24hr Survival Challenge - Mangrove Coast - Catch and Cook EP.501
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 гру 2024
- I walk into the bush over hills and around swamps for a 24 hour survival challenge along the mangrove coast where I forage and fish for my dinner. I catch and cook a number of good fish as well as identify some useful edible plants along the way. I camp by a freshwater river and hike down to the saltwater in the afternoon dodging poisonous snakes. Then I share a personal camp fire story. I am the wild cook.
This is my video food journal or video food diary of delicious freshly caught foods in the wild, by the sometimes semi naked chef! #fishing #wildcook #catchandcook

The best channel on UA-cam, have recently just started watching (3-4weeks ago) 300 odd episodes deep between work and family. Seriously good viewing if adventure is your thing. I would like to see you go out with Joe Robinet in the snow one day.
Welcome aboard! And thank you. I did talk to Joe a couple of years ago, but we never managed to collaborate. These as well as the boat and ultralight aircraft videos is what I will do from now on.
I am very ill Andy and just want to say I really look forward to waking up every Tuesday to watch your videos.
It's inspired me to hopefully do some over night fishing and camping.in the near future. Thanks again, love the fish cooking skills.
That's a bummer. I hope you get better soon. All the best to you.
By far the most educational UA-camr on what you do .... cheers Andy
Thank you
Most underrated outdoor channel
Thank you, I wait for recognition....
Awesome vid again. Last year I run back the whole series of Bush tucker man. I forgot how good it was and im sure you will take a few good tips of him for your next adventures. Thanks again
That’s cool, maybe I should get his series 2 and watch it, I will certainly be learning a lot more in the next year or two.
Best fishing channel ever and ever!

Great video Andy, and I like the idea about guided trips, I have always thought it would be an awesome way to engage with your content. Hopefully, after the borders open up and we are out of lockdown here in Melbourne. Keeping an eye out for the survey!
I have talked to a couple of companies about doing a similar thing, but this company seems to be legit and I think it will happen
Hey Andy. Awesome video.I remember that. I watched that episode.

I forgot all about the fly swatting edit when this first came out. After watching it again I can’t stop laughing. Outdoors and comedy. Always a win win. As always great job.
Thank you for the comment and cheers. Sorry for the late reply. I have been busy creating online fishing courses. In my last video I give a an update on it. Also note, I do see all new comments, this time I just got a bit behind.
Just found your channel Andy and love it. Hope your survey will be open for worldwide viewers.
Yes, and trips all over the world.
Love to see more of these types of videos. If you could do 3 nights, that would be cool. Great content man.
I just tried, new video out today, a 2 day adventure.
Struggled my entire life to catch fish so I live my dreams through youtubers and absolutely love your content.! When im older and my kids are grown i would love to do what you do.!
You can do it! Just keep the dream alive.
Very interesting learning about our Australian edible and useful plants.
Remember watching LES hiddens years ago on all that kind of stuff. Good watch mate keep em coming

While I’m not filming I’ll be researching.
Hi there Andy, I have just discovered your channel a few days ago, and since then I have been watching video after video. I love everything about your videos, beautiful places, your respect towards nature, good filming, useful info, I like it all.
I've always dreamed of going on adventures on the coasts, unfortunately I live in Serbia, and there is no coast near by for thousands of kilometers.
But your videos are so wholesome and they keep my mind satisfied that somebody is living my dream!
Keep the videos coming, you've got yourself a lifelong subscriber here! :)
Thank you very much. And welcome aboard. Any feedback on my videos is always welcome.
Hi Andy from NSW. Once the boarders are open please come on over. Would be awesome to go on a fishing trip
It’s been too long since my last New South Wales fishing trip
The modern day bush tucker man. Loving your content.
Thank you, I have a long journey ahead of me.
Hi andy i loveeeeee all ur videos but i have to say ur catch n cooks r my favourite. Would love to see u catch n cook more mantis shrimps tho😍
I will, they are super tasty, and I have a new night filming light too.
first time Ive watched a survival trip where someone through back a fish. haha. thanks for the video.
I really only ate one fish per trip the rest I let go so I can catch them next time
Another amazing video Andy ...keep them coming....😇👌
Thanks, will do!
