Imagine having the great career of Eddie Murphy and letting David Spade’s words get to u that u hold such a grudge. Glad he came around tho. One of the classics
It's called being professional. Actors do it all the time or they don't do the movie/show. You can't not do a skit because a woman wrote it. Oh, well, Lily's still here because she took care of herself.
Murphy also didn’t return to Snl for so many years not due to spade’s joke. Remember he was on the show when Lorne wasn’t there. His entire run was during when Lorne had left.
Heard somewhere that Seagal's name is actually pronounced "SEA-gal", but someone once mispronounced it as "sea-GAL", and he thought it sounded more sophisticated, so started making everyone pronounce it that way from then on. . .
For whatever reason George Carlin wasn't in a sketch on the first debut show of SNL but he did do stand up and introduced Musical guests and was more like a MC. He did a monologue. Second show was Paul Simon with special guest Art Garfunkel. Mostly music but there was a taped segment where Paul took on a NBA player in a hoops contest. Marv Albert was involved. He won and in the closing was presented with a trophy. Rob was the third host. It felt more like a variety show on his episode.
Why do they pick hosts that they can't work with? It's not like these celebritities magically turn out to be jerks once they are on set. You know ahead of time if a celebrity is a diva.
Laraine Newman's rationale sort of confuses me. Just because you play recurring characters, it doesn't take away from your being able to be versatile on other episodes and in other sketches. Steven Segal, why host if you're going to be a wet blanket? Do you know how many of us would LOVE to be on that show?!! Besides, people know you're ACTING, even if it's silly and comedic. Nora Dunn and Sinead O'Connor, The Diceman is just a character, an onstage character. While there's much that he's said\says as this character that I wouldn't say and don't agree with, in actuality, as this character, he's making fun of bonehead guys that are truly like this.
I agree with your comment on Newman. Hell, she basically shot herself in the foot when you think about it! So many of the best skits on that show, especially with the original Not Ready for Primetime Players, were recurring. . . Coneheads, the Bee family, whatever that skit was with Bill Murry and Gilda Radner where she plays a homely nerd and Bill's her boyfriend, Jane Curtin and Dan Ackroyd's "Point/Counterpoint", etc. etc.
So Sad! Most unfortunate to see so many Prima Donnas players or guests with narcissistic self serving demands…even some of my favorite SNL players from back in the day… any normal person would have been fired immediately for not doing their job. Steven Seagal should have been number one on this list…he’s a world class self serving ass!
Belushi had a unique brand of comedy, but I give WatchMojo cred saying that the man wasn’t perfect and pointing out the flaws of his time on the program; a shame he thought so poorly of female comedy writers
That sketch is comedy gold. It's friggin' hilarious! I cannot believe you take it so seriously. Why don't you just go get a White Castle and calm down?
@Larry Clowers it is tho the joke being ppl r ignorant n think Mexican is a language. Weather u find it funny or not is another thing but that's premise of the joke.
I think Louise Lasser refused to do most the SNL show she hosted because she hated humor used on the show? I read somewhere she said she wasn't banned, but it was inappropriate humor on the show she hated.
@@TimTE01 Only occasionally watch GG clips. SNL was relevant when it was funny... it hasn't been that for over a decade, so irrelevant and pretty much invisible like NBC
While I believe Keenan’s response to wearing drag had more to do with solidarity with female black comedians more than actually being in drag, the recent cultish and outrageous far right’s hysteria over drag is insane. Two words . . . Milton Berle; I also feel there are far other numerous examples of men dressing in drag and let’s not forget one of my favorite movies Billy Wilder’s “Some Like It Hot” with Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon . . . in which Tony Curtis finally admits to the male character who wants to marry him that he’s a man and the character’s response is “Oh well, nobody’s perfect” (or something along those lines . . . too lazy to do thorough research).

“Steven, it’s a Comedy Show”
One of the cringiest episodes
He’s an idiot…
6:26 oh how Larry David hates being there lol gotta love this guy
Imagine having the great career of Eddie Murphy and letting David Spade’s words get to u that u hold such a grudge. Glad he came around tho. One of the classics
Plus David Spade’s career isn’t doing that great either, so Eddie could roast him back with that.
In many cases, good for the hosts/cast members
They shouldn’t do a sketch they’re uncomfortable with
It's called being professional. Actors do it all the time or they don't do the movie/show. You can't not do a skit because a woman wrote it. Oh, well, Lily's still here because she took care of herself.
Keenan was right with his proclamation. He was playing all the black female characters and celebrities.
"Murphy didn't want to kick Cosby when he was down"?! Seriously, wtf. 🤮🤮
well yeah, america was up his ass for bs from 69 years ago
no point in piling on
Good for Kenan.
he still dressed in drag thou!.. lol
Given Chevy Chase’s reputation, it’s ironic that he was the only cast member that Louise Lasser _did_ want to work with.
Actually, Sinead O’Connor’s infamous appearance was her _second_ SNL appearance; her first appearance was the premiere of the very next season.
Kenan Thompson needs to be mentioned up there with the likes of Eddie Murphy for their impact on the culture
Spade eventually buried himself
Wish it was literally
Murphy also didn’t return to Snl for so many years not due to spade’s joke. Remember he was on the show when Lorne wasn’t there. His entire run was during when Lorne had left.
Not Surprising Steven Segal was one of the absolute Worst Guest SNL ever had.

The show was probably still probably trying to find its way at that point.
"To say in Mexican"
Yeah!! Mexicans speak SPANISH!! WTF Watch mojo!
Like they always say, you just don’t get along with everybody in the workplace
The Elon Musk episode was just bizarre. If he didn’t own Twitter, he probably would have been banned from it by now.
Why do they pick hosts that they can't work with? It's not like these celebritities magically turn out to be jerks once they are on set. You know ahead of time if a celebrity is a diva.
Especially the like of Seagal. That guy's been a jerk since day 1.
Steven Seagal was the worst host.
Adrian Brody comes to mind and Milton Berle.
What image Stephen Seagal ? ...smile.
This was back when people believed his “version of aikido,” was a real martial art, and not just hand flailing & slapping. He

The no1 DCEU actress who hosted on SNL gal gadot
"didn't want to kick a man when he was down" - why make it sound like Cosby was a victim of something or deserving of sympathy?
These were a thing at 12am wtf????
"Phrases in mexican" 🤣🤣🤣it's like Fox News "3 Mexican countries".
It's hard being prejudiced lol
Andrew Dice Clay is a comedian that pushes the envelope and if you’re on Saturday Night Live and you can’t handle it maybe you shouldn’t be a comedian

Sorry but always felt Bulishi was overrated because he died. Just my opinion. I never got his comedy. I loved Chris Farley tho.
I love both. To me, Chris mirrored much of what John did. Respect your opinion, though. You were kind.
