤯
Ben using Garmin for over a half of year and trust me, it is waaaaay better than Apple. Love the glow in the dark watch bad. Law enforcement approved!
Thank you so much for the support! 🙏 Glad you are liking it. This is only our first design. Hoping to bring more Garmin users this year.
Hi, did the Garmin pod give the correct data when it's clipped on the shoe? because the new run pod manuals says it that should be clipped on pants
I was thinking the same thing. I wonder 🤔
Yea came here as soon as saw it. The new green run pod is for running dynamics. It’s completely redundant if you have the HRM+ heart rate monitor.
Keep up the good work brother! Stay safe and watch your 6.
I have a running pod and it explicitly says to use it attached to shorts behind your back. And not to use it on your foot!
And it’s not a foot pod, it’s a running pod!
Thanks for sharing. I didn't know about the calibrate feature, will definitely use that in the future!
Never calibrate to a treadmill. Treadmills are not accurarte.
After receiving the band. I want to come back here to thank you for making a great band. I love it .

Nice catch, made me wonder if i have been putting my pod wrong at first
So what you saying, is that buddy made a video and has no clue what he talking about.. lol thanks for the heads up will make sure not to follow this.
Lol where else does it go?
@AnoNym-zi5ty that specific item is clipped to the back of your running shorts.
@@AnoNym-zi5ty based on garmins instructions, it gets clipped to your shorts in the small of your back.
I’ve notice that when I have the incline set to 1 or 2 I get almost identical distance readings between the treadmill and the watch.
It’s interesting you say that. A PTI once said to me that in order to simulate running on a flat road, you need to set a treadmill on the a 1% incline. There is some debate around that though!
Hi there, I have an issue with my Garmin Fenix 6 Saphire, the step and oxygen respirator are not reading it was shows 0 zero
For right now I focus on time and heart rate. Most of my runs are 45 minutes. I usually run zone 3 so I know I'm getting a good workout. My garmin says I'm running much faster. So I just do time/heart rate
my Garmin watch treadmill with the Garmin HRM Pro plus is really is pretty inaccurate. BTW isn't that pod mean to be on your shorts not your shoes?

Does the calibrate and save work for indoor track runs as well?
So you’re not really calibrating it then, you’re just adjusting the estimated distance to match the actual distance? Or does it get more accurate over time?

Superhelpful. I made the rookie mistake of choosing run on my first workout. Lol I definitely didn't do .16mi in 1:29 like garmin suggested.
Anyway to input hill/elevation workouts? I know I can do it later in Garmin Connect, but then again it won't calibrate on 3rd party apps.
Thank you so so much. You have no idea how helpful this was
Can garmin Connect show live activity data such as Pace, HR, time duration etc while running on treadmill as second display rather than looking at watc? Polar Beat app can do that with any polar watch
Can I use treadmill activity even when I just walking and incline walking and no running?
Thanks!
With a Super Thanks 🫶 Saving it for this weekends post run brunch.
I can’t see my data on the connect app at all and can’t seem to figure out how to.. any advice?
Hi, great video.
Any adv8ce for indoor events like HYROX and tracking 'Pace' specifically. Cheers

What if you have an old treadmill which does not have Bluetooth at all. Can one just use the treadmill activity selected and use that ?
If you make bands, can you make a silicone one that's for like almost 10in wrists?
The Garmin Running Dynamics Pod on your foot?

Hi there, great video!! Is the Garmin vívoactive 5 capable to connect with apps for weight lifting, tracking workouts?
After so many years knowing this guy…I’m finally getting a garmin
Dude, unless you are doing identical workouts, calibration will never work as stride length differs between speed.
Exactly even a Stryd pod needs a little calibration

@@bebop2599I was thinking this. You’re not really “calibrating” anything. You’re just adjusting the estimated distance to match the actual distance.

Nice video man 🎉
Thanks for video ❤ I see you also use Garmin HRM pro , this sensor also has all running dynamics options like Running Pod!?
VO2 Max?

They say Zwift Run Pod works with Garmin watches. It's 20 bucks.
Thanks for the video! Is the distance spot on when using the foot pod or do you still find yourself having to calibrate the distance after your workout?
It usually is provided there's some outdoor running completed prior for Garmin to learn your arm swing
Which watch are you using exactly? - The Epix is clear, but what size?
Great Video! 💪
Means so much🤝
Glad you liked it!
I would expected that you mentioned that a lot of garmin watches can SEND your heartrate broadcast to the threadmill.. No need of a chestband

If you are not running steady state and not at same pace as last workout, calibration will never be accurate.
I only do recovery runs with almost the same pace every time, this shouldn’t be the issue :)
Man I have the same issue , there is no one on this planet who can help me with this
RD Pod should be clipped on the back of your shorts in the middle. It's not a foot pod.
Pouring outside? Bro its cloudy
What I miss when defining a treadmill workout is the ability to set the treadmill's incline.
Very good point!
Also, that's not a foot pod, it does not track steps at all.
I use walk indoor even when i’m outside, just to pair my heart rate arm band 😂😂😂
kind of skipped on how to use the foot pod and if you have to calibrate it.
Watch band to Asia
Price: $29.99
Shipping $43.51 😔
1st like 🎉
That is definitely not a foot pod.
DO NOT use a treadmill to calibrate, they are infamously inaccurate.
