- In this episode I am a solo traveller. I fish for squid overnight with a light, catching a number of them, and make squid ink pasta recipe from scratch on a tropical beach. I also caught a big Bluefin Tuna and a monster Spanish Mackerel ( aka King Fish ). Before bed I tell a creepy ghost story that happened to me and is 100% real!

Hey Andy!! First off, hello from Oklahoma!! So, you talked a little about your friend Neredith, and I apologize, I probably butchered the spelling of her name. I love her! I think she is a lovely lady and I loved the the sailing episodes. You mentioned this in this episode so I wanted to give you some insight into what you may be seeing with your stat's on UA-cam. The reason I watch you religiously is you have become my friend, in my mind. I know you don't know me from Adam, but for me, you are my adventurous fishing buddy that I visit once a week to take me away from landlocked Oklahoma to an exotic tropical location and you take me on a fishing adventure and show me all kinds of marine life I can't see here. And I LOVE it! I watch you for the adventure, for the fishing action and to learn about the marine wildlife in Australia and different ways to cook fish and seafood. So, there is a chemistry you have established with me/ your channel/audience that obviously works, that you have built up over time. For the episodes where Neridith (and I'm so sorry, I know I am completely butchering her name) the chemistry is different. Its not bad, just different than what your viewers are used to. The sailing episodes were more like a Rick Steve's Travelogue than an Andys Fishing and Wild Cook. Rick Steve's has a HUGE following here in the US (He's popular on PBS (the Public Broadcasting System).

I figured the sailing trip wouldn't be everyones cup of tea, we call that a split audience, and unless a creator only makes one type of content, it is inevitable. G'day Andy. Been watching you for years and wanted to let you know I love your work champ. To the watchers commenting on Andy and Nereda things like "are they broken up?" Why is that the instant thought? Andy and Nereda are entitled to their privacy completely. Seriously if you don't see someone in a video, why does that matter? People need to learn that personal details are NOT something you can demand to be shared. Show us what you want Andy and keep everything else you value private. What you show us in your vids is more than enough. Again love your work champ

Oh Yay Andy!!!!! I know you must have had SO many more squid requests, but it made all of us that asked for this SO special!! I can’t even pretend that any of our requests don’t matter, because I know we all matter to you🤪. I will ALWAYS enjoy all of your videos!!!! This recipe is DEFINITELY one to duplicate once I get to a coast!! Squid is one of my favs.........I just can’t do carbs. I kinda suck that way. My genetics made me diabetic. That’s one of the reasons I love watching your channel. Most of what you make I can eat, and I will duplicate it when there are no carbs, or low carbs
I actually chose a long time ago to eat as little processed carbs as possible that includes potato pasta rice and bread, I know my body responds better to fresh meat fruit and vegetables. Are UA-cam are who doesn’t listen to his audience or read the comments is missing a great opportunity you guys come up with some great ideas, thank you for yours.
You are just TOO amazing Andy! I have refused all meds. I have only advised I will accept natural meats, veggies and cheeses.

Wow, great video.!! Squid ink pasta made on the beach, was not expecting that...In my 30 years of being a chef, I had used squid ink a couple of times.. Usually in higher end applications, did a cuttle fish dish one time in which we used the ink to make a risotto.. I find the ink is more for the color than anything else.. Yours looked great...
I think you’re right about the colour being the main effect, we eat with our eyes so I think sometimes having something look a different colour affects our taste buds a little, I’m on a diet so many Schiff’s give me feedback and comments, thank you.
That squid ink goes through ya system pretty well and makes for a horrifying toilet time the next day hahahah

I like slicing the squid very thin and using it as noodles and make a ramen type noodle soup bowl thing. Fry up the tenticals for on top to look fancy haha.

Nice feed by the looks of it. Squid fried in its own ink was always my favorite dish at an old tapas bar I used to go to. Absolutely amazing - almost a bbq flavour, though I wonder now if that was not the ink but the char flavour from the pans. But maybe something for you to try - I think a squid is all you need!

For years I have had a fascination with the name of squid ink but after seeing it used on several game shows (where no one gave the correct answer as per the show) . the correct answer they maintained was sepia. From what I have been able to ascertain is that sepia is the color of the ink but not the name of the ink. Most of the references say that the sepia colored ink is the product of cuttlefish not squid. Because sepia has references in photography and other coloring procedures I guess that sepia is not squid ink but a color. The english language can be very frustrating, loved the video,Ron.
I always thought sepia was like a combination of white and beige or brown or black a type of film style or colour grading
@@Andysfishing It appears to have been lost in translation over the years as the name now applies to color tones used in Photography and other art as well as a form of american music. The most compelling link to marine animals is in particular cuttlefish genus Sepia . Ron.

A couple of nice fish in this ep.
Squid ink really doesn't have a ton of flavor. I even had a tapas dish of squid in squid ink, literally that's it, and it barely had any flavor. I think when it's used in pasta, it's more for dramatic color than flavor. Frankly, I'd forget it and just enjoy the meat. I'm glad to hear you are still with Nerida (hope that's spelled right!). Another great video, Andy!
I had to try it, and yes, I think for dramatic effect is more the case.
That dish looks amazing! The contrast in colors with all of the different ingredients definitely looks gourmet. You've outdone yourself. Hopefully, you're ghost stories are only for this month because of Halloween and not an integral part of your catch and cook vids.

Awesome Andy I like to make my own egg pasta and make fresh sauces it tastes so good my fave is a sauce with cherry toms or mini romas with garlic and basil and plenty of extra virgin olive oil then grate plenty of parmigiano on its also a good sauce for homemade Gnocchi
