Any complaints or upgrades you think your car need as to how the suspension or brakes feel ? Wonder what you guys get as mpg wise maybe around 350 miles out of a full tank? I’m thinking of buying a 04 with 50k miles on it

It's driving wonderfully. I went ahead and had the timing belt and water pump replaced. Couldn't find any record that it had been done so I erred on the side of caution.

If you keep it well maintained you could probably keep it well into 300,000. Mines a 2000 with 290,000 miles and still drives good

From an artist’s perspective I think that Toyota’s designs for their luxury offerings were excellent and par-the-course around this time. Their understated, rounded, boxy shapes are very masculine and conveyed strength and dependability while also looking smooth and aerodynamic. It seems “boring” I guess but it’s exactly how I would like my ride to look: Tough and practical, but deftly elegant.

I disagree the 07 Avalon would be a better car and is very quick of the line. I had 2 01 avalon. Now I own a 2007 avalon touring.

I bought one recently with a Bench seat and ended up flipping it...now I want one for myself. This is an excellent generation of Avalons.

    • @DrivenCompanion

Whoa, how did you flip it?

    • @yomi_jeremy3964

Mike C long story, I got one as a temporary car because I was tired of driving my SUV.
the guy that was selling it sold me a silver 2003 one for under $3k and it had some scratches and bumps, but not too bad. I just replaced the front rotors, got an alignment, Cabin Filter, air filter, cleaned it up nice over. It had a check engine light but drove smoothly. I drove it for a month and listed it (emphasizing the bench seat) sold it for $3k, basically broke even.
But now I’m in search for one that is in good physical condition with lower miles. This is a really underrated car and generation. It’s not just for old people lol. I actually enjoy driving it more than my Jetta GLI.

My 02 Avalon was pretty floaty around corners when I first bought it. I put new struts on that motherfucker and it’s actually pretty fucking planted. You have t take suspension wear into account when it’s an old vehicle like that.

Don't pay over 4k unless it has new shocks, rack & pinion & timing belt done otherwise you will most likely have to replace those things

My 2008 Lexus asks for Premium but I've run it on regular for years and it's doing just fine.
Usually for these cars the premium ads like 7 horsepower, but it can run as low as regular.
