My '01 Avalon XLS has 252k miles and still runs great. I have several cars, but this is my daily driver. My interior has aged very little. The dashboard material is also superior to that of the 2005-10 Avalons which tend to crack. I just wish they had of used more up to date instrument cluster lighting considering it was the top of the line Toyota. Seemed to be outdated, even for 2001. I had to have my valve cover gaskets replaced around 240k miles and still think I have a minor leak at the rear seal. Also my timing belt is due again, so a little maintenance due, but overall a quality and well built car.
The 2011-12 face-lifted version of that gen is probably the nicest looking imo. Only available for two model years so you don't see them on the road too much, at least in my area.
The ride quality on these are incredible. Has same motor as Lexus ES300/RX300 and is roomier. I've owned 2 of these and would gladly buy a 3rd.