I've seen malcolm Douglas Cook fish like that..God bless his soul.. I'd never thought u could do fish like that....great idea tho....thanks Andy for a bit of bush tucker...please do more video like this
There will be more of this, with more bush tukka.
Hey Andy. One thing I would have done is added a bit of water to the spice mix and mix it to make sort of a paste. Then rub that paste with your finger over the entire inside and if you want the outside of the fish. Just spreads the delicious spice mix a bit better.
I wish I had some oil
@@Andysfishing of course oil is the most preferable. But in the video you were talking about making it as basic as possible so that’s why I was saying water. Oil would have worked even better 👍🏼
loved this one, was wondering since it’s spooky month (halloween) please could you do the next camp fire story a scary or creepy one, possibly of anything that has happened on your trip or if not just an experience you’ve had, would be interesting!
Ok, I have just the one!
@@Andysfishing 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Hi Andy 👋
love the cooking technique!
Great, it will improve and become quite fancy
Andy I really love all of your videos and your tips have helped me become a better fisherman and I'm probably one of your biggest fans. When you mentioned maybe doing fishing trips possibly I almost flipped my shit!!! That would be soooooo awesome!! Thanks for all your advice and helpful tips and hard work making these great videos brother!!! If you ever decide to do autographed photos I would love one!! Thanks again and I hope you have a great weekend. Jay from South Carolina🙂👍🤜🤛🙏🙂🐟🦈🐠
Hi Jay, be sure to take the survey in this weeks video, you may get your chance to fish with me.
@@Andysfishing awesome!!
Love the campfire stories
That’s great to hear
That’s great to hear
That's what i want to do too! I want to go in the wilderness and thrive, not just survive. I loved the 300 days alone that Olivier Vittel did quite a whole back. It would be nice to see you build a cool little shelter on one of your videos. I love building and watching people build shelters
Are you in Australia?
@@BradGryphonn no, the US
Thank you for the comment, I do believe I have seen that video quite a while ago. Yes building a shelter in the bush is one thing I should and want to do. It’s rare to hear women wanting to do these things, cool.
Loving the campfire stories andy, awesome fishery great catches
Glad you enjoyed, cheers
Andy, many thanks again for your excellent content. As a long time off-track bushwalker may I humbly suggest that you pack a pair of sturdy garden gloves for pushing through the thick stuff. Took me years of hiking to discover this little gem of wisdom - from an old (no longer published) publication of Bushwalking in South East QLD. There are so many unexpected thorns in the Australian tropical bush. I guarantee it will be a huge improvement to the ease of your journey.
And it might be overkill but a hiking friend has worn eye protection ever since he got a lawyer vine thorn in his cornea on a walk in the Blue Mountains. Nearly blinded him in his dominant eye.
Keep up the great work and all the best to you and yours!
Might be a bit tricky to manage the camera buttons with the gloves on though!
I have to wear glasses all the time, so safe there. And I have used leather gloves on a couple of trips, they do make like much nicer.
Yes, that would be problematic.
AWESOME VIDEO ANDY!!!
Love your content please keep em coming!!
Would love to see another fish curry made in an overnight campout!!
I’m sure I will they are very tasty and pretty easy to do.
Another great vid Andy it is always exciting to see you do these adventures and learn what you can eat in the bush like those wild raspberries and how good did that fish look as well, Master chef Andy bush cooking style, keep up the great work mate 👌👍
My aim is definitely to learn more try more and teach more
In a survival situation with the gear you have I would get my passive fishing going as fast as possible, find bait and get the trotlines in the water, Then forage but I live in Scandinavia so what do I know! 🙂👍
Trot lines are not legal in a lot of places
@@michaelwalsh9881
In a survival situation laws don't apply.
This is very good advice and doesn’t matter where you live the principle is the same thank you
If it’s a real survival situation then yes but I put myself in these so Unless something goes wrong I still abide by the laws
Great vid Andy. You have my respect and thanks.
Much appreciated thank you
Hi there; just making a comments for you to reply.
Thanks for sharing how to cook the fish. I will try it.
Did it work? Let me know if you like it.
@@Andysfishing thanks for responding. I will create a video and share with you once I can go out fishing. Take care.
Just found your channel. This is so unique and captivating Sir. You are super cool man. Keep it up.
Great to have you on board.
Love you videos Andy. Would love to see a bit more hunting and then cooking it. Great work Mate!!
I hope to have access to a couple of properties soon.
Upcoming content sounds amazing, can't wait!!
So have the last 2-5 episodes.
Enjoyed the adventure Andy. I finally caught some flathead and made fish skin chips! They were extremely easy to do and so tasty. One thing though, the oil must be very, very hot. I left the scales on and they were 10/10. To think how many flat ties I’ve caught, filleted and discarded the skin😳. 🎣🎣🎣🎣🍺🍺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Good stuff! I know, never will we throw out fish skins again.
Another great video Andy
Thank you
There you go again, great video, the national geographic presentation is great. Also, I love the approach to learning more about your environment and food sources. I'm not from Australia, so I love to watch all the food sources and survival stuff available in your jungle. Be safe.
Awesome, thank you Larry. I'm no where near Nat Geo filming quality, but I did always want to sit there for hours and get that shot no one else could after seeing their doco's.
Catching some nice fish! If I were you I would invest in some snake gators for added protection, here in Oklahoma I wear them a lot when I go crashing thru the bush.
They are no good for front fang snakes, only rear fanged snakes.
@@Andysfishing I had no idea, we have a lot of water moccasins around my area so down by the creeks I like to wear them. They can be aggressive when you stumble upon them.
Hey Andy! Much love from Tennessee, USA! Funny I love eating bass and bluegill put over coals! Now I'd like to make a suggestion! After you put that rub in the fish, stick some big oysters in there for that extra moisture. Take a couple of sticks and sort of stitch it closed. Hopefully you give that a try some time! Let me know what you think, brother. Take care.
Ha ha if you’ve been watching my videos that was actually the next step I got a couple of oysters and turn the fish into a carpet bag
Hello Andy. I have said in the past that i don't like raw oysters. However, cooked they are great. Which gave me the idea of stuffing a few oysters in the fish with your spice mix. That said fruit goes well in a curry so those rasberrys would work too. All the best.
Sounds great! That is actually the idea I had while I was gutting the fish. I'm not the biggest fan of raw oysters, and yes, I will do what we call carpet bag fish!
Only if i lived in Australia because i would totally want to go fishing with you and do a catch and cook. Your recipes look so good. My favorite recipe of yours is definitely episode 395 with the crap salad it looks damn delicious!
That was a yummy episode, CRAB salad, ha ha.
Thank you! Genuinely love these solo camping trip videos!!
Glad you like them!
Love the raw nature of your videos and of course how you present them.
As mentioned in someone else's commet, its certainly refreshing seeing your vids pop up. Particularly when I've been stuck here in Melbourne. Cheers Andy 🍻🐊🎣
I feel for you. Melbourne is crazy with COVID rules.
Hey Andy really enjoying theses tupe of survival vids 💯 can’t wait 😊 for when u start travelling fishing with u would be a dream come true Iv been watching you for 5 yrs and it never gets old keep it going and smash it big time 🎣💯
I must finish building my camper and then I can hit the road properly
@@Andysfishingoh yes for sure can’t wait to see how it turns out 👌
Hi, Andy! It’s Steve (Cali Native) living and fishing in Nagoya Japan. I love the videos and your wild cooks! I am getting ready to explore Southern Honshu and hoping to fish for Squid and Yellowtail. I am really impressed by your style, culture and methods. Please make more wonderful videos.! Cheers, Steve
Thank you Steve, I will do. I’d love to explore southern Japan and fish there enjoy.
I already knew what video you were talking about with the Cane toads before your campfire story session because I watched it a month or 2 ago and thought he was crazy! I think those survival videos would be cool! Maybe you could build almost like a bush shelter somewhere and keep coming back to it for a few days at a time to “simulate” being stuck out there for some time. Might make for more interesting videos because then you don’t have to focus on shelter, and other things and could focus on foraging and catching food.
Yes the shelter in the bush idea is a good one I’ll have to work towards that one
Rough going in spots, but I really like the way you enjoy the Aussie bush. Cheers!
Thanks. It’s hard in my body and clothes.
Awesome video mate , i did notice some very nice straight saplings you could use for a spear should you forget your fishing line Andy , should you forget your knife to sharpen it with you can always improvise with sharpening on the rocks and finding some twigs to use as chop sticks to eat with should you forget your eating utensils lol, Nature provides my friend, food was plentiful where you were, loved it . Thumbs up.
Yes, and I will do more videos like that in weeks to come.
Andy...I think you've done it before but wrapping it in banana leaf will lock in the moisture and give it an extra flavor. Easy peezy! Great vid.
I have, and yes the flavour is amazing.
Cracking video as always!
Thanks again!
Wow that butterfly! 🦋
Cool hey
Love this channel! Always something new going on, nice one Andy.
That’s the way I like it. Ha ha
Looking forward to the survival journey.
Cheers. Sorry for the late reply. I have been busy creating online fishing courses. In my last video I give a an update on it.
And the length of the video is incredible!
Glad you like the long ones. More to come.
What a great video, good stuff keep it up.
Had a bunch of good ones that day.
You should do some fingermark fishing at night time because they are probably the best eating fish that I’ve tasted
Once I can figure out our squid, I’ll move up to Fingermark.

Nice idea in cooking the fish👌
Thanks
You know the vid was good when 47 minutes feels really short. Great episode Andy.
That’s great to hear,
Hey Andy! Great video, another thing for the fish is you could bring your preferred citrus to squeeze into the cavity so the spices aren't dry, or if there is some sort of wild edible you could stuff it with that would release juices into the spices then the fish? Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you for the suggestions, Lemmon always goes well with fish, but my idea is slightly different and more exotic.
Great episode (24 hr) You seemed really relaxed in this episode. Great work out there!
I was, but it is also hard work hiking.
love the videos mate. Keep up the solid work! :)
Cheers, my next videos are pretty good too.
Hey Andy, teaching Science and we’re learning about ecosystems currently. Your mangrove exploration vids (particularly Ep 500) are awesome for showcasing the different habitats/animals that exist in these ecosystems. Kids loved it 👍🏼
P.s. as soon as you mentioned the trek with Noah, I knew the camp fire story was going to be about him eating the Cane toads 😂
Great, biology was one of my favourite subjects. I will do more of it.
Ha ha, cool
your so pure man, again, love your bloody vids andy
Thank you, your words are too kind
Really enjoy your videos. Well done
Thank you
This is what I love to see! Keep it coming mate! Love from Sweden
More to come!
When you'll have your jungle kitchen again, you should try what we call in France "la sauce au beurre blanc" ( in English : White butter sauce ). It is not that difficult and long to do ( 15 minutes ), the ingredients are easy to find and it's absolutely delicious with fish filet. It should be just amazing with Barramundi or snapper ( i often eat it with zander or European perch ). Thanks for the adventures, i love starting my week dinning in front of your videos x) !
It’s Great you love watching my videos. Yes I will use the jungle kitchen again, and the butter sauce idea is on the top of my list so keep an eye out for it
Awesome video mate! Might have to try that recipe
Add a little oil to the spice mix it will help a lot
Thank you.
Andy
My pleasure.
I remember the days when I could do that. Another good one Andy.
I’m sure my days are number two, it’s hard on the body doing that
How about creating a stuffing with your spices with some pine nuts and spinach.... yum! Delish
That sounds delicious
Could maybe roast the pine nuts on a stone or something... 😍 how would the greens go though. Do you thing they would last long enough to cook with?
Really enjoy your vids mate. It must take some effort to get to the places you do and then to capture it like you do. Bravo 👍👍👍
Thank you for watching and understanding, I hope to make many more of these videos
That slow motion shot you took of the water hole at dawn after waking up just spoke to me, somehow.
Great, I love the bird noises.
You are incredible mate... Love from india... Stay safe...
Thanks a ton
Ok.. you got a new sub here..looks interesting so am gonna explore more of ur vdos.👍
Sounds good thank you, check out my last half a dozen videos it’s some of my best work
